TV writer/producer Janetti is a fine traveling companion as he takes the listener on a grand tour of his favorite places. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Alan Minskoff discuss how Janetti packs this audiobook with observations on such topics as the decline of fashion on airplanes, along with tips on how to shut off unwanted conversations and how to only pack for three days. An entertaining storyteller, Janetti pitches an idea to Maggie Smith (a no), falls in love on Mykonos (an everlasting yes), and lovingly recounts a family cruise. Worth your time. Today, we're talking about travel tips and tricks and tales with a fascinating person to tackle the topic with—none other than Gary Janetti, whose new book We Are Experiencing a Slight Delay: Tips, Tales, Travels is out July 9. On the 1 percent chance you don't know the hilarious Gary Janetti, allow me to introduce you: Gary is a writer, producer, and actor who has written for Family Guy and was an executive producer on Will and Grace. He also produced the satire animated sitcom The Prince, about Prince George, for HBO Max; in addition to producing, he also provided the voice of Prince George. Gary has written two books prior to We Are Experiencing a Slight Delay—Start Without Me (I'll Be There in a Minute) and Do You Mind If I Cancel? (Things That Still Annoy Me), and both were bestsellers. I found Gary years and years ago through his Instagram page, which specifically uses a satirical characterization of Prince George as his imagined and often totally catty responses to news items about other members of the British royal family. Gary took that success on Instagram and turned it into The Prince. Gary is married to fashion stylist and television personality Brad Goreski, and, naturally, Brad shows up frequently in We Are Experiencing a Slight Delay, which takes us inside Gary's travels all around the world. This new book talks about the absurdity and glory of travel, taking us from an Italian spa to the Orient Express to Venice and London and Mykonos and Australia and a family cruise on the Queen Mary 2, just for starters. In addition to telling stories from his trips, Gary also gives a ton of practical advice on all aspects of being a traveler, from packing, suggestions on how to get upgrades, and his restaurant and hotel recommendations in his favorite cities. In our conversation today, Gary talks to us about how to combat jet lag, his top tips for packing, what's worth a splurge while traveling, solo travel, and so much more. We Are Experiencing a Slight Delay: Tips, Tales, Travels by Gary Janetti
Jenny and Gary delve into the pitfalls of acting, writing and bearing your soul for comedy. Gary details writing for Stewie on Family Guy and landing a highly coveted job on Will & Grace. Gary's third memoir and highly anticipated We Might Be Experiencing a Slight Delay hits shelves July 9th. A major release gets the slightest of delays as Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker has been pushed back two backs to December 7, 2021. Various reasons were cited and I'll read some of Yoshi P's comments. Overall its a good thing as no one wants to mess up the biggest expansion in the game's long history. We didn't have a ton of things talk about this week. Game covered include Star Ocean: Divine Force, Atelier Sophie 2, the trio of new Pokemon games, and Tales of Lumunaria. I give my initial impressions of the mobile game and cover it's first update. We have some very interesting news from Falcom to discuss. You won't want to miss it and why I think it's the first step towards fixing it's western localizations problems. Today’s episode of 50% Facts is somewhat delayed but will appear later today. In the meantime, check out this episode of the This is Actually Happening podcast from Whit Missildine entitled “What if you were a human shield?” It’s an in-depth look at the life of a member of Jim’s family, Army vet Will Hoover. You may remember an old PowerCast episode in which Will talked about having been wounded in an international incident in Afghanistan in 2014 and some of the story of his long road to recovery. This episode is a brand new interview and covers his life both before and after the incident, and his struggles to overcome his injuries, PTSD, and a strong sense of survivor guilt. This year's Tokyo Game Show had a ton of news relating to Kingdom Hearts, but the big news related to the release date of Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue. There was also a new trailer, featuring a brand spanking new rendition of Simply of Clean by Hikari and Nomura spoke more about what we can expect with Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and Kingdom Hearts 3. With everything going crazy around the PS4 Pro, the main discussion this episode talks about how Kingdom Hearts will benefit from this new technology and whether it's worth getting a PS4 Pro or just sticking with the standard version. It's a bumper episode this time around, so we hope you enjoy!
Just a brief message as to why the episode's not going to be posted on time this week. The good news is that I did get the new job, and I start on the 22nd. I'll have a regular episode out later on this week.
In my absence from the show for some 3 years, I have a not 1 but 2 major computer crashes. Since then I have discovered all of the show elements have to be recreated. That being said I still have the archive of some 100+ episodes so here is one from the vault. Enjoy. 16 […]

Every episode could be a new season, but usually it isn't. Except this time! Welcome to Season 6. Yeah, we could hardly believe it either, and we should know better since we're in charge of deciding when the seasons change. Not like in a weather way, obviously – just the seasons associated with our show. Ahem. Anyway, this week in Name 5 Things, Warrens asks us to name 5 situations in which a "placebo button" would be helpful. The theory is that even if buttons aren't connected to anything, and therefore don't actually influence an outcome, the act of pushing one is somehow therapeutic when waiting around, and prevents all kinds of rage that might otherwise cause the collapse of society as we know it. You know, the kind of rage you might feel while waiting for an elevator door to close, or your tea to steep, or whatever. If you have more great ideas for placebo technology, send us an email (maskedman@limitedappeal.net). Theme music courtesy of Mugison and Ipecac Recordings.
