Hey everyone! I'm so excited to share this episode all about rubber band emotions. As the LDS mission coach, I've noticed that emotions play a huge role in our lives, especially for those preparing for, serving, or returning from a mission. One of the key things I've learned is that trying to avoid or postpone uncomfortable emotions is like trying to hold a rubber band stretched out - it just creates more tension and pressure until it snaps back. Instead, I encourage you to lean into those emotions, give them a name, and let them move through your body. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but I promise it's so much better than the emotional letdown that can happen when we try to ignore what we're really feeling. Whether you're a future missionary, a current missionary, or a returned missionary, I hope this episode will empower you to embrace the full range of human emotions. Remember, there are no "good" or "bad" emotions - they're just information your brain and body are trying to give you. So let's dive in and learn how to process those rubber band emotions with grace and self-trust. I can't wait to hear your thoughts! As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. I know this work will help missionaries around the world and it would mean so much to me if you did. A breath to welcome this beautiful new day. PAUSE Draw in another breath, and as you do, feel joy and a sense of playfulness rise up in you. Feel a smile forming on your face. PAUSE Now, open yourself  to the beauty of imagination. Take a breath, and visualize a beach, on a stunning summer day. PAUSE Now, using that wonderful imagination, scan the beach, and as you do, notice that you have a shape, a rounded shape. You are a brightly colored beach ball. PAUSE Now, breathe,  and see yourself, rising high in the air, after a child tosses you toward the clouds. The clouds are beautiful against the turquoise sky. PAUSE Now, imagine, just as you are about to land, a strong breeze blows, and sends you skipping  up and down over the shoreline. PAUSE After a few moments, the breeze lifts you high into the air. You can see everything. PAUSE As the breeze softens, you float down. only, instead of landing on the sand, you land in the waves. Waves that gently rock you to and fro. Waves that carry you out to the deep blue sea. PAUSE Now, draw in a deep breath, and allow yourself to enjoy floating in the water. You notice the seabirds that fly by, wondering what you are. You notice the fish that swim around you, occasionally nudging you with their snout out of curiosity. And you see the dolphins that bump you with their noses in loving play. It feels absolutely wonderful. Absolutely freeing. PAUSE And, as you float with the current, out farther and farther to sea, there is no fear, no sense of being lost, no worry. Instead, as you gaze at the blue water before you, there is a sense that your adventure is just beginning. Enjoy it. NAMASTE, BEAUTIFUL

Whole 09: Let Go of the Beachball + What Forgiveness Is (And Isn't)

Risen Motherhood

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 3, 2024 26:34

Let's talk about the elephant in the room when it comes to the Christian life: forgiveness. It's hard, right?! But as we see with every command God gives us, the act of forgiveness is for our own good and flourishing. Many of us have seen how unforgiveness doesn't stay contained; it seeps out until it permeates a lot of areas of our lives, including motherhood. That's why Emily and Laura spend this show taking a hard look at forgiveness: what it is, what it isn't, and why it matters. In this world, we will have trouble—but our Redeemer has overcome it all. In him, we find the power and freedom to forgive as we've been forgiven. *Note: We know this is a broad topic and understand we couldn't possibly cover all of the intricacies and experiences at play for you personally. Our hope for this show is to provide you with a few thought-starters and Scripture references to understand forgiveness, but if needed we encourage you to reach out to a trusted friend, pastor, or counselor to speak into your personal situation and circumstances as you work through forgiveness in your own relationships. So, go ahead and make yourself comfortable. Then pucker up for the eclectic and always trippy sounds of Florida's Freeda Sol, and then prepare yourself for a steep-yet-eclectic ascent -- launching from the vibe-setting bass guitar riffs of Pietro Over Jack's "Deeply Sol" and bouncing through to a strong finish propelled by Joris Voorn's remix of the classic tune "Beachball" by Naline & Kane. Along the way, you'll enjoy the warm embrace of soundscapes that are sometimes techy, other times groovy and always soulful. XOXO Tracklist: 1. Deeply Soul (Original Mix). – Pietro Over Jack 2. How To Undo Deep-Seated Repression & Resolve Inner Conflict

There's a pervasive myth in society today, especially among high achievers. And that myth is that repression is a reliable and sustainable tool for success.  Why is this myth so pervasive? Well, this strategy sort of works in the short-term, fooling high achievers into thinking that it's a sound strategy.  But over time, as your protective parts work harder and harder to repress these nasty emotions, they end up resurfacing and causing more trouble than they ever did. This is what leads to isolation, loneliness, burnout, and a sense that you'll never experience true joy.  So, what's the solution?  In this episode, I lay out the 5 ironclad steps to stop repressing your emotions, to become more present with yourself (and with others), and to create deep connections with your friends and partner.  The result?  Instead of inner conflict, you'll feel inner harmony and bliss—something many high achievers never achieve for long. And you'll be able to experience true and lasting love, happiness, and fulfillment.  So, what are these 5 ironclad steps to undo your deep-seated repression and unlock harmony and bliss instead?  Listen now to find out!   Show Highlights Include: The counterintuitive way repressing your emotions leads to burnout (even though it seems like it would prevent burnout) (0:43)  The “Beach Ball” effect repressed emotions have which makes them surge into your life at the worst possible moments (1:25)  How to align your emotional and rational selves to to unlock true and lasting love, happiness, and fulfillment (2:15)  Why ignoring your exiled parts actually causes them to dominate your psyche, emotions, and behavior (6:44)  How appreciating and loving your shameful shadow parts makes them give their power to you (9:45)  Do you push people away whenever they get too close? Here's how to finally stop doing this… (15:39)  Why working with your exiled parts on your own is a recipe for retraumatizing your protective parts and sabotaging your emotional health (21:54)  Does your neediness, fear, or insecurity sabotage your success with women? Do you feel you may be unlovable? For more than 15 years, I've helped thousands of people find confidence, fulfillment, and loving relationships. And I can help you, too. For this October 1st of the Month Bonus Episode, we have our next edition in the “Spotlight on Exceptional Property Managers'' series, presented by Casago, welcoming Ginger & Hunter Harrelson - Owners of Beachball Properties - a family-owned vacation rental and property management company servicing the Alabama Gulf Coast that offers a premier selection of condos, duplexes, and private homes in Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Fort Morgan.Prior to founding Beachball Properties, Hunter was in finance and Ginger was working for a big law firm - which isn't a common mix of backgrounds for founders of vacation rental businesses. The way Beachball Properties began was with Hunter & Ginger cashing out their corporate 401k's, selling their house and boat to purchase a small, local vacation rental business that kickstarted their industry journey.Beachball Properties have grown to over 270 properties under management, and managed to do so within 7 years - which is no common feat!. Ginger & Hunter attribute their growth to their community involvement, building both their personal brands and the company brand on social media, and the fact that they had a scrappy and aggressive marketing strategy from day one in a market where their competitors were not utilizing these channels. One of the biggest mistakes that Beachball Properties made early in their growth journey was coming into the market which had an established 22-23% commission rate from bookings and disrupting the market by offering an 18% commission plan. While it made a ton of sense to take that approach initially, it started a race to the bottom cutting into the profits of all of the local homeowners and property managers. When asked about the biggest challenges that Beachball Properties currently face, Hunter unveiled that In May of 2022, Beachball started building their very own laundry facility which has been an intense and demanding project, but one that is going to be ready soon and will be a gamechanger for them. Ginger speaks on the fact that with over 270 properties under management, they can no longer market themselves as the little guy which means they need to change their messaging - and that will be a difficult task especially since the current messaging is working so well and they have no intentions of losing their existing stream.Check out the full episode to hear the full story of Beachball Properties! 02:02 How Ginger & Hunter Met06:52 How Beachball Properties Came To Be10:43 Being Involved With The Local Community 14:22 Scaling Through Scrappy Marketing26:03 Beachball Properties Biggest Mistake33:48 Ginger & Hunter's Approach to Industry Events38:43 Biggest Challenges In 2023This episode is brought to you by Casago and Rev & Research!Connect with Hunter:Website | LinkedinConnect with Ginger:Website | LinkedinConnect with Alex and Annie:Alex Husner | Annie HolcombeAlexAndAnniePodcast.com

Fed hikes have left #silver like 'a beach ball under water' It's been an interesting year in the silver market, where demand for physical metal has grown throughout 2022, while the price has spent a lot of time below the $20 mark. Obviously #theFed's rate hikes and quantitative tightening have had a lot to do with that, as we've seen almost all of the markets sell off significantly due to this reduction in liquidity. However as Ron Branstetter of the 'Ron's Basement' youtube channel points out, the Fed's policy, along with the supply and demand fundamentals of the silver market have left the silver price like 'a beach ball under water.' So in today's call with Ron we talk about how these divergent forces are being balanced in the market, and perhaps more importantly, how they will play out going forward. Especially with the Fed's meeting announcement on Wednesday of this week, we will be getting some more clues as to their policy going forward, which will continue to have a significant impact on not only silver, but all of the financial markets.
