Открывает майский эпизод колумбийский музыкант Jonnas B со свежайшим треком A New Day, вышедший буквально на днях на Dreamers Фернандо Феррейры. Еще одна работа Rainy Sunset от вышеупомянутого Jonnas B с его новой A New Day EP не оставила меня равнодушным и я с большим удовольствием дарю этот трек вам. Майский TRACK OF THE MONTH у меня вышеупомянутый Signs от Yellowknife & Paul Piper, только лишь в потрясном ремиксе от банды Michael & Levan и Stiven Rivic. В общем Have A Breaks, дорогие друзья! Dreamer. On today’s episode of Let’s Talk Bitcoin! you’re invited to join Andreas M. Antonopoulos, Adam B. Levine, Stephanie Murpy and special guest Richard Myers for an in-depth look at the past, present and future of ‘Mobile Mesh Networking’ technology and the open source LOT49 protocol built on top of lightning. Just as cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin don’t rely on static infrastructure and professional providers, mobile mesh networking allows the creation of inexpensive, high range, low bandwidth and power consumption ad-hoc networks that’ll let your phone send text messages or even bitcoin lightning network micro-transactions, even in areas with no coverage. According to Richard, Bitcoin’s Lightning is a what’s needed to make mobile mesh networks catch on by bootstrapping on top of the payment routing infrastructure. “…the Lightning network currently sends payments from A to B to C and then all those intermediate nodes can connect a small fee if the payment is delivered at the end. All we’re doing is saying ‘Not only [can you send] a payment, but [you can send] a small message. In our case it’d be a SMS message. So you’re sending an SMS message along with a Lightning payment from A to B to C to D, and when D receives that message they return proof that it was delivered and that’s what flows back through the network. In the Lightning sense, that’s your pre-image. It’s computed from the message, that’s how the nodes are able to collect payment even if they lose touch with the original person who sent it.” But the way the Lightning network uses data natively isn’t ideal for mobile mesh. The open source Lot49 protocol is another layer on top of lightning that Richard says is necessary to make it work at scale while using mesh devices as an extremely low-bandwidth TOR-like privacy layer. “In many ways we’re not making a new protocol, we’re literally using lightning. Lot49 is custom communication protocol that’s optimized for mesh. For example, right now there’s a 1300 byte onion that’s used to route messages over the internet and that’s very important because you lose a lot of privacy… you lose all your privacy… if you were to just send messages over the internet without onion routing. We’re sending over more or less a physical TOR network since it’s going from node to node, not through a central ISP who can associate who you’re trying to pay. We’re also doing it over a low bandwidth network, so if you were sending 1300 bytes it may not sound like much in the age of the internet but we’re talking about devices that [have a maximum data transmission capacity of] about a kilobyte a minute so that’s a significant amount of the bandwidth that you have [tied up just in the web’s onion routing] So for example with LOT49, we take out the onion and we use the native routing at the mesh device [level] which is optimized for mesh communications. And there’s a few other little changes we make like that in order to reduce the bandwidth by chunking up messages… the ultimate goal is to minimize the lightning protocol overhead so that there is more bandwidth available for data… For things like sending an SMS and as bandwidth increases there may be things like internet protocol…” Credits This episode of Let’s Talk Bitcoin features Stephanie Murphy, Andreas M. In this episode we meet Rich Myer (https://twitter.com/remyers_) s of mesh networking company GoTenna (https://gotenna.com) . Rich is developing the Lot49 (https://globalmeshlabs.org/files/Lot49%20Protocol%20Whitepaper%20-%20DRAFT%200.8.5_20190611.pdf) protocol, which both allows Lightning transactions over a local mesh network, and uses Bitcoin incentives to increase adoption of the network. Rich and I discuss the history of wireless networking and how P2P meshes could turn out to be critical in a time of crisis; why and to what extent we can consider our contemporary networks compromised through what Rich calls 'The Eye of Sauron' problem; and how Lot49 enables an internet-minimized micropoayments soltuion which could function in a distressed, post-Covid environment.

As we roll into April, it just felt like time for fat, rolling, funky breakbeat goodness.......... I have always been into my breaks from the minute as a teenager that I first heard those big juicy beats, kick drums and rolling basslines, I was hooked. My first taste came during my early trips to Brighton when me and the Bucks Boys used to party at the beach club where a certain Fat Boy Slim ran his "Big Beat Boutique" promotion. That early big beat was just perfection to me and I followed the genre ever since and Plump DJs and Stanton Warriors debut albums both released at a similar time (A Plump Night out and The Stanton Sessions) became legendary CDs that I owned and rinsed time and time again. Later in the mid 2000s at our JamBasha parties we always had a breaks and D&B room where we hosted headliners such as Drumattic Twins from Fingerlickin Records. Breaks have stayed with me ever since and it's interesting to see how the genre has developed after slowing down for a while. I have picked 30 tunes which technically span genres including glitch hop (new to me!), tech funk, dubstep and breaks. If you were to categorise the breaksbeats on this mix , they would be split into tech breaks, some garagey sounding breaks i guess evolved from the newer garagey deep house sound that has been prevalent recently, some progressive breaks (I love my melodic uplifting sounds) and some old skool house piano jams with the classic breakbeat #piratejams. The way I have blended the mix is so that I take you on a journey through the different breakbeat sounds, evolving as you get through the mix from 100bpm glitch hop to 138bpm full on pumping breaks. Go with it, you need to listen to the full journey to understand it. It is a pleasure to say that I have included 5 tunes from JamBasha's own Chevy One who has worked so hard for so long and as usual hard work has paid off. Chevy has moved his way up the scene and as is now a leading producer of tech funk originally working out of the Lot49 stable with Dylan Ryhmes and Meat Katie he is now producing and remixing tunes with lots of other famous producers as well. Check Chevy out! Now download the mix but remember this is not background music, turn it on preferably in a quality sound system with a beefer subwoofer, turn it UP, turn it up again, relax and enjoy the big beat journey! Introducing The Armory, a new weekly podcast from San Francisco DJ, Zach Moore (The RIPEcast, Gough Street Sessions). Featuring an arsenal of world class DJs from San Francisco and beyond, The Armory Podcast reloads each and every Friday with exclusive mixes from the biggest names in breakbeat and house. Syndicated on SoundCloud and MixCloud at the moment, look for The Armory Podcast in iTunes in the coming weeks. In our very first episode 2012 Breakspoll winner, Mafia Kiss (aka Paul Baron), wastes no time kicking down the door and setting The Armory ablaze, but there is a method to his madness. "I was sent the artwork for the Armory Podcast and was told by Zach to think '80's arcade machine', says Mr. Baron. "So that stuck in my head and I wanted the mix to play along with that, hence the deeper, darker mix. I've tried to make it feel like you're completing level after level in a video game with the track selection. Make sure you're looking at the artwork at the end of the mix, too. Trust me. It will make sense!" The Armory will also showcase the talents of renowned illustrator, Jem Panufnik. “My artwork for The Armory takes its cue from those classic back-lit, sci-fi, shoot-em-up, ‘80s-stlye video arcade game signs, which I love", says Panufnik. "When he commissioned me, Zach explained how The Armory was about the old analogy of DJ battle weapons, dancefloor bombs etc, and it seemed a great way to show that when the DJ pulls his trigger/fader finger it's an arsenal of sirens, squeaks, bleeps and ear-splitting analogue booms that does the damage. Really looking forward to the series!” Mafia Kiss, the award-winning bass/breaks producer, has dominated the breaks charts of Juno, Track It Down & Beatport with releases on labels such as Rat Records, LOT49, Sunday Best Recordings, Digital Records, Sub Slayers & has recently signed to Stanton Warriors infamous label Punks. Renowned for his remixes & edits alongside his originals, Mafia Kiss's DJ sets are quickly becoming famed for the unique bass & beats "kiss" that he puts on the hottest house, electro, hip hop, moombahton & anything else in between. For more information on Mafia Kiss visit www.mafiakiss.com or www.facebook.com/mafiakissmusic. Since the mid-nineties Jem Panufnik has been right at the cutting edge of underground art culture, most notably with Finger Lickin' Records, the award-winning dance music label he co-founded and which for over a decade acted as a springboard for his multitude of talents ranging from graphics, illustration and animation to DJing, composition and record production. His stunning visual creations have adorned countless record covers, t-shirts, club and festival projections from Glastonbury to San Francisco, as well as posters, flyers and other music-related ephemera, most of which are now extremely collectable. Episode 57 goes back my roots with some house beats going through the genres starting deeper and then a mashup of tech, progressive and some pumping techno. It is only a few week til i will be back in London for the Lot49 boat party. I will be smashing the afterparty in style and cannot wait. Enjoy the mix people, turn it up real loud and let me know if you like it. Feedback is always really welcome and keeps me wanting to make my next mix. Big Love. Rubber
The Lot49 record label is owned by Dylan Rhymes and Meat Katie was setup in June 2004. Lot49 quickly became one of the most talked about dance music labels with the sole purpose of releasing dancefloor 12"'s from the finest artists around. Lot49 pushes the tech-funk sound, a hybrid of electro, house, techno and breaks in varying forms. Lot49 has picked up support from Deep Dish, The Plump DJs, Adam Freeland, Sander Kleinenberg, Pete Tong, James Lavelle and John Digweed to name just a few. Today Lot49 has the following artists signed to its label Lee Combs, Ben Coda, Vandal, Dopamine, Beat Tempest, Metha and JamBasha's own Chevy One! Underbeat Trust ran an awesome boat party on the Thames for the Lot49 label and my podcast Episode 58 was recorded live at the afterparty in Islington where I kicked off proceedings with an hour set. This was the same night Man United lost to Barcelona in the champions league final sorry Mr Mouse.... This set is my take on Tech Funk with a mix of Techno, Electro and some big bad Breakbeats. Turn it up, Big Love. Rubber
GO!DIVA was born in Holland in 1980. She always had a passion for music. When house music got on her way she started to collect vinyl in 1992. A year later she went to her first big rave and started to produce hardcore with some friends. After a few years, DJs like Dave Clarke, Jeff Mills, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin etc. got her back into techno music. In 2001 she picked up producing again, with simple programs just for fun, so nothing serious. After 16 years of collecting vinyl and going to parties she got her first turntables at the end of 2007. In 2009 she started to play at parties/festivals and soon she realised that her passion for music was more than just a hobby and invested in some hardware and software to use and make music in a more professional way. GO!DIVA loves all kinds of electronic music and mainly plays dark techno and minimal, but also tech-house, drum and bass, breaks, dubstep, etc. She produces minimal, techno and breaks. Her mixes are made with vinyl and Traktor with timecoded vinyl or controller(s). 2010 started good for GO!DIVA. She made it into the finals of the Next Generation DJ contest. On february the 8th she had her first release `Be Patient` on Lot49 and more releases on !Organism, Intertech Records, Redbox Records and NBG-music followed. Releases on Brickwork, Machine Box, Gobsmacked, Speca, Unofficial Records, The Zone Records, AOA recordings and NBG-music are scheduled for the next two months and more will follow. On the 16th of february she started her own radioshow 'GO!DIVA FM' on fnoob.com . Her favorit producers/dj's are: Extrawelt, Popof, Umek, Trentemoller, Stephan Bodzin, Oliver Huntemann, Pan-Pot, Adam Beyer, The Advent & Industrialyzer, Joey Beltram, Pfirter, Virgil Enzinger, Sven Wittekind, Pig and Dan, Lutzenkirchen, Matthew Johnson, Alessio Mereu, Tomy DeClerque, Secret Cinema, Julian Jeweil, Ortin Cam, Aphex twin, Prodigy, Mr Oizo and many more...
Thought I’d dig through and dust off some older tunes for tonights show, so this mix features some classic LOT49, Electrofly, Finger Lickin’ and TCR amongst others with a couple of fresh tracks from Karlsav and Mesmer. We're back from Black Rock City, Boys and Girls, with hours upon hours of dark and dirty playa sets recorded live from DISTRIKT at Burning Man Rites of Passage! Today we're quite pleased to present you with the very first of those recordings from our good pal, Lee Coombs of Thrust Recordings. Enjoy! "It’s been two years since I have visited the Playa and I couldn’t wait to play my first DISTRIKT set. There is something really special about a huge daytime party in the desert! I re-edited and re-mixed like a mad man in the weeks leading up to Burning Man to make sure I had the right tunes for the job. DISTRIKT has the kind of vibe that I love, the crowd wants to hear Rolling Underground Beats that carry you through the day and then onto the night. They know quality and when they hear it, the place erupts. Hats off to you DISTRIKT. I had an Epic afternoon and loved every minute of it. Thank You!" - Lee Coombs x Track List 1. Bending boundaries and ignoring the status quo – where would the electronic music scene be today without Lee Coombs? For over a decade this British producer has been at the forefront of it all; releasing groundbreaking mix CDs, remixing the world’s most acclaimed artists and knocking out dancefloor destroying productions that are considered classics years after their release. A seasoned veteran, Coombs first hit the DJ slopes in 1989, bathing himself in the acid house scene at parties around London and Cambridge. Crucial in shaping his all-encompassing approach to DJing and production, this boundary-less approach would become Coombs’ trademark, mixing up breaks, house, electro, techno and acid with dexterous assurance. In 1998 Coombs made his first massive strike on the breaks scene as the prized recruit of then ‘up and coming’label Finger Lickin’, with the man’s acclaimed album of 2001 ‘Future Sound of Retro’ signalling his arrival on the world stage. The album struck a chord within the dance music community, so much so that respected industry figurehead Pete Tong noted him as the ‘man to watch’. An ‘Essential New Tune’ accolade soon followed courtesy of Tong, with Coombs’ re-rub of Quivver’s ‘One Last Time’ making dance fans weak at the knees the world over. Such was the demand for Coombs, that luminary Paul Oakenfold was soon knocking at his door, resulting in the critically acclaimed Perfecto Breaks album of 2002. After landing the job of remixing Oakenfold’s ‘Time of your Life’ and then further re-rubs for world class acts such as Moby, New Order, Lamb and Planet Funk, Coombs’ status as one of the industry’s most in-demand artists quickly developed. Even the BBC was under the Coombs spell with them flying him over to Prague in the summer of 2003 to record the theme music for the television program ‘Born to Win’ with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Ever the musical innovator, Lee Coombs’ 2004 album release ‘Breakfast of Champions’ signalled a significant evolution in his sound. Collaborating with some of the most respected artists in his field – from Dylan Rhymes to Christian J, Andy Gardner (Plump DJs) and Jem Panufnik (Soul of Man), the album charted the ambitious new territory of Tech Funk, injecting the Breaks sound with butt-shaking elements of House, Electro and Techno. It was a style Coombs would make his own, alongside fellow innovators Meat Katie, Elite Force and Dylan Rhymes. Featured on the acclaimed album was the cracking single ‘Shiver’ (feat. Katherine Ellis) which was snapped up by classic house imprint Azuli and became one of the biggest vocal house anthems of 2005, whilst the ‘Alright All-Night/Dubhead’ and ‘Obsessional Rhythm’ singles went straight to no.1 in the DJ Mag Beats & Breaks Chart. Departing Finger Lickin’ for new pastures in 2005, Coombs’ focus shifted to releasing music through his own Thrust Recordings imprint as well as Adrift and Meat Katie’s Lot49 (then Whole9Yards). It was at this time that he started his ‘Thrust’ club nights in San Francisco, with the quarterly events becoming one of the hottest tickets in the Bay Area. He also formally joined the Lot49 team, mixing the label’s compilation Lot49 Presents – Lee Coombs. When he is not in the producers chair, Coombs regularly tours all corners of the globe and is a bona-fide fan favourite throughout Europe, the USA, Australia, Asia and of course the UK. His popularity has also ensured his repeat appearance at infamous festival ‘The Burning Man’ in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. Coomb’s latest artist album entitled “Light and Dark.” Was released in October 2009 on Lot49, Coombs views this as his most ambitious project yet with a range of tempo from 100 – 128 bpm. While still dancefloor focused, collaborations with the likes of Seasunz, Katherine Ellis, Uberzone and others help push the albums boundaries and showcase Coombs’ abilities across multiple genres. 2010 saw Lee move back into the T.V. music world when Absolut Vodka asked for his services with their ‘AbsolutNight’ campaign. In 2011 they also asked Lee to write the music to their ‘Absolut Blank’ Campaign which includes ‘behind the scenes’ video soundtrack and an Electronic version of their currently worldwide showing ‘Absolut Blank’ T.V. ad. Lee’s ability to create music that fits any kind of film or game is becoming widely known throughout the industry. In a world that’s so often governed by trends and fads, Coombs’ unwavering ability to simultaneously destroy dancefloors and push musical boundaries over 20 years since he first touched a pair of turntables is a remarkable achievement in itself. There’s little doubt that his impressive sonic skills will be rocking ears for many years to come. For more information on Lee visit him at www.leecoombs.com or http://soundcloud.com/analogdelayed. "We were somewhere around Gerlach on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold....I remember saying something like 'I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive'. And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge jetsprays, all swooping and screeching and diving around the RV, which was going about three miles an hour with the windows open, cruising to Black Rock City. And a voice was screaming: 'Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?'.....I regained my composure and drawled, 'My friend, we are home. THIS is DISTRIKT.'" - Hunter "Shack" Thomspon For sixteen years our pal Simon Shackleton (or "Shack" as we like to call him) has been writing, recording and releasing chart-topping tracks under various pseudonyms (Elite Force, Zodiac Cartel, Dust Bowl, Lunatic Calm and Flicker Noise) for many of the world's finest dance labels (Lot49, TCR, Kingsize, Thrust Recordings). And few, if any, have made a more indelible imprint on the world of dance music in as many areas (DJ, producer & label boss) over a longer period of time than has Shack. The most recognized of his aliases, Elite Force, has been celebrated around the globe for both his accomplishments in the studio and incendiary live DJ sets. Earlier this year, he received the prestigious Breakspoll award for top producer while his multi-genre label, U&A Recordings, was also recognized by Breakspoll as the very best in the world of breakbeat. In his twenty-one years as a DJ, Elite Force has electrified dance crowds at major clubs and international festivals with his signature "bass-driven warehouse music" from Kazakhstan to Australia, London to Tokyo and Budapest to Black Rock City. "Elite Force unites the sometimes warring factions of electro house, techno, and breakbeat, like a peace keeper who values the spirit of cooperation and tolerance", wrote Beatport in 2009. "He was forged in the fires of breakbeat, which has always had a habit of sucking in sounds that pass by. His sets are like a team performance, with tracks coming from all corners of the bass-driven sector, to create a vibrant hodgepodge of boundary-pushing dance music….“ Unbeknownst to many of his fans, Shack's exploits as a producer extend far beyond the realm of dance music into film, television and even video games. His music has been the soundtrack for major motion pictures like The Matrix, Emmy-award winning TV shows such as CSI and his recent collaboration with acclaimed film-score composer, Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, X-Men), on PS3's Motorstorm Apocalypse is yet another crown jewel in a litany of musical accomplishments. Since his first pilgrimage to Black Rock City in 2009, Shack has become a good friend to many of us who make our home on the corner of 9:00 and F at Burning Man. And we're thrilled to have him back in the DISTRIKT line-up again in 2011 (you can catch Shack's closing set on the DISTRIKT sound system Wednesday afternoon). Suffice to say we couldn't think of a better choice for this, the last episode of the DISTRIKT podcast before Burning Man, than Elite Force. Enjoy Everyone! Any friend of Plaza de Funk's is a friend of ours! This week The Space Cowboys are pleased to welcome to The RIPEcast PDF's good pal and flat mate, the founder of FlatOut Records and the pride of Stockholm: Peo de PItte (a.k.a. Haggstrom). For his appearance on the show, Peo treats us to sixty minutes of his signature "big room beats and cutting edge synths", a tech-funk mix with plenty of attitude. Peo's RIPEcast is a mere sampling of what you'll be hearing at Burning Man this year by the way. He'll be making his first ever trip to the Black Rock Desert adding to what is promising to be an impressive roster of international DJ talent on the playa this year. Keep on eye on Peo's Facebook fan page and website (www.peodepitte.com) for his Burning Man gigs. Many thanks to Peo de Pitte from The Cowboys for this fantastic RIPEcast. Enjoy Cowpokes! A little more background on this week's guest..... Peo de Pitte hails from the city of Stockholm. Having relocated to London, Peo has been cooking up a storm with his original production; remix work and his late night, hands-up-heads-down DJ sets. He has been running his own label FlatOut Records, home to his two aliases Peo de Pitte and Haggstrom which has seen support on radio, in press and at the forefront on headline DJ's sets right around the globe. His hailed remix of ‘Riverside' by Sidney Samson has so far clocked up over 75,000 downloads! His trademark combination of big room beats and cutting edge synth's has resulted in making Peo one of the most exciting new producers to emerge since IKEA. With remixes and releases on labels such as Global Underground, SIMMA, Fingerlickin', LOT49, U&A, Frenetic and Champion Records, it is no surprise that he has won huge support from some of the dance worlds biggest acts like Afrojack, Crookers, Groove Armada, MJ Cole, Sinden, Roger Sanchez, Laidback Luke, Treasure Fingers, Kissy Sell Out, Elite Force, Jaymo & Andy George and Lee Mortimer. In-turn, this lead Peo to be invited to perform exclusive mixes for Annie Nightingale on Radio1 and Loose Cannons on Kiss FM as well as various radio stations worldwide. In the year's Peo has been on these shores, he has not had time to stop, unless of course, his studio surrounds him. He has toured Australia playing to full capacity venues, slammed shows in all around Europe and endless clubs in the UK such as Fabric, The Egg and Ministry of Sound and he also dropped a very special VIP set at Global Gathering. Men want to be him, woman can't help but dance to him and DJ's & producers are literally queuing up to work with him.
