The third month of the year is named after the Roman God of War Mars, so join Mike as he leans into the month by marching himself down to the Gulf Coast. Join Mike as he ventures south to Sweet Home Alabama for a family vacation and of course, a trip to a local comic shop in Foley, AL! Serendipity abounded as it turned out Mike's co-host Scott on the Campus Comics Cast was also on his own family vacation in Gulf Shores, so he joined Mike for the interview at Covert Comics and Collectibles. In fact, this shop was Scott's suggestion because he has been going to Covert Comics for years when he comes here for vacation. Covert Comics and Collectibles is right on the main drag in Foley, and despite its name, it's easy to find. It has so much to offer...new and old comic books, Sports Cards and Memorabilia, Trading Cards, Statues, Video Games, DandD, Vinyl Records, Funko Pops, and Vintage Toys. And with 5000 square feet of space, it's very roomy and fun to explore. The owner, Jason, had a level of enthusiasm that was palpable. He and his staff are super-friendly! This history of Covert Comics is very interesting so buckle down for a great ride! And the next time you take trip to Gulf Shores, AL, skip a couple of hours at the beach and treat yourself to this fantastic comic shop, Covert Comics and Collectibles! Then join Mike and fellow comics fan, and podcaster, Paul Hix, as they review the trade collection of Wolverine Vol. 3 issues 66-72 plus Wolverine: Old Man Logan Giant-Size 1. Paul is 50% of the genius behind the Waiting for Doom podcast and several other shows. This is an 8 part story with the original issues coming out in 2008 and 2009. It was written by Mark Millar, with pencils by Steve McNiven, and inks by Dexter Vines, Mark Morales, and Jay Leisten. You can find Covert Comics and Collectibles at 107 South McKenzie St., Foley, AL 36535, (251)377-9690, online at covertcomics.com, and on social media at https://www.facebook.com/covertcomicsfoley, and email at jason@foleycomics.com. Thanks to Paul for his help in reviewing Old Man Logan. Find Mr. Paul Hix and his various podcasts along with Mike Garvey, at https://www.waitingfordoom.com/ and anywhere you get your podcasts. It's one of the best and funniest comic podcasts out there! You can also send him an email at waitingfordoom@gmail.com and find Waiting for Doom on Facebook, X, and other social media sites. Thanks to Jason at Covert comics and Collectibles for sharing his time with us and to Scott for teaming up with me on the interview.

Hey everybody, Paul Hix is back, and we've got two more issues of Swamp Thing (vol 1) to talk about! The story lines seem to be straying further and further away from the original material, we both wonder why this is, and does it even matter with cancellation looming? Swamp Thing in space! A deadly virus! No, it's not 2020! As usual, if you want to leave any feedback for the show you can do so through email at Magazinesandmonsters@gmail.com or to me on Twitter @Billyd_licious or on the show's FB page (just search Magazines and Monsters). Hey everybody! Paul Hix is back, and we're here to talk more Swamp Thing! An interesting two part story this time, as a Native American man has discovered a fountain of youth, and he befriends a Swamp Thing doppleganger! Where did it come from and how did it come into being? Don't worry, Paul and I will explain this biological conundrum. Or at least we'll try! This story was written by Gerry Conway, and originally planned for a giant sized issue, but ended up being published as two separate issues. So join us as we talk about this fun story! As usual, if you want to leave any feedback for the show, you can do so through email at Magazinesandmonsters@gmail.com or to me on Twitter @Billyd_licious or on the show's FB page (just search Magazines and Monsters). Hey there Zany ones! It's time for another trip to the lunatic fringe! Join Paul Hix and I, as we take a slight detour from our recordings for the Bronze Age of Horror Comics, and check out this story from The Brave and the Bold starring Swamp Thing and Batman! At times this book isn't as crazy as you'd expect from Bob Haney, but there are a few lines of dialogue that cause us a bit of pause. So, definitely tune in for our shenanigans, plus Paul talks about his experience at HeroesCon! As usual, you can leave any feedback for the show through email at Magazinesandmonsters@gmail.com or to me on Twitter @Billyd_licious or on the show's FB or Tumblr pages. Hey there, JLMay'ers! It's that time of year again, and Paul Hix has organized this year's JLMay event! You've heard 28 other episodes up till now, and Clinton and I are going to try to figure out how Batman and a hippie from 1968 can team up and play fireman. Seriously, that's pretty much all they do in this "team up." We do have some fun along the way talking about Frankenstein, Svengoolie, and outdated political references. So, stay tuned! As usual, you can reach out to the show through email at Magazinesandmonsters@gmail.com or to me on Twitter @Billyd_licious or on the shows FB or Tumblr pages. Hello there all you bog beasts! Paul Hix and I are back to discus two more issues of Swamp Thing! First, we'll encapsulate issue 13, which is the last story by Len Wein! Hey everybody, I'm back with another episode of the show! This one was an absolute blast, as I finally got to podcast with a great guy, Paul Hix, from the Waiting for Doom podcast! He agreed to come on the show and talk about the first comic book appearance of the Doom Patrol with me! WARNING!!! POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI With the next Star Wars movie only two weeks away, Ryan Daly indulges in some idle and not-so-idle speculation. Presented here are Eight Expectations--that is, eight predictions about the plot and characters of Star Wars Episode VIII. But Ryan's not alone, he's brought in eight friends of the podcast (Rob Kelly, Andy Kapellusch, Aaron Bias, Mark Marble, Angela Drew, Paul Hix, Mike Garvey, and Mike Gillis) to share their own predictions about the movie. Consider yourself warned: You may want to save this episode and come back and listen to it after you see STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. Then you'll know which of these predictions was right on, and which were pure fantasy.
