But the early Christians believed they were living in the ‘last days' before Christ would come to pour out judgment on Jerusalem. Can you guess who's got it right? “The expression ‘last days' is used in the Bible not to refer to the end of the physical world, but to the last days of the nation of Israel, the ‘last days' that ended with the destruction of the temple in 70 A.D.”David ChiltonWe hope you can be with us this weekend for Part 2 of Pastor Ray's provocative answer to the prophetic question… “Are We Living in the Last Days?”
Private credit is one of the fastest-growing asset classes, and today we take a closer look at why that is, and if it's really worth the hype. When you invest in private credit, you are essentially lending money to borrowers who might have difficulty accessing loans elsewhere. While these assets may be profitable, they can also incur a lot of risk and typically come with illiquidity. It is traditionally traded among institutional and accredited investors, rather than retail investors, namely, non-professional investors. Since private credit has gained so much popularity in recent years, we use today's conversation to unpack how private credit works, the role of private credit funds, the associated performance fees and risks, and what retail investors should know about this asset class before deciding to invest. Our conversation investigates one of the top reasons for private credit's rise in popularity, namely risk-adjusted returns, before evaluating whether this is a worthwhile reason to invest, depending on who you are. Stay tuned for our after-show section where we discuss the proposed changes to the capital gains tax, why the death of value could be exaggerated, and more! Gary continues his response to Answers in Genesis' Ken Ham. Ham uses 2 Peter 3 to show that we are in the "last days." This has been done time and time again, and every time it has been shown to be wrong. Peter was speaking about events of his own day in the first century, not about the state of the culture or the church in our day. Dr. Sam Frost, author of "Why I Left Full Preterism" joins the Burros of Berea at Giraffe Studio to give his personal testimony. Growing up in a Pentecostal church with his mother and with a loving stepfather who was a Seventh Day Adventist, Dr. Frost had a love for the Holy Bible and the Church for as long as he can remember. In his later years, he battled with drugs, alcohol and his faith until he entered into a bible college and rededicated his life to the Lord. Soon he would encounter David Chilton's books,(Paradise Restored, Days of Vengeance) which cited another author, Max King, whom he terms "the Father of Full Preterism". This led him into the in-depth study of Full Preterism and over time he began to teach and eventually start a Full Preterist church in Tampa, Florida. He also was part of several debates from this position. After nearly ten years, he encountered a specific area of scripture in the Gospel of John chapter 6 that would alter the course of his life and lead him out of the Full Preterist movement. Now, he takes a stand against the teachings, writes books on the subject and debates with Full Preterists. Thanks for listening!Note: The Burros of Berea is a conversational podcast, not an ideological one. We are of differing points of view within our group and do our best to find common ground and love for one another. in regard to what we read and believe about the bible. In Chapter 21 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton discusses Revelation 13 and the two Beasts. Futurists often appeal to this passage as proof of an "Antichrist" in the "soon to come" end times. But is it really...?
Futurists claim that events in Bible prophecy are "soon" to happen based on current events. What they fail to point out is that the Bible itself makes the same claim about events in the first century. So who's right? Modern interpreters of the New Testament or the NT writers themselves? In Chapter 18 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton takes the NT writers at their word and shows that the book of Revelation was fulfilled in the cataclysmic events of the first century.
Chapter 17 of Paradise Restored is about how to understand the signs of symbols of the book of Revelation. David Chilton also addresses the need for understanding the Old Testament, as well as the ethical dimension of Bible prophecy. Listen in as Gary discusses this and much more.

In Chapter 15 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton discusses the biblical term "the day of the Lord" and what is left to happen eschatologically. Was all biblical prophecy fulfilled in AD 70, or is there more to transpire? What about the Second Coming? Listen to today's episode to learn more.

In Chapter 13 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton discusses the biblical understanding of the "last days" and proves, from the Bible itself, that these days have already come and gone. Peter, Paul, the book of Hebrews, and many other New Testament writings make it clear that the "last days" were fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70.

In Chapter 12 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton discusses "antichrist" and what the Bible actually says about this topic. Contrary to much modern belief, the Bible doesn't teach that there is a single shadowy figure known as "The Antichrist" that will take over the world in an apocalyptic future known only to science fiction. Listen to this episode to learn more what the Bible actually does say about "antichrist."

Cosmic and universal language is all over the Bible, especially the Old Testament. Language that most commentators, even futurists, recognize as referring to events in Israel's history thousands of years ago, is suddenly given strange Planet Earth-destroying interpretations when encountered in the New Testament. In this episode, Gary discusses Chapter 11 of David Chilton's Paradise Restored.

After a discussion about Earth Day and biblical stewardship of the earth and natural resources, Gary discusses Chapter 10 of Paradise Restored, which is "The Great Tribulation." Too often, modern readers of the Bible interpret the Bible as if it was written directly to them, but David Chilton makes the point that the Bible—and eschatology in particular—must be interpreted in the terms of the original audience.

In Chapter 9 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton discusses the historic ending of the Old Covenant era with the destruction of the temple in AD 70. God sent prophets to Israel over and over again, culminating in the sending of His Son, Jesus. When the chief priests and Pharisees demanded Jesus’ execution they filled up the measure of God’s wrath and guaranteed the end of their manmade kingdom.

In Chapter 8 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton discusses what it means that Christ is King and ruling in His Kingdom. Like a stone that becomes a mountain and like a seed that becomes a tree, Jesus' Kingdom is growing and increasing day-by-day. With His atoning Death and subsequent Resurrection, Jesus has bound the strong man (Satan) and is plundering his house. In Chapter 7 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton discusses the fiery Glory Cloud that led Israel through the desert during the Exodus. The cloud was a theophany of the Holy God Himself and has important and significant attributes that we should recognize when we read the rest of the Bible. It was both a Guide and a Protection for the wandering Israelites… and for us today.

In Chapters 5 and 6 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton discusses the importance, and the biblical theology, of animals, trees, and land. Modern Christianity often has a worldview that more closely resembles Gnosticism, being skeptical of property and physical blessings. In Chapter 3 of Paradise Restored, David Chilton writes: “Salvation restores man to his original calling and purpose, and guarantees that man’s original mandate—to exercise dominion under God over the whole earth—will be fulfilled.” Conversion is the first step in the process, not the process itself. Biblical salvation is for the whole man and the whole earth through the process of discipleship; it’s not just about making converts. Interpreting the Bible properly requires a familiarity with the entire canon of Scripture, both the Old and New Testaments. Nowhere does biblical interpretation get more fantastic (and weird) than in the area of Bible prophecy. In this episode, Gary continues talking about David Chilton’s book, Paradise Restored, and how it points us in the right direction of interpreting the Bible on its own terms. Part One of David Chilton’s book Paradise Restored is titled “The Hope.” Gary discusses what true biblical hope looks like, as well as how singing the Psalms fits into an eschatology of victory. Christianity’s sure hope is rooted in the promises of God and the progression of the Gospel as it makes its way from the Garden to the City. Frederick McCarthy Forsyth CBE is an English author and journalist. He was born on August 25, 1938.A former RAF pilot and investigative journalist, created the modern thriller when he wrote The Day of The JackalHe is best known for thrillers like The Day of the Jackal, The Odessa File, The Fourth Protocol, The Dogs of War, The Devil's Alternative, The Fist of God, Icon, The Veteran, Avenger, The Afghan, The Cobra, and The Kill List.Forsyth's books are often on lists of the best-selling books, and more than a dozen of them have been made into movies. By 2006, more than 70 million copies of his books had been sold in more than 30 languages. The Shepherd tells the story of a De Havilland Vampire pilot who is going home on Christmas Eve, 1957. On the way from RAF Celle in northern Germany to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, England, his plane loses all of its electricity. He gets lost in fog over the North Sea and is almost out of gas when he runs into a De Havilland Mosquito fighter-bomber that seems to have been sent up to "shepherd" him in.The main themes of the story are how he is guided to a safe landing and how he tries to find the pilot who saved him.Forsyth wrote this original piece as a Christmas present for his first wife Carrie, who had asked him to write her a ghost story. The story was written on Christmas Day, 1974, and came out around the same time the next year. The idea came to the author when he was trying to think of a setting that wasn't a haunted house and saw planes flying overhead. Many people have thought that the references were to old RAF stories. Even though Forsyth is a former RAF pilot and could have heard and changed such a story (whether on purpose or not), no references or personal stories have been given to back up such claims.Since 1979, the story has been told on the Canadian news show As It Happens on CBC Radio One. It is always read by Alan Maitland and is always on the last episode, which is always on or before Christmas Eve. As it Happens had a 50th anniversary special in 2018, and Carol Off, Michael Enright, and Tom Power read lines from The Shepherd to honour the tradition. On December 14, 2014, in London, at St. Clement Danes, the Central Church of the Royal Air Force, actor Nigel Anthony put on an original version of The Shepherd by Amber Barnfather, complete with music and sound effects. Frederick Forsyth opened the show, which raised money for the RAF Benevolent Fund. David Chilton was in charge of the sound, and the Saint Martin Singers sang a cappella pieces.John Travolta confirmed in 2022 that he is making a movie version of The Shepherd right now.Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens AudiobookIf you like my voice and want to support my work, get my narration of this Christmas Classic herehttps://theclassicghoststoriespodcast.bandcamp.com/album/a-christmas-carol-by-charles-dickensNew Patreon RequestBuzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! Gary responds to a message from a pastor in Tennessee threatening civil disobedience. There are many paths available to American Christians, but taking up arms should not be one of them. Anti-Christian ideologies are self-defeating and we are beginning to witness the unraveling of humanistic thought in many areas. Christians must be steadfast in their daily roles of taking every thought captive and destroying speculations and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5).
