Dr. David Katz, President and CEO of Diet ID, joins Double Take to examine how GLP-1s may affect far more than weight loss—from food noise and addiction to healthcare costs, side effects and shifts in consumer behavior across sectors.
Bill Gates has some big regrets when it comes to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Yesterday, Gates testified to the House Oversight Committee about his past ties to Epstein. In a closed-door hearing, Gates said Epstein attempted to leverage information about Gates's extramarital affairs “to pressure me to re-engage with him” after Gates had begun to cut ties. Gates said he regretted meeting with Epstein, but had never seen Epstein commit criminal conduct, and denied victimizing anyone. He acknowledged the meetings were a “grave error in judgment” that risked his reputation and his philanthropic work. Meanwhile, Epstein‘s longtime former personal assistant is reportedly giving Congress some names of people connected to Epstein. This comes as the House Oversight Committee Chair is reportedly working to bring acting AG Todd, Blanche in to testify. We welcome former federal prosecutor, and now defense attorney, David Katz to talk about the new revelations and whether there may be any legal fallout. We are excited to talk politics with Russ Baker. He is the founder of news organization whowhatwhy.org Then, we'll find out what's new to sip and wear at Coachellavalleycoffee.com as Roastmaster General Cliff Young stops by the show.
The GOP-led House is behind a largely symbolic measure directing the president to remove U.S. forces from active hostilities with Iran unless Congress authorizes force or declares war. Four Republicans joined all Democrats in supporting it. The vote follows earlier attempts that stalled out. It also builds momentum for a related effort in the Senate. The White House is raising objections saying the move could weaken negotiations. The House also advanced a separate motion to bring Ukraine aid to the floor. Mo Kelly will discuss the idea that this vote signals growing congressional resistance, even within Trump's party. Former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney, David Katz will stop by the show to offer his legal expertise on whether Todd Blanche will be able to get confirmed as AG and whether Trump‘s immunity from IRS audits will withstand legal scrutiny.
Now threats to blow up Oman are coming from Trump. He is warning Oman to abandon talks with Iran about jointly charging a toll for ships in the Strait of Hormuz saying, “Oman will behave just like everybody else or we'll have to blow them up.” Mark will discuss Trump's latest threat, the rejected toll plan, the diplomatic ties between Oman and Iran and the U.S. military posture proposed to keep shipping open, and of course, dig into the regional and global risks if tensions escalate. Trump's Iran war is bringing disastrous global economic consequences.Dr. Bill Black will stop by to share his thoughts. He is a professor of economics and law at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and author of “The Best Way to Rob a Bank is to Own One.” Trump‘s Department of Justice is now opening an investigation into E. Jean Carroll, according to CNN. We will ask our legal expert, former federal prosecutor, and now defense attorney David Katz, about that and word that dozens of ex-judges are calling for a closer look into Trump's "anti-weaponization fund" settlement, calling it a "fraud on the Court"
Trump's sketchy new $1.776 billion “anti-weaponization” fund will operate through the end of 2028. It will be overseen by a five-member commission to be appointed by the acting attorney general. Fearing convicted and pardoned January 6th insurgents will be eligible for payouts, two Capitol police officers are filing suit to put a stop to it. The DOJ says the commission will decide an applicant's eligibility and payouts under a broadly worded “totality of the circumstances” standard. We welcome former federal prosecutor, and now defense attorney, David Katz to discuss the legality of what critics are calling Trump's Slush Fund, the attached ban on tax audits for Trump and his family, and whether this so-called settlement will stand up if scrutinized in a court of law. Mark has a conversation with journalist and political strategist Christopher Armitage.
President Trump is in China with a delegation drawing scrutiny across Washington: family members, billionaire tech allies and business figures appear front and center, while longtime China experts and senior State Department voices are far less visible. Is Trump on the verge of a corrupt deal for himself and his family that won't serve U.S. or historic interests? Is he prioritizing dealmaking and optics over diplomacy and strategy? Where are experienced American diplomatic voices at this pivotal moment? Mo Kelly is in for Mark Thompson and will discuss this and more. We welcome former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz to talk about the impending Trump deal with the IRS, redistricting battles headed to court and criticism of the Supreme Court. Then, we pivot to marijuana. Mark welcomes Dr. Peter Grinspoon. He is a primary care physician and a board-certified addiction specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Grinspoon's upcoming book is titled “Aging Well with Cannabis: Feel Better, Sleep Better and Live Better with Marijuana and CBD.” It's a culmination of his hard work to help ‘canna-curious' seniors, family members, and caregivers by providing practical instructions, real-life case studies, and a balanced view of the benefits and risks of cannabis and CBS.
There is a wild new twist in the Kash Patel story: The Atlantic reports that FBI Director Kash Patel has been traveling with and handing out self-branded bourbon labeled “Ka$h Patel,” making FBI events…interesting? The revelation arrives the same day news broke that the FBI opened a criminal probe into Atlantic reporter Sarah Fitzpatrick over an earlier story alleging Patel's excessive partying and drinking. We welcome former federal prosecutor, and now defense attorney David Katz to discuss what passing out branded liquor on official business could mean ethically and legally. We'll explore how the new allegation collides with the criminal inquiry into the reporter who first reported on Patel's conduct.
With a naval port blockade in progress and Operation Epic Fury under way, Trump & Company are ditching the leader of the US Navy. Secretary of the Navy, John C. Phelan, a wealthy financier who has held the post for one year, is departing the administration, effective immediately. They gave no explanation, but Politico reports it has to do with a large battleship that caused in fighting at the Pentagon. In his place, Undersecretary Hung Cao, a one time MAGA candidate is now the acting secretary of the navy. Phelan joins General Randy George in unemployment and becomes the second top military official fired this month, despite the ongoing war with Iran. Lawsuits and appellate decisions are flying this week. We welcome former federal prosecutor, and now defense attorney, David Katz to make sense of it all. Redistricting is a hot button issue in the state of Florida. We will check in with Jasmine Burney-Clark. She is the founder of Equal Ground, a group working hard to level the playing field and make sure the voices of all voters are counted.
Five articles of impeachment are being brought by Democrats against Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth. They will likely go nowhere because Republicans control the house, but they sure make a statement. The first article accuses Hegseth of violating his oath of office in overseeing an “unauthorized war against Iran and reckless endangerment of United States service members.” Hegseth is accused of war crimes for targeting civilians, breaking the rules of armed conflict, and the alleged mishandling of sensitive information in the “Signal-Gate” scandal. He is accused of obstructing congressional oversight responsibilities, in his alleged withholding of details on military actions and of abuse of power for “launching bogus investigations against certain elected officials for the express purpose of retribution.” Despite the serious nature of the charges, a Pentagon spokesman says it's “just another Democrat trying to make headlines. We welcome former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz to discuss this and more. Congressman Jared Huffman will stop by the show. He's the ranking Democrat on the Committee on Natural Resources and serves on the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. He has a lot to say about plans to drill for oil off the coast of California, stripping historical information from national parks and Donald Trump, Jr.'s rare earth start up. Plus, cupcakes! Christy from Suite106Bskery stops by to debut her new Mother's Day flavors and OMG do they look delicious.
Eager to learn more about vision rehab in neuro? In this episode, host Erin Gallardo, PT, DPT, NCS talks with optometrist Melissa Zarn, OD, FAAO, FNAP and occupational therapist David Katz, OTR/L, CBIS about current advances in neuro-visual rehabilitation and updates within the Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA). They describe how NORA's clinical skills fellowship program has evolved into a hybrid model with asynchronous online coursework plus in-person hands-on training across three levels, increasingly emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration among OTs, PTs, speech therapists, and neuro-optometrists. A major focus of the conversation is the role of the autonomic nervous system in post-brain injury visual symptoms such as light sensitivity, headaches, dizziness, and sensory overwhelm, and how tools like tinted lenses, environmental modifications, and team-based care can help calm the system and improve function. They also highlight new opportunities for PTs and OTs to deepen their vision rehab skills through NORA's annual conference, the growing community of practice within AOTA around neuro-visual remediation, and starter resources like NeuroCollaborative's vision rehab course for clinicians who want to go further in this specialty area. Pam Bondi is out as attorney general. Trump was reportedly not pleased with her performance on his retribution tour. She will be replaced for now by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. Trump's National address centered on plans to get out of his Iran War. He says America is “very close” to finishing its objectives and over the next two weeks, “We're going to hit them extremely hard.” He also referred to skyrocketing gas prices as a “short term increase.” Will Iran stop fighting just because Trump walks away? Does Trump realize that his war has affected multiple industries in a global economy? We'll examine the ramifications of Operation Epic Fury. Former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will stop by to talk about birthright citizenship, a judge putting a stop to the construction of Trump‘s new military grade ballroom and more.
Ever feel like you're doing all the right things…reading the books, listening to podcasts, consuming great content…yet nothing is actually changing? You're not lazy. You're not undisciplined. And you're definitely not lacking information. In this episode of Coming Up Clutch with J.R.™, J.R. sits down with Damon Lembi, 3x bestselling author, CEO of Learnit, and former elite athlete. Together, we confront a hard truth too many high-capacity men avoid: Learning without execution is a form of self-betrayal. This conversation goes beyond leadership theory and productivity hacks. It tackles identity, pressure, feedback, and why elite leaders consistently close the gap between knowing and doing, especially when the pressure is on. This episode is about one defining distinction: It's not win or lose. It's win or learn. In this episode, you'll hear: Why stress-driven, hustle-fueled performance feels productive but quietly drains your joy, clarity, and long-term impact The powerful distinction between being activated by pressure and being truly alive through purpose and connection How avoiding hard emotions doesn't protect you – it actually shrinks your capacity for joy, fulfillment, and purpose Why so many high performers struggle to access purpose when they've numbed or buried what's happening beneath the surface Why you can't think your way out of burnout, anxiety, or dark seasons and what it means to stabilize your nervous system first Simple, science-backed actions that help you regain clarity when life feels overwhelming KEY QUOTES "Get off your butt and do something. Take action. Don't be a victim." - Damon Lembi "Learning without doing is treason." - David Katz (via Damon Lembi) "If you make the move and you screw up… you didn't lose. Even Republicans know this is a mess. The lack of coherent information from Trump and his cabinet about his Iran War has some Republicans worried about an escalating fight and a loss of control. House Armed Services Committee chair Congressman Mike Rogers left a briefing saying members told defense officials they need clear details about Operation Epic Fury and offered warnings that troop movements in the Middle East should be “thoughtful and deliberate.” This as public support for Trump's Iran War continues to drop. We'll have the latest on Trump's so called Iranian excursion. Former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will stop by to talk about the mail in ballot case before the Supreme Court, the DOJ deal to pay ex-Trump adviser Michael Flynn a million dollars and the verdict against Meta in a child exploitation case.
David Katz warns investors that they will pay “a lot more for stocks” after the resolution of the Iran war. He notes that historically, the market recovers quickly from conflict and thinks we're near the bottom. Names like Microsoft (MSFT) and Meta Platforms (META) are “attractive” on a 12-month outlook, he says, and highlights stocks like Generac (GNRC) and Qualcomm (QCOM).======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. The price of Trump's Iran war may be about to explode. The Pentagon is quietly pushing for a staggering $200 billion funding request to Congress—far beyond what's been spent so far—as U.S. and Israeli strikes intensify and weapons stockpiles run low. Inside the White House, there's doubt the request can even pass, and on Capitol Hill, resistance is already building. Lawsuits related to the Trump administration are flying. Former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will join us to examine the latest from the ongoing efforts by Trump to resurrect his tariff policies to the latest legal decisions on the retribution cases he had the DOJ bring against his foes.
An FBI alert warns that Iran could retaliate against U.S. military attacks by unleashing drones on the West Coast of America. According to SF Gate, Iran may deliver “drone strikes from an unidentified vessel stationed in an unknown and unconfirmed area off the coast of the United States.” California Governor Gavin Newsom said he has work groups addressing the potential threat and San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie says he's been coordinating with state and federal agencies. With 7 U.S. troops dead, almost 150 wounded, Iranian school girls killed in what appears to be a botched bombing based on outdated intelligence and now reports of threats against California, Trump's is not finding much support for his Iran War. Mark will examine and discuss. We welcome your comments in the chat. Ten FBI employees who worked on former Special Counsel Jack Smith's classified documents investigation into Donald Trump are now fired. It's a move that's raising serious questions about what's happening inside the bureau. We break down what's confirmed, what's disputed, and why this development could have major implications for the FBI's independence going forward. Former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will offer his analysis.
Police in the UK now have Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, in custody. The younger brother of King Charles III was arrested today. Thames Valley Police say he was taken in on suspicion of misconduct in public office and they are searching his addresses. Andrew appeared in the Epstein files in both emails and disturbing pictures, though his arrest appears to have more to do with allegedly divulging British trade secrets than assault. Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist and author David Cay Johnston makes a special appearance to discuss the wide ranging legal implications. Tensions between the U.S. and Iran are rising fast as Donald Trump signals a more aggressive posture that critics warn could push the region toward conflict. From military positioning and political rhetoric to the broader geopolitical stakes…Is America being drawn toward another Middle East confrontation? Is this strategic pressure, political messaging, or the early stages of a dangerous escalation? In the second hour, we welcome former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz to talk about everything from the Supreme Court grappling with issues of presidential powers to golfers suing Trump over a golf course takeover.
A stunning break inside Trump's own party as House lawmakers push back against his Canada tariffs in a rare bipartisan revolt, signaling growing tension between Congress and the White House over trade powers and economic fallout. With Republicans crossing lines and political pressure mounting, is this the first real crack in Trump's control — or just the opening move in a bigger showdown? What triggered the rebellion, what it means for markets and U.S.–Canada relations, and why this fight could reshape the political landscape in Washington. We welcome John Aravosis to the show. You may know him from the Americablog and the Aravosis Report. Aravosis is a political consultant, journalist, civil rights advocate, and an attorney. Thursday brings former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz to the show to weigh in on the biggest legal cases.
Trump says everyone is happy with a "framework" of a deal regarding the US and Greenland....but it seems he didn't really come away with anything at all. The United States already had an agreement with Greenland for military bases and troops to be on the island. So what was gained by all this posturing? Does Trump walk away trying to save face? We'll discuss it. Also, former Special Council Jack Smith is testifying before Congress today. We will listen in. Jessica Denson, host of the "Lights On" podcase will join us. Former Federal Prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will swing by to talk about the hottest legal cases pending in the US.
Protests flared in Minnesota after the second shooting involving federal agents. A federal officer shot a man in the leg yesterday during an attempted traffic stop about 12 miles from where an ICE officer fatally shot Renee Nicole Good last week. The Department of Homeland Security said the shots were fired after law enforcement officials were attacked with a shovel and a broom in the midst of a targeted traffic stop. The man federal agents shot was hospitalized with injuries that are reportedly non-life-threatening. Meanwhile, Trump is now threatening to invoke the "Insurrection Act" in Minnesota. We welcome Russ Baker, Editor of WhoWhatWhy.org to discuss politics. Former Federal Prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz offers a legal perspective on the latest big cases.
Dr. David Katz is a board-certified specialist in Preventive Medicine/Public Health. He is on the show to talk about the paper is was author on, titled, "A multiscale inflammatory map: linking individual stress to societal dysfunction". We talk about what stress and inflammation are, and the dynamics between them; how and why inflammation becomes chronic; how inflammation compromises perception and behaviour; how it can spread through a population like a contagion; how these spreading patterns of inflammation degrade our social systems, institutions, and leadership; how social media works as s supercharged networks for spreading inflammation; and what we can do about it, right here and now, starting within ourselves. Enjoy.
America is seeing the video from different angles of a woman getting shot to death by ICE. That means people know that Trump, Kristi Noem and others in the administration are not being truthful. On Truth Social, Trump wrote that the woman was being “disorderly”: “The woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense.” That is contrary to video evidence. If Americans realize that Trump is lying about what happened in Minnesota, perhaps people will start asking what other lies he is telling. We'll bring you the latest developments on the Minnesota case and discuss the legality of an ICE agent opening fire. Former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz will join. We will dig deeper into a series of cash infusions into some big banks. Economic and legal expert professor Bill Black will join us live.
After being snatched from his home country, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro appeared in a New York courtroom today. The President's address to the nation last night was a smorgasboard of his favorite hits. He railed against former President Biden and touted questionable economic numbers. He did announce a bonus for members of the military. His so called "Warrior Dividend" will be paid for by his controversial tariff policies, without the approval of Congress. We will talk about Trump's odd speech and about the latest release of pictures related to Jeffrey Epstein. Former Federal Prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz will join the conversation to talk about Friday's deadline for the Epstein Files and Ghislaine Maxwell's efforts to get out of her prison camp.
Blatant theft and an act of piracy. That's what Venezuela is calling the actions of the United States in the seizure of an oil tanker. The ship was leaving Venezuela when US Marines and Special Forces dropped down from a helicopter and took the tanker. It's the latest in a string of actions, including blowing up so called "drug boats", escalating a possible confrontation between the US and Venezuela. We'll discuss whether it was piracy or lawful with former federal prosecutor David Katz.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is taking heat from all sides. A growing number of members of Congress, both Democrat and Republican, are vowing to provide special oversight after his the "Kill Them All" order took out two people dangling from the wreckage of a boat off the coast of Venezuela. Whether the boat was being used by fishermen or to run drugs is at question, as is whether the men posed a clear and present danger to the United States. If allegations of war crimes in that case weren't enough, the result of Pentagon's Signalgate review conclude that Hegseth violated military regulations when he used the unsecure chat platform to discuss details of US strikes in Yemen. What are the legal ramifications, if any? We'll ask former federal prosecutor David Katz to weigh in.
The Trump Administration has 30 days to release the Epstein Files after Trump signed a bill requiring the information to be made public. There are some concerns that, at the urging of Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi opened investigations into any Democrats connected to Epstein in an effort to keep a lid on many documents. We will ask legal expert David Katz for his take. He is a former federal prosecutor and now a defense attorney in Southern California. He'll talk about the Epstein Files, the Comey Case and much more.
When the loudest voices in health are selling confusion, fear, and the next quick fix, it's hard to know what — or who — to trust. That's exactly why conversations like this one matter. Dr. David Katz has spent decades cutting through the chaos with uncommon clarity. A renowned physician, bestselling author, and one of the most influential thinkers in nutrition and preventive medicine, his work has helped millions rethink the very basics of how we eat and how we live. In this very special episode, he unpacks what determines human health, what real nourishment looks like, and why choosing it now is more radical — and more necessary — than ever. If you've ever wondered what's true, what's marketing, and what actually moves the needle on well-being, this is a must-listen conversation. What we discuss in this episode: The nutrition pattern humans are biologically built for. Why fiber is non-negotiable for long-term health. Why smart regulations save lives — and what happens when they're missing. How Big Food and Big Tobacco use the same playbook to keep us hooked. Methylcellulose: what it is, where it comes from, and why it's misunderstood. Why beef tops the list as the most environmentally destructive food. The fundamentals of longevity that anyone can put into practice. The biggest misconceptions most people have about staying healthy. Resources: https://davidkatzmd.com/ Dr. David L. There's panic at the White House now that Congress is back in session and the likelihood of a vote to release the Epstein files is high. The White House confirmed a meeting in the Situation Room between top Trump administration officials and a GOP lawmaker. Reports indicate Trump's staffers are trying to sway Representative Lauren Boebert not to vote to release the files. She confirmed she had a White House meeting and that the Epstein issue did come up. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said the confirmation of the meeting shows the administration is being transparent, but if they're really being transparent, why don't they just release the files? Mo Kelley, who sits in for Mark today, will explore. Former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will swing by to talk about key legal cases including Trump's effort to get the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn his civil verdict in the E. Jean Carroll sex assault/defamation case. And it's a cavalcade of legal experts as Ryan Clarkson enters the conversation to talk about holding big tech accountable when it comes to kids and AI.

He is a member of the firm's Investment Committee, and previously worked at Bain Capital and McKinsey. I am your host, RJ Lumba. We hope you enjoy the show. If you like the episode click to follow.
The United States hasn't tested nuclear weapons since 1992, but President Trump may be changing that. He is ordering Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and his “Department of War” to “immediately” start testing nuclear weapons "on an equal basis" with other nations. He is specifically trying to compete with Russia and China, but it has also been decades since those countries tested nuclear weapons. It's unclear if that means America will wait for any nuclear action before launching tests or not. Trump announced the move on Truth Social ahead of his meeting today with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea in what may have been an attempt to appear powerful. Court decisions on the matter of Trump sending National Guard troops into Portland and Chicago are pending. We will check in with former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz to get his thoughts.
Is America headed for war with Venezuela? On The Mark Thompson Show, we've been following the strikes against what the Trump Administration claims are "narco-boats" carrying drugs to the US and other countries. Though no proof has been offered in support of that, America continues to blast small boats off the coast of Venezuela to smithereens. So far, the US has blown up at least seven such boats, killing dozens of people. Trump is declaring an “armed conflict” with drug trafficking groups he has deemed international terrorists. He is also positioning dozens of warships, planes and thousands of U.S. troops in the Caribbean Sea. He admitted authorizing CIA covert operations in Venezuela. In addition, Trump is escalating tensions with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, saying he was illegitimately elected and is leading a narcotics cartel. Trump says he is ready to go further than blowing up boats: “we're going to stop them by land." All of this is raising concerns that the US could be marching toward war with Venezuela. With Trump poised to send National Guard troops into Portland and Chicago and threatening to do so in San Francisco, we will look at the court decisions preventing him from making such moves, for now. Former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz will explain. Nathan Taylor from Election Truth Alliance will stop in to update us on his work to shine a light on data he claims indicates possible trouble with the results of the 2024 election of President Trump.
In a show of what is supposed to be amphibious strength, the military is set to hold an event in California called “From Sea to Shore.“ It includes the possibility of live missiles being fired from Navy ships from toward Southern California. The military had planned to close stretches of Interstate-5 over the weekend between Los Angeles and San Diego, but now says the road will stay open. They're looking for a committment from Republicans that workers caught up in Trump's reductions-in-force will be rehired immediately. Author, journalist and scholar Sarah Kendzior will join us. We will look at Trump's efforts to send the National Guard into certain American cities and the long term implications. Sure seems like Qatar just got an offer of US protection in exchange for a $400 million luxury jet. Trump announced the gift of the new Air Force One a few weeks ago and he said there were no strings attached. Now we know he granted the oil-rich country a NATO-like defense guarantee. If Qatar gets attacked, the US will respond. It's like mafia rules on the world stage. Trump's order says: “The United States shall regard any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of the United States.” In other words, Qatar showed respect and paid for protection. It looks like they‘re family now. We'll discuss it with award-winning author, journalist, and scholar Sarah Kendzior. We will check in on the Supreme Court, from birthright citizenship to who Trump can and cannot fire. Former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney, David Katz joins.
Two county clerks in Missouri say they were contacted by Trump's Department of Justice. The clerks, both serving in Republican leaning counties, say the DOJ official wants access to Dominion voting machines ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The Missouri Independent says the DOJ official making the calls is Andrew McCoy “Mac” Warner who, while serving as West Virginia's secretary of state, falsely claimed the CIA and FBI colluded with Facebook' to steal the 2020 presidential election from Trump. We'll dig deeper into this story and see whether states are going to be able to keep the voting machines out of the hands of Trump's Administration or anyone connected to the big lie. Trump is now asking his friends on the Supreme Court to reverse a ruling on tariffs that found he made the moves illegally. We will ask former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz for his thoughts.
All of a sudden, Latin American drug cartels are such a pressing problem that the U.S. must deploy military assets? Trump, who has been using the military a lot lately, is ordering 3 warships to go on patrol along the South American coast. Like the recent use of the U.S. Marines and National Guard in LA and the National Guard in DC, it smacks of bringing out the big guns to distract and divert attention from his ties to the Epstein scandal. It's a double lawyer day on The Mark Thompson Show. Thursday brings former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz to the show. Dimitri Lascaris will swing by to talk politics. He is an attorney, journalist and activist. We'll ask him why he is motivated to create his popular Reason2Resist YouTube and Substack content.
Trump has a 30 day emergency time period to maintain control of policing Washongton, D.C. but he wants more time. To do that, he needs the approval of Congress. Now, he's saying he will be moving forward with or without approval from lawmakers. During his Kennedy Center honoree speech yesterday, Trump alluded to circumventing Congress multiple times, saying that if they failed to approve an extension, he would just declare a national emergency. We will ask our legal expert to weigh in on the legality of all of it. Former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will be in to discuss.
The fight over maps is getting uglier in Texas. There are threats to get the FBI involved in tracking down Democrats from the Texas State House who left rather than see Republicans hijack the midterm elections. Can they do that? We will ask former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz to weigh in. Spooked By mRNA technology, RFK Jr. is trying to turn back the clock on medical advancements. He is terminating 22 contracts meant to boost developing mRNA vaccines. He's also closing out other federal investments in mRNA technology, As the Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is supposed to be looking ahead toward future health emergencies, but is putting the brakes on the very same science that was crucial to moving us forward after Covid closed down the world. Save the planet? Yes, please. Eco-journalist Belinda Waymouth join for “It's the Planet, Stupid!”

In May, Trump was briefed and knew his name is all over the Epstein files. Since that briefing, the DOJ's move has been to seal the evidence and keep the public in the dark. Attorney General Pam Bondi's deputy, Todd Blanche (Trump's former defense attorney) are visiting with Ghislaine Maxwell — Epstein's longtime co-conspirator — in prison. It would seem a deal is in the offing. Meanwhile, Trump distracts by raging at Obama, and Tulsi Gabbard happily tosses more gasoline on the conspiracy bonfires about Obama. Award-winning journalist Gil Gross and former federal prosecutor David Katz join us to expose the cover-up, examine the legal risks, and track the growing panic among Trump's GOP allies
Suddenly, Trump and friends don't want to talk about Jeffrey Epstein or what happened to files and client lists that Trump and his conspiracy theorist supporters spent so much time demanding the release of. As MAGA turns on itself, calling for information from Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI leaders Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, Trump is now blaming Democrats. The President, who was very good friends with Jeffrey Epstein and who many have suspected would have his name all over those files, is blaming Presidents Obama and Biden and accusing them of altering whatever's in the files (the files he likely ordered Bondi not to release.) Trump now says Democrats must've tampered with them. It would appear like a preemptive strike from someone who knows his name will come up. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice just fired former FBI director James Comey's daughter Maureen, who served as the prosecutor in the case against Epstein. From an administration that prides itself on “transparency“ why does it look like a big old cover-up? Former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will swing by the show to talk about the termination of Maureen Comey and recent Supreme Court decisions.
It's unthinkable. At a time when Americans are dealing with a staggering loss of life and were in need of immediate help from the federal government, they got put on hold. Why were search and rescue teams not allowed to set up near the flooding until days after it started? Because Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem decided she needs to personally authorize all costly contracts. Her policy slowed down FEMAs response during a critical time. Meanwhile, good people are out of a job for nothing. DOGE eliminated National Weather Service jobs, but now Trump's nominee to lead NOAA says he wants to hire people to fill those jobs again. Does it seem like a leadership failure? We'll discuss. We'll also look at the latest legal cases with former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz.

Paramount, which owns CBS, will pay 16-million dollars to settle a lawsuit brought by Trump over the editing done to a 60 minutes interview with his then rival Kamala Harris. The interview aired on CBS' 60 Minutes before the 2024 election. CBS was not doing anything differently than usual, and they were not changing the tone and meaning of the interview. However, in this era of Trump threats, fear, and pressure, Paramount caved. The money will go toward Trump's presidential library and though na admission of wrongdoing will be offered, CBS will be required to publish transcripts of every presidential interview ftt to I'm now on. So why put the freedom of the press at risk with this outrageous settlement? Paramount is working to merge with Skydance Media, a deal that needs approval from the Trump administration. Presidential historian and political analyst John Rothmann joins the show to talk politics. Former federal prosecutor and now defense attorney David Katz will be in to discuss legal matters.
Attorney General Pam Bondi is claiming she's never heard reports of ICE agents covering their faces with masks during the round ups and arrests of undocumented people. At a hearing yesterday, the issue was raised by Michigan Senator Gary Peters and Bondi denied knowing about the masks but said of the agents: “I do know they are being doxxed … they're being threatened,” and “Their families are being threatened.” We welcome former federal prosecutor David Katz to the show to discuss this and more. Plus, a new anti-vaccine leader is being given a new job related to vaccine safety at the CDC. We'll talk to former CDC medical doctor and scientist.
