One of my favorite stops was on the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand, where I returned to the mighty Jungle Experience. This time I brought along San Francisco legend, Syd Gris, the man behind Burning Man's biggest stage, Opulent Temple. So today's episode features a portion of both of our sets, starting with mine. Seven thousand lovely souls danced to our beats laced with live percussion. My next guest is Syd Gris. He is one of the longest-running fun creators in the Bay Area music and underground arts scene, Syd is known as a Renaissance man of the West Coast burner scene, and with good reason. Not only is he the co-founder (in 2003) of the legendary Opulent Temple collective (best known for their premiere sound stage at Burning Man), he is also the founder of Opel Productions, (2002) which has been consistently throwing club events and parties with purpose in San Francisco for 20 years.  He also is a child psychologist with a Doctorate in transpersonal psychology, an outspoken promoter on social issues.We talked about:(0:48) What is transformation?(02:42) What is our eternal nature? Today is a rare episode because we have the cofounder of Big Imagination, Ken Feldman, joining us. The Big Imagination Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aims to incubate bold, visionary projects that inspire the world to dream big. As their 747 Project for Burning Man proves, their artistic pursuits are literally and figuratively larger-than-life and out of the box and to accomplish these groundbreaking projects, they rely on radical collaboration and community support while also providing opportunities for education and participation. On today’s show, Ken answers all the questions we have about this magnificent creation, including how he came up with the idea, how hundreds of people collaborated to make it happen, what the experience is like for Burning Man visitors and why it entails so much more than self-expression on a grand scale. DJ Wolfie connects deeply with the dancers, and is known for exciting peak hour sets. Each Live set is backed by hours of rehearsal and prep work in the studio, custom tailoring the latest sounds to keep the evenings experience fresh and new. He plays world class festivals such as Coachella, Optimus Alive festival in Portugal, Electric Daisy Carnival, The Do Lab's Lightning in a Bottle, Opulent Temple at the Burning Man Festival, and many other 2000-4000 person festivals. DJ Wolfie stays connected to his fans through a weekly blog, where he shares amusing and intimate stories, followed by that week's gigs (people tell him all the time that he's the only dj/promoter whose emails they actually open and read). Wolfie has been a driving force in the Los Angeles underground scene for years. He has produced over 500 warehouse and three-day weekend electronica events. He's one of the five people that started the Los Angeles DECOM Festival. He produced all of L.A.'s Hipgenesis events and his latest producing project is the Pantheon series of events.
