As humans, we have an immense capacity for love and wisdom, with the power to be a source of light in the world. However, often due to trauma and other challenging experiences, we may develop patterns and create stories that might not be fully true, but end up holding us back from accessing our inner light. Exploring a concept known as the human energy consciousness field may offer insights that can help us transfigure these patterns and achieve mental, emotional, and physical healing. As an expert on the human energy field and the healing sciences, Donna Evans Strauss currently serves on the Board and is the Dean of Year Two Studies at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing in Florida and Japan. Donna also created the Brennan Integration Practitioner Program, which is a master's degree, two-year supervisory program specializing in psycho-energetic healing methods. Her other certifications include Pathwork Helper, Past Life Therapy, Psychodrama training, and Family Systems training. Donna is the author of “Blessings from a Thousand Generations: What Our Biblical Ancestors Can Teach Us About Healing Our Families Today” and “Explore the Mysteries of The Cosmos ESP and the Human Biofield.” In Episode 232 of The Mindset Game® podcast, Donna shares the following: An overview of the human energy consciousness field and the four dimensions of humankind: the physical, the aura, the hara, and the core star The importance of trust – one of the 7 divine qualities – as well as a meditative exercise designed to foster trust in yourself and others Why finding balance amidst the polarities within yourself is crucial for healing To learn more about Donna and access her books and other resources, visit https://donnaevansstrauss.com. Send us a textFairfax criminal lawyer Jonathan Katz learned early in his trial career about the critical role of persuasive storytelling, executed throughout the trial, and not only in opening and closing. Jon Katz in this first Beat the Prosecution episode in a year without a guest, illustrates how he won an assault trial by supporting his client's alibi by illustrating the alleged assault's happening in Club Blah, where the defendant at the time was in Club Ah, and could not bring himself to stepping foot in Club Blah any more than he could bring himself to drinking a cask of prune juice mixed with vinegar. The persuasive story at trial usually is not found overnight, but is discovered with close attention and listening, visiting the incident scene, and bringing the listeners to the scene and the circle and center of the story, often incorporating all five of the human senses. Read more about persuasive storytelling in court, with Jon's article published in the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers newsletter, entitled "Story power – DID YOU DO IT? Transporting the jury to the persuasive circle of the story, and applying psychodrama."Persuasive storytelling is a central approach of the National Criminal Defense College's Trial Practice Institute that Jon attended for two weeks in 1994, and the Trial Lawyers College, which Jon attended for an entire month in 1995, with psychodrama and scene re-enactment also being major focuses of the Trial Lawyers College. This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I'm continuing my monthly Tarot Therapy series by exploring a topic I've been wanting to discuss for ages: How tarot and witchcraft function as Psychodrama.Specifically, I explore how tarot and witchcraft can be understood and practiced through the lens of psychodrama, a powerful therapeutic method developed by Dr. Jacob Moreno. Psychodrama is essentially theater for the psyche. It's an embodied way of working with emotion, memory, and healing through role play, creativity, and storytelling. If you've ever lit a candle for someone you love, pulled a tarot card that made your stomach drop, or cried while drawing a protection sigil - then you've already engaged in psychodrama. In this episode, I share why I believe tarot and magick aren't just symbolic or ritualistic, but active, expressive healing tools. I talk about how tarot spreads become psyche-inspired stages, how tarot becomes characters, and how we can use these practices to externalize our inner world in ways that go beyond talk therapy.I also walk you through a guided psychodrama-inspired tarot practice using a technique called the soliloquy - a beautiful, embodied way to give voice to something you've been holding inside. ✨ In this episode, I talk about:What psychodrama is and how it relates to tarot and ritualWhy embodiment and symbolism matter for emotional healingHow to turn your tarot spread into a living storyA guided soliloquy-style tarot activity to help you release what's been unspoken Want to find out all of the ways you can connect with me live this month? " Whether you believe Christ is a Messiah or not, Christ is love and there was no love. Nothing in this experience leads me to believe that she comes from love."This is Part 2 of Robyn's story in our "Bewitched" series, where we continue exposing the manipulation, coercion, and psychological control that played out under Betty's so-called spiritual mentorship. If you thought Part 1 was shocking, this episode dives even deeper into the unraveling of truth—and the final breaking point that led Robyn to escape Betty's grip for good.Robyn opens up about the mental gymnastics, fear-based conditioning, and deep emotional entanglement that made leaving feel nearly impossible. We discuss how Betty weaponized trust and intuition to create a false sense of empowerment—only to systematically break women down, erode their confidence, and make them dependent on her approval. But what happens when you start questioning the narrative? When the fear of leaving finally outweighs the fear of staying? If you've ever felt trapped in a coaching relationship where your growth was being controlled instead of nurtured, this conversation will give you the clarity and validation you need.TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS(00:00) Intro(00:52) In Today's Episode...Robyn's Story: The Top of the Hill(04:23) The Sacred Money Mind Announcement(07:26) Setting Up The Croatia Retreat(15:39) The Divorce - Betty's Hidden Agenda(21:31) No Privacy - "We're Being Watched"(32:02) The Christos Revelation: "I am The Messiah". Send us a textSouth Dakota trial lawyer Charles Abourezk has a compelling story as a lawyer and beyond that role. He grew up on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation, and advocated for Indian Americans before and after law school. He represented indigenous people's interests at the United Nations. He produced and directed radio and television programming concerning Native Americans. Charlie is Chief Justice of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe's Supreme Court in South Dakota; Justice of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe Appellate Court; Justice of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Appellate Court; and Special Judge for Oglala Sioux Tribal Courts. Charlie attended the Trial Lawyers College in 1997, two years before your podcast host Jonathan Katz attended. There, Charlie particularly took to psychodrama. He remains and teaches actively on staff at the National Psychodrama Training Center. Charlie's late father James Abourezk was the first United States Arab American senator, who subsequently founded the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC). He was a strong advocate for Native American rights while in the U.S. House and Senate. Law enforcement once searched Charlie's home on the reservation, and followed him around for a period of time, I take it due to his support of Native Americans. He says such an experience makes you stronger. Charlie strongly and aptly believes in the power of psychodrama for winning in court. His devotion to Native American rights made inviting him for this interview all the more compelling for Jon Katz, whose close friend and spirtual teacher Jun Yasuda strongly supports Native American rights. When a mentor demands your devotion, isolates you from loved ones, and convinces you she's the only source of truth—what do you do?In this jaw-dropping episode of the "Bewitched" series, Dr. Robyn McKay and I sit with Alicia Isaacs Howes to continue exposing the dangerous underbelly of high-control spiritual mentorship. This time, Alicia bravely shares her decade-long entanglement with "Betty," revealing how a once-inspiring coach slowly tightened her grip—leading to mind games, emotional abuse, and a shocking retreat that would change everything.Alicia was an insider—trusted, given leadership roles, and made to feel "special." But behind the curtain, she witnessed red flags disguised as high standards, clients being publicly shamed, and a leader who claimed to be more than just a mentor—she claimed to be God.This conversation exposes the divide-and-conquer tactics, bizarre retreats filled with paranoia, sleep deprivation, and starvation, and the final, terrifying twist—when Alicia was told her own family had turned against her. We're not sugarcoating anything in this conversation. If you've ever felt uneasy about a coach, mentor, or leader but couldn't quite put your finger on why—this episode will give you the clarity you need to trust your instincts and break free.TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS(00:00) Intro(00:53) In Today's Episode...Alicia Isaacs Howes(03:46) Upcoming Events(06:45) Alicia's Beginning's with Betty - Early Red Flags(13:02) The Sedona Retreat - Betty's Dark Transformation(35:26) The Croatia Retreat: A Turning Point - "I am Christos"(41:21) Paranoia, The Hotel is Not Safe and A Night of Control and Fear(52:40) The Retreat's Abrupt End(56:31) The Journey to the Next Location, Realization, and Escape(01:02:48) The Final Confrontation and Reflecting on the Experience(01:27:24) Moving Forward with New Wisdom**WAYS TO ENTER MY WORLD**Leave a review, send us a screenshot and get a $250 credit, you can apply to anything else in my world. The Sacred Money Mind is like nothing you've ever experienced when it comes to uncovering and dissolving what is unconsciously standing in the way of you attracting and normalizing larger amounts of money.Dissolve Your Core Wound Live Event I'm so excited to announce that Saturday, March 29th from 10-6pm, I'll be at the Philadelphia Rebirthing Center. What if the mentor you trusted to elevate you was actually the one holding you back? Spiritual leadership should empower—not manipulate. It's time we talk about what happens when coaching crosses the line.In this eye-opening new series, I join Robyn McKay for a raw and vulnerable conversation about a toxic coaching experience we both went through—along with other women in our industry. This is the first of a series of episodes where we unpack the red flags, manipulative tactics, and unethical practices that took place, and how we finally broke free.In this first episode of the series, I take the guest seat and share my experience and POV with coach "Betty". I share how I found myself in a high-control mentorship dynamic, what made me question my own judgment, and why it took time to fully recognize the emotional and psychological impact of this experience. We explore the power imbalances, coercion, and gaslighting that often go unnoticed in spiritual coaching spaces—and how to spot them before they cause harm. This series isn't about blame—it's about education, empowerment, and healing. If you've ever felt manipulated or misled in the coaching world, or if you want to learn how to navigate mentorship with discernment, this conversation is for you.TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS(00:00) Intro(00:52) Welcome to the Bewitched Series(01:53) Ethical Dilemmas and Vulnerability(03:30) How and Why Bewitched was Born(07:58) The Metamorphosis Method is Almost Here(08:54) When Coaching Goes Bad...Finally Sharing My Experience(12:47) Working with "Betty": Early Successes(19:50) Red Flags - Manipulative Practices, Ethical Concerns, and The Snake Bite(32:08) Coercive Control(44:16) Retreat Experiences and High-Control Tactics(52:20) The Concept of a Clear Channel(52:52) Patterns of Manipulation, The San Diego Retreat Experience, Psychodrama and Altered States(56:06) Questioning Intentions and Ethics(01:00:05) Deciding on the Santa Fe Retreat - Manipulative Sales Tactics and Recognizing the Patterns(01:07:53) Realizations and Reflections(01:10:16) "Talking to You is Like Groundhog Day" - The Miracle of Getting "Fired"(01:17:47) Questioning Myself, Healing and Moving Forward(01:26:24) Final Thoughts and Advice **WAYS TO ENTER MY WORLD**Leave a review, send us a screenshot and get a $250 credit, you can apply to anything else in my world. The Metamorphosis Method starts February 27th and you can still enroll. Send us a text"I lucked out with getting interviewed by a great host." Those are the words of this episode's guest Fredilyn "Fredi" Sison, upon speaking for the first time on a podcast. Fairfax, Northern Virginia, criminal / DUI defense lawyer Jonathan Katz has known Fredi for years. Jon Katz and Fredi Sison are both graduates -- from separate years -- of the multi-week Trial Lawyers College, when the TLC was still at Gerry Spence's beautiful Thunderhead Ranch, outside Dubois, Wyoming, before the schism that led to the TLC's operating elsewhere. Fredi for years taught at the TLC, continues teaching at the two-week Trial Practice Institute of the National Criminal Defense College (NCDC) that Fredi and Jon attended in different years as students, and joined TLC grads Mary Peckham and Joane Garcia-Colson not only to organize women lawyer training and development sessions through the Three Sisters group, but also with Mary and Joane co-authored Trial in Action: The Persuasive Power of Pyschodrama (Trial Guides, 2010). Fredi for years, worked as a trial lawyer at numerous public defender offices. She now is a solo practitioner in Asheville, North Carolina, primarily handling court appointments, not wanting ability to pay to come between her and her clients. With the conviction rate being so high in federal court, Fredi redefines the meaning of winning, for instance when that means obtaining a partial acquittal, or working so hard on a sentencing that her client returns home that night rather than spending a lenthy time warehoused in prison. Fredi believes strongly in the persuasive power of psychodrama -- which we covered in an April 2024 Beat the Prosecution episode -- and improvisational approaches. Her devotion to delivering great criminal defense is inspiring and infectious. Tim Shipman, chief political commentator at The Sunday Times, joins Katy Balls to discuss his new book, Out: How Brexit Got Done and the Tories Were Undone. The final instalment in Shipman's Brexit quartet, the book goes behind the scenes in Westminster to reveal the warring factions at the heart of Boris Johnson's government. Considering all of this, has the Tory party left this era of controversy and backstabbing behind? Or, with a new leader, is there a whole new chapter to come?

Time for a bonus episode!! I've had so much fun talking to so many of you about Tell Me Lies, and I just had to do an episode on my thoughts now that we've all seen season two. I recap all the key moments of each episode, and share what I thought was happening in the moment I watched it verses how I view it now with the context of the whole season. DM me with any of your thoughts and reactions!
This is the 3rd time I've had Lana on my show and we rocked it. Lana is a brilliant rapidly rising comedian whose doing the hard work it takes to get to where she is—performing at The Comedy Cellar and having her own special (shot—coming out soon) on DryBar comedy . We start talking about Lana's relationship with her mother and I suggest doing a "role-play" where I act as her mother and she says what she wishes she could say to her. I think we surprised ourselves on what came out of this. I know this sounds like a teaser, but it is seriously hard to describe. Absurd, hilarious and VERY REAL. Psychodrama has been used by trial lawyers for decades. But it hasn't been effectively deployed for use at SENTENCING.... until now. While psychodrama action therapy requires a trained professional to implement, there good news is there are psychodrama-adjacent techniques that can help any lawyer dig for, develop, and deliver a powerful and persuasive sentencing presentation! In this episode, Patrick Barone, a 30+ year criminal defense attorney and certified trainer, educator and practitioner of psychodrama introduces us to two such "psychodramatic action techniques" - the social atom and psychodramatic letter-writing. This is a TWO-PART EPISODE!. The timing of its release was deliberate, as Barone and Passon just co-authored an article for "The Champion", the premiere criminal defense publication of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). The issue will soon be in NACDL member's mailboxes. For those without a subscription, we will soon make the article available (for free) for download at www.setforsentencing.com/psychosentencing1. Season 1, Episode 31, Release Date: 5-28-2024 Drawing into self to Survive and Thrive with Ruth Culver Ruth Culver is an Integrative Hypnotherapist, IFS Practitioner, and Internal (IFS) Constellations She also created and leads workshops on IFS intuitive Drawing, and "Drawing into Self," Internal Constellations, and her "Survive and Thrive Spiral." Ruth spoke about her work in hypnotherapy, and how IFS allows up to really understand a system so we can get permission from protectors before rattling exiles (very similar to how IFS can also aide EMDR). Also, Ruth said that for some of her clients, the Ventral Vagal state did not feel like they were "tolerating" difficult things, it felt more as if they were "accepting" and feeling OK through the difficulties. We spoke about "freeze" state, and how this felt like active energy, which is sometimes missed in descriptions. Ruth said, "This is very different than collapse, it is more a thought of, I got to do something about this, but I can't" I (David) questioned if each part has their own autonomic nervous system of their own. Ruth's answer was that yes, and they are all reacting to a larger nervous system in the body. "The parts take on their roles in response to this larger nervous system." When we check in with parts, in IFS, we are in effect reprograming each of their nervous systems. In this way, repetition is very important. In some ways, this feels a lot like reconsolidating the part's memories. We spoke about spirituality, and Ruth shared that her journey has been more about being rather than doing. She shared that she has been involved with family constellation work, which really started through absorbing some of the practises of South Africa, and how they were interacting with ancestors. Ruth shared how family constellation work was tuning into somatic energy, where there would be a group of participants and they would help represent family members and ancestors. Ruth broadened this to include internal parts of systems as well. Ruth shared how you could feel a connectedness within the group and a form of synchronicity. Almost as if the group was a jazz band, listening and improving with one another! Again, Ruth shared how IFS brings a lot of safety to this technique. We spoke about the similarities of this practise to Psychodrama, and Ruth shared that she believes "Constellations goes one step further." There is more unconsicious work being done, and less containment (not guiding participants how to act or what to say). Therefore, good preparation becomes vital. Ruth said she creates safety by (1) slowing things down, and (2) staying curious. When exiles show up, it is OK because we can see them, and ask them to wait. As Cece Sykes says, "we can send them little golden threads." We can say to them, I might not be able to get to you right now, but I see you. This can be very healing! We spoke about "Drawing into Self" and how healing it could be to have parts express themselves through color and movement on a page. This taps into preverbal and nonverbal modes of communication, and then we can do IFS through the intuitive drawing. When we share this with partners, we also learn how to really listen to what someone is sharing. Ruth has put together many protocols for this. She has found that this externalizes parts. She also has workshops on her Survive and Thrie model. "Its all about safety and connection."

Season 2, Episode 28, Release Dte: 4-28-2024 Healing the Folks Who Live Inside with Esly I hope you enjoy my conversation with Esly Regina Cavalho as much as I loved having it! Esly holds a Ph.D. in psychology, and she is a Brazilian- American clinical psychologist. She is an EMDR Trainer of Trainers, and she is a trainer with distinction in Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy. She offers training to integrate EMDR with Role Therapy. She is an author, and president of multiple agencies. She has been a major impact with bringing EMDR -- and it's integration with Role Therapy -- to Brazil, and around the world! Registration is open for the Esly's Professional Intervention Program for Adversity (PIPA), group exercises based on AIP theory. Check out more here: www.traumaclinicinternational.com/courses/pipa EMDR Basic Training, in English but with an international team: www.traumaclinicinternational.com You can watch Esly's Youtube video explaining EMDR here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg842qP83yc It was wonderful speaking with Esly about psychodrama, and how this helps increase: Our creativity The ability to think on our feet Confidence and stage presence Understanding other perspectives through role reversal We spoke about surplus reality, and Esly explained how this is a psychodramatic term for an imaginary place where we can create anything we want. This is a place were traumas can find resolutions. We spoke about two types of time: (1) chronological time and (2) a particular moment in time. Esly shared how EMDR helps us take trauma our of a particularly moment (which is eternally repeating) and bring it to chronological time, and sent back to the past. Esly's wonderful saying, "Without healing there is no holiness." Esly also shared her beliefs that, "If you get stuck, look for the trauma." I love how Esly describes her "psychodynamic interweave" for EMDR. In this way, she allows us to change our story, and help roles develop. Esly has brought her work to: Ecuador, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Columbia, Angola, Mozambique and Ethiopia. Esly's PIPA's program has been extremely well received, and very successful. Find out more about EMDR and Psychodrama at Esly's websites. As Esly shared, both models are very powerful healing modalities, but could also cause a lot of damage if not done correctly. Esly's training are for licensed professionals, and she is creating more for paraprofessionals.

"The more efficient a force is, the more silent and the more subtle it is. Love is the subtlest force in the world." ~ Mahatma Gandhi(quote lifted from Bruce's bio page)How can you know what type of therapy is most likely to be helpful when the number of psychotherapies is vast and growing ? One way is to learn from Bruce Hersey, who has 30 + years of clinical experience and a wide range of expertise, including Ericksonian Hypnosis, Psychodrama, EMDR, IFS, and Coherence Therapy. In this episode Bruce describes his evolution as a therapist, and how he found convergent principles between 3 treatment modalities: EMDR, IFS, and Coherence Therapy. Bruce describes his integrated approach for healing trauma, and how he created the Syzygy Institute, which teaches these methods to therapists. You will also hear about Bruce's take on Meaning, and how music and the song Titanium helped him during a challenging time.Timestamps:00:00:23 - Intro00:05:00 - Concilience and EO Wilson00:15:00 - Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP00:17:19 - Psychodrama00:28:00 - EMDR, bringing adaptive and dysfunctional memory networks together00:34:12 - Power and Challenges of EMDR00:40:17 - Ego States and IFS in EMDR00:44:00 - Understanding IFS and EMDR Connection00:50:52 - Comparing Dual Attention in EMDR and IFS01:02:00 - Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories01:14:20 - Caution and Meaning in Healing Therapies01:19:00 - The Meaning of Life According to BruceProduced by Dirk Winter and Violet ChernoffTheme Music by The Thrashing Skumz
A tremendous discussion with defense lawyer and ABT Narrative Gym book coauthor Doug Passon plus his trial lawyering collaborator Patrick Barone, Esq. about their use of “Psychodrama” in preparation for defending their clients. It's a great discussion of how they are both using the ABT and Dobzhansky, as well as Doug's ABT analysis of the iconic Miranda Rights pointing out the (quite possibly intentional) lack of narrative strength in the statement. Podcast 357: Stories from the 60s, Part 1 Today's podcast will be a little different. I had the good fortune to be alive in Palo Alto, California during the late 1960s. For me, it was a magical era of happenings, the Haight-Ashbury District in San Francisco, psychedelics, war protests, civil rights activity, cool music, learning about life, and cutting an awful lot of medical school classes! But what I learned on the streets was far more valuable in my later career as a psychiatrist, working with real people with real problems, than anything I learned in medical school. It was an era of magic, to be honest. In fact, to me, California has always had the feel of magic. And that magic is still alive and well, happening every day, at least in my life. Let me know if you like these stories. I shared them at my weekly Stanford training group, and publish the recording of that evening's training session here, with trepidation. Some of the stories are pretty far out. If you like them, and want more, I have a lot more, which I've listed below. Just let me know, and I'll gladly start babbling again. . . IF I haven't been arrested! If you'd like to see one of the R-rated but gorgeous Larry Keenan photos taken at my “Uptightness” happening, you can see it at this link: Look for the photo called “The Kiss.” https://www.larrykeenan.com/prints Larry Keenan, a brilliant young commercial photographer at the time, attended my “uptightness” happening and took many fantastic photos that day. Larry became a famed photographer of many of the greats of the “Hippy Era,” like Bob Dylan, Neil Cassady, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and a host of others. Sadly, Larry passed away several years ago, but I will always be grateful to him for the gorgeous and now-famous photos he created that day in the infamous but glorious 60's! Warmly, david Part 1 (in this podcast) Psychodrama / encounter David gets put down: Rob Krist's encounter group The return of tears: My first psychodrama marathon The pompous professor: False front / tragic surprise Spiritual Desert experience: Sadness as celebration Dating / Relationships / R-Rated Having fun and making a movie: "Uptightness” Part 2 (not yet recorded: let me know if you'd like a Part 2!) Nothing N/A Was too short na I'm starting to catch on to the fact that David has read more than 3 books... Nerd. :) It is funny coming from David and I believe he used it affectionally... most of use won't get away with the term "Chainaman" perhaps Asian American Loved the group tonight n/a Nothing I disliked. My answer of "somewhat insecure" from above was about my comments and whether they were helpful or "good enough." Please describe what you specifically liked about the training? What was the most helpful? Were there some things you learned? I really enjoyed learning from David's stories. Thank you for sharing these personal stories with us. I had been looking forward to the evening's stories but I didn't know emotional and impactful they would be. I was especially touched by David's & Cai's tears and appreciate how much they both shared. It had to be especially difficult to share over Zoom because sometimes it can sound flat. With most people muted it can be hard to hear the feedback from the audience but the connection still felt very powerful. I truly appreciate your openness and willingness to show your vulnerable side. Just like many others, I was deeply moved by your heartfelt tears as you shared stories about the woman you believed would succumb to cancer, your beautiful encounter with your wife Sara, and the journey of creating "Uptightness." You didn't have to let us into those deeply intimate and personal experiences, and for that, I am genuinely grateful. This was absolutely amazing! It couldn't have been more special. Thank you Dr Burns! You are a national treasure and gift to us all. Can't wait for the podcast so that I can re-live it exposure and being uncomfortable with adult stuff so silly but real for me I was touched by the depth of emotion David manifested in telling some of the stories, his deep compassion and humility, and the reality of celebration of sadness. I liked feeling closer to David both from his sharing deep feelings and by his telling about life events like how he met Melanie. It was cool to have stories illustrating powerful lessons and even some that illustrate the mundane (e.g. mostly not a lot happened when David spent a week disclosing every feeling). What a wonderful night. These stories brought that time period alive for me, and having not lived through that era, that was a real treat. The only thing I was surprised about, and a bit sad, was seeing that David appeared to be a little self-conscious or something. David, I hope I can reassure you that even though I was silent and didn't have any questions, you had my full attention. It was like watching a profound and entertaining movie. - Ed W I really loved hearing about the spiritual connections with others that you had, David. I also loved seeing the photos afterward and you showing us who you were talking about in your stories. What a beautiful, magical time! Some very interesting and very touching stories. Made me feel closer to the group and gave some insights into the 60s and the development of TEAM CBT That was beautiful. More and more I'm convinced therapy is art verified by science. This very human tradition of telling stories is so important to our work as therapists/people. I enjoyed this greatly. A two hour work of art I was fortunate enough to have experienced. Thank you, much love. It was mesmerizing and holy God listening to the stories now I understand how he could have come up with such an amazing Tool It was lovely to travel back in time and get snap shots of David's live in the 60s. I appreciated the tender moments of sadness and also the spiritual mystical moments. I like David even more knowing that his calling was to council people, and the journey he has taken to become a conventional healer. It is an honor to be part of this training, almost feels like a type of lineage. I mostly found it just very enjoyable and fun and salacious. But I also liked the tears and the parts about people hiding their suffering and how we all really suffer but often have a hard time showing it. That was beautiful. Fabulous! How wonderful to learn more about David, learn about his "weird" past and shadow side, and share in his authentic expression of intense feelings. He really opened up and it did make me feel closer to him! The desert story was inspirational to me, and Cai's story as well...I, too, love the book Siddartha. Interesting to learn of the origins of techniques such as Externalization of Voices and Downward Arrow. Really contextualizes it for me. Not to mention bringing the "magic" of California in the 60s back to life. Thank you! Left me yearning for more! It was a spellbinding evening, and it felt to me like we were right there with you, David, in the desert seeing the multicolored clouds with our tears flowing, or at the psychodrama marathon crying for the woman who was dying, or on in a field with you and lots of naked ladies at the "Uptightness" event. And now it makes so much sense to me how your methods like EoV and the Downward Arrow all grew out of these experiences you shared with us tonight of tapping deeply into that River of Emotions that you talk about. Thank you, David, for sharing this with us! Seeing David's tears. Love him even more. Learned so much from the stories I liked this evening very much. I felt very close to you, David, and to the others who shared, and I felt honored to be a part of it. There were so many good stories. I think your story of being in the desert and the woman suddenly giving up drinking might be an example of a powerful prayer-- I know it sounds pretty goofy and I would have thought so too when I was an atheist not long ago, but I've had some experiences that have really led me to believe some seemingly goofy things. Please describe what you learned in today's group12 responses It was such a moving & emotional evening filled with incredible stories, some of which seem too wild to be true but you certainly had the pictures to back it up! Even though I'd been working with the pictures they really came to life after hearing the context and learning more about the people in them. Thank you! It was terrific to hear the origin story of the greatest psychotherapy approach ever developed the founding go team cbt I learned it is unnecessary to be uptight except for cinematic purposes. We are all connected and affect each other on an energetic level
