"We think that the person or persons... sought him out specifically. We don't think that this was a random act of violence that could have been anybody. We think that they specifically sought after James Duckett."On the morning of 10 November 2008, Katherine Nichols dropped by the home of her younger brother in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Jim Duckett, a 43-year-old U.S. Army veteran, had not been seen or heard from in more than a day, having been a no-show at his church the prior morning. Attempts to reach him via telephone had been unsuccessful, and his truck was missing from his driveway.Katherine had actually dropped by Jim's home the night prior to check in on him, but was unable to see much inside. The lights inside had been turned off, except for a single bathroom light. For months, the Condamine-Ballone river system has been in-and-out of major flood following heavy rainfall in January and February. It's not much of a problem for residents used to it, but that was before they new fire ants were in the area. The crafty critters can build rafts to travel on flooded rivers, and finding them in one of the largest catchments inside Australia's largest river system could have devastating consequences for everyone.
Ben was part of our compliance team in Sydney and he's been mentioned on the podcast plenty of times. Now residing back in Oakey out of Toowoomba, Ben looks after the compliance and training for Mort & Co and is an extremely talented operator. But his beginnings stem back to early days as a driver as he worked his way through the field. We have a lot of time for Ben as we learnt to respect his knowledge after the couple of years he worked with us and we truly miss his openness and sense of humour. He also has a natural ability to be as blunt as a ball pein hammer and has a dickhead meter more sensitive than mine and Bruce's combined. Brace yourselves................
In 2004, the perplexing murder of Oakey "Al" Kite unfolded in the quiet suburb of Aurora, Colorado, adding layers of intrigue to an already chilling case. Al, a seasoned accountant with a notable career, was brutally killed in his home, with the investigation uncovering unsettling details. The killer, identified as "Robert Cooper," engaged Al about renting a room. The killer could be a sociopath, still on the loose. As the investigation delved into Al's background, a connection to Lee Scott Hall, a colleague from Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, surfaced, raising questions about a possible pattern. Additionally, a parallel with a Seattle-area real estate agent's murder brought forth chilling similarities. The unsettling blend of meticulous planning, brutal violence, and the complexity of Al's murder makes his murder case very unsettling...Contact us at: weeknightmysteries@gmail.comYou can also follow us on our social media accounts:✔️ Instagram ➤ https://www.instagram.com/weeknightmysteries✔️ Twitter ➤ https://twitter.com/wnmysteries✔️ Facebook ➤ https://www.facebook.com/weeknightmysteries/✔️ Website ➤ https://weeknightmysteries.buzzsprout.com

3 Members of a family & a French cyclist were brutally gunned down in the Alps. Two daughters survived and one has memories that may lead to new suspects in the case. Oakey Kite advertised for a roommate in Colorado- the man who answered the ad was not who he said he was...his baby would be found tortured with strong ties to Eastern Europe. Joran Van Der Sloot, Natalie Holloway's "alleged" killer, was stabbed in a Peruvian prison. Lastly, German police think they are close to arresting the kidnapper of Madeleine McCann.
