In Part Two, O and Zee identified the pattern of fear and behavior modification employed during the COVID crisis that is being resurrected to attack our food supply. Avian flu is now the next threat that has made headlines as chickens and cattle have been found infected with a strain of the bird flu. Supposedly two cattle workers have been infected. The process for testing for the bird flu in chickens and cattle is the discredited PCR test. Under the semblance of science, new panic is being fostered, much in the same way we witnessed with COVID, listeria outbreaks, and baby Tylenol shortages. In Part Three O and Zee look at the chameleons we call politicians, those who make claims to be principled thinkers who amazingly can switch affiliations as quickly as they change their suits. Justin Amash from Michigan is a primary example. While equating libertarianism with independent thinking, Amash rose to prominence in the Republican party as a speaker of truth to power. That meant rejecting an America First policy, and remaining silent during the COVID crisis. For a brief period after he left Congress, Amash painted himself as adherent to the principles of freedom yet reached across the aisle to progressives in some startling ways. These “outsiders” are presented to us to mislead us, and in the process we forget that Natural Law is the source of our liberty, not policy centers and talking heads. Skousen shares insights into his journey towards libertarianism, shaped by his upbringing in a conservative Democratic and Mormon family, and underscores the significance of individual liberty and maximum choice in both personal and business spheres, inspired by Adam Smith's principles.Skousen provides an in-depth look into the origins and evolution of FreedomFest, conceived during his tenure as president and CEO of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) in 2001. The event also features full presidential debates and a focus on pressing topics such as bitcoin. It's Wednesday, and David Waldman and Greg Dworkin are back with the news, views, and wishes for a happy Passover, and National Pigs in a Blanket Day for those of us with absolutely zero dietary restrictions. Fake news! Mint Press isn't the only one passing around stories too good to be true, more will be on the way. Syrian chemical weapons conspiracy theorists are being stoked to parrot Assad regime and Kremlin falsehoods. Protests spread across US campuses, and no one is more happy than the Gops. Mike Johnson leads the charge for photo ops at Columbia. Donald Trump gets teenier and tinier each day, while his problems only get bigger. His lawyers strategy of blurting out whatever has worn thin in just a few days. Now it has become not so nuts to start planning for a conviction. Speaking of nuts, whether Donald Trump castrated Republicans or they neutered themselves doesn't matter as long as they've been fixed. The Senate easily approved aid for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan while they were at it, and President Joe Biden signed off on it. If you thought Trump would be perfect with more cynicism and nihilism, meet J.D. Vance. Ace KITM Correspondent Rosalyn MacGregor reports from Michigan that Rebekah Curran figures her Ottawa County Commissioner experience would make her a perfect fit for United States Senator. Now she just needs 11,780 votes plus 3220 or so. The Republicans in the race include Mike Rogers, Justin Amash and Peter Meijer. Yes the Peter Meijer you've read about on the handle of your grocery cart. The Democratic candidate Elissa Slotkin remains narrowly in the lead. Soon to join their January 6 brethren and sistren up the river will be members of the Fake Elector Gang.

Glenn tears apart the argument that stealing an election to “save” the country is honorable. A new poll reveals how many people would commit voter fraud if it meant helping their preferred candidate. U.S. Senate candidate Justin Amash joins to discuss what the FBI could have told members of Congress to scare them into flip-flopping on FISA and whether Republicans should oust Speaker Mike Johnson. Will Trump have to skip his son's graduation because of his hush-money trial? In Washington D.C., Republicans are a hot mess – with two former Michigan congressmen waiting in the wings as a possible solution. In Michigan – a political shocker. Even as Democrats take full control of state government, Senator Debbie Stabenow drops a political bombshell. Michigan politics has been upended by the decision of Senator Stabenow to end a half-century of public service to, in her words, "I intend to begin a new chapter in my life that includes continuing to serve our State outside of elected office while spending precious time with my amazing 96-year-old mom and my wonderful family." The Michigan inauguration on January 1 not only launched the Democratic trifecta in Michigan State government, it cemented the prominence of women and minority group members in all the centers of political power within state government. Women are now Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Senate Majority Leader, Chief Justice, House Speaker Pro Tem, and chairs of both the House and Senate Appropriations Committee. Two more top leaders -- the Lt. Governor and Speaker of the House -- are African Americans, and the two Majority Floor leaders are am Indian-American and Middle East-American. In her two years hosting “The Argument,” Jane Coaston has changed her mind about many things — from court packing to police reform (though not on whether we should contact alien life). But this year, she has changed her political party; once a proud card-carrying member of the Libertarian Party, Jane is now a registered independent. And she isn't alone: Kyrsten Sinema, former Democrat of Arizona, just became an independent, and we heard from many listeners of “The Argument” with their own experiences of why they switched their political party affiliations. Now wading in new political waters, Jane really wants to know: What happens when your party leaves you behind? In the final episode of “The Argument,” Jane calls on former congressman Justin Amash of Michigan to help answer that question. While in office, Amash changed his party affiliation from Republican to independent, and then to Libertarian, which made him the first sitting Libertarian Party member in Congress. The two share strong opinions about what the Libertarian Party stands for today and discuss how political parties — whether big or small — should amass power.Mentioned in this episode:Elizabeth Nolan Brown's work at Reason.comJane's 2016 interview with then-candidate Gary Johnson(A full transcript of the episode will be available midday on the Times website.)
On today's episode, I'm joined riding solo, sharing my thoughts on Justin Amash's remarks at the LP of Illinois State Gala, where he proposed that Libertarians should take "democracy, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights" as their messaging differentiators when trying to sell our ideas. Is he right? I can't help but think that if we follow through with this strategy, we'll end up selling a lot of things that are not inherently Libertarian—the same way that "Hope & Change" was a message that appealed to many people who don't know what they're getting behind when they hear it. The truth is that most Americans aren't really interested in hearing about democracy right now—rather, they're interested in security and prosperity for themselves and their families. Personally, I don't think that message doesn't address either of those concerns, but you tell me... Does democracy sell? Let us know down below in the comments! Learn more about your ad choices. LIve FromThe Libertarian Party Convention Another from my series of recordings I made at the Libertarian national convention in Reno. Today we will hear from Justin Amash
Remember what it was like to live in a world where an American president would never dare say something as stupid as that the Continental Army took over the airports in 1776? Well, welcome to a rerun of the last day in history on which that was true. Just in: President Donald J. Trump is still dead. We hope to update this throughout the day. Justin Amash pronounces the party of Trump dead, and leaves the party. Meanwhile, The Trump administration frantically attempts to resuscitate their citizenship question for the 2020 Census. Or, like as in Trump's case, they will just pretend it's alive and hope to fool as many people as long as possible. David Waldman and Greg Dworkin spend their grill pre-heating and beer-icing time prepping us for… no, not the QAnonathon, you're better than that! Military parades are as dead as, well you know. Here's tanks for the memories. Today, let's keep America and patriotism alive by becoming more informed citizens. Smart investors support Elizabeth Warren. Warren keeps capturing Sanders' voters, and in Iowa she's out in front. A Pediatrician describes what she saw inside a border patrol warehouse. Cruelty is the point, and that point becomes sharper at Trump concentration camps each passing day. Who is in charge of delivering cruelty, and who is just following orders? A handy guide. Next week: A very short war in Iran.
"I think that the [Libertarian Party's] emphasis should be on getting us back to our roots as a country," says... The post Justin Amash's Vision for the Libertarian Party appeared first on Reason.com.
With the recent Mises Caucus takeover of the Libertarian Party in Reno, two of those scorned by the party decided to do a tell-all on a liberal leaning podcast. Joseph Bishop Henchman and Andy Craig appeared on the Neoliberal Podcast with Jeremiah Johnson to air their grievances and truly take name calling to a new level. This episode we break down their interview and the wild accusations of racism, white nationalism and other hate thoughts as devised and determined by these learned fellows. The problem is, no real evidence was supplied. This episode tries to counter the claims and show how the removal of Plank 3.5 of the LP platform was a good thing when people use it as a sword instead of a guiding principle. #davesmith #LMPC #neoliberal Show Segments: 0:00 Show Intro 0:59 Tyler's Intro 2:20: Marc Clair is a FED 5:03 Neoliberal Podcast with JBH and Andy Craig 7:04 Plank 3.5 as a weapon 8:33 Neoliberal Podcast intro 9:15 What happened to the LP 11:23 Who are Andy and JBH 17:03 Warped view of property rights 22:59 Anti-woke crusaders 26:02 Ilya Shapiro called racist by Ken White (5th Column) 29:41 CATO doesn't have Illya's back (5th Column) 31:15 All the evidence (white nationalist, Hitler praise) 37:00 Blowback for WWII 38:37 Micauc's doing what they are told 41:15 Mocking Ludwig Von Mises 42:00 Bob Murphy re Justin Amash & Mises quotes 48:19 Anti Trans 49:03 Pete Q on with Tyler Janke re: Trans 50:33 New Hampshire LP drama 52:10 LP Membership 54:21 White Supremacists history in the LP 58:30 Should you fight for the LP 1:00:41 LP is the future on the KKK 1:02:05 Bankrupt LP and a dying LP 1:02:56 Conclusions 1:04:50 Outro Show referenced Links Neoliberal Podcast - https://overcast.fm/+OF1xeRIkc 5th Column Podcast (Illya Shapiro) - https://overcast.fm/+5ch7witbM Hodey Johns (EP 4) - https://overcast.fm/+t_5iKFXbQ Bob Murphy - https://overcast.fm/+ViVMl-AiU/10:28 Blackbird w/ Thad Russell - https://overcast.fm/+4cs9ZXA40 DL (Libertydadpod) - https://youtu.be/SqR3Aw_QJOc JBH: https://www.ntu.org/foundation/about/staff/joe-bishop-henchman Andy Craig: https://www.cato.org/people/andy-craig LPR On Other Platforms Check out EP 1 for my origin story and what we are planning for this show. Learn Libertarianism - https://libertyexplained.com/ Subscribe to the podcast - https://link.chtbl.com/liberty-explained Video - https://youtu.be/iMfxmMLz1YQ • Well let's define "win". Win in the sense of receive the most electoral votes in a national Presidential election? No, there is an infinitesimally small chance the Libertarian candidate beats the Republican or Democratic candidate for President. This race is generally viewed as a marketing tool to explain broader libertarian concepts as a result. The best evidence may be the interest of the listener tuning in because it is a Presidential year. • This being said, the Libertarian Party's job at a national level as a minority party is to use its support and voice to impact duopoly party policy in a way that expands individual freedoms and limits government interference. • From this perspective, there are "wins" to be had in working with both parties. On a local level, any candidate can win an election, and given the old adage "all politics is local" it's crucial to have • Liberty-minded candidates on a local level to prove our party's ability to govern. • There are many Libertarians serving in government in local races. - https://my.lp.org/elected-officials/ • One other benefit of a third party is the impact of a candidate on the eventual victor. For example, in 2012, when Rupert Boneham ran for Governor of Indiana as Libertarian, one of his platform planks was expanding school choice into vocational training. The eventual victor, Mike Pence, tested the idea, it polled well, and he adopted it and ran campaign commercials on it. As governor, he enacted the policy. • Do converted Congressmen count as wins? Justin Amash or Laura Ebke? - Any action that expands awareness of the Libertarian movement, and advances our overall goal of Liberty in our Lifetime is a win. Justin & Laura have had an immeasurable positive impact on our party and that goal, and we hope more sitting representatives and Senators, and local government officials, begin to act their conscience and identify with their true ideology in declaring for the Libertarian Party. The more willing to do it, the more publicly acceptable it instantly becomes. Social proof is a powerful concept. Growing up as the son of a Palestinian refugee and a Syrian immigrant, former Rep. Justin Amash developed an early appreciation for the opportunities and freedoms America offered. His views on what power the government should have in limiting those freedoms crystalized after a Google search led him to libertarian thinkers and texts. As a Republican member of Congress following those libertarian principles, Amash sometimes found himself at odds with party leadership and eventually with President Trump. He joined David to talk about the value of immigrants of all backgrounds, how he believes US Congress operates as more of an oligarchy than a democracy, what he respects about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and why he's unsettled by what he sees as the media's lionization of Rep. Liz Cheney. To learn more about how CNN protects listener privacy, visit cnn.com/privacy
