We check in with Dylan to see how his night inside the Devon A&W went. He seems to be singing a different tune today. We catch up with the young man who wanted some advice before his first job interview. The worst things about riding a bike. We reminisce over all the hazards we have encountered while on 2 wheels. A very cute caller needs our help. We help Larry find the song he's been looking for. Dylan inches closer to achieving his goal to help sell tickets for the Citywide 50/50.

Macie Stewart, half of the Chicago-based duo Finom, is one of those musicians who can do almost anything. She's a classical pianist and violinist who wrote her first piece for an orchestra at age 11 and still creates string arrangements, such as on her 2021 solo album Mouth Full of Glass. She also taught herself acoustic guitar and began writing songs on it when she was 13. When she finally picked up an electric guitar, she and fellow singer-songwriter-guitarist Sima Cunningham formed an experimental side project that has blossomed into Finom, which released one of 2024's best albums, Not God. What distinguishes what Stewart writes for Finom and herself? What telltale characteristics do Stewart and Cunningham each bring to Finom songs? How did Jeff Tweedy push them in the studio? And what drives Stewart's creativity? (Photo by Shannon Marks.)

In true Thanksgiving miracle fashion, Virgil "Alexis" Texas emerges from the banishment of the podcast wilds to weigh in on the annoyingly persistent article-fodder question of 'Can liberals podcast as hard as conservatives?' The Kamala Harris campaign looks more and more like just another $1.5 billion dollar scam. Crooked Media is advertising on the Megyn Kelly Show (while the Red Scare morons are guests) — the Fayfabe, it grows! Who wore their meaningless Thanksgiving missives best this season: Biden/Kamala or Trump? What kind of music plays at Mar-o-Lago during the bountiful feast day? What of the Boy Born With a Mouth Full of Emeralds and his precarious alliance with the President Elect? Will we see Barron Trump become more Harkonnen or more Atreides? JD Vance goes off with some holidaze photoshop. We talk about the sad ascendency of Dollar General/Tree (and the UK equivalent called Pound Town), supposedly feel-good human interest viral stories about poor people literally and figuratively turning lemons into lemonade stands that function as their sole health insurance.Every sector will be tapped, exploited, extracted, drained and left as a husk to shrivel in the increasingly warm sunlight, supermercados and pawnshops are no exception.Kamala returns from her well-deserved Hawaiian vacation more useless and day drunk than ever.Tim sights celebs doing soup kitchen photo-ops.Los Angeles municiple feedback loops and self-cannibalization in the form of pointless anti-homeless measures.Orcas set fashion trends while not busy tearing down the global bourgeoisie one yacht at a time. 12 - We start the show with a recap of what Dom saw from last night's VP debate. 1215 - Bill O'Reilly returns to the program to give his insights and takes on last night's VP debate. There are two goalposts that decide who wins a debate, so who hit them? Should Trump do another debate, O'Reilly has an interesting take on whether he should or not and with a stipulation. Did Walz tell on himself by not directly answering abortion questions and calling himself a “knucklehead”? Then they end with a discussion on Bill's new book. 1235 - Philadelphia City Commissioner Seth Bluestein joins the program to break down the humidity scandal rocking the mail-in ballots. According to Seth, the humidity caused by rain in the last few days caused the ballots to be stickier and possibly clump together. Seth says about 1500 of the 10,000 sent out have been returned already. Secretary of State Al Schmidt says it will take more time to count votes in PA, but what about Philadelphia? Seth takes us through the process of counting mail-in ballots. How long does it take to process each vote? How can people return their mail-in ballots and where do they go? 1240 - Side - What's an acquired taste? 1250 - Teasing hour 2. 1 - Riley Gaines joins the program to promote her local event happening at 4 O'clock today in Blue Bell. Her and Dom go back and forth on the transgender ideology being inflicted upon kids who have mental health issues and are just plain confused. Where can we find her new Outkick show? Riley argued with Mark Cuban on the border? 120 - Your calls on last night's debate. 135 - More calls about the debate and side answers. 150 - Dom reads figures from the dock workers strike. More of your calls. 2 - Scott Presler joins the show to give an update on the mail-in ballot situation in Pennsylvania and the disparity of sign-ups between Republicans and Democrats. How about Luzerne County putting boulders in front of voting precincts in order to protect those sites? Democrats have become the party of the rich and no longer represent the working class. How close will the margins be this election thanks to his efforts? 215 - Dom's Money Melody! 220 - Winner? 230 - Local Teamsters President, Bill Hamilton, joins us today to discuss the Longshoremen's strike. Why such a pushback against AI? Bill details the difference between safety concerns and automation. Where does Bill stand on the use of tariffs? He also details the difference between using tariffs to boost the economy and to punish other countries? Will this union strike affect the Teamsters' demands? 250 - Lightning Round!
While we think of worship as something going from us to God, it is also important because of how it moves between us, and how it prepares us to receive from Him. When we run out of thanks, He still has more to offer than we might find on our own. Scriptures: […]

On the show this week, I'm speaking with Reem Gaafar, author of the novel, A Mouthful of Salt. This book is a really stunning, powerful story of a community in the north of Sudan, struck by calamity and loss. The book opens with a devastating scene of a boy gone missing and presumed to have drown, and the panic and grief in the wake of his search. Reem explores so much in this novel, including motherhood, the power of education, othering, community structures, tribalism and so much more. In this episode, we talk about all the themes Reem writes about, and the current war in Sudan, which has, at time of recording been going on for over 1 year. The war has led to millions of people being displaced, with nowhere to escape the violence, and over 18 million people are experiencing extreme hunger. As a trigger warning, we also talk about some sensitive issues including FGM, infertility, death, loss of children and trauma. If you don't feel comfortable hearing about these issues right now, please do consider listening to another episode again and perhaps revisiting at a time that is better for you. Reem Gaafar is a writer, physician and filmmaker. Her writing has appeared in African Arguments, African Feminism, Teakisi Magazine, Andariya and 500 Words Magazine, among others. Her short story ‘Light of the Desert' was published in I Know Two Sudans (Gipping Press UK, 2014) where it was awarded an Honourable Mention. Her short story ‘Finding Descartes' was published in Relations: An Anthology of African and Diaspora Voices (HarperVia, 2023). A Mouth Full of Salt is her debut novel and Winner of the Island Prize 2023. Gaafar lives in Canada with her husband and three sons. ----I'd love to hear your thoughts on this episode, so please do think about leaving a review, and like, subscribe and rate wherever you listen to this show :)Come connect with me on social media - I'd love to chat:www.instagram.com/readwithsamiawww.instagram.com/thediversebookshelfpod Support the Show.

Today's 'Song To Chew' is NEVER SPEAK WITH YOUR MOUTH FULL! It seems like a 'fun little song', but it opens doors to deeper topics like, 'Where do our rules come from?' and 'How do they become laws?' Kids deal with 'grown-up rules' all the time. We teach children rules, so they'll learn to be socially responsible adults; people who care about other people. Adults who sing this song with their kids send the message, “We can play and be silly, and still be caring and polite to each other at the same time!" I think that's a wiser, healthier, message than, “follow the rules no matter what!” When I need to speak up about something that's "not okay" with me, I need to do it in a way that will 'get through' to another person. It's not going to resolve anything if that other person feels like they're being attacked! So we really need to be careful about how we do that. And practicing that, ... starts with me! ~ Listen and subscribe to my Songs To Chew podcast = anywhere you get podcasts, or https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/peter-alsop-s-songs-to-chew/id1446179156 ~ CAMPING WITH DADS = https://www.amazon.com/Camping-Dads-Peter-Alsop/dp/B08CS871QW/ref=sr_1_1 ~ www.FaceBook.com/WeLikePeterAlsop ~ www.Youtube.com/peteralsop = videos ~ www.Patreon.com/peteralsop = support my music & other artistic endeavors ~ www.peteralsop.com/music = CDs & downloads

Tuesday was International Women's Day, but let's be honest, EVERY day is women's day, right? To celebrate I wanted to talk to 2 women, Cynthia O'Rourke who was the Makeup Department Head for the film A Mouth Full of Air, and Catherine Deriana who was the Makeup Department Head for the film God's Country which just celebrated it's premier at Sundance 2022. I picked these two and combined them in the same episode because these women both worked on films with very strong female leads and those parts were played by powerful female talents. Listen to Cynthia O'Rourke talk about crafting Amanda Seyfried's looks in A Mouth Full of Air, and Catherina Deriana speak about working with Thandiewe Newton on the unforgettable film God's Country. 0-:26 min.
