To close out #SciFiJuly: An Infinity of Titles, we going all-out by bringing back editor/director R.J. Kizer, who edited a variety of films for New World Pictures, to talk to us about GALAXY OF TERROR! R.J. was one of film's editors and worked on the most infamous scene in the entire film (hint: there's a worm)! We go truly behind the scenes, as R.J. describes the working conditions for editors on Roger Corman's infamous Lumberyard Studio, and what it was like to edit for Roger Corman and GALAXY OF TERROR director Bruce Clark!Do we discuss the Infinity of Titles? Of course we do! Do we discuss how R.J. got the film a "R" rating from a "X?" Oh, we do!  Plus, R.J. explains how he appeased the request for a "love scene," and, oh yeah, drops a few details about BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS and SPACE RAIDERS! R.J. is full of great stories, as you would know if you heard our episode about GODZILLA 1985 and/or his New World Career! Don't miss out on this conversation with a New World legend! We continue  #ScifiJuly: An Infinity of Titles with the inspiration for this month's themed title: 1981's GALAXY OF TERROR! Roger Corman's second foray into science fiction shot at the Lumberyard Studio in Venice California featured an all-star cast and production design from James Cameron, Robert and Dennis Skotak and the rest of the crew Corman assembled for BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS, but, this time, Cameron also directs 2nd Unit, in what could be seen as a warm-up to his later ALIENS though it is truly a warm-up to his directorial debut PIRANHA II: THE SPAWNING and we'll tell you how!Joining us for the adventure through space that just so happens to be the perfect vehicle for a corporate training video is actor and filmmaker Tarik Davis, who first joined us for ANDROID back in our early days! Tarik's new film, We're Not in Harlem Anymore, is currently playing in festivals, so keep an eye out and you may be able to see it in your city soon!  In the meantime, Tarik explains all the lessons GALAXY OF TERROR has for your company, and there are many! So many lessons! So many surprises! So join us as we head our special crew discusses the work of another crew - though, let's be honest, we're not here to discuss Cos, because who would - and learn about how you can be your best self! Sometimes it takes a giant, uh, lesson to do so! So grab your crystals, finish up that waterslide ride, and blur your face up as we dive into GALAXY OF TERROR! We continue #SciFiJuly: An Infinity of Titles with a giant interview with director and visual effects supervisor Ernest Farino! From an early age, Ernest was fascinated by special effects and his love for filmmaking would take him from creating the stop-motion creature in 1978's THE ALIEN FACTOR to Los Angeles and working for Roger Corman at the Venice Lumberyard studio on films like GALAXY OF TERROR and beyond! There, he would meet James Cameron and would work on films like THE TERMINATOR and THE ABYSS! We walk through Ernest's career, which included working on John Carpenter's ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK and THE THING as well as doing effects and main title sequences for a variety of New World Pictures films from the Corman era to the next ownership group! We discuss the difficulty of bats in SATURDAY THE 14TH and Sybil Danning's costume in the TV edit of BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS, the tricky ending of DEATHSTALKER, having lots of time and no time to work on the title sequences for GODZILLA 1985 and PRETTY SMART, and how Ernest's work on TAG: THE ASSASSINATION GAME may have played a key role in casting for THE TERMINATOR! Also, Ernest explains how he dealt with Arnold Schwarzenegger's biggest, erm, muscle, and how he was able to get away with saying "no" to James Cameron! Ernest provided us with tons of stories, including about his directorial feature debut, STEEL AND LACE, which NWPPVIPs know is a film we love! Don't miss this wide-ranging and fascinating trip through Ernest's huge career that's filled with behind-the-scenes stories that you won't want to miss! For more about the New World Pictures Podcast, including previous episodes, t-shirts, mugs, sweatshirts, other merch and more, we DARE YOU to head here: https://newworldpicturespodcast.com/For all the shows in Someone's Favorite Productions Podcast Network, head here:  https://www.someonesfavoriteproductions.com/

A low-budget warm-up to Aliens. A rescue party is sent to investigate a crashed vessel. Tentacles keep popping out of places. An unseen force kills off the the landing party one-by-one, using their greatest fears against them. It's a pyramid, just like the ones in Egypt. Coincidence? If you've ever read Sphere by Michael Crichton or watched the movie adaptation, you kinda get the idea. The guy who plays Freddy Krueger doesn't get killed, but also doesn't make it to the end of the movie. WHERE DID HE GO?? Galaxy of Terror Final Grades Steve: James Cameron works magic on a Roger Corman budget. A likeable movie with better set dressing, costumes, direction and production than Ol' Rog usually gets. 4.2897/5 Brandon A not-as-scary space thriller. Missing a bit of psychological aspect that could have made up for a evil creature/force that's barely on camera. But, overall, a pretty good movie. Mostly a fun watch. 4/5 Cocktail of the Week: Trader Steve's Lemon Gin Refresher 1 1/2 oz Old Tom Gin 3/4 oz Limoncello 1/2 oz Fresh-Squeezed Lemon Juice Trader Joe's Lemon & Ginger Seltzer Pour the gin, limoncello, and lemon juice in a Collins glass over ice. Stir to combine and top with the seltzer. Cocktail Grade: A very refreshing spin on the classic Collins. Good flavor. Easy to drink. r0b's back with Papa Stank as they finish out B-Movie month with, YET ANOTHER, Roger Corman ALIEN knock-off - GALAXY OF TERROR!!! Why is this more James Cameron's film than B.D. Clark's? If this is an ALIEN knock-off, why is r0b spending so much time talking about STAR WARS??? What's maggot-intercourse like? (SPOILER: It's gooey and life-threatening.)

New episodes broadcast live on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/sotdcast On this week's episode, the guys take off-topic rambling to whole new levels. Gardening! Air-conditioning! The Monarchy! Speedrunning! Everything-but-horror-based-chat? You betcha. But it's all fun, inane nonsense the likes of which, our loving audience, have come to love. Right guys? Guys…? This week's homework was of course Galaxy Of Terror, and this 2+ hour behemoth of an episode wouldn't be complete without an in-depth analysis of weird horror movies no one has seen. Galaxy has a very interesting premise, and we all agree a lot of the elements in here could have made a good movie. Unfortunately, we have… this. One thing's for sure, Cabren is now the Master. Whatever that means. Welcome to Year Three of You’re Gonna Love This… or Not…! For those who have just joined us, this podcast features Matt, who loves watching bad movies in his basement, and Josh, who loves giving Matt grief for his love of bad movies. Every month, Matt is going to bring Josh down to his Subterranean Fun Pit (aka, his basement) and show him one of his favorite bad movies, hoping to find one Josh loves, or at least likes a little bit. On occasion, they bring in guests. During the pandemic, they continue this tradition using the powers... of the internet! This month, Matt, Josh, an Producer Mike are joined by CineMental Podcast's Steven Hovke to watch the 1981 Roger Corman produced Galaxy of Terror. This 1981 film involves a space rescue crew who meet up with horrors projected by their own imaginations. Will they enjoy the film? Will they actually only talk about it for about twenty minutes before moving on to other topics? Sit back, put in your earbuds, don't leave your house unless you need to, make sure you have your mask on over your mouth and nose in public, and let them fill your ear holes as you find out what they think! NOTE: You’re Gonna Love This… or Not… contains harsh language, and reviews R-rated films, so it is not suitable for younger listeners. Another Corman feature that was heavily influenced by "Alien" and even "Empire Strikes Back" to a degree. A rescue mission turns into a fight for survival on an alien world as a mysterious figure known as the Master plays an interesting and dangerous game with an unsuspecting crew. A great movie on a tight budget. This film feature some well known talent with the likes of Robert Englund, Edward Albert, Ray Walston, and Sid Haig. This movie also mark the directorial debut of James Cameron as the second unit director and production designer. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rabidcandypodcast/support

We're back! We made good use of our time off gathering up fresh young co-hosts. This week we welcome Liam and Lauren to the show and break them in with the 1981 Corman sci-fi/horror flick "Galaxy of Terror". Will the star power of a Happy Days actress and early performances by relatively young Sid Haig and Robert Englund be enough to win them over?
