David Satter is a journalist and historian with unique insights into how the deformation and repression of the past, is having terrible consequences for present day Russia. David has written extensively about Russia and the Soviet Union, especially the decline and fall of the USSR and rise of post-Soviet Russia. David Satter became the first American journalist to be expelled from Russia since the Cold War in December 2013. This was perhaps not a surprising move, given that his books have covered topics such as the FSB's role in the apartment bombings that brought Putin to power. From 1976 to 1982 David was the Moscow correspondent of the Financial Times, and then became a special correspondent on Soviet affairs for The Wall Street Journal. It's not uncommon for a professional musician to juggle multiple gigs. Until they make it big or get a break playing in a band that does, there's session jobs, maybe a songwriting contract, picking up live gigs in someone else's band, slinging merch or someone, or even all that plus holding down a full-time job to pay the bills. Lucciana Costa can relate. She's established herself as one in the current crop of up-and-coming singer-songwriters in Nashville. She's half of the emerging and popular Americana duo King Margo. She plays in and with Gabe Lee's band, even singing with Gabe and Rylie Bourne on a popular single in 2024 (“Long Time Ago”). Add to that time spent creating education curricula and writing a novel and you can see what we're quick to call her the busiest, badass woman in Nashville. Lucciana sat in with Frank and Falls last week to talk about her musical background that runs from West Virginia to Ohio and Michigan before hitting Music City. We talked about her musical family and the lineage of talent that has culminated in her career. She told us how the King Margo collaboration with Rachel Coats and a lot more. The Greatest Story Of All Time is our Christmas 2025 series at Fusion Christian Church. In this series we look at some of the ways God foreshadowed the Christmas story throughout the bible. For Part 1, Pastor Zac teaches about the earliest promises of Jesus found in Genesis.Chapter One: Before Once Upon A Time.Before Jesus was ever born, before anyone ever wrote a letter of the bible, God had a story in mind. From before he even created time, God knew what he wanted to do. Like a skilled author, God used foreshadowing throughout his scriptures to point to what was coming. He has designed all of history to culminate in his specific plan for the salvation of his people. The bible is a collection of books that tells us about it.Chapter Two: In the Beginning - The Conflict of Christmas Begins.All the way back in the Garden of Eden, we see the central plot of God's story begin to develop. The serpent deceived Eve, and our ancestor Adam fell into sin. In that story, we see that God cursed the snake and promised his ultimate demise. Eventually, the offspring of the woman would crush the head of the serpent and gain victory for all of us. As the story goes on, God will begin to fill in the details about this future champion.Chapter Three: The Promised One.Later in Genesis, we see God's promise to Abraham to give him a son. Through this son of the promise, God would eventually bring about the blessing of all nations and the salvation of many. When Abraham's faith is tested by God asking for his son to be sacrificed, Abraham believes that God will provide a lamb for the sacrifice instead. God kept Abraham's son, Isaac, safe, and promised again that there would be a future savior. Through this we see the ways Jesus' birth and even death are foreshadowed even back in Genesis.

David Satter is a journalist and historian with unique insights into how the deformation and repression of the past, is having terrible consequences for present day Russia. David has written extensively about Russia and the Soviet Union, especially the decline and fall of the USSR and rise of post-Soviet Russia. David Satter became the first American journalist to be expelled from Russia since the Cold War in December 2013. This was perhaps not a surprising move, given that his books have covered topics such as the FSB's role in the apartment bombings that brought Putin to power. From 1976 to 1982 David was the Moscow correspondent of the Financial Times, and then became a special correspondent on Soviet affairs for The Wall Street Journal.
