The International Six Days Enduro race is considered the Olympics of dirt biking, and Jeff has completed 33 of them with 11 gold medals, 20 silvers and two bronze. It was his 34th and last year that he was not able to complete it, and being too old was not the reason. So how does this AMA Hall of Famer compete at this top level for decades, setting a record that will most likely never be matched? And after a feat like this, does he slow down? No, he's still racing at 68 in, of all things, ice racing. Jeff joins us to share his stories, his wins, his challenges and to talk about the KDX 200 that was such a big part of his career.

Ryan Sipes is a long time motorcycle racer. If you look at his official results in The RacerX Vault, 2004 is his first documented race. We're almost 20 years past that and he's still throwing a leg over a bike as a professional racer. His current situation does have him off the bike, which we talk a lot about. He injured himself back in January of 2021 while riding in Florida and he's had a lot of setbacks that he has had to overcome. The mental strength he's showcased while working through his recovery is a subject I wanted to dive into. We have other fun conversations about offroad techniques that helped him in motocross, leveraging the front brake, and how Hard Enduro is his quality pleasure. It sounds like Sipes is on the road to recovery and he'll be riding again soo. We can't wait to see him back on the bike, showcasing his depth of skill from flat track to deep woods racing. Fingers crossed there's also another ISDE in his future! If you want to hear more from Ryan Sipes on mental fitness, listen to his latest Power of the Mind Podcast with Phil Smage.Latest YT Video: https://youtu.be/UxpN60YSGCoDouble Blip Poster: https://shop.seattime.co/products/the-double-blip-hard-enduro-posterSupport Seat TimeBuy a Coffee: https://bit.ly/2WCKuBoShop: http://bit.ly/SeatTimeShopYoutube: https://bit.ly/3DBmyiKInstagram: https://bit.ly/seattimeInstagramEnjoy #GettingSeattime during 2023, Stay STOKED, and tag @seattime in your adventures.Support the show
Our guest on Episode 51 of the Rider Magazine Insider Podcast is Forrest Hobbs, who took a “purist” approach to completing the TransAmerica Trail. Hobbs lives in Denver, Colorado, and he bought a 1,200cc Yamaha Super Ténéré adventure bike, rode it 2,000 miles to Nags Head, North Carolina, rode the entire 6,200 miles of Sam Correro's TransAmerica Trail, added a couple thousand miles along the way to visit friends and family, and then rode from Port Ord, Oregon back home. Over 73 days, he logged over 12,000 miles. Hobbs used only roll charts for navigation and didn't even have a GPS as a backup, and he camped on the trail nearly every night. Hobbs is a passionate off-road rider. He didn't start riding motorcycles until he was 30, and he has competed in the Baja 1000, the Red Bull Romaniacs hard enduro, and the Idaho City 100 ISDE qualifier – and he's done each race twice. Hobbs' plan was to make the TransAmerica Trail as challenging as possible to test himself, to break himself down mentally and physically, and he prevailed. Why do we expect so much from our sponsors? Before we begin landing deals, we might think “I deserve this” But why do you deserve it over anybody else? The amount of effort you put into a sponsorship deal can result in a variety of ways. You can build a relationship, lose a relationship, or grow a relationship. It all comes down to what you are expecting to get out of the deal, and what you agree to when you sign the contract. But more often than not, the best sponsored athletes are the ones that focus on growth within the industry.Jared Stock is an amazing example of what it means to grow a relationship. He has faced many trials in his life, but some of the best opportunities manifested as he overcame those difficulties. Now he is flourishing and working with some amazing companies. You could even go as far as to say he is happy. But what keeps Jared moving is his drive to progress and move forward, and change can be good. We are stoked to share this 2 part episode. So stick around for both to get the whole story that will help you move to the next level.Enjoy!Be sure to join The Action Sports Club so you can learn how to land sponsorships and spend more time riding.
