In an unexpected last minute turn of events, I ended up having the opportunity to visit the Disneyland Resort. My focus was on Disneyland Park as well as the Downtown Disney/Hotel District Area. We'll visit these locations to see what's new and what's happening here at "The Happiest Place on Earth". We'll look at new offerings such as Adventureland Treehouse, Pixar Place and Tiana's Palace. Speaking of Tiana, we look at its impact on the park as well as recent announcements of when Tiana's Bayou Adventure will arrive. We'll then look at entertainment happenings to include Mickey's Mix Magic and the incomparable Magic Happens. We'll also look at where Disneyland is in terms of receiving the permissions and authority to direct its own zoning in moving forward. Could Disneyland have a third theme park? We'll explore that and we'll finish up with some tips for how to make your Disneyland visit the best possible. __________________________________________________________ My new book, "A Century of Powerful Disney Insights" is available! Gato Maestro at Nash Street Tavern. It's the Christmas Episode. And we played more than 30 different songs that night. Some of them are Gato classics. Others were not so well rehearsed or practiced. Ben also missed recording a fair bit of the show. This is only one and a half of three sets that were played. We will be posting the mix we got from the house sound as well.

Gato Maestro at Nash Street Tavern. Another wonderful jam with our friends at Nash Street Tavern. Ben had the H4n running, but the batteries died and so we only got the first two sets. Gato Maestro at Nash Street Tavern. So good to be back playing at Nash Street tavern. This venue is kinda where we cut our teeth. I daresay this is one of our best shows ever performing out live anyway. This is the Angel mix. Angel is a sound engineer who works at Nash Street. She runs 2-3 mixes simultaneously when a band is playing. This is the From The Board mix that she captured, with individual microphones. It misses a few songs at the end of the set because of lack of space on the CDs she gave us.

There is no word on when or if they will go back on sale. Speculation online thinks that this is because of the impending lawsuit around reservations and access tied to the Magic Key program. Even more speculation online thinks that the program may get reworked again before going back on sale. Only time will tell. – https://www.micechat.com/323209-disneyland-news-magic-key-locked-new-ca-resident-ticket-offer/ For Weeklyteers who are going to the park and who aren't Magic Keyholders, there is a great ticket deal available! California residents can purchase summer tickets to Disneyland starting as low as $83 per day. The ticket is a 3-day, one park per day ticket for $249 for Monday through Thursday admission, with weekend tickets starting at $299. For $60 more per ticket, park hopping can be added. Tickets are valid for trips from June 3th and September 15th, 2022. Not a bad value to get to see all the nighttime entertainment that has returned. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/31/new-ticket-deal-announced-for-select-disneyland-guests/ Star Wars Celebration was this past weekend across the street from the Disneyland Resort at the Anaheim Convention Center. A lot of Star Wars news was announced, even some parks news! Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were announced to be coming to Star Wars: Galaxys Edge, and then they were there over the weekend. Din Djarin, better known as The Mandalorian, and Grogu, better known as the Child were also announced to be showing up in the area soon. This is a break from the strict timeline that Imagineering has placed on the area, but promise that the characters from the different eras will not interact or be in the same area at the same time. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/13175/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_May_31__June_5_2022#news3 Anyone who has been to Oga's Cantina in Star Wars Galaxys Edge will know DJ Rex spinning tunes for the patrons of the establishment. No word yet on when this will reopen, but Cast Members are stationed outside of the location telling guests it should be returning soon. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ This past weekend, Fantasmic! returned to the Rivers of America to delight guests once again. The projections look clear and bright, the show scenes look fresh, and the show was amazing as always. The best way to get a great seat for the show is to book the River Belle Terrace dining package for $50 per guest, since they are using the same reserved seating area that the Blue Bayou usually uses. Once the Blue Bayou reopens, this area is expected to be shifted to the side more to accommodate the Blue Bayou guests. The Hungry Bear location is across from the Haunted Mansion and offers a side viewing angle for the show. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ June is here, which means that the busy summer season has started at Disneyland. The Disneyland Forever fireworks show will now play nightly with fireworks 7 days a week. During the non-summer and holiday season, Mickey's Mix Magic was played with projections only during the week, with fireworks on the weekends only. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Last week, the most popular attraction in Disney California Adventure had an incident that has caused it to be closed ever since. Video online showed one of the cars on the outside racetrack portion of the attraction stopped and smoking. Though the vehicle never caught fire, the guests in the vehicle were buckled in with smoke coming from the rear. Cast Members did get out to the guests and exit them from the vehicle with no injuries. Disney has closed the attraction to investigate the incident to ensure it won't happen again. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ In Downtown Disney, food trucks have taken up residence by the old ESPN building to help feed hungry guests. These food trucks are expected to be there until at least July 4th. This is a great idea since the Earl of Sandwich is gone and there is a lack of affordable dining options, especially for larger families. – https://www.micechat.com/322984-disneyland-news-racers-fantasmic-star-wars/ Guests staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel can enjoy one of the hotel amenities again. The pool has finally reopened after a lengthy refurbishment. Since this will be the 50th anniversary of the parade, Disney Live Entertainment is adding some new elements. An all new, enchanted grand finale, celebrating the theme of togetherness, will be 118 feet in length, making it one of the longest and grandest units in the parade's history. Sam Eagle spent the day at Disneyland, proclaiming it to be the Most Patriotic Place on Earth. With features such as Main Street, USA, the Rivers of America, and Great Moments with Mr.Lincoln, he may be correct. To check out his message to fans, check out the link in our show notes. – https://twitter.com/TheMuppets/status/1495805525707030530 The next time that you stroll through Downtown Disney, you may notice that demolition has begun on the west side of the shopping area. Construction equipment has moved in around the building that housed the old AMC theater and Earl of Sandwich location and has started knocking the building down. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/02/demolition-begins-at-west-side-of-downtown-disney-district/ Previously, we talked about the magnificent chak drawings in Downtown Disney. Disney posted a time lapse of the creation of one of the murals by Marcella Swett as part of Celebrate Soulfully. We encourage everyone listening to visit the link in our show notes to see this amazing creation take shape. – https://twitter.com/Disneyland/status/1495160472273928196 It wouldn't be an episode of DLWeekly if we didn't have a new set of ears to talk to you about. The Emporium at Disneyland has the new ears to celebrate 2022. The ears feature a shimmery blue bow in front of sequined ears, which look like confetti in shades of blue, white, yellow, and red. 2022 is embroidered on the side of the band in red, light blue, yellow, and dark blue. The ears are $29.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/02/18/photos-disneys-new-minnie-ears-were-worth-the-wait/ A new passion fruit treat has come to the resort this week. The Passion Fruit Mint Julep is available at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square. This version adds a hint of sweetness and fruit flavor the the classic Mint Julep. This is a great option for those who aren't fans of the classic drink. Give it a try for $5.49. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/02/19/review-this-twist-on-a-classic-disneyland-drink-could-win-over-haters/ What doesn't taste better with Oreo? A new churro for sale in Downtown Disney at California Churro Company aims to find if adding Oreo to the classic Disney treat is a hit. For $7.99, guests get a churro, cut in half and covered in Oreo crumbs and a cream cheese frosting. The Disney Food Blog said it was overwhelmingly dense, messy, and sort of bland. The cream cheese frosting was good, however. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/02/19/review-disneys-oreo-flavored-churro-surprised-us/ Going to Disneyland is a fun, happy experience to take you out of your day to day life. How about being able to live in a Imagineer designed community? Story Living by Disney was announced last week and promises vibrant neighborhoods, distinctly designed spaces, unique amenities, and Disney world-renowned service. The first of these will be built just outside of Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley and called Cotino, a Story Living by Disney Community. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/02/announcing-storyliving-by-disney-new-business-to-develop-residential-communities/ Last week, we talked about the new Big Thunder and Happiest Day games coming soon. This week, two more games are coming! A Goofy Movie Game allows players to join Max as he races to global superstar Powerline's concert, while collecting memories for his scrapbook. Return of the Headless Horseman has players helping Ichabod get to the covered bridge before the Headless Horseman. The Goofy game will be on sale for $23.99, and the Headless Horseman game will be $19.99. – https://www.micechat.com/314303-new-disney-funko-games-big-thunder-headless-horseman/ Discussion Topic: Tage and Teresa discuss parades and spectaculars.

February, 2022 will be Magic Keyholder Celebration Month. Disneyland announced the month long celebration of Key Holders happening in the parks, Downtown Disney, and at home! No specific details have been released on what will be offered in February, but we will keep you posted as news is released. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/16/disneyland-magic-key-holders-prepare-to-be-celebrated-for-a-whole-month-next-year/ An unhappy Magic Key Holder has filed a lawsuit against Disney for “deceiving it's most loyal fan base by artificially limiting theme park capacity and blocking passholders with ‘no blockout' annual passes from making reservations.” The lawsuit is a $5 million dollar suit filed on behalf of all Disneyland Magic Key holders claiming that Disney “relegated them to ‘second class' ticket holders by artificially limiting Magic Key reservations and the number of passholders that can visit on any given day.” Disneyland has said that they will “vigorously defend our position as the case proceeds.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/12/16/disneyland-passholder-lawsuit-alleges-magic-key-deceptively-advertises-no-blockout-dates/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/20/disney-responds-to-5-million-magic-key-and-park-reservation-lawsuit/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/magic-key-terms-conditions/ When we were in the parks a couple of weeks ago, there were quite a few PhotoPass photographers who were trying to take amazing photos, and control the crowds at the same time. This week, it appears that they have received some help at Sleeping Beauty Castle with rops to direct guests around the optimal PhotoPass photo area. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ For guests that have been pre-screened for the Disability Access Service or DAS (pronounced DAAHS) now have a new option available in the Disneyland App. Return times can be reserved through the app after the service has been linked to a ticket, making it unncessary to visit with a guest relations cast member to make a reservation. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ Single bobsled riders should take note of this next news item. The single rider line has moved at the Matterhorn from the area where the Lightning Lane return area was, to the right side exit of the attraction, towards the teacups. This should help alleviate at least some of the congestion that can happen where the three lines come together at the entrance. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ With the opening of the Plaza Point Holiday Shoppe on Main Street, the holiday shop in Fantasyland has been re-themed. The location, now called Merlin's Marvelous Miscellany, received a new sign sporting the new name last week. No information on what will be offered in the shop just yet. – https://www.micechat.com/310365-disneyland-update-magic-key-lawsuit-zany-maynard-fun-and-ho-ho-ho/ The Disney Parks Blog has some festive holiday digital wallpapers available for download. Each design comes in mobile, desktop, and Apple Watch versions for all screen sizes. Designs include Mickey Mouse getting ready to hit the slopes, Mike and Sully playing outside in the snow, Rocket and Groot strung up in lights, and many more. Head on over to the link in our show notes to download the version that best says Happy Holidays for you. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/celebrate-the-holiday-season-with-new-disney-digital-wallpapers/ A new, ecological way to get around the Anaheim Resort District is coming soon. Sage Energy Consulting is working with the Anaheim Transportation Network to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reduce electricity costs, and charge the new vehicles. Some of the charging stations are solar powered, and work with batteries to store power when the sun is out, and charge the busses when it is a cloudy day, or at night. The goal is to have a 100% electric fleet by 2025. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/17/how-your-ride-to-disneyland-will-be-different-in-the-future/ Fans of soccer, or football as it is known everywhere else in the world, now have a place to shop in Downtown Disney. Pele, named after the legendary Brazilian soccer player, opened this last week. The store is themed like a stadium, and offers a variety of soccer gear from global sports brands. Official club and national team jerseys from around the world are also for sale which can be customized with a name and number. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/more-exciting-new-shops-and-experiences-arrive-in-downtown-disney-district-at-disneyland-resort/ Disney+ subscribers have more Disney Insider episodes to catch on the streaming service. A selection of desserts and beverages is provided and takes place at 7pm and 9:30pm on party nights. Stores around the Disneyland Resort have already started stocking new Halloween merchandise. From tees, to ears, to hats, and more, there is something for everyone. Some standout items include a Haunted Mansion/Madame Leota necklace or ear rings, a pair of hitchhiking ghosts socks, and a Haunted Mansion wallpaper folding hand fan. – https://www.micechat.com/298137-disneyland-merchandise-update-spooky-beginnings-mansion-marvel/ and https://www.shopdisney.com/halloween-shop/ Mickey and Minnie have come to the resort in a new way! Strollers at the resort now feature the classic couple, along with their classic red and black color scheme. The old design was black and blue, so this is an upgrade! The sun shades feature Mickey and Minnie on either side of the seat. The wheels are black and yellow to complete the look. For guests needing to rent one, they are $18 a day for the single stroller, and $36 for the double stroller. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/08/07/disneylands-strollers-just-got-a-super-cute-upgrade/ Just a quick reminder to anyone who will be visiting Disneyland in the next few weeks, the Haunted Mansion is scheduled to be down for the transition to Haunted Mansion Holiday from August 16th to September 2nd. This will be the 20th anniversary of the holiday overlay and will feature nods to each of the 20 years in the gingerbread house in the ballroom scene this year. – https://www.micechat.com/297892-disneyland-update-magic-keys-and-cast-member-needs/ Another quick note to guests going to the parks soon, Mickey's Mix Magic, the fireworks show that is currently shown at Disneyland has moved to 9pm from 9:30pm, and starting August 30th, the fireworks portion of the show will be on weekends only, with projections only on the weekdays. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12997/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_August_9__15_2021#news4 With the return of the popular bread bowls in Disney California Adventure, Disney has posted a TikTok video of how they are made! There a few steps and watching the Cast Members make these bowls of awesomeness so fast is amazing to watch. To see this for yourself, check out the link in our show notes at dlweekly.net. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/08/02/video-see-how-disney-makes-their-iconic-bread-bowls/ The Wonderground Gallery in Downtown Disney has reopened after a brief refurbishment. None of the physical aspects of the store were changed, but most of the items available for sale were replaced and refreshed. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/08/photos-wonderground-gallery-reopens-at-downtown-disney-district-after-brief-refurbishment/ The Orange County Register reported this week that Disneyland has 19,000 cast members working at the resort, and is continuing to rehire furloughed and laid off cast members. This only represents 3/5 of the total workforce pre-pandemic. Much of the cast that works third shift are still on furlough, with the overnight duties falling to day shift. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/08/06/disneyland-workforce-reaches-19000-unions-want-thousands-more-rehired/ There was a union protest outside of Disneyland on August 5th, representing a number of different Cast Member unions that work at the resort. They protested to call attention to returning to work and fighting for a living wage at the resort. The resort has been understaffed since it's reopening at the end of April and has not been able to get all the cast members to return. – https://www.micechat.com/297892-disneyland-update-magic-keys-and-cast-member-needs/ Another sad situation for Cast Members is the ticket restrictions that have been in place since reopening, making it nearly impossible to use this valuable perk of the job. Cast Members are given three different types of passes to use. Self-admission, which is unlimited, but subject to blockout days, the main entrance pass, which allows cast members and up to three guests into the parks, which is limited to about 16 days per year, with blackouts, and finally complimentary tickets, which are one-day park hoppers given to cast members two to three times a year, with no blockout dates. The first two passes have been blocked out since reopening, and the third is limited by a low amount of reservations available for the ticket type. – https://www.micechat.com/297892-disneyland-update-magic-keys-and-cast-member-needs/ The Walt Disney Animation Studios Disney+ long-term series production is moving out of Burbank. For an additional $55, the ticket can be upgraded to a park hopper. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12975/Disneyland_Releases_Summer_2021_Ticket_Offer With the 4th of July, the fireworks officially returned to Disneyland! Mickey's Mix Magic lit up the night with a special 4th of July segment added to the end. The crowds for this performance were huge and looked like Disneyland before the pandemic. Once the show was over, getting out of the park took a while since the park closed soon after. – https://www.micechat.com/295512-disneyland-update-red-white-boo/ With the recent 4th of July celebration here in the US this past week, the Disney Parks Blog posted about the Flag Retreat Ceremony and it returning to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom on July 1st. Disneyland's flag retreat has been happening daily since the reopening on April 30th. The ceremony is one of the park's oldest traditions. The flag retreat ceremony happens daily in the late afternoon in Town Square. Check with Guest Services for exact timing. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/07/time-honored-flag-retreat-ceremonies-return-to-walt-disney-world-resort-and-disneyland-resort/ The Disneyland Hotel has reopened along with a couple of it's famous establishments. Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar and Tangaroa Terrace both welcomed guests back for their great food and drink options. The Tangaroa Terrace bar is open 11am to midnight, and Trader Sam's is open 4pm to midnight. The bars have a 90 minute window to enjoy your food and beverages, to allow for more guests who are waiting to get in. – https://www.micechat.com/295512-disneyland-update-red-white-boo/ Trader Sam is celebrating at the Disneyland Hotel! The Enchanted Tiki Bar opened in 2011, making this their 10th year! To celebrate, a limited-edition pin inspired by the exterior of the location. The pin opens up to reveal a zombie head mug, along with a tiki! The pin is limited to 3,000 and is available on shopDisney.com for $19.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/07/02/trader-sams-is-celebrating-its-10th-anniversary-in-disneyland-with-a-limited-edition-pin/ It is just the beginning of summer, but it is so hard not to look forward to fall and Halloween! The park calendar has the Haunted Mansion going down for refurb from August 15th through September 3rd. This typically means only one thing! Haunted Mansion Holiday could be returning this year! Disney has not confirmed this at this time, but it seems likely. – https://www.micechat.com/295512-disneyland-update-red-white-boo/ Guests are once again enjoying the frosty peaks of Matterhorn Mountain, since it has reopened as of July 2nd. Also, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln also returned to the Opera House this week for guests to enjoy and take in some great air conditioning. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/07/02/photos-matterhorn-bobsleds-has-reopened-in-disneyland/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/07/photos-video-great-moments-with-mr-lincoln-reopens-at-disneyland/ and https://www.micechat.com/295512-disneyland-update-red-white-boo/ Coco is coming to the parks, but not exactly in the way we had imagined. On July 17th, a new Coco scene will be coming to Mickey's PhilharMagic in Disney California Adventure. “Un Poco Loco” will anchor the new scene, with Germaine Franco, one of the original composers from the movie, producing the score that is unique to the show. Disneyland Paris will also debut the addition on July 17th, with Disney World getting it for their 50th anniversary. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/07/disney-and-pixars-coco-coming-to-mickeys-philharmagic-on-july-17/ Disneyland Paris welcomed guests back to its parks recently, and with that a new FastPass option that may come to the US parks as well. Premiere Access, not to be confused with the same name as Disney+ Premiere Access, allows guests to purchase one “Premiere Access” at a time, ranging from $9.50 to $17.75, depending on the attraction. Some attractions will also have a virtual queue, which could mean the only way to ride an attraction is to pay for it. – https://www.micechat.com/295719-disneyland-update-summer-gets-normaler/ With all the great, happy news coming out of the resort lately, there is a bit of disappointing news as well. Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel, along with the PCH Grill at Disney's Paradise Pier hotel are permanently closed. Disneyland officials have said that “options are being considered” for both locations. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/07/01/disneyland-permanently-closes-2-restaurants-including-a-steakhouse-rich-in-disney-history/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/07/02/news-2-restaurants-set-to-permanently-close-at-disneyland-resort/ The World of Color lagoon has some sad sights for fans of the nighttime show. The wooden structures that house the show lighting near Pixar Pier have been removed, showing extensive work in progress. This means that it is unlikely that the show will return in the near future. – https://www.micechat.com/295719-disneyland-update-summer-gets-normaler/ Maurice's Treats at the Princess Fantasy Faire has a new sweet menu item. The new item is a trio of Madeline cookies themed to Snow White, Belle, and Aurora. Snow White is flavored like chocolate chips, Belle has a citrus flavor, and Aurora tastes like raspberry. The treats have a mild flavor and are not overly sweet. They are not on the menu, so guests may have to ask for them. The trio is $6.49. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/07/01/photos-can-you-guess-which-princess-inspired-these-new-disneyland-treats/#more-515248 Luca fans will be very excited for this next DIY treat! Luca director Enrico Casarosa has posted his recipe for Trenette al Pesto! The recipe provides step-by-step instructions that are also illustrated with characters from Luca. This may have to be something we make soon! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/28/recipe-how-to-make-trenette-al-pesto-from-pixars-luca/ A new Loungefly backpack has been spotted in the parks. This one is unique in that you can attach your Minnie headband to the backpack, adding some additional flair. The bag itself is white, with Minnie ear headbands in different colors. The backpack is for sale at World of Disney for $75. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/07/photos-new-minnie-ear-loungefly-backpack-allows-you-to-attach-ear-headband-to-the-bag/ Discussion Topic: Evan – Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/evandisneydesign

News: With the blueprint for a safer economy measures being stopped by the State of California, Disneyland is free to loosen some restrictions. As of Tuesday, June 15th, masks and social distancing are no longer required in the theme parks. Distancing markers have begun to be removed from the resort and indoor queues are now open for guests to wait inside, instead of outside like was previously required. – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/travel-information/ With the addition of more guests from out of state, more dining locations are reopening. As we reported on last week, Oga's Cantina, Docking Bay 7, Alien Pizza Planet, Rancho del Zocalo, Wine Country Trattoria, and Bayside brews are all returning. In addition to these, some quick service and outdoor vending locations are returning. Maurice's Treats, Jack Jack Cookie Num Nums, Fantasyland Food Cart, and Edelweiss Snacks on June 24th. July 1st, Hungry Bear, Lucky Fortune Cookery, Corn Dog Castle, Harbor Galley, Schmoozies, and Morimer's Market will be open. July 2nd, the Tangoroa Terrace and Trader Sam's reopen at the Disneyland Hotel. Finally, on July 8th, the Refreshment Corner and Clarabelle's Hand Scooped Ice Cream return. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Some of the live entertainment has been spotted rehearsing for their return this Friday, June 18. The Disneyland Band has been practicing after park hours, according to Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock's Instagram account. No word on other acts, but it seems like only a matter of time at this point. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Starting July 4th, Disneyland will resume nightly fireworks! Mickey's Mix Magic will run nightly through the summer for all to enjoy. Over at Walt Disney World, Happily Ever After will resume on July 1st at Magic Kingdom, and EPCOT Forever will return to Epcot, also on July 1st. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/06/fireworks-spectaculars-are-back-at-disney-parks-this-summer/ Four small attractions also reopened on June 15th. The Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-through, the Animation Academy, the Golden Zephyr, and Sorcerer's Workshop have all returned to guests. These attractions were able to return with the social distancing mandate expiring for California, allowing the tighter spaces and indoor areas to accommodate enough guests, allowing them to open. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Some changes have come to Avengers Campus since it opened at the resort just over a week ago. Showtimes for the Avengers character encounters have been added to the Disneyland mobile app, in order to allow guests to plan ahead and not wait in the land for hours waiting for the encounters to happen. – https://www.micechat.com/294016-simple-avengers-campus-fixes-on-the-way-showtimes-publish-today/ Some dining changes have come to Avengers Campus. Shawarma Palace has been removed from mobile order all together, more standby capacity was added to Pym Test Kitchen, and mobile orders can only be made inside the land. Previously, some guests could mobile order outside of the area, and then use the order to gain access, but this is no longer allowed. Having guests place orders while already in the area also allows for the mobile order windows to last a lot longer and not be completely full in the morning for the entire day. – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ The Disney Food Blog tested out the WEB Slinger Power Band to see if it was worth the price if you wanted to use it on the attraction. Basically, having a power band will give your web slinging a power up and gain more points, but it doesn't really affect the enjoyment of the attraction, unless you want to get the high score. Guests wanting to be the top of the leader board will need to have one of these to score the highest points possible. Unless topping the leader board is worth $60 to you, then these aren't a must have item. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/11/does-60-really-make-a-difference-on-web-slingers-at-disneys-avengers-campus/ Starting on June 18th, the Toy Story Parking lot will be open for guests again. Busses will be running between the resort transportation plaza and the parking lot, which hopefully means that the Mickey and Friends tram will also be making a comeback soon! – https://www.micechat.com/294078-disneyland-update-the-rush-to-fully-reopen/ Some photo ops have come to Downtown Disney this week. One of the ops is from the Hulu original Love, Victor, the other is based on Spider-Man! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/13/whats-new-at-disneyland-resort-avengers-campus-opening-and-a-new-color-trend/ Of course with summer on the way, there is a summer treat that has returned to the resort. The Watermelon Seasonal Apple has arrived at Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure for $11.99. This variation on the classic features a Granny Smith apple with caramel, white chocolate and watermelon flavored coating, and marshmallow ears. There is a strong watermelon flavor, so if you are a fan of that, this is for you. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/06/10/review-a-disneyland-caramel-apple-has-a-fun-flavor-combo/ Beginning in January, 2022, students can enroll in a new set of workshops presented by Disney. Disney Imagination Campus will be a collection of workshops across a range of performing arts and academic subjects tiered to different grade levels. These workshops are geared to helping students learn how to apply their imaginations to solve a lifetime of challenges – in wildly creative ways. http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Join Suzie and Grant as they visit Disneyland to watch and review the new nighttime spectacular Mickey's Mix Magic!  With fireworks! Recorded on February 7, 2019. TRANSCRIPT: This episode finds us at Disneyland to check out the park’s newest piece of nighttime entertainment, Mickey’s Mix Magic!  Disneyland’s website says: Light up the night at this new, high-energy show celebrating Disney’s legendary duo Mickey and Minnie Mouse!   Before we hear DJ Mickey spin some tunes, here are five fast facts about Mickey’s Mix Magic at Disneyland Park. 1.  Mickey’s Mix Magic officially debuted at Disneyland on January 18, 2019. 2.  There are three viewing areas for the show, Main Street U.S.A., the facade of It’s A Small World and water projection screens on the Rivers of America.  Each of these locations has custom projection designs promising a slightly different experience in each location. 3. It’s interesting to note that the show will not feature fireworks every single performance.  The show was written as a projection show with fireworks adding enhancement to the proceedings on select nights only.  On the night the audio for this episode was recorded, there were fireworks. 4.  The show uses more that 2 dozen video projectors and 14 of those projectors are on Main Street USA! 5. The song featured in the show, It’s a Good Time by the Deekompressors, was written especially for Mickey’s Mix Magic. Now it’s time to celebrate Mickey Mouse with Mickey’s Mix Magic.  Suzie was with me the night I recorded this and, even though she snuck off to get an ice cream during the show, her and I discuss the show after the audio.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we experience Mickey’s Mix Magic at Disneyland!
