Santo Bernardus dari Clairvaux (Perancis) terkenal karena hidup mistiknya menyatu dengan alam. Dalam tulisan-tulisannya, terdapat pernyataan iman dan cintanya yang mendalam dengan Tuhan seperti ini: “Percayalah, engkau akan menemukan sesuatu yang lebih besar dalam pohon-pohon hutan daripada di dalam buku. Batu dan kayu akan mengajarmu sesuatu yang tidak kamu dapatkan pada seorang guru.” Cintanya akan hidup rohani sampai kepada kedalaman itu, yang tidak dipikirkan orang-orang pada umumnya. Ada suatu perselingkuhan terjadi karena suami bekerja di antara banyak perempuan rekan kerjanya. Istrinya dan anak-anak di rumah tak menemui tanda-tanda perselingkuhan itu, padahal suami sudah punya relasi terlalu dalam dengan satu dan dua wanita. Bertahun-tahun hubungan terlarang itu dibungkus rapat dan hampir tidak ditemukan jejak dan bau busuk hubungan itu. Mereka berhasil menerapkan strategi rahasia cinta terlarang itu. Dua contoh cerita itu menunjukkan bagaimana cinta dipahami secara berbeda-beda dari satu orang ke orang lain. Cinta yang dihayati oleh Santo Bernardus merupakan suatu hubungan yang menyatu dengan Tuhan dan rahasia hubungan itu ia rasakan dalam hubungannya dengan alam sekitarnya. Rahasia cinta dalam kaitan dengan hubungan terlarang yang dilakukan si lelaki tadi, mempunyai makna bagi dirinya dan wanita lain yang bukan istrinya. Jadi suatu jalinan cinta antar pribadi mempunyai makna yang sangat pribadi dan belum tentu bermakna bagi orang lain di sekitarnya. Dengan demikian berarti di dalam cinta itu sendiri banyak rahasianya. Itu juga berarti ada cinta yang lebih kuat, ada yang kurang bahkan ada yang cenderung lemah atau bertujuan negatif. Jadi pertanyaannya: Apa standar rahasia cinta bagi setiap manusia? Misalnya, seseorang yang tidak bahagia dengan kehidupan cintanya saat ini, ia mempunyai opsi untuk menemukan yang ideal! Jawabannya ialah rahasia cinta yang ideal hanya diberikan oleh Tuhan. Dia memilikinya dan Dia-lah sumbernya. Bagi Tuhan, cinta terungkap dalam kata dan perbuatan yang benar dan baik sehingga harus diwujudkan dan tampak kepada dunia sekitarnya. Tak ada yang disembunyikan atau dirahasiakan cinta kasih yang sejati. Rahasia cinta Tuhan sebenarnya terletak pada inti dan pengungkapannya. Tuhan telah menunjukkan dan mengajarkan kita bahwa rahasia cinta-Nya ialah sebuah pemberian diri sendiri bagi kebaikan sesama. Yesus Kristus adalah contoh sempurna bagi kita. Tinggal saja kita teladani dan mengalami sendiri rahasia cinta Allah ini. Marilah kita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa...
