Roy shares big news about the future of the podcast as it relates to his time at “The Daily Show.” Which leads to talking to a guest about burn out. The cause, the symptoms and how can you turn it around. The team chops it up with a HR heavyweight who once fired 100 people in 8 hours. He breaks down the mistakes we make in job interviews and what you should be asking for to put your best foot forward. Plus – tips for negotiating a salary that can help you tactfully and confidently ask for what you want, including a company car. He also breaks down what companies get right (and wrong) about diversifying their work force. An impromptu Rod's Relationship Fair is on deck – and the issues revolve around a pastor who met a woman at work and it looks like she is not interested in being his first lady. How much would your city have to pay you to move to a rural area? The city of Tokyo has started the bidding at $8,000. The newest member of the Roy's Job Fair two-timer club, DJ Rasta Root, producer and former manager of the late Phife Dawg and A Tribe Called Quest, breaks down the making of Phife's posthumous album Forever. On todays episode we speak with the one and only Roy Wood Jr. (The Daily Show, Confess, Fletch) and we are absolutely as hyped as you are! Together, we break down the 2008 Clint Eastwood vehicle (rim shot), Gran Torino. With almost a slur a minute, there was a lot to break down. Roy shares a story about hitting Clint's car with a football on the Warner Brothers lot, we ask if the point of the film is white forgiveness, and we imagine what a sequel would look like. We can't thank Roy enough for his time and all the laughs. Roy's new movie Confess, Fletch is in theaters right now as well as digital early access at home. Also staring Jon Hamm, Ayden Mayeri, Kyle Maclachlan, and Lorneza Izzo, it's a smart and fun update of the original Fletch movies and novels. Check it out! If for whatever reason you don't follow Roy, you can find him on Twitter and IG @Roywoodjr. And head over to Roywoodjr.com to find tour dates and more! You can also find him weeknights on The Daily Show on Comedy Central, and every Wednesday on his podcast Roy's Job Fair (@roysjobfair). And as always, you can find us on Twitter at @white_pod. We'll have a lot of additional info on this movie there, including more from Bee Vang and comments from the Hmong actors and crew about their treatment on set. You can also reach out to us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com with your thoughts about these movies, recommendations for films, and more! We'll be back next week with Blood Diamond!

About Roy Wood Jr Roy Wood Jr. is a standup comedian, The Daily Show correspondent, and host of the Roy's Job Fair and Beyond the Scenes podcasts—is set to premiere his third hour-long comedy special on Comedy Central on October 29th, off record. Fun fact: Roy's second one-hour, No One Loves You (2019) remains Comedy Central's highest-rated original standup premiere since his first one-hour Father Figure (2017). This year, Roy has had some major wins: he produced the PBS documentary The Neutral Ground (which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival), moderated a Fatherly conversation with President Obama, was featured in CNN's The Story of Late Night special, and appeared on a moving episode of PBS Finding Your Roots. If you know Roy, you know his love for his Black southern ancestry runs deep; he penned a piece on it for the New York Times back in 2018. Currently, he's shooting the Miramax film Confess, Fletch alongside Jon Hamm, developing a comedy at FOX with Denis Leary, and is gearing up for roles in NBC and Hulu shows that have yet to be announced. His other acting credits include Space Force, Better Call Saul and The Last OG. And throughout the pandemic, Roy's Daily Show segments and hot takes on Twitter/Instagram have sparked hilarious online debates and regular press/blog pickup.
