Another super fun Memphis 85 edition of Regional Rasslin', as Gene Jackson returns as guest co-host. This week we talk March 30th TV through April 5th on the CWA circuit. The Macho Man's reign as Southern Champion intensifies when he puts Jerry Lawler out on a stretcher, into an ambulance, and off to the local hospital. Will the King ever return to Memphis? Lanny Poffo dons his infamous suit of armor... in front of a castle... to recite a poem... in tornado like winds... Plus, Stan Lane takes a jab at Randy Savage in hilarious fashion. The PYT Express continue dominance as Koko Ware finds another victim for his epic Brainbuster. Sweet Daddy Siki returns for his second week of TV as he takes on (and confuses) The Invader. Eddie Gilbert has a big surprise for Dutch Mantel. Steve Constance has ONE move to do... and even messes THAT up. A rare TV win for the Batten Twins. The Pom-pom girls are in town just as Lawler leaves.. coincidence? Prelim wrestler Gary Jackson hails from where??? Nepotism continues as booker Tom Renesto's OTHER son "Tom Branch" arrives. Other action with Mike Sharpe, Jerry Oski, and so much more. It's a most hilarious edition of Regional Rasslin' this week as Guest Gene Jackson returns to talk more Memphis 1985 with Ray Russell. The duo have even more fun than usual... Plenty of laughs as well as your typical Memphis history lesson as they talk the week of March, 23, 1985. SWEET DADDY SIKI arrives to the CWA and turns babyface in record time! The PYT Express are in studio, find out which is the "Pretty Young" and who is the "Thang". Jerry Lawler seeks revenge and the return of his Southern Title from Randy "Macho Man" Savage. Speaking of "Mach", Savage presents his newly won belt on a silver... or rather a GOLDEN platter! But it doesn't end there as Randy proceeds to have the most SAVAGE of squash matches against poor David Johnson. From there, Stan Lane shoots on ring rats. Tux Newman continues to impress (or is it DE-press?) with his questionable comments. Harley Hogg may have SHAT himself. Tommy Gilbert's droopy mask. Speedy Tall Tree busts out an Undertaker dive (that nobody sells). ALL OF THAT, and so much more.... it's LAUGHS GALORE this week! Please Subscribe to our Patreon to help pay the bills, https://www.patreon.com/wrestlecopiaIncludes the $5 “All Access” Tier & $9 "Superfan DELUXE" Tier featuring our VIDEO CASTS, Patreon Watch-Along Series, our insanely detailed show notes (for the Grenade, Monday Warfare, Regional Rasslin, Puro Academy, & Retro Re-View), Early Show Releases, REMASTERED editions of the early Grenade episodes including NEW content! Here is episode 82 of John Arezzi's Pro Wrestling Spotlight podcast, reviewing the June 12th, 1993 broadcasts of Pro Wrestling This week on WNYG in Babylon NY, and the evening show PWS heard on WEVD AM in NYC. On this episode Marsh and I take a look back at these two shows, with special guests Stan Lane of the Midnight Express (on the WNYG Show) and Mat Watch's Steve Beverly on the evening show, with Steven DeAngelis from the Starlite Foundation (who later became a ring announcer for ECW) in the studio. I address a very negative column written by Bruce Mitchell of the Pro Wrestling Torch on both programs, addressing his "An Observer No More" piece that slammed all of those associated with the new 900#, and in particular my beginning to promote shows, while being a journalist. Steve Beverly weighs in on Mitchell as well. Don Laible has the news capsule, callers, commercials and more. The Midnight Express was already a highly decorated, veteran unit before Jim Cornette ever came along. With founding members Dennis Condrey, Randy Rose, and Norvell Austin, the Midnight ran rampant as the top heels in 2 different territories long before Mid-South.
