How can women eat more while staying fit? Episode 765 of the Savage Perspective Podcast dives into this fascinating topic. Host Robert Sikes and guest Joe Hoye discuss how proper nutrition can boost metabolism, improve energy, and support fat loss—without restrictive dieting. This episode reveals why eating more, not less, might be the key to better results.Joe explains how active women can maintain a healthy weight, and even thrive, on 1,800-2,400 calories a day (sometimes even 3,300). They discuss how under-eating leads to low energy and stalled progress and why gradually increasing calories through reverse dieting is vital for restoring metabolic health while avoiding fat gain. The episode also explores the role of foundational habits like strategic training, proper sleep, and balanced nutrition, especially during life changes like menopause. Joe emphasizes the importance of managing hormones like testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen for long-term health and success.Robert and Joe dive into the trade-offs between achieving a shredded physique and overall well-being. They also share how intuitive eating allows flexibility without the need for rigid tracking. This conversation challenges harmful dieting cultures that cause shame around food, instead encouraging practical tools to build a positive relationship with eating. Whether it's structuring your intake with ketogenic diets or managing carbs and meal timing, this episode blends science-backed advice with actionable strategies. From nutrition to mindset, this episode of the Savage Perspective Podcast with Robert Sikes and Joe Hoye will inspire you to rethink your approach to food, training, and health.Follow Joe on IG: https://www.instagram.com/joe.dietdetox/Register For My FREE Masterclass: https://www.ketobodybuilding.com/registration-2Get Keto Brick: https://www.ketobrick.com/Subscribe to the podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/42cjJssghqD01bdWBxRYEg?si=1XYKmPXmR4eKw2O9gGCEuQChapters: 0:00 Intro to Female Nutrition Secrets with Robert Sikes and Joe Hoye0:04 How Eating More Boosts Fat Loss and Metabolism1:54 Why Reverse Dieting Is Key to Long-Term Health5:56 Can Women Really Maintain Weight on 2,400 Calories?7:47 Are Women Undereating Without Realizing It?11:34 Managing Menopause Weight with Foundational Habits13:34 Hormonal Imbalances and How They Impact Recovery17:18 Why Higher Body Fat Can Boost Strength and Energy19:15 Struggling to Eat More? As we reckon with an administration hostile to equal rights, feminists will continue to fight. To help keep hope, we must remember and celebrate recent wins. One of those wins is the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which took effect on June 27, 2023. This is a landmark piece of legislation that prohibits discrimination and ensures workplace accommodations related to pregnancy for workers. But is the PWFA safe, or will it be threatened by the Trump Administration's crusade against reproductive rights and justice?Joining us to discuss the history and significance of the PWFA is our very special guest, Dina Bakst: Dina Bakst is the co-founder and former co-president of A Better Balance, a national nonprofit legal advocacy organization that uses the power of the law to advance justice for workers. Bakst was awarded the prestigious Heinz Award for the Economy for A Better Balance's successful work advancing work-family justice in 2021, and the first-ever Visionary Women Award for Women's Economic Empowerment in 2022. In 2020, she was named one of “16 People and Groups Fighting For a More Equal America” by Time Magazine. Prior to co-founding A Better Balance, Dina was an attorney with the NOW Legal Defense & Education Fund (now Legal Momentum) where she pursued litigation and policy advocacy on a wide range of women's rights issues.Check out this episode's landing page at MsMagazine.com for a full transcript, links to articles referenced in this episode, further reading and ways to take action.Support the show

Work from home or live where you work? That really depends on you. Because let's face it—as much as you thought working from home was going to be amazing, it may have come to a point where there is little separation between work and life. In this episode, I give you the formula that will require you to set boundaries with yourself, but will ultimately allow you to separate work from life and allow you to really enjoy not having a morning commute.Grab the WFH Guilt-free Self-care ChecklistApply for The ME Hour Method: one-on-one coachingFollow me on Instagram
Send us a textIn today's episode of In the Den, we confront a reality that far too many of our trans children are facing–relentless attacks from state legislatures and federal policies, bans on gender affirming care, restrictions targeting identity and expression, bathrooms, and pronouns. Trans people are under siege like never before, but there are also amazing champions for trans rights, including today's special guest Carl Charles, senior attorney for Lambda Legal. Special Guest: Carl CharlesCarl Charles is an experienced LGBTQ civil rights attorney focused on trans justice. He is currently serving as a Senior Attorney with Lambda Legal in their Southern Regional Office. Before working with Lambda Legal, Carl was a staff attorney at A Better Balance, the New York City Commission on Human Rights, and was a Skadden Fellow with the ACLU LGBT and HIV Project. "If you can't do that, then you should probably go see a physical therapist," he said. A physical therapist treats people with conditions or injuries that affect body movement. “如果你做不到,那么你可能应该去看物理治疗师,”他说。物理治疗师治疗患有影响身体运动的病症或损伤的人。 Another at-home test is called TUG, for "timed up and go." Hartley suggests doing this test with supervision. You begin the test from a seated position. Then, stand up and start a timer immediately. Walk three meters, turn and walk back to your seat. Stop the timer as soon as you sit down. If the test takes you longer to complete than 15 seconds, your risk for falling is very high. But, if you do it in 12 seconds or less, your fall risk is almost zero. Also, The National Council on Aging offers an online set of questions to predict your risk of a fall. Because muscle mass lessens in most people during their 30s, geriatricians say the best way to keep good balance is to stay physically active throughout life. Anmolsingh says it is never too late to act on that advice. Activities including tai chi and yoga are good for older adults because they involve controlled movements while shifting body weight. There also are simpler exercises people can work into their everyday lives. Anmolsingh says standing on one foot while waiting in line at a store is good. Or, at home, sit down and stand up several times straight without using a support. Another easy exercise is the three-way leg lift. Hold on to a support, then lift a leg to the front, then to the side and then to the back. The National Institute of Aging says people should spend at least 150 minutes per week in general physical activity to improve balance and overall health. Hartley said exercises done on a usual basis help train the brain to react correctly when you start to fall. "Just like an athlete needs to do repetition to train for a sport, you're doing repetition to train for everyday balance activities," he said. “就像运动员需要重复训练一项运动一样,你也需要重复训练日常平衡活动,”他说。
To age well, doctors say we should remember the importance of good balance. It matters when you wash yourself, put clothing on and, generally, move around in your home and elsewhere. As we age, good balance permits us to live more independently. Difficulties with balance can be dangerous. The United States Centers for Disease Control reports that three million older people in America seek medical care for fall-related injuries each year. But we can prevent some falls, said Roopa Anmolsingh. She is a geriatrician, a doctor who specializes in treating old people. She is also the creator of the balance class program at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. She said that "Some people have a misconception that part of getting old is, you're going to fall. That's not true. You can control how you fall, or if you fall." To prevent falls, geriatricians say people should start asking themselves questions about their balance as early as 50 years old. Here are the questions: 老年病学家表示,为了防止跌倒,人们早在 50 岁时就应该开始问自己有关平衡能力的问题。以下是问题:If you feel unsteady, or lose balance, from time to time, ask your doctor to check all your body systems that can affect balance. Along with muscle and bone problems, unsteadiness can also result from poor blood pressure, inner-ear problems, nervous system issues and more. Maybe you do not have unsteadiness but wonder about your skill at balancing. You can test yourself easily and at home to find out if you need any medical intervention. Stand next to a wall or something that can provide support if needed. Raise one leg. Can you hold that position for 10 seconds? Now try the other leg. If you can stand on each leg alone for 10 seconds, you should be fine, said Greg W. Hartley, a professor of physical therapy specializing in geriatrics at the University of Miami in Florida.

Their conversation features insights from two distinguished guests: Mandy Huth, an enterprise security leader with over 20 years of experience, and Whitney Merrill, a privacy attorney with a strong background in computer science and legal frameworks around consumer protection. The discussion opens with an exploration of individual liability for cybersecurity leaders and broader business leadership within organizations. Whitney Merrill argues that regulators like the FTC and SEC are increasingly holding individuals accountable for security and privacy lapses. The conversation highlights notable cases where executives have faced scrutiny, emphasizing the growing expectation for tangible processes and proper security postures within organizations.Mandy Huth underscores the importance of shared responsibility and accountability within a business, noting that security decisions are not made in isolation. She advocates for a collaborative approach where security leaders outline risks comprehensively to allow for informed decision-making across the executive team. Huth also expresses concern over the proliferation of CYA (Cover Your Ass) practices that prioritize documentation over meaningful risk mitigation, warning that this can dilute the effectiveness of security programs.Another central theme in the episode centers on the need for standardized frameworks and a common language to articulate risk across an organization. Both guests highlight the need for clear, consistent communication of risks to build a unified understanding among all stakeholders, from the board to individual teams. Piacente and Merrill emphasize that while existing frameworks like NIST and ISO provide a foundation, there is an ongoing need to adapt these frameworks to align with industry-specific contexts and evolving regulatory expectations.A significant takeaway from the conversation is the role of systemic risk and the potential outsized impact of seemingly minor vulnerabilities. Huth and Merrill caution against underestimating these risks and advocate for continuous improvement and adaptation of security measures. They suggest that prioritizing business-friendly security practices can help foster greater adoption and collaboration across the enterprise. The episode concludes with reflections on the future landscape of cybersecurity regulation and practice. Whitney Merrill envisions a shift towards democratizing security, making it more accessible and achievable for small businesses through standardized, affordable solutions. Meanwhile, Huth calls for a balance between regulatory clarity and flexibility to ensure innovative small businesses can thrive without being stifled by onerous security requirements.Overall, the conversation provides valuable insights into the complexities of cybersecurity management, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, clear communication, and adaptability in navigating modern security challenges. These discussions are essential for any business leader or security professional looking to enhance their organization's resilience against cyber threats.____________________________Watch this and other videos on ITSPmagazine's YouTube ChannelRedefining CyberSecurity Podcast with Sean Martin, CISSP playlist:

Do you use the cues to “pull up” or “point your toes”? Those are common cues teachers use in the dance world. One mental skill I talk about is attention and learning how to take a cue like “pull up” and translate that to a helpful action on your body. I know some dancers hear your cue and then nothing happens, but my guest today has some great insights to help us understand what dance teachers should know about dance science and how to use it in their curriculum. Today's guest is Maria Haralambis, an expert in dance kinesiology who currently works as both a ballet teacher and advisor for many dance education platforms. In this episode, we'll discuss the importance of bringing dance science into curriculums and shifting the way we think about anatomy, along with balance and spotting tips and the language to use when cueing to ensure each dancer understands what you're asking of them from an anatomy standpoint. Listen in while we talk dance anatomy and how to use that knowledge to train turns and balance and so many important skills! Welcome to a monumental milestone – Episode 100 of our podcast!
My guest today encountered a personal (and all-too-common) dilemma after she had her son eight years ago. As someone who worked full-time in corporate or tech jobs for most of her career, Jill Jacobs was anxious to get back to work after giving birth. Not only did she love working, but as she says today, she needed to get back to work to support her home, lifestyle, and new baby's needs. Quickly, she realized how daunting and unsustainable this was. Here she was working full time, paying somebody else to be home with her child and, when she did get home from work, she was clearly not bringing her best self. Ahhh…the American dream, right? Here's the deal, though. Educated women with children are leaving the work forces in droves. What Jill wanted was to work smarter, spend smarter, and love what she was doing. So, since she wasn't finding it in the workforce, she started it herself. Enter the Better Balance vision. At Better Balance, Jill and her team connect professionals who want to work less than 40 hours a week with the Employers looking to hire them. They help people find fulfilling part-time professional work, leveraging their education, experience, talents and skills while maintaining a balance that fits their priorities in life. Jill offers valuable and real insights about starting a business from the ground up, taking risks, and the value of finding mentors and supporters in your endeavor. And, as difficult it is, she also stresses the importance of taking small steps and imperfect action. I love this “I Could Never Do That” theme of taking a problem and creating a solution. Not just so you can flourish, but to help others do the same.
