In this episode of Escaping the Drift, host John Gafford interviews credit card points expert J.J. Todd. J.J shares the wild story of how he got into credit card points hacking, from leveraging Southwest companion passes in law school to renting over 600 cars in 3 months from Hertz for their United miles promotion. Listeners learn about J.J.'s record of earning over 3.4 million United miles and using them to take over $120,000 worth of flights. J.J.'s gives tactical advice on the best credit cards to use for different purchases and how to maximize points by transferring between different loyalty programs. It's a fascinating inside look at how to turn average 1% returns on credit cards into 20x more value by leveraging points strategically.Highlights:"If you do this the right way, if you have sort of those aspirational overseas, lie flat business class goals, it's not uncommon to take that 1% return that a lot of these credit cards are giving you and making it very easy for you to get in turning that into 3, 5, 10, sometimes 20x return.""I've used all those miles that I earned off, all 3.4 million miles are now gone. Sure. Got over $120,000.03 flights in value out of leveraging those points." "Depending on how your expenses blend out, you should be getting two and a half to three, maybe, you know, I think that's kind of a fair, if you're optimizing it, then not everybody has the bandwidth or tolerance to carry around seven credit cards like you you have there."Timestamps:00:00: Introduction02:07: Credit Cards09:20: Renting Cars For Points 14:30: Free Travel 22:53: Perks 31:50: Flight Milage 40:45: Luxury Experiences

J. Todd Anderson has been sharing his art with people since he was a young boy drawing pictures of super heroes for his mother’s friends to use on birthday cakes. Art classes in high school were a breeze for him, and as a grownup he continued developing his artistic talents taking film classes in college. He pursued a career in film and eventually connected with the Coen Brothers while they were making Raising Arizona. He was hired to storyboard the film, and found himself using both his art and film skills. Since then, he has storyboarded such films as, The Predator, The Nice Guys, Men in Black I, Paul, The Dictator, The Stepford Wives, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and many others, in addition to every Coen Brother Film since Raising Arizona. His career in the film industry includes directing two feature films, and acting roles in several films. His character was shot and killed dead while running through the snow in Fargo. See him in the original poster. Although he claims to be an alien sent to Earth to observe, he is existentially from Dayton, Ohio. See the the birthplace of aviation. According to J. Todd the best part of storyboarding is “when they send me the script and we have a good time drawing, and then when the movie comes out, the movie’s just as good as everything from the beginning.”   Order - The Official Storyboards from the Big Lebowski!   +++++ Be sure to SUBSCRIBE to the podcast to not miss an episode. On a special episode of "In-Depth" Jason interviews J. Todd Matthews, former administrator for NamUs and co-founder of The Doe Network. Recorded in October 2019, Jason and Todd discussed Todd's work in the true crime community, and how his help in a very cold case led people to believe that he may be the first cybersleuth in history. The two also discuss Todd's role at The Doe Network, and what he is doing to help the True Crime community post-NamUs. Also discussed is the George Hawkins case, which follows up our latest episode of TCCF on the Hawkins case. NOTE: Todd left NamUs at the beginning of 2020. Please pardon any present-tense discussion about his time at NamUs, as at the time of recording he was still employed by the program.  --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/truecoldcase/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/truecoldcase/support

Good luck! My mouth is as fresh as it gets 100% of the time, even after I eat garlic and box, which is always. Tonge scrapers?! I think my brush does a good enough job. What do you think?
