REVERED AMERICAN GUITARIST/SINGER/SONGWRITER/JOHN WESLEY ON TOUR WITH ALT ROCK BAND VERTICAL HORIZON: EXCLUSIVE ON INTERVIEWING THE LEGENDS WITH RAY SHASHO! Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Interviewing the Legends I'm your host Ray Shasho. John Wesley has built a long and varied career as a songwriter, “sideman” guitarist, and recording artist. His music has been called lyrically sensitive and musically dynamic. His songwriting style incorporates emotionally charged vocals that evoke the honesty and intimacy of Roger Waters and Patty Griffin coupled with a melodic yet intricate guitar style reminiscent of David Gilmour, Alex Lifeson, Jeff Beck, and Warren Haynes. Wesley's guitar-driven acoustic and electric songs represent the cultivation of many inspirations — alternative, progressive, art, and classic rock genres intertwined with poignant lyrics drawn from the poetry of the common man. What really appeals to Wesley's fans worldwide is a spark of sincerity and sensitivity so oft absent in today's mainstream music In 2021, Wesley began touring as a guitarist and backing vocalist for alternative rock band from D.C. Vertical Horizon. The Olympic season is upon us and on the world's stage the greatest athletes are competing to be crowned the gold and in many cases the outcomes are determined by fractions. I'm sure that many athletes will leave thinking if I would have just done this differently or that differently. If I could just have it to do again. What would you do if you could turn back time? That is a big question. I believe God sovereignly uses everything for His purposes, but what if you could, would you have done differently. In Psalms 51 we find David who had been to the mountaintop and been used mightily by God, but in a moment he makes a daunting mistake that would come with a great price. In Psalms 51, David pens the words of his prayer of repentance. In it he cries out "blot out" what I've done. In this great song and prayer we find David can't turn back time, but we learn how to move forward when we can't take back the past.
If a person's mix tape is filled with meaningful songs, the Bible's "mix tape” would be the Book of Psalms. Together, we'll study several of these powerful hymns, poems, and prayers during our popular summer sermon series, “Mix Tape.” Volume 5 starts June 30! 6 SeenLike
In Psalm 51, we find King David in a difficult season of life. He's made mistakes, and he has regrets. Pastor Amy explores what he wrote in response to his sin, finding that God can forgive what seems unforgivable.

Today, I have the privilege of hosting Dr. Michael Roizen, a renowned expert in reversing and rebooting aging. His CV is extensive, you can read about him here. In 2007, Dr. Roizen was named Chief Wellness Officer at Cleveland Clinic, the first such position in a major healthcare institution in the United States. The concept might sound like something out of science fiction, but Dr. Roizen discussed real scientific endeavors aimed at reversing biological aging. He opened up about cutting-edge technologies such as 3D organ printing – which may one day allow us to replace aged organs with new ones – and research on telomeres and stem cells that are at the forefront of longevity studies.Key Takeaways:Reversing Biological Age: Dr. Roizen discusses how we can not only prevent but reverse our biological age through various methods.Future Innovations: A glimpse into future advancements such as 3D organ printing and breakthroughs in research that could allow us to reset our age back to our forties.Real Age Concept: An explanation of Real Age – an assessment tool that determines your body's health relative to your calendar age based on lifestyle choices. Take the Real Age test at ShareCare.com. Caveat. I took the test, which is long but multiple choice, and I knew based on some of the questions I was in trouble. The algorithm recommended that I don't eat enough whole grains--I eat almost none--or legumes, not good for my genetic profile, or fruit. I don't love fruit but do eat about two apples a week and berries or melon in season. It's pretty old school/western medicine oriented. I also got points off for not having a flu shot every year and never having had a pneumonia vax. Preventing Structural Change: Importance of avoiding severe structural damage now so you can benefit from potential future therapies.Health Parameters & Longevity Preparation: Insights into six parameters of health including diet, exercise, stress management (highlighted as most important), connection with others, and sleep quality.Metformin and Aging Debate: Discussion about Metformin's role in anti-aging; while it has been hyped up within certain circles, Dr. Roizen advises caution unless pre-diabetes or diabetes is present.Telomere Testing Accuracy Concerns: Skepticism around telomere length tests due to variability; emphasis on stem cell telomeres being more crucial than other cells' for longevity.Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD): Explanation of Valter Luongo's FMD which resets genes allowing for increased stem cell growth upon resuming a normal diet after fasting periods.Supplements That Work: A brief mention at the end regarding supplements that may provide more benefits than risks according to Longevity.com's scientific advisory board evaluations - baby aspirin twice daily, CoQ10, probiotics like Bifidobacterium animalis ssp lactis HN019™️ , vitamin D above 50 ng/ml levels and half a multivitamin twice daily were highlighted among others.Dr. Roizen's latest book, he has written or co-authored numerous books, is

I recorded myself counting down from 100 to 1 in the snow and played in backwards, hoping, against all odds, to turn back time TRANSCRIPTION OF EPISODE (bell and breath) (Ambiance and footsteps in the snow played backwards) On December 29, 2022, I recorded myself counting from 100 to 0 in crusty snow at our cottage. My goal was to explore what it felt like to cross over the tipping point into irreversible climate catastrophe. But, you know, to be fair, I like to just count my steps when I walk in the snow, so you can interpret it either way, either as a countdown to Armageddon or playing in the snow. Maybe a bit of both. Anything this ambiguity around the severity of the ecological crisis is in my mind these days and something I listen for, and I've noticed during this season about ‘sounding modernity', which is coming to an end soon, that most people suffer from eco anxiety and don't know what to do about it. They feel disempowered. I do too and sad and yet life goes on. That kind of dilemma. I have a lot of empathy for all of us, for living beings as we try to work our way through this crisis. So, I think it's helpful, though it might seem strange, to count from 100 to 0 but I suggest we do it backwards, just for fun. Here we go. 11 - 3-23 TURN BACK TIME AND TURTLENECK SWEATERS by Maine's Coast 93.1
To end the first full season of our weekly podcast, Duke Coughlin, Jordan Lazowski, and Nik Gaur travel back in time to November 2020 - the crucial juncture of this failed rebuild. In doing so, they are given the change to have a do-over and try to get the White Sox in a better position than they are right now. Which players would they sign - or not sign? What about some of the managerial decisions? What would their roster-building philosophy be? And, at the end of the day, could they have made things better? Everything is on the table in this final look at the "contention window" before turning the page to a new era in 2024.

There's been considerable backlash about the Barbie movie from both critics and listeners of my show. The problem? Well, most of the criticism comes from certain types of men. In fact, I had to search the darkest corners of the internet just to find a negative review of Barbie that made a decent point. And believe it or not, this fact could explain why they don't understand women, have no luck attracting them, and can't create a thriving relationship (even if you have a great desire for one). Why? Barbie is a movie for teenage girls based on a doll made for teenage girls. Of course some men have a hard time watching it: It wasn't made for them. But this also reveals a deep societal insight that can improve your relationships with women: The reaction to Barbie reveals how male-centric the world we live in still is today—in 2023. In today's show, I explain how this male-centric centering of society hurts your understanding of women, why watching Barbie (and Sex & the City) can help you succeed with women, and what ugly truths hating Barbie reveals. Listen now! Show Highlights: The weird way to attract higher quality women by watching the Barbie movie (3:02) The insidious “Turn Back Time” trap some men find themselves in which wrecks their chances of having a successful, modern relationship (3:56) Did you see Barbie and hated it? Here's the surprising thing that this reveals about you and your potential with women… (6:52) How you can mimic Ken's character arc from Barbie in real life (and become a magnet for high-quality females) (14:14) The “Sex and the City” secret for getting a PhD in understanding women (18:11) How ‘gender' differences being more foreign than ‘race' differences could be the reason you're not good with women (25:07) Does your neediness, fear, or insecurity sabotage your success with women? At colleges and universities across the country, a heated battle is playing out right now over workers' right to organize and have a say over how the institutions they keep afloat with their labor are run. From graduate student-worker unionization efforts and strikes at Temple University, the University of California, Columbia University, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern University, Northeastern University, the University of Chicago, and Indiana University, to faculty strikes (and near-strikes) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, The New School, Howard University, etc., to workers across the higher ed sector striking in the UK, the academic labor movement is one of the most explosive sites of labor struggle right now. Meanwhile, the administrative class is working overtime to not only slow down this movement, but to squash it altogether. As we speak, full-time and adjunct faculty at Rutgers University are prepared to strike for the first time in school history after months and months of bad-faith bargaining and union-busting from the university administration; at the same time, the Duke University administration has not only refused to acknowledge its graduate student-workers' right to unionize, but it has vowed to go to the National Labor Relations Board in the hopes of stripping that right from graduates at all private universities. In this panel episode, we talk with worker-organizers from Duke and Rutgers about the struggles taking place at their institutions and across higher ed. Panelists include: Matt Thomas, a PhD student in the English Department at Duke University and co-chair of the Duke Graduate Student Union; Kristina Mensik, a PhD student in the Political Science Department at Duke University and a member of the Duke Graduate Student Union; Bryan Sacks, an adjunct professor of Religion and Philosophy at Rutgers and vice president of the Rutgers Adjunct Faculty Union (PTLFC-AAUP-AFT); Todd Wolfson, associate professor of Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers and general vice president of Rutgers AAUP-AFT.Additional links/info below...Duke Graduate Student Union website, Facebook page, Twitter page, and InstagramRutgers Adjunct Faculty Union website and Twitter pageRutgers AAUP-AFT website, Facebook page, Twitter page, and InstagramHigher Ed Labor United (HELU) website, Facebook page, Twitter page, and InstagramMatt's Twitter pageKristina's website and Twitter pageTodd's faculty page and Twitter pageAlex Press, Jacobin, "Duke University Is Trying to Turn Back Time on Graduate Worker Unions"Deepa Kumar, Truthout, "One of US's Largest Public Universities Could See First Strike in Its 257 Years"Nancy Solomon, Gothamist, "With 94% Vote, Rutgers Faculty Tells Union Leaders They Can Call a Strike"Indigo Olivier, Teen Vogue, "Graduate Unions: Why Student Workers at University of California, Temple, More Are Striking"Dave Kamper, Labor Notes, "What's Fueling the Graduate Worker Union Upsurge?"Permanent links below...Leave us a voicemail and we might play it on the show!Labor Radio / Podcast Network website, Facebook page, and Twitter pageIn These Times website, Facebook page, and Twitter pageThe Real News Network website, YouTubechannel, podcast feeds, Facebook page, and Twitter pageFeatured Music (all songs sourced from the Free Music Archive:freemusicarchive.org)Jules Taylor, "Working People Theme SongHelp us continue producing radically independent news and in-depth analysis by following us and becoming a monthly sustainer: Donate: https://therealnews.com/donate-podSign up for our newsletter: https://therealnews.com/newsletter-podLike us on Facebook: https://facebook.com/therealnewsFollow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/therealnews

Reviewing poll returns asking if the Packers would welcome Aaron Rodgers back if he apologized for causing a stir this offseason. Why does ESPN's Dan Graziano point out that today may in fact be the day Aaron Rodgers gets traded to the Jets? Also, Wilde & Tausch Trivia; Twitter Trash or Twitter Treasure presented by WM; and an appropriate use of the music of Cher to close out the show.
We talk with cast members from “Tuck Everlasting” presented by The Community Theatre of Howell, but not before Jon shakes his pill bottle as he ponders the ratio of pain to pain meds and then we Turn Back Time on Cher's “costume”.
