Gordon White is a chaos magician, shamanic practitioner, and permaculture designer based in Tasmania. He podcasts and teaches through the vehicle of Rune Soup, the world's largest magic academy, and he writes prolifically -- not only on the Rune Soup blog but in several incredible books. Gordon's breadth and depth of knowledge is unbelievably humbling, and it was an honor to spend an hour or so with him.We came to Gordon for perspective, to some bring context and breadth and dimension to our relatively narrow world. Disintegrator sits in a kind of para-academic space, where we tend to limit the things we allow ourselves to write and think in terms of what's acceptable in mainstream academia. And there are so many people in this space, squashed between the outer walls of the academy and a totally vast, teeming ocean of different ways of thinking and being.((An academic might chastize us for using 'outside' as a kind of euphemism for an alien or an other, but we'd push back -- it is the inside that we're all kind of bunched up against, like feudal serfs huddling for protection and warmth. As we look outside, we've started to speculate about what might be out there, inventing our own 'pseudosacreds' that preoccupy our minds without forcing us to change anything about ourselves.))Gordon brings sledgehammers from magical practices and shamanic tradtions around the world, alongside a potent alternative canon of Western, and, well, pummels our walls a bit.Tons of references packed in here, but a good place to start would be his books Chaos Protocols and Ani.Mystic (in order). In 1987, Kris Jamieson made the full time move to Bend Oregon to spend more time in the mountains while pursuing a career in the outdoor sports industry. 35 years later Kris still calls Central Oregon home, and for good reason. Join me on episode 17 as I had the privilege to chat with Kris about a variety of topics ranging from the durability and sustainability of outdoor retail equipment, the role of social media in our community, being one of the original employees at GoPro, the Democratic process and much more. Known to many as Jaymo, Kris now spends his time between the studios of the Bend Radio Group, where he is regularly found hosting on 92/9 FM and running his multimedia production company, Jaymovision. Wisdom is largely agreed upon as the ability to use knowledge and experience to make good life decisions and judgements. How a once-juvenile lifer found redemption by finding the good in himself, with the help of a Catholic deacon (0:00) We meet James Thomas, a.k.a. “Jaymo,” who shares a memory of his younger life. He was 15, entering the juvenile justice system, and a psychologist at his trial — whom he'd only met briefly — described him for the court. It was the first time he was in trouble, but he was written off as a “sociopath” — a young man with no hope, no future. Jaymo disagreed. (1:57) Jaymo describes how this formative experience shaped who he ended up being — but not in the way the court expected. (3:38) Jaymo talks about his upbringing, being raised by his grandmother until he was 6 years old because his mother — who had him when she was 13 — was too young to care for him. His father, then 16, was in juvenile prison when Jaymo was born. He would only see his father six times in his life. (4:34) Jaymo and his mother moved to Georgia, where his mother worked at an Army base. She married and had another son. He describes this part of his life as a “middle class suburban life,” where he wanted for very little. (5:03) It wasn't until his mother and her husband became caught up in the drug trade that things began to fall apart. His mother — like many members of his family — was incarcerated, and Jaymo and his brother moved back to Detroit. (6:40) Left to fend for themselves, Jaymo and his brother began selling drugs. After about a year, he was arrested and given a sentence of life in prison. It was then that Jaymo realized that if he wanted a second chance in life, he'd have to seize it. (8:48) We meet Deacon Mike Chesley, executive director and the founder of the Wayne County Jail Outreach Ministry, who has devoted his life and ministry to helping those in Jaymo's circumstances. (10:47) Deacon Mike describes his first visit to a prison, and how much the inmates appreciated the chance to talk to a Catholic chaplain, have Bible studies, Communion services and pray. Some even joined RCIA. (13:18) Because of his love for those incarcerated, and his belief in the human capacity for redemption, Deacon Mike worked to develop ways to help those recently released from prison adapt to life on the outside, including the Wayne County Jail Outreach Program. (16:24) Jaymo re-enters the story. He was released from prison after 31 years behind bars after the Michigan Supreme Court ruled sentencing minors to life in prison was “cruel and unusual.” He describes how his prison experience changed him for the better. He prayed, became a spiritual mentor to other inmates, earned his GED and began to pick up the pieces. He became connected with Chance for Life, a similar outreach program whose volunteers help inmates like Jaymo. (19:14) After his release, Jaymo began working with Deacon Mike to help others in similar situations fight to become the best versions of themselves.

American songwriter, artist, filmmaker, Dj, actor, and content creator. Born in Atlanta, Ga Gregory Edwards aka Dj Westside was raised on a street named Ashby near Simpson Rd and The Bluff which is now known as the english avenue community. While being surrounded by crime, drugs, violence and other negative influences Westside always wanted to do something to help his family and would express himself through making music. He took his closet in a ran down apartment and transformed it into a recording booth and every talent from the neighborhood would come to rap and make records. Some of those artist would later become great names being acts like Young Scooter, Rich Homie Quan, 24 Heavy and others. Westside would keep working on music all the way up until he moved out of his dad's apartment to eventually build his own studio and take on the title as a Producer / Artist. Things were up and down with music until two of Westside's mentors Greg Taylor and Theophilus “Chip” Glass would introduce him to Xavier Hargrove (Dj Big X) who was the Ceo Of The Coalition Djs. After being introduced to X, Westside found himself becoming more involved with being a Dj more than a producer & artist as he would start gigging in clubs and producing on the side. This would be the start of something amazing, with the influence of the Coalition Djs who are currently some of the most influential figures in the music industry Westside's career would become bigger than he could imagine. Westside would go from a Dj in the club to a Dj and filmmaker traveling the world with some of the biggest names in the game. Westside's first american tour would be with artists Kevin Gates, and Solo Lucci, following that he would meet Jamal Inman who introduced him to international superstar Akon who later become a big brother figure. After years of being in the mix with Akon and various other huge names Westside decided to start mentoring himself. He met a young man by the Name of Jaymo who he saw much potential in and reminded him of himself so he started working him and they both began producing artists together, Jaymo had a talent with the harp instrument and Westside who was already a filmmaker gave them both a great idea, “you play the harp and I will record it”....This idea would grow from just a thought to a platform where artist could perform and display their talents acoustically. They would call this platform Harp Szn. Present day Westside is doing the things he loves daily, working with artists, staying connected and is the owner of a few companies.
