The future of credit for the young, or just another way of getting into debt? Would you pay for a product now, when you could simply delay payment for free? Ever since the pandemic forced millions of us to stay at home, millions more of us have been buying goods online using a new form of credit. Buy now, pay later offers goods interest free and it's proving very tempting to many younger shoppers. But is it just a new form of debt trap? Ed Butler speaks to Nick Molnar co-founder of Afterpay and Sebastian Siemiatkowski, the cofounder and CEO of Klarna, the Swedish based firm that's now the world's biggest buy now pay later provider. He also hears from Alice Tapper of personal finance forum Go Fund Yourself who says regulation is desperately needed to protect younger consumers. Plus Amber Foucault from the consumer spending analytics company Cardify who says that until global regulation comes in, we should watch out for many younger customers getting into financial trouble using this system. My guest today on Informed Choice Radio is Alice Tapper, the Founder of Go Fund Yourself, an online platform and community which makes personal finance relatable. She also works with start-ups and financial institutions to help them develop new products and communications. Previously, Alice was a management consultant. She has a degree in Economics and an MSc in Behavioural Economics. Her new book Go Fund Yourself isn't about cutting back on coffee or walking to work and it definitely isn't about becoming a bazillionaire overnight. Alice doesn't believe in telling you what you should and shouldn't spend your money on. Instead, her book combines time-tested, expert advice with fresh insights into how money works today and how you can earn, spend and invest your way towards living your best life. Through the lens of five topics: Learn it, Earn it, Start it, Spend it and Invest it, Alice covers all the essentials that we should have been taught at school, but weren't. Here's my conversation with Alice Tapper, author of Go Fund Yourself, in episode 437 of Informed Choice Radio.

Shhh, Jacki is sleeping and Lorraine is in California. This is a totally time travelly type of episode. The guest is Josh, or Pinkman, or Bro. This blog, if you read it, is just an attempt to decipher the notes that Jacki took during the show. - The Pints have started a secret society and it requires a special tattoo on you ankle that will help you identify other members. - This new secret society will also have a special walk, much like the Crips Gang has Crip Walking. - When you reach level 10 of the secret society, you become and ordained deacon, and are awarded sex sandals. - When you reach level 15 of the secret society, before you can be formally advanced, you must beat Helga at beer pong in the back of a strip club. - In order to advance to level 20, you must complete Lorraine's Comedy School. - At level 25, you will be awarded a plaque with digital boobs. - In order to advance to Level 30, you must prove your value and raise money through a program called Go Fund Yourself. - If you reach level 32, you will become an honorary Frat Bro - No one knows how many actual levels there are, but the grand boobah/high priestess can be identified at any secret meeting by her Hello Kitty Frog robe.
