This week it's a 4.5 hour special edition of Regional Rasslin, as we present a special 3-Part episode all rolled into one MEGA edition of the program. Information so fun and detailed that we wanted to share it with the territory era fans, as we sift through Ole Anderson's book "Inside Out: How Corporate America Destroyed Professional Wrestling". Bob Roop discusses the business practices of Ole Anderson and Jim Barnett in Georgia Championship Wrestling in the early 1980s. We go deep behind the scenes as first, we discuss Ole's expansion into Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia. How it all came about, dealing with the Sheik & Vince McMahon Sr., the power of cable TV, making syndicated TV deals, the cities & average revenue! Then, we dive into Ole's thoughts on promoter Jim Barnett, accusations on Barnett skimming money off the top across all the cities, crooked State Athletic Commissions, Fire Marshals. From there we talk the many issues between Ole Anderson and Jim Barnett. Ole's accusations of Jim Barnett stealing money from the Georgia territory, Anderson removing Barnett of his financial "duties", and how the slow takeover of Vince McMahon begins! Finally, we discuss the Vince McMahon buyout of Georgia Championship Wrestling, the wrath of Jim Barnett, Ole Anderson's response, the Brisco "Blood Oath", the end of an era at WTBS, Black Saturday, & more!FOR MORE 70s & 80s WRESTLING HISTORY DISCUSSED WITH BOB ROOP, PLEASE TUNE INTO "THE WRESTLING STOOP" PODCAST, new episodes drop Thursdays at midnight (est).Ole's book is available on Amazon, and through Scott Teal at Crowbar Press at https://www.crowbarpress.com/cbp-books/01-oa.htmlPlease Subscribe to our Patreon to help pay the bills, https://www.patreon.com/wrestlecopiaIncludes the $5 “All Access” Tier & $9 "VIP Superfan" Tier featuring our VIDEO CASTS, Patreon Watch-Along Series, our insanely detailed show notes (for the Grenade, Monday Warfare, Regional Rasslin, Puro Academy, & Retro Re-View), Early Show Releases! REGIONAL RASSLIN' BONUS EPISODE - A Dangerous Conversation with Gene Jackson interviewing "Wildfire' Tommy Rich & Doug Gilbert. The topic this week is the legendary feud between Rich & Buzz Sawyer!!! If you were a fan of Georgia Championship Wrestling in the early 80s, there was no feud more talked about or more memorable than Tommy "Wildfire" Rich vs. "Mad Dog" Buzz Sawyer. As most folks know, this feud came to a head in a famous steel cage match that would be known as the "Last Battle of Atlanta". The match is memorable for many reasons. One of the reasons is the cage itself, it was unique in the fact that it was a steel cage that also had a chain link top that would go on to inspire the WWE's HELL IN A CELL cage years later. It's also famous because for decades it was believed that no footage of this match existed, it was the holy grail of the pro wrestling tape traders from the VHS days into the DVD days. But mostly it was memorable because it was an exclamation point on a violent and bloody feud that lasted over two years. This week, Doug & Tommy discuss the feud with Buzz Sawyer and everything that led up to it, the match itself, and even a few things you may not remember that happened after it. The Whiskey Rebellion is back baby! This iteration brings back host Mark Radulich with new Co-Host Pat Mullin! Tonight's topics include our Old School 1970s Pro Wrestling Discussion. We'll discuss legends like legends like Dusty Rhodes and Bruno Sammartino.Virgil Riley Runnels Jr. (October 12, 1945 – June 11, 2015), better known as "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, was an American professional wrestler, booker, and trainer who worked for the National Wrestling Alliance and the World Wrestling Federation, later known as WWE. Rhodes was considered a star wrestler and presented the persona of an American everyman, the American Dream personified. Rhodes is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time.Bruno Leopoldo Francesco Sammartino (October 6, 1935 – April 18, 2018) was an Italian-American professional wrestler. He is best known for his time with the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). Widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time, Sammartino's 2,803-day reign as WWF World Heavyweight Champion is the longest in the championship's history as well as the longest world title reign in WWE history. The Universal Wrestling Federation was a 1986 re-branding of wrestler-turned-owner Bill Watts' Mid-South Wrestling promotion. Watts' goal was to elevate his promotion from a relatively smaller, regional-level business, to a national-level rival of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now known as WWE). However, Watts' business strategy quickly swung from "overnight" success to catastrophic failure, resulting in the 1987 sale of the UWF to another rival: Jim Crockett Promotions (owner of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA)'s most important championships, and the predecessor of World Championship Wrestling). The promotion began as an NWA territory, NWA Tri-State, founded by Leroy McGuirk in the 1950s. Tri-State/Mid-South/UWF promoted in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi until 1987.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

In this episode we explore the early years of World Championship Wrestling (WCW), from its origins in Georgia Championship Wrestling and Jim Crockett Promotions, to its purchase by Ted Turner, and the golden age of stars like Ric Flair, Sting, The Road Warriors, Lex Luger, Big Van Vader, and more!
A jam packed Eyes Up Here features Francine's full review of Darkside of the Ring's Season 5 finale on the infamous Black Saturday. Black Saturday saw Vince McMahon overtake the Georgia Championship Wrestling territory and time slot directly from the empire that help build it. Complete with double crosses, blood-oaths, death threats and bruised egos. We also cover a viral tweet that tries to throw shade at wrestlers who try to make a living on the Indies but "The Queen of Extreme" has a defense for her industry and takes her argument to the EXTREME! Dave Meltzer returns to talk about the legacy and career of the late, Ole Anderson, who passed away at home last week at the age of 81. Dave and Chris talk about how Ole became an “Anderson,” and started teaming with Gene Anderson as “The Minnesota Wrecking Crew” in 1968. They talk about Ole's legendary feud with the great Dusty Rhodes, and how he later ended up in the Four Horsemen with Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard and Ric Flair. They also discuss his career as booker and eventual owner of Georgia Championship Wrestling, including the debacle of the Black Scorpion & Sting angle, the secret (and hostile) takeover and purchase of the promotion by Vince McMahon and The Briscoes, and how Ole didn't see the talent in Ricky Steamboat, Randy Savage or Hulk Hogan! They cover his time in WCW, and his difficult relationships with Eric Bischoff, Jim Barnett, Bobby Heenan, and Vince McMahon.
