The Holy Spirit is a very under-appreciated part of God. Mainstream Christianity practically ignores the topic of the Holy Spirit. Yet Jesus said it would be the Holy Spirit Who He would send and enter our hearts when Jesus ascended back to Heaven. Understanding the Holy Spirit is a vital part of walking in victory in this life. Learn more about the Holy Spirit in this teaching, and especially how to recognize when the Holy Spirit is speaking to you.
Send us a Text Message. In this episode we look at another "shotgun argument" from a Torah-keeper. This time it's a cut-and-paste list of 12 OT verses intended to show that the old covenant law pre-dates Sinai. The thesis we put to the test is this: “The giving of the law at Sinai is the complete revelation of the old covenant law which was introduced at various levels of detail in Genesis 1 forward.” Why does it matter? Those who hold to the theology of Torahism, and consider themselves a Torah-keeping follower of Jesus (aka Torah-observant, Hebrew Roots, Pronomian) are interested in finding a way to show that the old covenant law applies to everyone, not just Israel. And some believe the best way to do that is to try to show that the law has always applied to everyone, not just Israel. Mainstream Christianity, on the other hand (and for that matter, mainstream Judaism as well) teaches that those old covenant commands were never given to anyone other than the nation of Israel. Gentiles were never expected to keep those laws. And further, followers of Jesus today, whether they're Jewish or Gentiles, aren't bound by them either. For Christians keeping those things is permitted, but it's not required. On this episode of Mormonish, Rebecca and Landon discuss the new phenomenon of Mormons celebrating Palm Sunday and Holy Week in addition to Easter Sunday. These sacred days have long been celebrated in the wider world of Christianity, but Mormons seem to have neglected them all together until very recently. Why the sudden shift to adopt the appearance of being part of the more main stream Christian community? Mainstream Christianity may have lost sight of everything Jesus died for: For salvation, yet for more - an outpouring. For eternal life in heaven, and eternal life within you, on Earth. To bring living waters through you - now - even before you the great day of face-to-face with Him. He has come to make home in all who call on His name. But will you allow Him to move through your temple? Support Rise on Fire Ministries by contributing to their tip jar: https://tips.pinecast.com/jar/rise-on-fire
When the Spirit came upon the Apostles in acts two, Peter was inspired to explain the recipe for salvation with power and authority. The video below is a group discussion about the requirement for water baptism in detail. We cover the origins of baptism, who is authorized to baptize another, when it's appropriate to be re-baptized, and the theological/spiritual meanings of this outward sign of faith. Tagore Kota visited this week. He is studied on Koine Greek and explained in great detail the meaning of the Greek words behind baptism. He also gives a remarkable correlation between Noah's Ark and the blood of Messiah. Other contributors to the discussion are Everett Leisure, Tim Roberson, and Tiffany Flores. Acts 2 is the dividing line between the Old Covenant and the New. The Spirit guided Peter's words and allowed the message to be heard in all the languages present. Peter was inspired to preach, just as Yeshua prophesied. Most of his sermon were direct citations of the Old Testament. But the new information included the recipe for salvation: Repent of your sins, accept Yeshua as the Messiah/Son of God, and be baptized. This is the Gospel that was preached to the known world from that moment on. Theologically and spiritually, the fulcrum point between the Old and New Covenant is the death and resurrection of Yeshua. But the 50 days after His resurrection go on the left side of the dividing line because He was teaching them without parables and explaining everything, starting with Moses. The Ruach, aka the Holy Spirit, was yet to come, as well. Once the Ruach came, the New Covenant kicked off and the word went forth from Zion. The final, and perhaps most important topic covered, is what exactly the Jews who didn't accept Yeshua rejected. The recipe for salvation is defined above but is a starting point. After one is baptized, one must learn the Torah. This is because the remnant, those who are Messiah's at His return, are those who believe in Him and who keep the Torah. The Jews believe in Yahweh and keep the Torah. Mainstream Christianity believe in Yeshua (they call Him Jesus), but they do not keep the commandments. Please enjoy the discussion! Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Messiah Yeshua. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." (1Pe 1:13-16) Peter was not creating a new type of holiness when he wrote these verses. He was drawing from the Old Testament. The phrase "as it is written" is our hint to look for this concept in the Torah. The video below shows how to achieve holiness today. Many believers don't believe that holiness or righteousness can be achieved at all. This is an error in doctrine and psychologically damaging. Peter would not have told us to be holy if it were not possible. Each of us has worth and is to strive for the goal of Messiah. We were created by Yahweh for a purpose. Western society has lost the concept of holiness or holding things sacred almost completely. Mainstream Christianity holds December 25 as its most sacred day of the calendar. In our faith, we know that Christmas is not a bilbilcal holiday at all. However, while watching football on Christmas, I realized that our nation appears to hold nothing sacred anymore. For football to be on TV during this holiday at all is a huge change from just 20 years ago. Having three games on so people could spend their day immersed in the NFL is astonishing. Date Given: Feb 12, 2022 Speaker: Cliff Demarest The one commandment most Christians do not observe is keeping the Sabbath Holy. Mainstream Christianity changed their day of worship to Sunday and don't even keep that day Holy, they might go to church but then watch football or work or pursue their own desires. Does the bible show Sabbath observance as still valid in the new testament? #Sabbath #SabbathRest

The so-called earliest Christian document - First Thessalonians, a letter of Paul, meets its demise at the hands of BORN IN THE SECOND CENTURY. Anyone who listens to this episode can learn about the true origins of the religion of Paul, whether Paul himself was a historical figure, and the problems with the traditional view of his letters and their origins. In our first stop on the journey through the pages of the New Testament, host Chris Palmero examines the so-called First Letter to the Thessalonians and demonstrates its late and fictional nature. It is, first of all, a way of looking at things: a thought pattern and process, and the rest of the involvement come later. Traces of the characteristic work of Satan as deceiver can be discerned among the disciples of Christ. He deceives Peter into speaking words of temptation to the Lord, suggesting His turning from the path of the Cross (Matt. 16: 22- 23), and later on takes hold of the same disciple in the Judgment Hall (Lk. 22: 31), prompting him to the lie, "I know not the Man," with the very purpose of deception (Matt. 26: 74). Further traces of the work of the deceiver may be seen in the Epistles of Paul, in his references to the "false apostles," "deceitful workers," and Satan's workings as an "angel of light," and "his ministers as ministers of righteousness" among the people of God (II Cor. 11: 13-15).

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. Romans 10:1-3 Their zeal for the Torah comes through what they are taught through Judaism. They were trying to establish their own righteousness through works and through following man made decrees and doctrines from the Talmud rather than submit to the righteousness of God. Mainstream Christianity interprets verse 3 that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ and that trying to establish your own righteousness is seeking to follow the Torah, therefore we should not follow the Torah. That is NOT what this verse is saying. The Torah teaches that we have no righteousness on our own merit. The Torah and the Prophets teaches us that our righteousness comes by grace through faith. This is also what Paul taught. We see this in Exodus 3:21: And I will give this people favor (grace) in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. Genesis 6:8 When the children of Israel put the blood of the lamb on the doorposts of their homes, they were demonstrating faith in the God of Israel to deliver them and they were being obedient to what He asked them to do. Their salvation and deliverance from the Egyptians came by grace, through faith. This is Torah righteousness. This is also stated in the prophets. What Paul was getting at in Romans 10:1-3 was that he was warning them not to put the Oral Torah (the Talmud and the teachings of the Pharisees) above the written Torah, in trying to establish their own righteousness. This is what Paul was addressing. Welcome to the first episode in the RELIGION series of Smartest Person in the Room. For the next few weeks we’ll be hearing stories about people living within their religion, defined here as a “cultural system of behaviors and practices, often (but not always) in relation to something deemed sacred." This episode is about the divide between modern day American Evangelical Christianity and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, otherwise known as LDS or Mormons. For purposes of clarity, in this conversation I refer to my guest Nish Weiseth as a “mainstream” Christian and to guest Emily Belle Freeman as a Mormon. Both living in Utah, Nish and Emily have partnered together to bridge the gaping divide between these two faiths that both follow Jesus. With their combined influence in both the Evangelical and Latter-day Saint traditions, Emily & Nish have decided to take on the difficult task of getting Mormons and Christians to listen to one another and learn from each other. They work as a pair, speaking to both Mormon and Christian congregations, but they also spend a lot of time in their own camps, trying to dismantle some of the misinformation and stereotypes that each side has of the other. Their hope is that Mormons and Christians will eventually be able to put aside their differences in order to impact the world for good, together. Their online hub is called Multiply Goodness, which includes a blog, resources and more, on how people can start doing this inter-faith work in their own communities. In this episode we talk about: The main theological differences between the Mormon faith and modern American evangelical Christianity. If each faith tradition believes the other one is going to hell. How Nish & Emily met and formed an unlikely partnership. Why it's WOMEN who are leading this charge. You can follow SPITR on Facebook or sign up for our episode emails.
