Su nombre real era Ricardo Eliecer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto y fue uno de los poetas hispanoamericanos más importantes del siglo XX. Nació el 12 de julio de 1904, en la ciudad de Parral, región centro sur de Chile y murió el 23 de septiembre de 1973, en Santiago de Chile. Comenzó muy pronto a escribir poesía, y en 1921 publicó La canción de la fiesta, su primer poema, con el seudónimo de Pablo Neruda, en homenaje al poeta checo Jan Neruda, nombre que mantuvo a partir de entonces y que legalizaría en 1946. En 1924, con tan solo veinte años, escribió Veinte poemas de amor y una canción desesperada, y un año después escribe la que será su única novela: El habitante y su esperanza. En 1926, los problemas económicos lo llevaron a emprender la carrera consular que lo llevó a residir en Birmania, Ceilán, Java, Singapur y, entre 1934 y 1938, en España. Allí se relacionó con Federico García Lorca, Rafael Alberti, Vicente Aleixandre, Gerardo Diego, Miguel Hernández y otros componentes de la llamada Generación del 27, y fundó la revista Caballo Verde para la Poesía. En 1939, de vuelta en Chile, ingresó en el Partido Comunista y su obra experimentó un giro hacia la militancia política. En 1945 fue el primer poeta en ser galardonado con el Premio Nacional de Literatura de Chile y, desde su escaño de senador, Neruda utilizó su oratoria para denunciar los abusos y las desigualdades del sistema, lo que provocó la persecución gubernamental y su posterior exilio en Argentina. De allí pasó a México, y más tarde viajó por la URSS, China y los países de la Europa del Este para volver luego a su país natal. Su prestigio internacional fue reconocido en 1971, año en que se le concedió el premio Nobel de Literatura. El año anterior Pablo Neruda había renunciado a la candidatura presidencial en favor de Salvador Allende, quien lo nombró poco después embajador en Francia. Dos años más tarde, ya gravemente enfermo, regresó a Chile y falleció días después del golpe de estado del general Augusto Pinochet. Fue velado en “La Chascona”, su residencia de Santiago, la cual había sido violentada por partidarios de la Junta Militar. Brad Langille, President & CEO, of GoGold Resources Inc. We delve into their producing Parral Tailings mine, in the state of Chihuahua, but then focus most of the discussion on their flagship Los Ricos South and Los Ricos North development and exploration projects in the state of Jalisco.   We kick off the conversation with an operations update from their Parral Tailings mine, where production in 2024 was 1.5 million silver equivalent (AgEq) ounces. We discuss why this number may grow in 2025 with the commissioning of a new zinc circuit in January of 2025, which improves the precious metals and base metals recoveries at the processing center; while recycling and conserving the cyanide for the leach cycle, as a key cost input. Brad points out just how important the cleanup of these historic tailings, through their ongoing production, has been to the local community over the last decade; and how significant these initiatives are in a broader sense within Mexico from a social license standpoint.   Next we review the delineated mineral resources and project economics for their flagship Los Ricos South and Los Ricos North Projects. Dan Dickson, CEO and Director of Endeavour Silver (TSX:EDR – NYSE:EXK), joins us to review the Q4 and full year operational metrics at the producing Guanacevi and Bolañitos silver mines, a construction update at the key Terronera Project in Mexico, the announcement of an acquisition of the producing Minera Kolpa Mine in Peru, and updates on the Pitarilla and Parral development projects.    Consolidated production last year from Guanacevi and Bolañitos met their updated 2024 guidance with 4,471,824 ounces (oz) of Silver (Ag) and 39,047 oz of gold (Au) for a total of 7.6 million silver equivalent oz. At Guanacevi in Q4 the operations team needed to replace and install a new ball mill trunnion, which was completed on November 30, 2024, and processing resumed in December to full capacity.   At the flagship Terronera Project, surface construction is nearing 90% complete. Dry commissioning is advancing on the Upper Platform, and the focus continues on the Lower Platform construction and filter press area, for full wet commissioning to begin here in Q2 2025. Dan anticipates commercial construction will commence in Q3 of this year. The Terronera Mine has the potential to double the production output, adding in around 7 million AgEq per year, with a very low All-In Sustaining Costs, projected to be down around $13 per AgEq oz.   Next we shifted over to the key news announced on April 1st, where that company announced a transaction to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Compañia Minera Kolpa S.A. (“ Minera Kolpa ”), and its main asset, the silver-focused polymetallic Huachocolpa Uno Mine (“ Kolpa ”); located in the districts of Huachocolpa and Santa Ana in the province and department of Huancavelica, approximately 490 km southeast of Lima, Peru. In 2024, the Kolpa mine produced approximately 2.0 million ounces of silver, 19,820 tonnes of lead, 12,554 tonnes of zinc and 518 tonnes of copper, for approximately 5.1 million silver equivalent ounces (“AgEq oz”). In 2024, the all-in sustaining costs of $22.80/oz Ag. The transaction is expected to close by June, and this will be a nice bolt-on producing mine for the company adding to the production profile in H2 and moving forward.   We wrap up discussing the further growth potential from the Pitarrilla and Parral Projects in Mexico.  Both are key advanced exploration and development projects in the portfolio that will have ongoing exploration and derisking work programs in the second half of this year. Pablo Neruda: La Voz Poética de América Latina Introducción Pablo Neruda, seudónimo de Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto, es uno de los poetas más influyentes y celebrados de la literatura latinoamericana y mundial. Nacido el 12 de julio de 1904 en Parral, Chile, y fallecido el 23 de septiembre de 1973 en Santiago, su obra abarca desde la poesía amorosa hasta la poesía comprometida con causas políticas y sociales. Su legado perdura no solo por la profundidad y belleza de sus versos, sino también por su papel activo en la política y su impacto en la cultura de su tiempo. Vida y Formación Neruda creció en un entorno rural en Temuco, donde su padre trabajaba como obrero ferroviario. Su madre, Rosa Basoalto, falleció poco después de su nacimiento. He went on to found and lead an agricultural commune of 300 German immigrants called Colonia Dignidad located in Parral, Chile.For over 40 years the gluttonous thirst for his sinful tendencies, led this evil man to abuse and torture the members of Colonia Dignidad, including sexually and physically abusing young children. The company already operates the Parral tailings project, generating cash flow for its growth pipeline.In a recent interview, CEO Brad Langille outlined GoGold's fully funded path to production at Los Ricos. The project encompasses two deposits, Los Ricos North and South, with economic studies completed on both. Over 270 million silver equivalent ounces have been delineated through extensive drilling since 2018.The phase one plan is to build a 1,750 tonne per day underground mine and process plant at Los Ricos South. An initial PEA outlined strong economics based on the high-grade Eagle deposit, with $458 million NPV from the first 11 years of mining. GoGold has approximately US$99 million in cash following a US$65 million raise, providing full funding for this initial capex of US$148 million.GoGold aims to complete a pre-feasibility study by late 2022 or early 2023. Permitting is underway for the underground mine, with production targeted for 2024-2025. Interview with Dan Dickson, CEO of Endeavour Silver (TSX: EDR, NYSE: EXK)Recording date: 12th September 2023Endeavour Silver is a precious metals mining company focused on silver and gold production in Mexico. The company currently operates two higher-cost mines, Guanacevi and Bolañitos, but is advancing its transformational Terronera project.Construction commenced on Terronera in Q2 2023, with first production expected by Q4 2024. The new mine is forecast to double Endeavour's production while cutting all-in-sustaining-costs per ounce by half. This should improve the company's cost profile and cash flow generation.Endeavour has not needed to tap equity markets recently, funding Terronera construction from its balance sheet and debt facility. A $120 million debt commitment was secured earlier this year, providing capital to advance the project. The debt load is expected to peak by late 2024.An ATM facility provides additional financing flexibility and insurance if further funding is required. Endeavour's strong cash position and operating cash flow have allowed it to self-fund growth initiatives.Beyond Terronera, Endeavour acquired the Pitarrilla project last year from SSR Mining. Pitarrilla hosts over 600 million ounces of silver resources, representing further production growth potential. Underground exploration drilling is slated for 2023 to upgrade resources.The Parral project offers another near-term development opportunity, with historic underground workings and infrastructure in place. However, the large scale Pitarrilla is the key growth focus given its potential to be a company-maker asset.Endeavour will continue assessing distressed assets and creative M&A opportunities. The company takes a selective, methodical approach to acquisitions in order to systematically enhance its project pipeline over time.In Mexico, some government rhetoric against mining has emerged ahead of 2024 elections. However, no major tax or regulatory changes have been enacted under the current administration. Endeavour has strong legal and government relations expertise to navigate Mexico's mining industry.With improving operations, a strengthened balance sheet and clear growth runway from Terronera and Pitarrilla, Endeavour Silver appears well positioned to drive the next phase of production and cost profile gains.

In 1923, he sold all of his possessions to finance the publication of his first book, Crepusculario (“Twilight”). He published the volume under the pseudonym “Pablo Neruda” to avoid conflict with his family, who disapproved of his occupation. The following year, he found a publisher for Veinte poemas de amor y una cancion desesperada (“Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair”). The book made a celebrity of Neruda, who gave up his studies at the age of twenty to devote himself to his craft.In 1927, Neruda began his long career as a diplomat in the Latin American tradition of honoring poets with diplomatic assignments. After serving as honorary consul in Burma, Neruda was named Chilean consul in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1933. While there, he began a friendship with the visiting Spanish poet Federico García Lorca. After transferring to Madrid later that year, Neruda also met Spanish writer Manuel Altolaguirre. Together, the two men founded a literary review called Caballo verde para la poesîa in 1935. The outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936 interrupted Neruda's poetic and political development. He chronicled the horrendous years which included the execution of García Lorca in Espana en el corazon (1937), published from the war front. Neruda's outspoken sympathy for the loyalist cause during the Spanish Civil War led to his recall from Madrid in 1937. He then moved to Paris and helped settle Spanish republican refugees in Chile.Neruda returned to Chile in 1938 where he renewed his political activity and wrote prolifically. Named Chilean Consul to Mexico in 1939, Neruda left Chile again for four years. Upon returning to Chile in 1943, he was elected to the Senate and joined the Communist Party. When the Chilean government moved to the right, they declared communism illegal and expelled Neruda from the Senate. He went into hiding. During those years he wrote and published Canto general (1950).In 1952 the government withdrew the order to arrest leftist writers and political figures, and Neruda returned to Chile and married Matilde Urrutia, his third wife (his first two marriages, to Maria Antonieta Haagenar Vogelzang and Delia del Carril, both ended in divorce). For the next twenty-one years, he continued a career that integrated private and public concerns and became known as the people's poet. During this time, Neruda received numerous prestigious awards, including the International Peace Prize in 1950, the Lenin Peace Prize and the Stalin Peace Prize in 1953, and the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971.Diagnosed with cancer while serving a two-year term as ambassador to France, Neruda resigned his position, ending his diplomatic career. Of the many political and military figures  involved in Mexico's 1910 Revolution, Pancho Villa remains the most famous and charismatic. Felipe Angeles Villa formally requested that Felipe Angeles be permitted to officially join Villa's military staff. Angeles was a traditional army officer with an expertise in artillery.  He served during the Diaz government but was in France when the revolution broke out.  Ultimately, he decided that the populist concepts of the revolution were more to his liking and felt Villa best embodied these ideas. John "Black Jack" Pershing, in Mexico Public outrage over Villa's Columbus, New Mexico attack prompted Woodrow Wilson to launch a rapidly deployed military expedition under the leadership of the commandant of Fort Bliss, Texas and experienced Apache antagonist, John “Black Jack” Pershing.  Commanding six thousand men, split into two separate columns, Pershing crossed the border, without the permission or even cooperation of the Carranza government, which was sensitive to any American incursion.  Fleeing south, Villa, attacked any appropriate smaller targets along the way but suffered a serious leg wound at Guerrero on March 28.  Pershing's force quickly located the Villistas and successfully attacked Guerrero but Villa escaped into the mountains where he hid for six weeks, recovering from his gunshot injury.  Although Villa was no longer popular in Mexico, the American expedition was considered an invasion and an incident at Hidalgo Parral in which several American soldiers and numerous Mexicans were killed prompted an agreement between the two governments that the Pershing expedition would gradually withdraw Alvaro Obregon Although at the height of his military effectiveness and power, Pancho Villa was now confronted with fundamental logistical issues.  Although the path to the capital was wide open, Carranza ordered the cut off of any resupply, especially of coal which limited the rebel general's railway mobility.  Foreign hostility caught up to Villa personally when the Wilson administration tailored an arms embargo designed specifically for the Villistas.  Any attempt to patch up an agreement between Carranza and Villa failed and it became clear that Pancho would never make it to Mexico City before another general, loyal to Carranza, Alvaro Obregon.  Obregon, approaching initially from the western state of Jalisco, marched unopposed into Mexico City on August 18, 1914.  Carranza joined him two days later.  Villa had no choice but to retreat northward back to the state of Chihuahua to regroup, resupply and recruit more soldiers. On January 19, 1916 a group of Villistas stopped a train heading to Chihuahua City, from the United States.  They executed 17 American employees, an act that outraged US citizens living in the towns on the Mexican border.  Although Villa denied involvement, officially the Carranza government apologized to the Wilson administration and vowed to bring the murderers and Villa to justice.  One of the formerly most powerful political forces in Mexico was now a mere criminal.  Villa's response was even more audacious.  He proceeded to cross the border near the tiny and isolated town of Columbus, New Mexico.  At one in the morning, a firefight broke out between the Villistas and the US soldiers stationed in the town.  The Mexican rebels looted the local general store and destroyed a hotel but after some initial confusion, US cavalry and even local townspeople organized a response that drove the invaders out of the town.  As dawn broke, the cavalry chased Villa fifteen miles into Mexico before breaking off the counterattack. The Columbus attack killed eight soldiers and ten civilians and wounded several others.  Although he was able to seize some nominal amounts of weapons and livestock, Villa never even explained much less justified this wanton and foolhardy provocation.  Luz Corral, Mrs. Pancho Villa One wife, Luz Corral, who he married legally in 1911, was recognized by Mexican courts as his heir, but two other women who claimed to be married to him were eventually granted government pensions acknowledging their claim.  Officially, Villa had five children but most likely, considering his reputation as a ladies man, there were many more. Pancho Villa's car in which he was assassinated. Amidst this atmosphere, life went on at Villa's hacienda.  On July 20, 1923 he was returning to Canutillo in a large Dodge automobile, with cash he picked up in Parral for his employees.  An aide had recently cautioned him about the expense incurred by a huge entourage accompanying him on his trips to the city.  In response, Villa limited his latest bodyguard to five additional individuals crammed into his car.  With Villa at the wheel, the Dodge made its way slowly through the streets of Parral.  When it reached an intersection that required a turn, a street vendor began shouting Viva Villa, the general's former rallying cry but on this day a signal to seven assassins who quickly stepped into the street with high powered rifles.  They fired over forty rounds of hollow point bullets, nine hitting Villa and killing him instantly.  Only one member of the entourage survived. Memorial a la Revolucion, Mexico City Over time, Francisco “Pancho” Villa has assumed a larger than life profile in Mexican popular culture.  His stature increased to the extent that in 1976, his remains were transferred from Parral to the massive national mausoleum in Mexico City, El Monumento a la Revolucion where he joined such luminaries as Madero and Carranza.  In life, Villa was feared and reviled as a volatile killer, bandit and criminal.  Today he enjoys  widespread international status as a proud nationalist revolutionary and a man of the people  long after most of his adversaries and contemporaries have been completely forgotten.
