What do men want? What do women need? And are these unsolvable riddles? Turns out, peace and safety aren't just buzzwords—they're the heartbeat of healthy Christian relationships. In this episode, we dig into a surprising insight: husbands often crave peace, and wives deeply need safety—but both needs grow from the same root… trust. We explore what this looks like practically and spiritually, for people who interact with people—whether single, dating, engaged, or married. Join us as we unpack a powerful reflection that stirred up some serious head-nodding. We talk about how unmet needs can lead to disconnection, drama, or even destructive patterns—but also how flipping the script and doubling down on your side of the relationship can lead to deeper intimacy, healing, and restoration. It's not about finger-pointing. It's about humility, teamwork, and tuning into the Holy Spirit to become a safe and peaceful place for each other. If you've ever caught yourself thinking, “If only they would change… then I could love better,” this episode invites you into a better way—one that honors Christ, builds trust, and offers hope. Whether you're navigating newlywed bumps, deepening your dating connection, or learning how to prepare well in singleness, this episode offers practical wisdom rooted in Scripture and compassion. Ever find yourself stuck on the question, “But why did they do that?!” Whether you're single, dating, engaged, or married, we've all been there—baffled, hurt, or just plain annoyed by the things people do. This week, we're unpacking a powerful truth: your healing isn't tied to getting an answer to “why.” In fact, as much as we want closure or explanations, sometimes the “why” is overrated (and, let's be honest, probably not as satisfying as we hope). Join Cosmo and Suzi as they draw from wise words by Matthias Barker (@matthiasbarker), personal experience, and biblical encouragement to reveal what real healing actually looks like. Spoiler alert: it's found in loving, safe relationships—first with God, then with others who truly see you, hear you, and walk with you. We'll talk about faith, forgiveness, how to process pain, and why sometimes God invites us to focus on what He wants to do IN us—not on unraveling someone else's motives. If you've ever wrestled with questions that don't have neat answers or felt stuck waiting for someone to make things right, this episode is your invitation to experience God's love in a whole new way. Let's discover how Christian relationships, spiritual growth, and trusting God can move us from wounded to whole—no “why” required. James 1:12..."Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him."

What's more important: keeping family happy or building a strong, God-centered relationship? In this episode, we kick off a seven-part series on relationship patterns that help Christian couples build healthy, God-centered relationships. These patterns came from Dr. Nicole LePera (@the.holistic.psychologist) who identified these seven patterns in couples who "made it." Pattern 1: They had family boundaries. They put the relationship first and had clear boundaries with family. They didn't vent to them about issues or make decisions based on what their families wanted. They did what was best for their partnership, together. Do you struggle to say no to your parents' advice or feel guilty for prioritizing your partner's needs? You're not alone! Today, we explore what it looks like to honor your relationship while navigating complex family dynamics. Drawing from Biblical wisdom and relatable (and funny!) personal stories, we discuss why setting healthy boundaries is essential not just for married couples, but also for dating and engaged Christians. God calls us to love and respect our families, but He also wants us to nurture the relationships He's placed at the center of our lives. So, how do you “leave and cleave” while keeping peace with your parents, in-laws, and friends? We share practical tips to build a strong foundation that prioritizes your spiritual partnership. Whether you're single, dating, engaged, or married, this episode will empower you to set boundaries that honor God and strengthen your Christian relationship. What if resilience in your relationships could mirror the endurance of an elite athlete? In this episode, we reflect on a powerful lesson from the world of elite sports and how it applies to our walk with God and our relationships. We begin by diving into an inspiring Instagram reel shared by Coach Dan Casey (@CoachDanCasey), featuring tennis legend Roger Federer. His message reminds us that even the top players in the world lose nearly half the points they play—but it's their ability to let go of failures and focus on the next moment that makes all the difference. Through this lens, we also explore how resilience in relationships mirrors the endurance of athletes. Drawing on stories from sports legends like Michael Jordan and Olympic diver Alison Gibson, we discuss how their perseverance in the face of setbacks can teach us to press on in faith, even when things don't go as planned. Just as athletes learn to trust in their training, we must trust in God's plan for us, embracing growth in both our personal lives and our Christian relationships. Ultimately, this episode is a call to focus on the bigger picture, trusting God even in moments of struggle or failure. By letting go of past mistakes and moving forward with hope, we can experience the fullness of spiritual growth and build healthy, faith-centered relationships that reflect His grace. James 1:4-6...Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. Can I accept (and embrace) that suffering can be for my good and my transformation into Christ-likeness? This conversation dives deep into the purpose and presence of suffering in our lives, particularly through a Christian lens. Darren Mulligan, the lead singer of We Are Messengers (@wearemessengers), shares an insightful perspective on how suffering is a gateway to abundant life, not something to be avoided or resented. His point is that while the Gospel promises life, that life comes through the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ—through suffering and sacrifice, not in spite of them. Suzi and Cosmo unpack this by acknowledging that suffering isn't something that we can escape, but rather, it's something that shapes us, deepens our faith, and draws us closer to God. While suffering is hard and sometimes feels overwhelming, it has purpose and meaning when viewed through the lens of faith. Culturally, we have a tendency to avoid or medicate pain, which often only postpones the real healing that comes from facing our suffering and allowing God to work through it. They conclude by offering prayer and inviting listeners who are struggling to reach out for support, highlighting the importance of community and spiritual connection during tough times. Their message is one of hope, reminding listeners that even in the hardest moments, God is present and at work. Romans 8:17...Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. Listen in as we dissect a thought-provoking exchange between a coach and a young student, and uncover deep truths that apply to our everyday relationships—whether it's in marriage, friendships, or even our work life. The coach's answer to the student's question, "What's more important, technique or attitude?" serves as the heart of today's discussion as we reflect on how our mindset shapes the quality of our relationships. But before we can work on technique, we need to be fully committed to the relationship itself. This episode challenges listeners to examine their own attitudes and consider how their beliefs influence their actions, especially when the going gets tough. Drawing parallels to Scripture and personal experiences, we explore how a shared vision and a commitment to growth are essential for any relationship to thrive. We often toss around compliments like "You're so smart" or "You look great," but how much do these words really impact the person receiving them? In this episode, we explore how to move beyond surface-level flattery and into the realm of truly edifying and encouraging others in a way that reflects God's love. Whether it's highlighting a friend's loyalty, admiring their contagious laughter, or acknowledging their growth in a specific area, we want to encourage you to speak words that matter. He is a great storyteller and we found so much depth to his analogy! In this compelling episode, we dive into the profound truth that Jesus tests us not to break us but to build us. In Romans 5:3-5, we read, "...we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us." In short, enduring trials is essential for personal growth and spiritual maturity, and we can learn how to embrace challenges as opportunities to deepen our faith and fortify our character. Do you see friends as disposable? In this week's podcast episode, we listen to clips from a podcast with Simon Sinek (@simonsinek) on The Diary of a CEO Podcast (@thediaryofaceopodcast). Simon says that having good friends around you makes life worth living - it makes you more resilient to the struggles of life. We agree and discuss the nuances of being a good friend. But sadly, we also found that two things are true: We're not good at making friends Our culture tells us that family is stronger than blood and marriage is a covenant, but we often see friends as disposable But the blood of Christ bonds us in a covenantal relationship. How do we know how much to give of ourselves to our friends? From material things to time, energy, and emotion. We ask God for guidance and discernment! He wants us to lay down our lives for our friends, to serve them, as God calls. John 15:13-15…Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. We seek God for what we should do AND we understand what they need (which we learn through IFLoWs). Original Instagram Reel can be found here. People are like puzzles - we can't understand the whole person by knowing just one piece. In this week's podcast episode, we hear Denzel Washington give a concise synopsis of what it means to have a dream versus to have a goal. We, of course, applied this to relationships! If you want healthy, God-honoring relationships, you must put in the effort to see the whole person and that means you can't just dream about having great relationships, you have to plan for them. We all have dreams and goals within our relationships. IFLoWs (I Feel Loved When… Statements) are actionable things that can be done to help another feel loved. When practiced with consistency and intentionality – over time – IFLoWs are our plans in action that reap the fruit of great relationships. Listen to the Instagram Reel here. It's ok to take a break in the midst of conflict. HOWEVER, you must also come back together to repair, reconnect, and resolve the conflict to figure out how to move forward. This week we're listening to Jimmy Knowles (@jimmy_on_relationships) talk about shutting down during conflict in this Instagram reel. We had very different – basically opposite – styles of dealing with conflict that we had to sort through in order to resolve conflict in a healthy way. The goal of conflict is mutual understanding – because we want to enjoy spending time together. Listen to this week's episode as we talk through: What we think it actually means to not let the sun go down on your anger Jumping into problem solving mode vs. allowing the other person to process their thoughts and feelings Feeling overwhelmed by the emotion of another person “Tell me what's wrong and I'll go fix it” vs. “You are saying I'm what's wrong and can't be fixed” Getting to the core of the emotional problem vs. the actionable problem to solve Proverbs 15:1…A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. If you want to destroy your relationship, make assumptions. If you want to inject it with hope and joy, believe the best. In this week's podcast episode, we listen to Dr. Morgan Cutlip's (@drmorgancutlip) strong warning against making assumptions in relationships. We encourage people to instead believe the best. We actually did a whole miniseries episode on this idea, which you can find here. Dr. Cutlip suggests using the following questions and phrases to help when you feel assumption sneak in: The story I've been telling myself about why you do _____ is _____. Is this accurate? When you say _____ I am thinking you mean _____. Is this what you mean? I don't want to assume. This is what I'm hearing you say: _____. We all know the adage: Forgive and forget. So the question is, have you truly forgiven if you don't forget? And furthermore, is this what the Bible tells us to do? (Hint: it isn't!) In this week's (long!) podcast episode, we first listen to Nick Pollard (@thepeopledispleaser) as he shares that “Forgiveness is one of the most misused words in the English language.” Then we unpack his concepts and talk about: The importance of understanding why you are confessing Inviting Jesus into the wounded places through confession The idea that sometimes the most loving thing to do is to confront sin in someone else Paying attention to emotions without allowing them to dictate our actions Confession and forgiveness being a process that you must do in relationship if you want to maintain the relationship And much more! If that sounds like a lot, it is! You've probably heard this quote:“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” We contend that for a believer, your identity should be found in Christ, not those five people. In this week's podcast episode, we talk through a reel shared by Shadé Zahrai (@shadezahrai) who interprets this quote to mean that who you spend a lot of time with influences how you feel about yourself. She concludes that if they don't support you, you should ditch them. We believe that instead of "finding a new inner circle" (as she puts it) you should find Jesus! Listen to find out more about why this simple solution actually works. Proverbs 13:20 ESV...Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
