Ben Tatlow takes off his artist-hat and puts on his label head-hat for a great round-2-interview with Mike about the ins & outs of running his label family of Echoes Blue Music, slow echo, and more. (Truthfully, Ben doesn't have to take off his artist-hat in order to wear the labelhead-hat... he does both at the same time with grace & poise. But it makes for some good wordplay, so there you go)Got any questions you want answered in an upcoming episode? CalmRadio.UpliftingPills.com Instagram.com/UpliftingPills In my series of mixes dedicated to phenomenal artists that continue to inspire this podcast, I present to you Hong Kong-based producer Ben Tatlow, the man behind Antarctic Wastelands project. Drawing inspiration from an imaginary beautiful and desolate environment, Tatlow's ambient compositions, aptly taglined as “soundtracks for wandering souls”, are characterized by luminous textures and depths that immerse you in a realm where tranquility intertwines with profound sense of introspection and awe. With his two featured tracks in this mix as source of inspiration, I strove to seamlessly fuse soundscapes that transport you to abandoned, weather-beaten landscapes. Wander with me on this sonic journey. Let's embrace both the vastness of space and the intimacy of solitude. Check out Antarctic Wastelands wherever you get your music. You'll be in for a treat! After a break away for the summer, the Pridecast is back! Joining Liam on this episode is Sam Tatlow, who plays an integral role in promoting diversity and inclusion across ITV. Since December 2020, Sam has worked for the company as a Creative Diversity Partner and she looks to ensure that ITV is reflecting modern Britain both on and off-screen. Sam also works very closely with ITV's colleague networks, including the ITV Pride network, where she acts as an ally to LGBTQ+ people. In this episode, she talks about the ways people can support members of the LGBTQ+ community, which she says starts by always wanting to learn about others and being empathetic. She also talks about the importance of challenging preconceived ideas and offers advice and tips on how people can support the community. For Sam an area of diversity and inclusion which is particularly important, is supporting disabled people. In 2021 she was listed in the top 100 most influential disabled people in the UK in the Shaw Trust's Power 100. And in June this year, she was awarded an MBE in the Queen's final Birthday Jubilee Honours list, for services to disabled people. Sam says that it is through her own lived experience which has helped her have the empathy for many marginalised groups in society. For her, the work towards having a more inclusive and equal society has now become more important than ever, especially as pressures on living standards increase for so many. She believes that TV in particular has an important role in telling these stories and reflecting all people in the UK and it is for companies like ITV to continue leading the way on this.

Didi Kirsten Tatlow, a specialist on China and the author of “China's Quest for Foreign Technology: Beyond Espionage”, speaks about the historical reasons behind China's battle for global technological dominance, its newest techniques and most importantly about the threats that it raises to democratic societies. In this interview, you will learn that: CCP is building up its technological capability, and the West is assisting it, without being fully aware. There are not many ways to properly understand China without knowing Chinese In some cases, such as Germany, it has already infiltrated in the state structures, causing the so-called elite capture. The real issue is not economic relations with China but its normative influence and import of values. Democracies are very open societies and therefore very easy to infiltrate. We misunderstood China by thinking it would change after integrating into the open market. Instead, China seems to be changing us. China uses media in a way that it is not clear that they are paid by the CCP. Didi Kirsten Tatlow is a senior fellow at the Asia Program at the German Council of Foreign Relations (DGAP) in Berlin, Germany, and a Senior Non-Resident Fellow at Projekt Sinopsis in Prague, Czechia. The interview was recorded on May 31, 2021, and moderated by sinologist and journalist Kateřina Procházková, Sinopsis, Czech Republic. #Forum2000online For more information about our activities follow our web and social media: Web: https://www.forum2000.cz Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/forum.2000 Twitter: https://twitter.com/Forum_2000

June 5, 2018 Chinese schools are notorious for their rote learning and endless tests and exams. But the Chinese government wants to change that – at least, the authorities want to introduce more creativity into the classrooms. That’s no easy undertaking, says MERICS Visiting Academic Fellow Didi Kirsten Tatlow, who for many years reported from China for the New York Times. China’s notion of creativity differs from that in the West. Creativity is mainly seen as an instrument for innovation. But for children to become truly creative adults, Tatlow argues, they need time to play and the freedom to think their own way. Yet such an approach is difficult in a country with a strong authoritarian spirit imbedded in both the Communist Party and Chinese culture. Listen to Did Kirsten Tatlow in the latest MERICS Experts podcast.

7. What is Philosophy? (Professor Richard Stopford and Steve Tatlow) by PHILOSOPHOBIA
Guest: Dr. Ruth Tatlow, Independent Scholar (Sweden): co-founder of Bach Network UK, designer and founder of the open-access journal Understanding Bach, and frequent visiting researcher at the Leipzig Bach Archive. Every year in January, many people attribute deep importance to the notion of a fresh start, triggered by the first day of the first month of a new year—an example of how some cultures still impute psychological significance to numbers. It’s a good time to think about the role that numbers can play in human society, a topic that certainly occupied the scientific, artistic, and theological minds of J.S. Bach’s time. Hear Dr. Tatlow discuss these themes in her book, Bach’s Numbers: Compositional Proportion and Significance, recently released in paperback. In January 2017, the book was given a prestigious CHOICE award by the American Libraries Association. To order the book, visit http://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/music/eighteenth-century-music/bachs-numbers-compositional-proportion-and-significance.
