I need to warn you, there is a severe amount of common sense in today's show so listen at your own peril. Judge Jim Gray, the 2012 Libertarian candidate for Vice President, gives some of the best answers I've ever had on my show to so many of our country's problems. And he relates how Thomas Jefferson fits into the Libertarian conversation, and how a Libertarian would approach school choice, the war on drugs, war powers, and much more. The Judge also reveals what he thinks takes down our country (if we don't do something about it). A very enjoyable, hopeful conversation…for a change. So for a while now you've probably thought that the Larry Sharpe/Judge Jim Gray episode had been lost to the void. You probably thought that Derek deleted the episode. You were wrong. And so were we. This is an old episode that we were able to recover, back when we were interviewing libertarian party candidates. In this episode Kyle wasn't able to come because he had just ascended to Dad Lvl 2, so we had our buddy Jordan on instead. Judge Jim Gray was running as a Libertarian Party nominee for the presidency and Sharpe was his "hype man" (his words) wherein regardless of his running mate betraying libertarian principles he vowed to stand by his side for the good of the party. Unfortunately Gray had to dip out a little early but in the end it all worked out because Davie and Sharpe got into it after Gray left. We're happy to finally bring you this episode. There comes a time in every podcast's life where an episode is lost to the void. Sometimes that episode is an interview with libertarian celebrities and sometimes that episode is just an hour of non-content that no one cares about. Unfortunately for us, our first lost episode is the former. So instead of us talking to Judge Jim Gray and Larry Sharpe, we're giving you our bonus episode for free this week, and for our Patrons we'll give you an hour discussion that we had in Discord with our listeners about agorism, voting, and anarchists in politics. It goes without saying that we are living in unprecedented times. Leading up to a presidential election and being told to stay in our homes due to a pandemic quarantine has forced us all to live life very differently than we typically would. Because of this, all of the Libertarian conventions and campaign tours have come to a sudden screeching halt. With basically all LP debates being cancelled and candidates having far less abilities to get their names and their messages out to the people who need to hear them, I saw a hole and decided to fill it. Today's episode is our full panel 12 candidate digital 2020 presidential debate for Libertarian Party candidates. This debate was live streamed on our Facebook page on 04.24.2020 and has since received over 10,000 views and climbing. People WANT to hear what these men have to say. People WANT to hear from their options. This episode is the condensed version of that debate. The only things that were edited out are the discussions during intermissions and the AfterParty Q&A discussion, which will be made available to members of The Downers Club at Patreon.com/thesystemisdown. Let's do what the mainstream media refuses to do and help these candidates' messages of liberty be heard. Participating candidates in this debate were: Arvin Vohra, Jacob Hornberger, Judge Jim Gray, Adam Kokesh, John McAfee, Vermin Supreme, Dan "Taxation is Theft" Behrman, Ken Armstrong, John Monds, Sam Robb, Andy Williams Jr, and Kenneth Blevins. Mark Whitney was also scheduled to attend, but suspended his campaign shortly before the debate. I would HIGHLY encourage everyone to look into these candidates, find out what they stand for and why, and know that you DO have more options than the two bad ones that we're given. Politicians are discovering that Libertarian values have been awakened in more and more voters. Only a few years ago, the very word “Libertarian” was not part of the public conversation. How times have changed. Is this the start of a second American Revolution? Bob's guest, Judge Jim Gray, sure hopes so. Judge Gray was Governor Gary Johnson's running mate on the Libertarian ticket in the 2012 presidential election and our strongest proponent for a sane drug policy. He will also present his thoughtful views on health care, foreign policy, gun control, immigration, same sex marriage, drug legalization, and education.
