True Crime February continues with "Beauty's Revenge," sometimes called "Midwest Obsession." Mark and Andrew craft up their finest hot dish and delve into the world of murder, mystery and dairy princesses in this pulpy tale of revenge. "Melrose Place's" Courtney Thorne Smith and "Growing Pains" Tracey Gold square off over the love of one dumb cowtown hunk, but can it really be about the Midwest if not a single person plays euchre? I think not. Listen in, how about? ABOUT TV MOVIE NIGHT: TV Movie Night is a podcast featuring TV what-have-yous Andrew Krukowski and Mark Gonzales diving into the retro world of made-for-tv movies. Each episode spotlights one of these forgotten "classics" (and sometimes without the scare-quotes classics), enjoying cinema on the small screen an episode at a time. Past episodes include landmark films like "The Day After," lost gems like "The Night of the Scarecrow," and odder fare like "Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus." Happy Full House Friday Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, I covered Full House S4E8: Shape Up, which aired on November 9, 1990. In this episode In light of Kimmy's upcoming pool party, DJ begins a crash diet and overexerts herself exercising. When Stephanie notices the problem, DJ swears her to secrecy, but the secret is out when DJ collapses during a family outing to the gym. I thought given the subject matter of the episode it was done well. Candace (D.J.) did a believable job as someone in the beginning stages of an eating disorder granted I really have nothing to compare it too. Even though I didn't mention it in the episode, actress Tracey Gold (who played Carol Seaver on Growing Pains) had developed an eating disorder while filming the last couple of Seasons of the show very noticeably in Season 7. It was very heartbreaking, she actually took a break during Season 7 to get some professional help. So many "fat jokes" were written at the character Carol's expense and delivered by her older brother Mike (Kirk Cameron, Candace Cameron Bure's older brother) and younger brother Ben (Jeremy Miller. I really liked that Stephanie was the one who was keyed in to DJ's sudden change in behavior (crankiness) and eating habits (skipping breakfast, lunch and dinner) while all the adults including Becky were unaware even though there were warning signs (cutout pictures of supermodels in swimsuits taped on the refrigerator and choosing to have a water pop (icecube on a popsicle stick) instead of a cake sample. The adults even brushed off DJ's dizzy stumble as not a big deal until Stephanie finally confesses to the family that DJ hasn't eaten ANYTHING in 3 days. That's why she collapses at the gym. Not to mention who brushes their teeth BEFORE they eat. Join me next week when I cover what I believe is the darkest episode of Full House, S6E17: Silence Is Not Golden, which aired on February 16, 1993. In this episode when Stephanie is paired with a classmate she hates for a school project, she finds out that his father is beating him, and is sworn to secrecy. After watching the GROWING PAINS episode titled "Second Chance" we have to ask ourselves if Matthew Perry would've gotten a second chance on the show had the writers known that he would go on to become a huge star.  This episode was a rollercoaster ride of emotions and what better way to approach it than to make jokes about Tracey Gold's thick Long Island accent and Po's childhood imaginary friendship with Kirk Cameron. We also discuss the classic GROWING PAINS theme song and try to figure out if Alan Thicke was somehow involved with creating it.  As always, rate and review this show.

Tysto film commentaries

The Asylum is back! And without commercials! And that guy from Summer School (no, not Mark Harmon) and that girl from Growing Pains (no, not Tracey Gold) drive and fly and walk and otherwise travel from the frozen north to the soon-to-be-frozen slightly-further-south. Join me as I watch it for the first time and gradually figure out what city (or what coast, for that matter) the film is set in (I wasn't paying a lot of attention at the beginning). I analyze the motives of the protagonists (survive; get daughter) and the antagonists (smash whichever coast we're set in). Along the way, I make up a background for the mysterious and otherwise creditless director Travis Fort. I wax poetical about the various vehicles the characters travel in. I contemplate the dangers of "snornados". I say some things that might get me beaten up the next time I go to New York (our nation's capital), New Jersey (its retarded brother), and Canada (it only has two cities and its savage people worship glaciers). And I imagine other (copyrighted!) ways of portraying the glacier, such as by giving it an English accent and a hunchback.
