Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Selena: What are your thoughts on apple cider vinagre, do you recommend to take it on a daily basis? Holly: Hi Dr Cabral, Thank you so much for all the information you share for free - it really is life changing. I started listening to your podcast a couple of months ago and I heard you explaining most diseases are curable except maybe cancer. I understand you can't give medical advice but I value your opinion and I'd really appreciate your thoughts on my situation. I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure also known as early menopause at age 30 with a FSH of 125 and a AMH of 0.2. I endured 6 years of infertility and finally had my miracle baby via IVF, egg donation and reproductive immunological therapy last year. Have you experienced Premature Ovarian Failure being cured? Would it be possible to restart ovulation and conceive naturally? If so what would you recommend for my next steps? Dawn: Dear Doctor Cabral. Thank you so much for everything you do I enjoy watching you every day. I read your book. I use the daily nutritional support. I did your cleanse. everything you do is so helpful to us all. Thank you so much. I recently cleaned out all my cosmetic and skin care. Because I know of the dangers of everything we buy out there. I found a company called toupe and co. I really think you should check them out. Their ingredients are amazing and us women do like choices. And they are very good ones. Let us know what you think i'm sure you will approve. Alie: Hi Dr. Cabral, Your podcast is amazing, I've learned so much from you and I really appreciate all that you do. I'm reaching out because I have been dealing with chronic canker sores for the last 3 months. I have always gotten them here and there, but for the last 3 months I have had 4-8 in my mouth at the same time, at all times. I have eliminated citrus and acidic foods from my diet and nothing seems to be working. Do you have any idea what else might be causing these? I also struggle with migraines, digestive issues, and hemorrhoids so I'm not sure if these things could all be connected? In the past I've been told to see a Rheumatologist as well, I never got to it so I wanted to know if you think that's worth while? Thank you so much! Nicolette: Hi! i have been listening to your podcast for years, and it has truly changed my life and perspective on health! I have been diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism by my endocrinologist. Before starting a family, he has made it a point that with my TSH level fluctuating between 2.5-4.5 that once I'm pregnant, I would need to begin synthryoid. I obviously want to do what's best for the baby, but also don't want to take unnecessary medication. What are your thoughts on this? Is this a known or common practice? Are there other options to do while pregnant with a compromised thyroid? Thank you so much! Episode 23:43 The Interesting Role Vitamin D Plays In Low Testosterone Levels, Infertility, Osteoporosis, Restless Leg Syndrome, Itchy Skin, Hives, And Canker Sores On the last episode of the Get Healthy Alabama podcast we talked about the role sunshine and Vitamin D play in helping you look better, feel better, lower your cholesterol levels and boost your immunity. On this episode we take that conversation a step further. Specifically we discuss how increasing Vitamin D levels can improve fertility in women… and testosterone levels in men. We also share how Vitamin D works with other vitamins and minerals… most notably Vitamin F (yes, there IS a vitamin F, it's just not recognized by the FDA) and Calcium. We then explain how imbalances among Vitamin D, Vitamin F and Calcium can result in conditions such as osteoporosis, “leathery” skin, extreme itching, hives, welts, canker sores, and restless legs. The physiology behind the interplay of these nutrients is fascinating and we do our best to explain it to you. Give this episode a good listen as it will help you know what to do to prevent and/or treat any of these conditions. And, as always, please recommend this episode to a friend. I explain the brain areas that control our desire to eat, and our desire to stop eating. I discuss a hormone we all can make that is regulated by UV-rays from sunlight that reduces our appetite. I also explain that when we eat controls our appetite and not the other way around (and how to leverage that fact). I describe how we are basically always eating until we reach a threshold level of fatty acids and amino acids in our gut and the factors that can alter that signaling and make us eat far more than we need. I also explain how insulin, glucose and glucagon work, why cholesterol is so key for ovary, adrenal, liver and testes function and how the ketogenic diet impacts glucose and thyroid levels. As always, I describe many tools: specific supplements, prescription compounds, specific types (and timing) of exercise to regulate hormones, specific timing and types of eating, ways to reduce sugar cravings by triggering release of the hormone CCK, and more. Note: A future episode will cover Thyroid hormone. Also, I mis-spoke when explaining POMC neurons. I said “P-M-O-C” but should have said “POMC”. Apologies. Lets talk about Canker sores. Also known as aphthous ulcers, yorubas call them majata. Don't know what other tribes in Nigeria call them. But majata directly translates to "don't eat pepper", don't know the origin, don't know why it's called that but it is what it is. They are open, painful, discomforting and irritating. They are called canker sores.

Sal & Reggie discuss the Covid vaccine, canker sores, voting rights and the movie Bad Trip.
Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of our community’s questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Let’s get started! Ryan: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have been using olive oil as my main fat source for a few months now and from what I can tell it’s been going great. I am a 30 year old competitive bodybuilder currently in my off season so my calories are high. I am 6’ and currently weigh 230. I track my macros every day and usually end up with around 4500 calories. My fat intake is higher than most bodybuilders do which is around 150 grams a day. My carbs are usually around 450 and protein is around 275. My friend and roommate just died at 26 of what looks like a heart attack and he was a big body builder as well. This has opened my eyes a lot and I want to do things as healthy as I can. My body seems to be handling the quantity of olive oil but I just want to be sure. If I had to guess it is around 10 table spoons spread out the day. Thank you for your time and I love this podcast! Stephanie: Hi Dr. Cabral. I am writing in about my 12-year-old son who frequently gets canker sores. I have listened to some of your past podcasts regarding canker sores and am still unsure of what to do with him. His dr has had him on 30mg of zinc and b6 daily for the past couple years bc of pyrolles disorder. I also supplement him with 2000mg of d3 daily and b12 every other day. About 2x a week I have him taking 500 mg of L-lysine and he’s still getting the canker sores. We did the OAT test and parasite test a year ago and everything looked good. Wondering what you would suggest trying next! Thanks Marlene: Hey Doc! What would your recommendations be for someone with high testosterone (no PCOS)? Simon: Hi Dr Cabral, I have started drinking a large glass of water with 1/4 tsp celtic sea salt as soon as I wake up in the morning however haven't been including lemon juice for a number of reasons (including logistics and not wanting to break my fast as I don't have my shake for a few hours later to meet my 13hr fast). Is is beneficial having celtic sea salt on its own or by missing the potassium in lemon juice will I be upsetting my electrolyte balance longer term? Maegan: Hi, Dr. Cabral! Thank you for all you do. I have learned so much and plan on continuing my education through your classes. My question is about my 7 year old son. His gastroenterologist thinks that he might have Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. All I have found on this is that there is no known cause. What do you know? Are there labs that I could run for him? I can’t believe it accept that there isn’t a cause or some sort of treatment for it. Thank you. Robert: Hey Dr, absolutely LOVE your work. I am trying to work on my histamine issues in various different ways. Staying away from foods high in histamines, taking my DNS, balanced zinc, Omega, vitamin D and B complex every day. I've done numerous detoxes and the CBO + the CBO finisher, etc. I've done the parasite protocol as well as the heavy metal detox. It doesn't seem like it's getting better which is very frustrating. I still react massively! I can't even have a little piece of dark chocolate or avocado without breaking out or scratching myself all night. My questions are: 1. I know you had massive histamine issues as when you were younger, how long did it take you to heal? 2. Does exercise increase histamines? Every time I workout I get more itchiness on my skin! 3. I am 23 now, when I was younger I didn't have any histamine issue whatsoever. How come I suddenly got it? Can bee stings really treat common human medical ailments like pain, inflammation, or even cancer? Dr. Janos Zsolt Kormendy Racz, President of the Hungarian Apitherapy Association, explains the naturopathic practices of apitherapy and beekeeping. Tune in to learn more about: Bees impact on humans from a health perspective The dramatic effects of apitherapy products on a wide variety of patients Apitherapy benefits versus risks Apitherapy is the practice of applying bee farming products to humans for their health benefits. Honey, for instance, has been well-documented throughout recorded human history as a natural topical antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic. Its components are now even being researched as a possible COVID-19 treatment due to its anti-inflammatory and immune response enhancing properties. Honey is far from the only bee therapy products that has been shown to have a dramatic effect on human health. Royal jelly, the sole food of queen bees, is so nutrient dense that it is considered an appropriate alternative to a multivitamin. Propolis can be used as an oral rinse to treat gingivitis and canker sores. The inhalation of beehive air is being prescribed in Germany as a treatment for immune disorders and allergies. Natural healers have been using bee stings as therapies for thousands of years. Today, bee venom is being officially researched for its potential to treat major diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Alzeimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. Bee venom therapy, of course, is not without its fair share of possible side effects. Allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock, can occur and associations have been made between bee sting therapy, Lupus, and liver toxicity. Are the risks worth the reward? In the cases of many patients who have been living with chronic pain, inflammation, or other illnesses, the answer is a resounding yes. Available on Apple Podcasts: apple.co/2Os0myK

First, I want to clarify that canker sores and cold sores are different. This short explanation was taken from WebMD: Although cold sores and canker sores are often confused with each other, they are not the same. Cold sores, also called fever blisters or herpes simplex type 1, are groups of painful, fluid-filled blisters. Unlike canker sores, cold sores are caused by a virus and are extremely contagious. Also, cold sores typically appear outside the mouth -- usually under the nose, around the lips, or under the chin -- while canker sores occur inside the mouth. Symptoms may include: Tingling or burning sensation in the mouth. Tiredness Fever Canker sores appear inside the mouth, on the tongue, inside of the cheek and the back portion of the roof of your mouth. They can last anywhere from a few days to two weeks in extreme cases. The sores are usually white or grey with a rounded look with a red edge or border. Although doctors don't know the exact cause here is a list of things that can trigger them: Stress. In small children, this could be travel and a change in their environment. A weakened immune system. Tissue damage, such as biting your gum or scraping the inside of your mouth. Certain Foods--including citrus or acidic fruits and vegetables. Braces or ill-fitting dentures. In some complex cases where the canker sores would last longer than a few days the things listed below could also be some triggers: Again, a weakened immune system or health condition. Vitamin B12, zinc, folic acid or iron deficiency. Gastrointestinal tract disease, such as celiac disease or Crohn's disease. How are canker sores prevented and treated? Besides a dental laser which can offer almost complete relief, there are painkillers but no cure other than natural treatments. Through diet and preventing the triggers listed above one has hope in combating and getting rid of the sores. Treatments: Prevent extra stress. Be careful when taking antibiotics or other types of medications that can weaken your immune system. This is especially important in children. Eat foods rich in B12 such as dairy products, eggs, meat, and poultry. For Folic Acid and Iron eat leafy greens such as spinach, broccoli. Also, lentils, beans, nuts, seeds, grains, and dried fruit are high in both vitamins. For your Zinc eat fish, beef, nuts, garlic, dark chocolate and pumpkin seeds. There are other foods than the ones I have listed which have these vitamins, but this will give you a start. Yogurt is a great way to keep probiotics in your system and therefore help with a healthy immunity. Avoid foods that irritate the mouth such as spicy, salty, fizzy drinks or fruits high in acidity. I have heard that alum powder can help dry out and remove the pain from the sores but have not tried it personally. Apply the alum and leave on for about 60 seconds then spit out your saliva. Do not rinse out as the idea is the dry out the sores. This cannot hurt you and would suggest trying it to relieve some of the pain naturally. In the book “Home Remedies: What Works” (now out of print), a saltwater rinse was one of the top canker sore remedies. People with sores saw relief after swishing salt water around in their mouths for a few minutes 2-4 times per day. To use, dissolve two tablespoons of salt in a six-ounce glass of warm water. Sip and swish gently over the affected area for several minutes, spit. Repeat as needed. The consulting doctor for the book says that salt water helps draw fluid through tissues, speeding healing. Mix Apple Cider Vinegar with a 1/2 cup of warm water and swish around in your mouth for 30-60 seconds, 2x a day. Your canker sore will go down or disappear quickly. Turmeric is always a great healer and can help with your sores by making a paste. Take a few drops of coconut oil and add turmeric until a paste is made. Apply to the sores and leave on as long as you ca...
