Welcome to the second part of the three-volume Episode 1000 anniversary episode, recorded at live events held at four locations throughout the greater Chicagoland area. My original idea was to combine all the interviews and performances into one single release. As fate would have it… it's just too much content for one single episode, so I decided to break it up and make it more digestible.   For this episode, recorded at Skeleton Key Brewery in Woodridge, Siren Records in McHenry, and Liar's Club in Chicago, you'll hear (and see):   Theme song creator Josh Caterer from Liar's Club. An interview with returning favorites wht.rbbt.obj from Siren Records. Comedian Mike Stricker with a comedy set from Skeleton Key. Herb Rosen, owner of Liar's Club. A blistering performance and fun interview with Bellhead from Liar's Club. And a rock and roll story from author Steve Silver.     In between segments, you'll also get to enjoy messages from former podcast guests, sharing their Episode 1000 greetings. This time around, that includes Dr. Daryl Wilson of the Bollweevils, Sincere Engineer, Todd Sucherman of Styx, Take the Reins and award-winning journalist Charlie Meyerson.   ##   CCC is sponsored by Easy Automation. Monster Dogs Morning Monster Cafe with Steve Silver (Episode 958) They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I agree, especially if hot dogs are involved.   Steve Silver, Chicago's legendary lover, fighter, doorman, and raconteur, joined me at the Morning Monster Cafe (Monster Dogs food truck) outside Cobra Lounge (235 N. Ashland).   I had the Daywalker to get my day started the right way. It's a monster, but in the best possible way: A hot dog (or breakfast sausage) nestled in a French toast New England roll topped with bacon, blueberry jam, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and a sweet cereal milk mustard.    Joining us for the chat is a returning favorite, Chef Jason Gilmore. Besides being the chef at Cobra Lounge, his vision and love for hot dogs led him to run the Monster Dogs food truck.   Working downtown? Near Fulton Market? Stop by the Morning Monster Cafe, open weekdays from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. ##   The summer season at Ravinia is here… and there's no place more comfortable to see outdoor shows.     Load up your picnic basket and head to the show… or take advantage of some of Ravinia's outstanding food options inside the park.    Violent Femmes are set to do an album play of their debut album with the Chicago Philharmonic. It's been hard for me to imagine stripped down songs like Gone Daddy Gone and Add It Up done with a classical collaboration. Get tickets and see the full schedule at ravinia.org.   ##   A smart home connects virtually all of the technology in your home.  With an Easy Automation-installed smart home system, you and your family can control nearly every device and system in the house in ways that are easy and fun to use.   Transform your living space with cutting-edge home automation. Jo Schuman Silver was the producer, director, and writer of the legendary Beach Blanket Babylon. A gem of the city's culture, Beach Blanket Babylon was the world's longest-running musical revue in live theater history, and was started by Jo's late husband, Steve Silver, in 1974. Beach Blanket Babylon was often described to be “as San Francisco as it gets,” with elaborate costumes and extravagant hats featuring city landmarks such as mechanical cable cars, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Transamerica Pyramid. Audiences were entertained with original comedy sketches and political satire. In the San Francisco-style, no subject was off limits, but everything was performed in good faith and good taste. After taking over the company for her late husband Steve in 1995, Jo not only maintained the company's high standard of performing art, but created new sketches to stay up to date with current events, all while using her husband's original drawings for sets and costumes. In this way, Jo kept her husband's legacy alive while allowing it to change and grow. Jo closed Beach Blanket Babylon on New Year's Eve 2020, not because of lack of funds, but because it was time. It had a prosperous run at Club Fugazi for 45 years. We were thrilled to get to speak with Jo about her and Steve Silver's work and the legacy of the show. We hope you enjoy it as well. Ryebank Fields is a small patch of land in Chorlton in the south of Manchester. Spanning around eleven acres this overgrown piece of grassland has become a favourite spot for the community's families to wander, explore and play. But this much-loved spot is now under threat. The owners, Manchester Metropolitan University, want to sell the land for development into housing and invest the money back into their existing inner-city site. Campaigner Julie Ryan tells her she used to play there as a child before taking her own children there. She says it's her go-to place when she's stressed out, and together with campaigner Tara Parry they take Helen Mark on a tour. Tara describes Ryebank as the "green lungs" of Manchester and talks about why the land could have a future as a community garden and orchard. Steve Silver and Helen walk around the oak trees that he planted at the turn of the Millennium and says that he'd love it to be renamed "Silver's Wood" in the future. All three herald Ryebank as a habitat for wildlife and plantlife. Archaeologist Dr. Michael Nevell shows Helen the historic Nico Ditch and separates fact from folklore about its status and significance. Dr. Rebecca Taylor tells Helen about her work looking into the benefits of semi-wild green spaces in cities and how planners could consider the non-monetary value of these spaces in the future. Helen also speaks to Michael Taylor from Manchester Metropolitan University who argues that the money from the sale of Ryebank can be invested back into the University's inner-city campus and cites the sustainable measures that will be put in place as part of any development. But this model, Steve says, is the old way. We're experiencing a transformation, where marketing, sales, and customer success no longer interact in a sequential manner, running the customer journey one after the other. Instead, it’s evolving to work like a rugby scrum: all three organizations running concurrently, supporting each other toward the common goal of retaining and growing the customer. On the next edition of The Show with Steve and Bo, we welcome You Tube sensation John Shango to the program to breakdown his internet success as well as the Dallas Cowboys season. In the second hour, it's our weekly installment with Brandon C. Williams. For the second straight week Brandon correctly hit on his game of the week as Florida upset LSU in the swamp. Who will he choose this week? Tune in to find out. As always, phone lines are open and questions and comments can be made on Twitter @InsiderSteve and @LetstalkRangers. We'll see you at 9 AM PST on The Fantasy Sideline Network.
