#308: Moving From Blame to Ownership In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am talking about 2 words that have been very powerful on my journey….Ownership and Blame! These two words are complete opposites and when we focus our language, energy, and mindset on one, the other can't survive. When we focus on blame we are giving our power away and when we focus on ownership we are taking our power back. We get to choose which one we focus on and our focus can literally change the direction and progress we make in our lives! In this episode we talk about: Blaming others for our circumstances is literally giving our power away and it is stopping us from creating any change in our lives. The energy of blaming keeps us stuck and living as a victim and subconsciously keeps us in limbo that our life cannot change until XYZ changes.  That could mean a lifetime of waiting and quite possibly NO change ever happening in our lives! Ownership is taking radical responsibility for yourself.  That includes all of your choices, thoughts, actions, reactions, decisions, and how you respond to life around you.  This is where your power is, is in full ownership! The reasons that we don't take ownership are fear of judgment of others, fear of criticism, etc.   Literally, all the reasons are about things that you have zero control over!  You are using that energy to control things you can't control instead of using it to control the things you can control, which is YOU! Your power is truly hidden in the stories that you are desperately trying to hide from the world.  Our stories, our humanness is what connects all of us to each other.  That is how we see that we are not alone, that we are truly more alike than different. Our mistakes and our lessons actually connect us to each other.Owning Your Story Program (revamped version starting in October)https://www.marshavanw.com/offers/SEZQcqh9?coupon_code=OYSPRESALE Blocks to Owning Your Story Quizhttps://www.marshavanw.com/story-blocks Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life CoachMarsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. 117: Your Voice is Powerful - IWD 2020 In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am celebrating International Woman’s Day 2020 by saying thank you to all of the women who have gone before me to pave the way for what I am creating.   I share some tips that have created an impact in my life and I hope that they will do the same for you. In this episode, we discuss: Going back to the beginning (5-6 years ago) when I felt so alone, isolated and had no idea what to do next. I knew I didn’t want to feel the way I did but didn’t know where you start.  I joined facebook groups, I hid in the background watching, observing until I could find the courage to speak up and trust my voice.  Eventually I started attending events, hiring coaches, and joining programs to learn how to change my circumstances.  These were all lead by incredible women who went first! When you are feeling stuck, alone and not sure what to do next, how can you BE the change you wish you could see in the world? Who can you support, who can you give back to without any expectation in return?  Who can you celebrate, because when your sister wins, you win too! Where can you speak up and use your voice, even and especially when you are scared? My biggest advice is to stop doing it alone. That is never the way.  We always go further together.   Connect with Marsha: Book your FREE IMPACT call https://calendly.com/mvanwyn761/impact-call Fill out the Radical Responsibility Mastermind Application to book your Discovery call https://forms.gle/KWFSB1a42eSP9yx8A   About me – Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. #115: "Breaking Through Your Energy Blocks” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am sharing my tips on the power of energy blocks in our life.  Energy is our GPS that is trying to direct us towards potential opportunites and away from things that are not working for us.  When our energy is poor or low, it becomes this massive block in our life that stops other opportunites from reaching us.  The opposite is that every time our energy is high, we become a magnet for opportunities that we couldn't see before.  We are the ones who can change our energy.  It is truly our responsibility!   In this episode, we discuss: Identify where our energy is high and low in our life. Where can we listen to the signs our energy is giving us? Where can we trust what our energy is telling us? Where can we take ownership of what is and is not working in our lives. This is where we have the ability to create change. #113: "One of My Fav Brene Brown Quotes” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am sharing one of my fav Brene Brown quotes: “ I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through the process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”  ~ Brene Brown   In this episode, we discuss: Embracing change and everything that life is trying to bring to us, yet we are blocked by our “stories” or our shame of what everyone else will think of us. Ownership literally changes everything. We cannot change anything if we don’t own it first and if we don’t own it, it owns you. Loving ourselves with compassion and grace through our difficult stories is truly the only way to live. It takes tremendous practice to learn how to do this, yet it is such a powerful lesson. Learn to accept and maybe eventually love the lessons your story is teaching you. Don’t make it about the trauma of the story, shift it to be about the lessons you’ve learned. We are being guided by our future self, by our intuition, and learning from all of the experiences that we have lived! We are literally our best teacher!   In this episode, we discuss: Accepting that in order to create change we must recognize that we must commit to doing the work. Coaching with mentors is important, yet we have to do the work too! Ask yourself the hard questions: Am I happy? If no, what needs to change to change this? What do I need more of or less than in order to change this? Do my choices line up with what I want to create or where I want my life to go? Recognize that you have made a number of choices that have brought you to here and you truly have overcome a number of obstacles and challenges. “10 Signs of Inner Strength” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am sharing my thoughts on the 10 Signs of Inner Strength.  There is far more than 10, and these aren’t the only 10.  These are the 10 that resonate with me.  I regularly receive messages asking, “how do I stay strong”, and “how do I stay motivated” etc. No one ever stays strong or stays motivated. It is a regular daily practice made up from our daily habits, rituals and practices.  There are so many more things I could have added to this list, these were the ones that stood out to me today.   In this episode we talk about the 10 signs of inner strength: 1. Accepting that we don’t have to know it all.  In fact this is impossible to do, and this is from pressure we are putting on ourselves that is completely unattainable. 2. Follow and listen to the energy.  When our internal energy is off, it is telling us that we are not doing enough to fill our own cups, and we are relying solely on ourselves to find the solution. 3. When we recognize that we don’t have all the answers, our next step is asking for help.  Whether it is in business, our personal lives, etc., we must accept that asking for help is not weakness it is a sign of strength.  When we surround ourselves with the right people we have a better chance of asking for help and not feeling that it is a sign of weakness. 4. Saying NO.  Practice it, and say it with no guilt or stress. Honouring what we need, listening and following through is an incredibly important practice to build our inner strength. 5. When we say no to something else, we give ourselves a chance to say yes to ourselves.  We must make ourselves a priority in our lives if we are to give ourselves a fighting chance to handle all of the different responsibilities we have on our plates. 6. Stop living in comparisonitis.  Constantly comparing our journey to others, is never accurate, we truly don’t know someone else’s story, and it causes us to forget what we are truly capable of and how powerful we are! 7. Accepting and practicing radical ownership of ourselves, our actions, choices, and decisions reminds us that we are in the drivers seat in our lives. 8. Be kind toward others, especially when life is challenging. Kindness and gratitude put us into a higher vibration, lifting our energy and reminding us that someone else is struggling more than we are.  This can help to change our perspective away from ourselves. 9. Ask where can we shift our perspective from being a victim to asking what is this trying to teach me, and how can we use these lessons to help impact, serve and support others. 10. Recognize what we do have, what we are capable of, what we have overcome, what lessons have we learned and truly how freaking badass we all truly are!   Connect with Marsha: Book your FREE IMPACT call https://calendly.com/mvanwyn761/impact-call

105:  The Power of Impact In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am sharing my experience from sharing my story at a recent event and the power of impact. Impact means having an effect on or making a difference in someone’s life. It means paying it forward to ease someone else’s journey. It is encouraging women to build heart centered businesses built from the lessons they learned from their stories. We cannot create impact when we are hiding from the world and not allowing our true authentic self to be seen. In this episode we talk about: 1. We are all capable of creating impact in our own lives and in the lives of others. 2. We can make impact when we stop making it about ourselves. Shifting our thinking to remember that others are experiencing challenges in their lives too. 3. We must stop playing small.  It doesn’t serve us, and it doesn’t serve anyone else either.  We must use our gifts that we uncovered while going through our challenges and use those gifts to impact, serve and support others. 4. When in doubt, take the global view.  Step back and take a wide-angle view of what is going on in our lives, where can we shift things, where can we make improvements, and maybe we can see that we are actually doing better than we think! After all we tend to be our own worst critics. 5. Everyone is capable of creating impact for others.  Someone somewhere is praying for our solutions and lessons. We must remember times when we were struggling and how it could have helped if someone else went first. Someone has to go first. 6. There is a purpose for our pain, and uncovering the purpose helps us with our healing process.  The stronger we are, the more we take care of ourselves, the more we can show up in the world and yes, the bigger the impact we can make in this world! About me – Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Through her programs, coaching and live events for women, Marsha is on a mission to teach you how to “Own Your Choices” in your own life.  She teaches women how to own their stories, lead themselves and pay it forward to others by creating businesses that serve, support and impact others.

#103: "The Energy of Making Decisions” In this Monday Mindset Episode, we are diving the energy we expend in making decisions.  I am sharing a lesson I recently learned, regarding how much energy we waste in contemplating decisions without ever making them.  Not making the decisions is actually blocking you from the opportunities meant for you.  Today I am sharing the 5 tips to helping you make a decision faster and from a place of ownership and never blame. In this episode, we discuss: Being conscious of how much energy are you wasting on one decision without ever making it? Focus on the energy you are feeling when you are contemplating the decision, the scenario and what you want to do next. Energy never lies.  It is always directing us to the path to follow. If you are feeling stuck and stagnant, where can you make one choice to get into action. That step of action can start the path of potential momentum. Where can you listen to your intuition and trust the process? When you make a decision how can you speak from a space of ownership instead of blame? Stop trying to control all of the possible outcomes that are unpredictable and outside of your control. Focus on what you can control and that is always yourself. #92: “Where is Your Emotional Home?” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am sharing my experience from attending The Power of Success Event in Toronto where I had the pleasure of hearing Tony Robbins, Rachel Hollis, John Gray, Gary John Bishop, Molly Bloom and many other speakers. One message in particular from Tony Robbins hit home for me. He spoke about acknowledging where our “emotional home” is.  This is the place that we continuously go back to, most times without even thinking about it.  It is so subconscious that we our thoughts, mindset, energy and beliefs drift back to our old patterns and our old ways.  If we are going to make a change in our lives, we must recognize our patterns, our normal ways of sabotaging ourselves and come face to face with our emotional home. Attending events in personal development, hiring the coaches and committing to bettering ourselves is great.  The intentions won't be long lived or successful if we don't address some of these issues. The quality of our life is determined by where we live emotionally. In this episode we talk about: 1. Acknowledging what our emotional home is.  Is it stress, worry, anxiety, fear, paralysis, inaction, judgement etc.?  We cannot change anything if we do not acknowledge and accept what our old patterns are. This is where all change starts. 2. We can have the best intentions for creating change in our lives, if we don't understand our methods for self-sabotage and come up with some alternatives, the law of familiarity will kick in and bring us back to where we started. 3. We all have potential to create any change we want to create in our lives.  If we don't take action steps, potential means nothing.  We must get into action to give us results, positive or negative. Either way it is simply feedback for us to learn which direction we want to go next, and this in turn builds our certainty and belief in ourselves. This helps us to build the confidence and courage to use our potential again. 4. The first choice we all have to make is what do we focus on?!  What we focus on we feel.  That means if it is all negative, scarcity, comparison, doubt and fear, then that is all that we will see.  That only drops our energy, drains us of our potential and keeps us stuck in our original space and mindset.  Hence, no change happens. 5. If you don't decide what you want to focus on the world will decide for you, and this will not create change either. 6. What are your action steps, your strategic plans for when self-sabotage kicks in?  Call it out, see what your normal patterns are and when it happens, and it will, change the pattern instantly in the moment.  Change can happen that quickly when we shift that every and change that pattern to one that takes us closer to where we want to go in our lives. 7. You can change your emotional home at any time by following these action steps, and that is when lasting change occurs in your life

I also share the information on the Radical Responsibility Mastermind starting January 20th, 2020.  This is the space you want to be in if you want to learn how to Out your story, Own your story and learn how to stand On your story to build a platform business to impact, serve and support others.   We have to “out” our old story. Our old stories that we are holding onto outline the patterns that we keep repeating. We have to learn how to Own our choices and take full ownership for our stories, our choices, actions, reactions, decisions, thoughts and beliefs. Nothing changes without ownership. Learning how to stand on your story, means you are no longer stuck as a victim, stuck in a space of no change or reliving all the past excuses or reasons why your life hasn’t changed. Learning how to stand On your story is literally where all change begins! These steps will work with any goal you are working toward, as well as any helping you to overcome all the reasons in the past why it hasn’t worked before. In this Monday Mindset Episode, first I am celebrating the 100th episode of this podcast! I am so ridiculously grateful for each of you supporting this podcast, and I am proud of airing 100 episodes. Are there things I would do differently? Yes of course. We live and learn when we stay in action and we can shift and grow as life continues to change. This podcast has gone through a few changes since it started ~ 2 years ago. As a special thank you I am offering a gift of one free ticket for The Power of Owning Your Choices Live Event on April 4th, 2020. Go to iTunes to post a review. Take a screenshot and share it to social media and tag me @marshavanw on Instagram or Marsha Vanwynsberghe on FB, and your name will be entered into a draw for one free ticket. Promo starts, December 30th, 2019 – January 3rd, 2020 Today I am diving into a topic that answers the question about how to be more resilient in our lives. When I posted this question on social media of what topic to cover on my 100th episode, resiliency was one of the top questions I was asked. I truly believe that ownership is the key to resiliency. In this episode, I dive into my thoughts on ownership, what it means, how it helps us build resiliency, and what do I personally do when I hit the wall with a challenge. 1. Resiliency is like courage, it is a verb. It is not something we have or don’t have. It is something we build by our choices every single day. 2. Learning how to take radical ownership, simply massive responsibility for our choices, thoughts, actions, reactions, and decisions is the way to create change in our life which helps in building resiliency. 3. We must not live in or blame others for our life. Blame is the complete opposite of ownership and blame will never allow us to build resiliency. 4. I share what I do when I hit the wall with challenges, and when this happens, I let myself experience the emotions, I evaluate my role in the situation, I let go of my ego and ask for help and stay open to receiving the support, and then I move. I get into action, make a choice, do something to create movement. 5. We can all build resiliency when we choose to put in the daily work to build this muscle. #89: “When the Doubt Creeps In” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am openly sharing my thoughts on doubt.  Yes, I am being vulnerable and real as doubt is something that can creep into my life and gain a ton of momentum if I let it.  I work to catch it before it gets to that stage! In this episode we talk about: 1. Doubt is a normal part of life.  We experience doubt multiple times every day because it is based on what we know and what we have already created.  Anything that we want outside of that spectrum will require us to expand our thinking, mindset and personal beliefs. 2. We must choose to build contrary evidence that we can achieve, accomplish or attempt something new.  It is our belief, so it is up to us to change it! 3. When we overthink, over process, overanalyze everything, we continue to feed the doubt.  We must build new practices that negate the power that we are giving our doubts. 4. We must buy into new stories, new beliefs and new possibilities in order to stop the momentum that doubt is building in our lives. 5. Doubt and faith cannot live in the same place.  We must consciously choose faith if we want to create a different or a new reality for ourselves.  It is always in our hands. 6. Stop resisting doubt or fighting it.  This only feeds it and gives it more power.  We are the ones that can change that, by writing a new story and creating new beliefs. 7. Name your doubt, recognize that it is just your ego trying to keep you safe and small.  Say, “no thank you, not today, I’ve got this.” If the door doesn’t lead you in the direction you expected, simply course correct and change direction! 8. You are here for a reason and you are more capable than you know! Trust that you’ve got this and take one action step and watch your life shift! #83: “Get Your Butt in the Seats – The Power of Live Events” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I talk about the power of live events! Over the last ten years, I have attended multiple live events, through personal development, work, business and professional development.  I have gone to local events, weekend retreats, weeklong events and events on a plane all by myself.  All of them have been transformational for different reasons. I choose which ones to attend based on where I am at in my life, who is speaking, who I want to learn from and who is on the path I want to continue to step in, follow and learn from.  As I get ready to attend and speak at the Great Canadian Woman Summit in Gravenhurst, Ontario this upcoming weekend, I am beyond excited to share some of my takeaway as to why I think it is so important to attend live events. In this episode we talk about: 1. Live events are a massive opportunity for personal growth, in all areas of our lives.  Choose to attend events that are slightly or hugely outside of your comfort zone. These ones hold the largest opportunity for change and growth. 2. Events are a great way to break the stagnation in our lives. Events are a shift in energy, opportunities to push our comfort zone, and see what we are truly capable of. We tend to surprise ourselves when we step into these arenas! 3. This is the opportunity to learn something new.  I encourage people to focus on 1-2 tips/strategies or tools that they can take and implement immediately in their lives. It is impossible to take in all of the information and we aren’t meant to. Instead focus on the points that resonate and speak to you the most.  They are likely the points that are the easiest to implement. 4. This is an opportunity to meet your tribe of people.  If you are feeling alone, isolated and not sure what step to take next, step into the rooms of the people you want to learn from, and you will find new people who are walking a similar path as you. 5. This is an opportunity to meet, collaborate and learn from others. As an early mentor of mine, Cathy Savage always said, “a group of women can have the exact same business, yet when they learn to truly bring themselves to the table it changes everything.” There is no room for competition, only collaboration and events are a great steppingstone to collaboration. 6. Plan ahead, look at the next 3 – 12 months and figure out what events you would like to attend, who you would like to learn from and budget accordingly.  You can’t possibly attend everything, create a ranking system and decide what speaks to you the most, depending on where you are in your journey. #81: “What You Are Holding Onto is Holding You Back” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I talk about the things that are holding us back in our lives.  From people, to experiences, resentment, memories, pain, limiting beliefs, all of it is holding us back.  The more we hold onto things we cannot change or control, the more we are stopping ourselves or limiting what we go after in the future.  Whatever we tell ourselves, we believe to be true and that will hold us back from going after any new opportunities or experiences.  We get to decide what we are holding onto and how much power that will have over us in our lives.     In this episode we talk about: 1. When we choose to carry too many things in our lives such as pain, resentment, anger, past decisions, hurt etc., we are increasing the possibility of being overwhelmed, and accomplishing little or literally nothing. 2. Take a close look at what you are carrying and how it is weighing you down, even deciding how heavy the load is as it is holding you back. Literally, your hands are so full of yesterday's issues and “stuff” that you have no room to carry anything new. This leaves no room for change to come into your life. 3. Who is this serving?  What is this allowing you to change?  Where is this choice keeping you stuck? 4. Are you carrying things that you have no business carrying? If so, you are subconsciously giving your power back to your stories and to your past.  Again, there is no room for opportunities for the future, your hands are full! 5. Specifically look at what you are carrying and decide what you can put down.  Making room, space in your life will leave so much space for the unimaginable! 6. Where can you surrender and completely let go of control in your life? The more you can embody this act of letting go, the more you can own your choices and take full control of the future direction of your life.     Connect with Marsha: Learn more about the Leverage Your Story Mastermind https://www.marshavanw.com/leverage-your-story-mastermind Book your interview for the Leverage Your Story Mastermind https://calendly.com/mvanwyn761/leverage-your-story-6-month-mastermind-program Check out my website - https://www.marshavanw.com/ Join the Own Your Choices Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/Ownyourchoicesplatform/ Connect on Facebook -- https://www.facebook.com.marshavanwynsberghe Connect on Instagram -- https://www.instagram.com/marshavanw/     About me – Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. Literally, your hands are so full of yesterday’s issues and “stuff” that you have no room to carry anything new. This leaves no room for change to come into your life. 3. Who is this serving?  What is this allowing you to change?  Where is this choice keeping you stuck? 4. Are you carrying things that you have no business carrying? #79: “What Happens After You Hit the Wall?” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am sharing my experiences with “hitting the wall” on my own journey. We have all hit the wall before, for some of us it happens multiple times over in our lives! As with everything it is knowing what to do next.  These next steps can change everything for us! What happens when we hit the wall? How do we recognize the signs or avoid the wall altogether? What do we do next to move through this experience? In this episode we talk about: 1. Owning the power of the word CHOICE!  Even if it feels like we don’t have a choice, we always have a choice in how we react, respond and work through situations that are truly outside of our control! 2. Focusing on our next step and our next choice. 3. Reviewing how we hit the wall in the first place?  What was missing in our lives that put us in that position?  Lack of self-care, ignoring what we needed in our life, or trying to control circumstances outside of our control?  Or is it a set of circumstances that keep happening, lessons that are trying to teach us something or is it a season or a period of time in your life that may be challenging? 4. Focusing on WHAT happens next?  Your very next decision may have nothing to do with fixing or changing the wall, yet it might have everything to do with assisting or allowing you to stand back up and take one more step.  The WHAT is truly about what you need to keep going to work through your circumstances. 5. What has to change?  If you look back and take an inventory of the situation, what could you have done to have a different outcome?  What choices or decisions could you have made earlier on that may have led to a different outcome or maybe not hitting the wall altogether? 6. How can you recognize the signs to better see the wall coming in the first place?  Preparation, combined with new lessons, observations and choices, may lead to a completely different outcome! #77: “Ownership & Blame Don't Live in the Same Place” In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am talking about 2 words that have been very powerful on my journey….Ownership and Blame! These two words are complete opposites and when we focus our language, energy and mindset on one, the other can't survive. When we focus on blame we are giving our power away and when we focus on ownership we are taking our power back. We get to choose which one we focus on and our focus can literally change the direction and progress we make in our lives! In this episode we talk about: 1. Blaming others for our circumstances is literally giving our power away and it is stopping us from creating any change in our lives. 2. The energy of blaming keeps us stuck and living as a victim and subconsciously keeps us in limbo that our life cannot change until XYZ changes.  That could mean a lifetime of waiting and quite possibly NO change ever happening in our lives! 3. Ownership is you taking radical responsibility for yourself.  That includes all of your choices, thoughts, actions, reactions, decisions, and how you respond to life around you.  This is where your power is, is in full ownership! 4. The reasons that we don't take ownership are because of fear of judgment of others, fear of criticism etc.   Literally all the reasons are about things that you have zero control over!  You are using that energy to control things you can't control instead of using it to control the things you can control, which is YOU! 5. Your power is truly hidden in the stories that you are desperately trying to hide from the world.  Our stories, our humanness is what connects all of us to each other.  That is how we see that we are not alone, that we are truly more alike than different. Our mistakes and our lessons actually connect us to each other. 6. There are two opportunities to learn more info on HOW to implement this in your life….The Leverage Your Story Mastermind…enrollment is open for 6 more spots until the end of September.  The second opportunity is The Inspired Life Project, now called The Own Your Choices Live Event on Sunday, November 3rd,  is open for ticket sales! #75: “What is Holding You Back?" In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am talking about What is Actually Holding us Back! It is the last four months of 2019. Are you still pursuing the same goals from the beginning of January?  If not, what is stopping you? When we break down the things that are stopping us from reaching forward toward our goals, we quickly realize that it’s all on us.  It is our choice what we are doing, not doing, chasing, working towards or stopping us. It is all our choice. In this episode we talk about: 1. Recognizing the “stories”, excuses, and limitations that we take on from other people.  It is easy to believe the thoughts and opinions from others, because truthfully it is easier to stay smaller. Don’t follow the easy path, follow the path that is calling you to use your gifts.  That is where we make the biggest impact! 2. Letting the fear of judgement of others dictate and limit your life is a waste of your gifts and talent.  No one will ever judge you more than you judge yourself, so don’t give the opinions of others that much weight! 3. Being embarrassed to share your stories, to show up as your true authentic self, to share your “humanness” with others is simply showing your judgement of yourself.  Stop being so hard on yourself. It is time to give yourself some self-compassion, grace and forgiveness. 4. The shame that we carry from our stories is weighing us down, it is out of control.  Shame loves secrecy, so the more we hide and bury ourselves in shame, the more shame wins.  We must give a voice to our stories, to the lessons that we learned even to help ourselves move forward. 5. A lack of boundaries is a direct relationship to the anxiety we experience.  Learning how to create and implement boundaries can be life changing. 6. The limits that we are choosing to stop us from pursuing our goals, are all limits that we are choosing.  If we are responsible for choosing them, we can also let them go.  They don’t have to be our limits.  We don’t have to accept any of these limits.  Let’s not be the reasons that we are holding ourselves back. They don't have to be our limits.  We don't have to accept any of these limits.  Let's not be the reasons that we are holding ourselves back.   Connect with Marsha: Book your interview for the Leverage Your Story Mastermind https://calendly.com/mvanwyn761/leverage-your-story-6-month-mastermind-program Check out my website - https://www.marshavanw.com/ Join the Own Your Choices Facebook Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/Ownyourchoicesplatform/ Connect on Facebook -- https://www.facebook.com.marshavanwynsberghe Connect on Instagram -- https://www.instagram.com/marshavanw/   About me – Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life Coach Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. #73: “The Power of Ownership...What Does it Mean?" In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am talking about the power of ownership.  Ownership is truly the cornerstone for all of the changes in my own personal life. Learning how to own my own choices helped me let go of all the anger, hurt and resentment in my life.  Learning the power of ownership led to freedom in my life.  Freedom from the judgement of others, freedom from the shame of my story.  Learning to own my choices truthfully led me to owning my own life!! In this episode we talk about: 1. We all have stories, whether we borrow them from others, or we just accept that it’s the way our life has to be.  When we accept it as our story, we let it limit and control what we do in our lives.  We miss opportunities because we don’t see them when we are hiding in our stories. Owning our stories is the first step to changing them. 2. If you don’t OWN your story, it OWNS you!! 3. If your story gives you feelings of guilt or shame, then you owe it to yourself and to others in your life to learn how to stand ON it and not IN it!  You deserve to find the FREEDOM from learning to OWN your story! 4. When we are taking responsibility for everyone else’s behaviour, choices and trying to fix, manage or control everyone else’s behaviour, we are putting our most valuable resource of our energy into things that won’t create any change in our lives.  We must put that energy into ourselves, and into creating change in our own lives.  Being the change, we wish to see in this world is how we can create change in the lives of others. 5. Learning how to unwrap or unpack our stories helps us to see all the details. This helps us to take the birds eye view and embrace the lessons we learned, to see our role in the story, to see our gifts and to see how we can make a difference for others.  Someone is praying for a solution and you have the answers. 6. Tap into the energy, the emotions, and the feelings and that allows you to connect to others.  It allows for others to see you as you truly are.  No more hiding. 7. Ownership is the first step to creating change in your life.  It all starts with owning your choices first! #71: “What is Your Anger Costing You? " In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am talking about the anger we hold onto and how it is impacting all areas of our lives. It is actually costing us more than we could ever imagine.  It is robbing us of opportunities.  It is affecting our energy and attracting more of what we DON’T want in our lives.   Today I am sharing some tips in my own personal perspective of the impact of anger in our lives! In this episode we talk about:  1. The weight of anger, and how long we decide to carry it determines the impact it has in our lives.  2. Why we are carrying it, what it is doing to us and how it is holding us back from living the lives we are here to live.  3. Anger is such a low vibe emotion and it only attracts more of what we don’t want in our lives.  4. Who is the anger hurting, who is it not serving and why are we carrying it?  5. Every day we have opportunities to react, respond and choose our emotions.  Life is going to happen to us every single day and we can choose how we respond to what life is throwing at us.  Our choices affect everything. Learning to shift our perspective can shift everything.  6. Taking radical responsibility for our choices, our actions, and our reactions can truly make a bigger impact in our lives than we could ever imagine! 7. #69: Trusting the Process When Life Doesn't Make Sense" In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am talking about how to find a way to trust the process when life doesn't make sense.   When we are in the midst of challenges piled on challenges, it's easy to get stuck in the “why questions”, the overwhelm and the frustrations.  Others tell us to “trust the process and have faith”, yet it can feel almost impossible when we are in the thick of it.  I have been and, on some level, continue to be challenged to put my lessons into practice in my life.  Today I am sharing 6 tips that I find helpful while life just doesn't seem to make sense! In this episode we talk about:  1. Stop asking the questions that start with WHY. The word why is a victim word and it keeps us stuck in our stories.  We must shift our questions to the word “what”, as that is an action word that keeps us in motion focusing on what we can control, change or fix within ourselves.  2. Ask the universe, “what is this trying to teach me?”  We are forever learning lessons in our lives and what if this is here to help you with a lesson that you have yet to embody.  We can learn all the lessons, read the books and listen to the podcasts, yet until we embody our lessons and put them into practice, we truly aren't using them yet.  That is when we learn.  3. Create a mantra to say to yourself, to ground yourself and keep you focused on what you can control! 4. Ask for help, don't do it alone, stop hiding, and stop feeding the shame.  This never works and only keeps us stuck in our shame.  Creating your tribe is another podcast episode topic, for now reach out to ask for help and support with people who deserve to hear your story. It is not weakness.  Vulnerability is an act of courage.   5. Time block your schedule to match energy with energy.  The more we can keep ourselves grounded daily, focused on our “wheelhouse”, or area of expertise, matching energy in with energy out, the bigger the difference it can make in our own lives, especially during moments chaos! 6. Surrender, surrender, surrender.  Letting go of what you cannot control is a sign of strength and will truly be the most freeing feeling you can imagine!   Connect with Marsha: Book your interview for the Collaborative book & Mastermind Opportunity https://calendly.com/mvanwyn761/30min Book your Discovery Call: https://calendly.com/mvanwyn761 Check out my website -  https://www.marshavanw.com/ Join the Facebook Group for our Collaborative Book Project https://www.facebook.com/groups/2484404824955092/ Connect on Facebook -- https://www.facebook.com.marshavanwynsberghe Connect on Instagram --  https://www.instagram.com/marshavanw/   About me –  Marsha Vanwynsberghe — Author, Speaker and Life Coach  Marsha is the 6-time Bestselling Author of “When She Stopped Asking Why”.  She shares her lessons as a parent who dealt with teen substance abuse far past the level of normal experimentation. #67: "We Never Have It All Figured Out" In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am debunking a common myth or misconception.   After interviewing almost 45+ women for the Collaborative Book, there have been some very common misconceptions or thoughts from others that I felt called to address to hopefully stop the stories we keep telling ourselves.  The women who have stepped forward to share their chapter in the collaborative book, or even to the people who are sharing their stories publicly in the world do not have it all figured out.  Believing that everyone else has it figured out limits what you believe you can do, especially when you hit the wall, which you WILL hit!! We are ALL a work in progress, and we are literally growing every single day.  If we are growing and changing every single day, how can we possibly have it all figured out?! In this episode we talk about:  1. When we compare ourselves to others and believe that we can't do x,y,z, because we don't have what someone else has, we are not staying focused or true to our journey.  We are allowing our thoughts and energy to be on someone else's journey and that will never create change in our lives.  2. We are ALL a work in progress every single day! 3. We are responsible for building, growing and expanding our own toolbox. When we compare ourselves to others and believe that we can’t do x,y,z, because we don’t have what someone else has, we are not staying focused or true to our journey.  We are allowing our thoughts and energy to be on someone else’s journey and that will never create change in our lives.  2. We are ALL a work in progress every single day! 3. We are responsible for building, growing and expanding our own toolbox. Our toolbox is a collection of all of the experiences, lessons and things that we have learned in our lifetime.  It is our responsibility to grow our toolbox, no one else’s.   4. #65: "When Our Strengths Become Our Weaknesses" In this Monday Mindset Episode, I am sharing one of the most impactful life lessons I have ever learned.  Our strengths will take us so far in our lives. They will help us to overcome challenges, achieve our goals and help us to persist when we hit roadblocks.  There comes a point in our lives when doing the same thing won't yield different results and we have to learn a new way of living.  For most of us, it takes years, a lifetime or never to embrace this lesson.  It requires us to accept that we don't have the answer and be open to receiving new answers.  This is a growth shift that is necessary for us to create change in our lives. Today I am sharing 5 steps I had to go through to shift my thinking to survive one of the darkest times in my life, and that led me actually thriving in my life.  It literally changed everything and I know it can make a massive difference in your life too! In this episode we talk about:  1. Make a list of all of your current strengths. Don't edit, censor or limit yourself. If you really don't know, ask a friend or someone who knows you well.  2. Write down all of the things that your strengths have helped you to overcome.  How did your strengths save you and help you to overcome all of the challenges in your life? 3. Write down where you are stuck in your life? What problem or situation are you repeating and how long have you been trying to create change or results in this area?  Is it working?  How much longer will you stay on this path?   4. How could you look at your approach or this situation differently?  How can you shift your perspective? How can you ask for help, try something new or admit that maybe you don't have the answers?  What if someone else has the answers you are searching for?  Are you open to receiving them?  5. What if it is a completely different approach that will create the change you are looking for?  What if your healing process is on the other side of this one shift? #63: "Finding Purpose in Your Story" In this Monday Mindset Episode, we talk about finding our purpose and how to find our purpose in our stories.  Finding our purpose in life can feel likes a ton of pressure as though it is this massive thing to uncover.  Our purpose is meant to be simple, easy, what lights us up, what fuels us and what feels in alignment.  I believe our purpose is also wrapped up in our gifts, talents and abilities and what we choose to do with it is ultimately our choice.  I also dive into the 7 steps to uncover our purpose from our stories.  In this episode we talk about:  1. Identifying your purpose by recognizing what feeds your energy, what fuels you, lights you up and feels easy or in alignment.   2. The belief that we all have a purpose.  It all starts here because if we don’t feel we have one that we won’t even be able to see our potential purpose.  3. Breaking down our core values, what is important to us, what is part of us, and the 5 – 6 values that become the basis of all of our decisions.  4. The process of writing out your whole story, as far back as you can recall and as much detail as you can remember.  When we do this a pattern will start to emerge and you will be able to identify a pattern that you have repeatedly found yourself in in your life.  5. What are the lessons you learned during these challenges, or these patterns you repeated?  There were consistently things that you had to learn, grow through, adapt and take on in order to work through your situations.  What were they?  6. Where in your story did you feel the most aligned? Where did you feel the most confident, calm, and convicted with your purpose and your path? Do these lessons line up with your values?  7. Are you living in that purpose now?  Are you living in it in any area of your life? If not, how aligned do you feel in your current life right now? 8. What are you willing to do about it?  We all have our gifts, talents and abilities. #61: "7 Steps to Shifting Your Story" In this Monday Mindset Episode we talk about the steps to shifting your story.  Our stories have power and we decide how much power those stories have in our lives.  It may seem obvious that we have to create a shift in the story, but it can feel overwhelming with where to even start.  Our story has whatever meaning we give to it, if we want it to have different meaning, it is up to us to change it. Today I share the 7 steps I have used regularly to shift my perspective in the story which ultimately shifts the power back to me.  After 5 weeks of discovery calls with people on how to own, share and write their stories, these were the top points I put together after helping so many women with their stories.   In this episode we talk about:  1. The point of decision.  Nothing happens without deciding that we want something differently in our lives.  It is up to us to decide what we do or don’t want in our lives.  2. The power of learning to ask different questions. Stop asking the why, victim questions, and focus on the what am I going to do with this.  Learn to ask how can I be more resilient?  What am I missing?  How can I ask for help?  Changing our questions, changes how we think about our circumstances.  3. Being brave with our lives.  As Brene Brown says, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we will ever do.”  Being brave with our lives, helps us to build our courage and this happens whenever we get in to action.  Action shifts everything! 4. Be willing to learn from others.  We can learn from the journey of others, from their wins, their mistakes, how they overcame their struggles and it gives us ideas and hope for what we can do in our own lives and for what is possible.  5. Self-compassion is a must.  Self compassion is learning to honour our journey, believing that we are enough as this gives us the courage to be our true authentic, imperfect and vulnerable selves.  6. Giving ourselves grace for doing the best that we could under the circumstances.  If we can make the best decision with the information that we have at that time, that is honouring our process.  7. 7. Start somewhere, literally.  Journal, write, speak, get it out of your head, and help to shift the power of your story in your life.  It is all possible! #59: "Stop Snowballing Your Fears" In this Monday Mindset Episode we talk about how easy it is to snowball our fears. We feed them, we let them gain momentum and before we know it they're driving the wheel.  We are responsible for that snowball effect.  When we find ways to shift from fear to faith we can recognize the snowball, slow it down and stop it all together. We cannot feed our fears and faith at the same time, we must choose one over the other.  This goes for anything in our lives.  Today I will relate it to the fears we experience when sharing our stories.  Today I share the top questions I am asked about our the fears surrounding sharing our stories.  I am asked these questions on a consistent basis In this episode we talk about:  1. The fears around not being a great writer, speaker, coach, communicator, or whatever BS story you are telling yourself.  This all changes with messy, imperfect action.  2. What will people think of me for sharing my story? What people!?! Tune in for my response.  3. Will people judge me for sharing my story? Guess what my answer is?! 4. What if I don't feel that my story is special or important enough? Our stories all matter because we all matter.  Everyone has something to contribute, share and give in this world and our stories create who we are.  They make a massive impact in our lives and the sooner we acknowledge that, the sooner we can be on the path to being “free” from the weight of our stories.  5. What to do when you really want to share your story, but you can't stop feeding the fears?  6. Learn to stand ON your story instead of IN it. The reason why it feels like your story doesn't matter is because you are continuing to live in it.  When we live in it, we are on a repeat cycle of frustration, comparison, resentment, anger and victimhood.  No change comes from this cycle.   7. The power of becoming a pillar of hope for someone else! #57: "Your Story Matters" In this Monday Mindset Episode we talk about how all of our stories matter. When we are going through difficult times we tend to retreat from the world and hide.  It is our way of avoiding being hurt, judged, criticized or even being seen.  The problem is that living this way provides no solutions and definitely no changes!   Today I share the tops reasons why our stories all matter.  When we acknowledge that our stories, experiences and lessons are the make-up of who we are and who we are becoming, we truly can find and create freedom in our lives.  In this episode we talk about:  1. Our stories all matter because we all matter. Everyone has something to contribute, share and give in this world and our stories create who we are.  They make a massive impact in our lives and the sooner we acknowledge that, the sooner we can be on the path to being “free” from the weight of our stories.  2. The reason why it feels like your story doesn’t matter is because you are continuing to live in it.  When we live in it, we are on a repeat cycle of frustration, comparison, resentment, anger and victimhood.  No change comes from this cycle.   3. Our stories connect us, remind us that we are human and not alone.  We all crave human connection, and we are connected by our stories, our pain and our emotions.  We are more alike that different and when we stop giving our stories so much power we actually take back that power to help ourselves feel stronger.   4. What is the purpose or reason for your story? How is it nudging you to become the person you were meant to become? Finding a purpose in our stories, realizing that it is not all about us anymore can truly create a massive shift in our healing and in our energy! 5. Recall a time when you were searching for a solution to a problem and you came across a Facebook group or an online group and realized that there were so many other people struggling with the same thing.  When we realize that we are not alone is when we stop judging ourselves for how we have handled our story.  This small shift, realizing we are not alone can truly change everything. #55: "The Shortcuts to Success" In this Monday Mindset Episode we talk about the shortcut to success.  Coming off the early bird launch of my Collaborative Book program last week, left me so grateful and excited, and truthfully with an empty tank.  As we push towards deadlines and goals, it is so important to increase our self-care plan. It actually requires MORE self-care as we strive towards our goals, and for some reason that is when we actually do less self-care.  We tend to continue on that track until we feel like we are going to implode!   If you find yourself on a perpetual cycle of give, give, give and your cup is bone dry, then this episode is for you!! Today I share the tops tips I focus on when I am feeling burnt out and how I ground myself to get back on track, and fill my cup to overflow.  In this episode we talk about:  1. Learning to listen to the signs, the whispers our body gives us before it starts screaming at us.  2. Turn off technology, set your timers, and stop incessantly scrolling.  That only throws us into comparison and doesn’t serve us or the life we are working to create.  3. Ask yourself what is missing, literally ask your body, mind what it needs?  Does it need nature, rest, water, yoga, time with a friend, or time alone? Ask the question and be prepared for an answer.  We always know the answers.  4. Set clearer intentions at the beginning of the week.  I don’t set goals, I set intentions.  It is not a to do list.  It is an intention list, that includes my health, fitness, nutrition, spirituality, short term and long-term goal planning etc.  Then everything goes into my google calendar, colour coded before I start the week.  5. Cut yourself some slack, Seriously! Self-compassion is an absolute MUST!  I talk about how hopelessness feeds into powerlessness and how to break that cycle! 6. Rest, water, nature, mediation, journaling, doing nothing or doing whatever you need to do to fill your cup to overflow, do that and do more of it!
