https://smallchangesbigshifts.com/things-i-wish-i-wouldve-known-the-hidden-impact-of-breathing-and-sleep-with-dr-nancy-addy-season-12-ep-516/What if the way you breathe, sleep, and hold tension in your body could be the key to unlocking better health and vitality? In this conversation, we sit down with Dr. Nancy Addy to explore the powerful connection between oral health, airway function, and overall well-being. She shares eye-opening insights on how small adjustments—like improving breathing patterns and posture—can lead to transformative changes in energy, sleep quality, and daily performance. This is a reminder that taking control of our health doesn't have to be overwhelming—sometimes, the smallest shifts create the biggest impact. Key Takeaways: Learning to breathe properly through your nose instead of your mouth can boost energy, improve focus, and even enhance sleep quality. The way you hold your head and jaw can impact your breathing, muscle tension, and even your mood. Small adjustments can make a big difference. Poor breathing habits during sleep can lead to fatigue and brain fog. Becoming aware of airway health can transform the way you rest and recharge. Chronic jaw clenching or tightness often signals deeper stress or imbalances. Recognizing and addressing these signs can unlock relief and vitality. Snoring in kids is not normal—it can be a sign of airway issues affecting their sleep, growth, and brain development. Identifying and addressing this early can lead to lifelong health benefits. Resources Mentioned: https://aadsm.org About Dr. Nancy Addy: Dr. Addy is a graduate of UMKC School of Dentistry where she became an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry. In 1997, Dr. Addy delivered her first sleep appliance. This proved so successful that she started to treat more and more patients and soon realized what a valuable option Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) was for patients who suffered with snoring and obstructive sleep apnea(OSA). In 1998, Dr. Addy joined the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in 2006. Dr. Addy has served as president of both the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. She regularly presents lectures on oral appliance therapy both locally and nationally. Dr. Addy's practice is located in Leawood, Kansas and has been limited to Dental Sleep Medicine since 2006. Dr. Addy is devoted to the education and well-being of her patients who suffer with OSA and snoring. She is saving lives and marriages every day. If we as followers of Jesus are going to avoid the perils of misguided zeal, then let us prayerfully remember that God-honoring zeal needs the guardrails of mature wisdom, close knit local church community, a teachable spirit and all of us need personal accountability.Jehu's story reminds us we are looking for a new and better king. A king who is both perfectly righteous and just. A king with a perfectly pure heart and a perfectly harnessed zeal. At the cross, as Jesus died for your sin and mine, justice and mercy met at the cross. The good news of the Gospel is that forgiveness and new life is offered to each one of us when we in repentance and faith embrace Jesus as our Messiah, our Savior and Lord.2 Kgs. 9:1-13 // Tom NelsonKey Takeaways• Jehu's actions were praised by God in some ways, but not in others• True devotion to God goes beyond outward appearances• Our motivations matter more than our actionsRelated SearchesKing Jehu of Israel, Baal worship, Following God with all your heartSERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49277989PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2509/responses/new24.06.30

Romans 8:28-30 // Ben BeasleyWe've been in this series Romans: For Life, where we've learned from the Apostle Paul, Rabbi Paul, that we aren't just saved from eternal evil but we are saved for something else: we are saved for eternal glory and for God's good Spirit-filled work in our lives. Paul's confidence is rooted in who he understands God to be. Paul is rooting his confidence not just in the happening of this, but in the God who is in sovereign control of all the happenings of the universe. When we embrace faith in Jesus we are God's children. And we are co-heirs with Christ. Meaning we have the same inheritance as Jesus.SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49257653PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2509/responses/new24. 05.19

Romans 8:26-27 // Nathan MillerWhen was the last time you were left speechless by grief, disappointment, loneliness, frustration?Maybe you paced aimlessly: I just don't know what to say. Maybe you struggled to know how to express your feelings, or maybe you even struggled to know what exactly it was you were feeling! Maybe you didn't know what to pray, or how to pray, or even feel like you could pray. What are we supposed to do when we no longer have words?Paul's answer might surprise you. Because it's less about what we do and more about what God does. What God is already doing. Even when all we can do is groan, God reminds us that: We never groan alone.SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49254182PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2542/responses/new24.05.12
Romans 8:18-25 // Nathan MillerOur world and our lives are in labor. And it hurts. The suffering, the agony, the tears. The trauma and the drama. But our groaning will one day give birth to glory. And somehow it will all have been worth it. Do you believe that? Now God doesn't say our sufferings don't matter, that our sufferings aren't real, that we're just a bunch of wimps and should get over it. No. It's not that our sufferings are so insignificant. It's that the glory that is coming is just so great. So immense. That it's not even worth comparing.God sees you. And He never minimizes our pain. Nor does He promise us a life without pain. What God promises, is a way through the pain.SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49247178PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2542/responses/new24.05.05
Romans 8:18-25 // Brent NelsenGod's kingdom isn't fully here on earth yet. The picture of Isaiah 11, of a restored creation, is not yet a full reality. But we've been given a taste, and it makes us crave more. When I look around I see violence and discord and hatred. I see creation in subjection and decay. But I know what's coming, and I know because I've had a foretaste. I see God at work renewing the broken pieces in my life. I see him at work restoring relationships around me. I see it in my community group when we experience the joy of gathering together as God's people. I see it in miraculous answers to prayer requests. And I see it in creation. Every spring, the trees bud, and flowers push through the frozen ground. Everything begins to turn green, and the earth comes back to life. Springtime for me is a yearly visual reminder that God brings life from death. That's the hope that we have as followers of Jesus.SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49243655PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2509/responses/new24. 05.05

Romans 8:12-17 // Jonathan Neef We have left God, abused his grace and run after things and idols we thought would bring happiness and belonging. But while we were a long way off God ran after us, hugged us, kissed us, and welcomed us home. He has clothed us and thrown a party for us. We are no longer prodigal sons and daughters. We are no longer slaves of unrighteousness. We are welcomed home as children of God. We are back in the family with a full and rich inheritance.God loves you. He is for you. He has gone to great lengths to rescue you. He calls you his own and has gifted you with a great inheritance. That we are forgiven, we are loved, but it also declares welcome home! We are extravagantly welcome home — not because our sin isn't real, heinous, or deserving of exclusion — but because our older brother, Jesus, paid for our sin on the cross. He took all the judgment you and I deserved so that we might receive all the blessings. Romans 8:1-5 // Jonathan NeefI believe this is the best news you can hear. But I struggle to remember and believe that myself. My assumption is that there are at least three types of people in this room. Those that do not find this as great news because we don't think we are actually bad enough to deserve condemnation in the first placeThose that believe this is good news but we forget about it and live as if it does not matterAnd those that do not find this to be good news because we don't believe it could be true. We have messed up too much. We are too big of failures. We know our brokenness and it is too great. This means that this morning we have our work cut out for us.SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/49240077PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2542/responses/new24.04.14
On March 19, 1960, Kansas City police were called to the home James and Sharon Kinne for what they believed was an accidental shooting. According to Sharon, she had found their two-year-old daughter lying on the couple's bed, a gun near her hand and her father's body next to her with a large hole in his head. Unable to find evidence to the contrary, the shooting was ruled an accident and Sharon collected on her husband's life insurance policy. It wasn't until a few months later, when the wife of Sharon's new boyfriend went missing and eventually turned up dead, that investigators came to believe that James Kinne's death was no accident.Sharon Kinne was eventually arrested and charged with the murders of her husband James and of Patricia Jones, the wife of Sharon's boyfriend at the time of her arrest. During the course of their investigation, detectives began unraveling a lurid tale of infidelity and conspiracy that resulted in at least two murders. Ultimately, Sharon would be acquitted of her Patricia Jones' murder, and would be tried three times for the murder of James Kinne. Before she could be tried for a fourth time, Sharon fled to Mexico with the help of yet another boyfriend, where she killed Francisco Parades Ordoñez in what she claimed was self-defense. The Mexican authorities rejected that claim and in 1964 Sharon was tried and convicted for murder, receiving a ten-year prison sentence. However, after serving just five years of her sentence, Sharon Kinne escaped the Mexican prison and has been on the run ever since. Today, more than fifty years later, she is still considered a fugitive with active warrants out for her arrest.Thank you to the wonderful David White, of the Bring Me the Axe pod, for research assistance ReferencesDoyle, Patricia Janson. 1962.
