San Diego's McKamey Manor drew fame as a boundary breaking, interactive haunted house - not one filled with ghosts and goblins - but one where visitors are tied up, waterboarded, or buried alive. Now located in Tennessee, attraction goers are saying the manor is going too far with its physical and mental abuse. Owner Russ McKamey disagrees, pointing to its rabid online following for his no charge, “extreme haunt” experience. But its murky waiver forms, military-grade stress techniques, and intimidation of visitors who want to leave the haunted house now have the authorities wondering if McKamey Manor is actually a torture chamber. In the podcast “Inside McKamey Manor” from Always True Crime, host Elizabeth McCafferty explores the controversial scare attraction, why people are drawn to it, and why it's still in operation. She also talks to a variety of experts with insight into various aspects of the horror experience.OUR SPOILER-FREE REVIEWS OF "INSIDE McKAMEY MANOR" BEGIN IN THE FINAL ELEVEN MINUTES OF THE EPISODE.In Crime of the Week: O brother, where art thou? Testifying to God's power to redeem us in times of trouble, this Psalm is set to ‘The Meeting of the Waters.' It tells story after story of God redeeming people from various situations ~ wandering in deserts, imprisoned by misery and grief, stormy waters ~ and it continues to return to the encouraging message passed on from those who have experienced redemption: “From trouble, God will redeem us still.”You can find lyrics, scores/books, mp3s, CDs for O Give Thanks on the Celtic Psalms webpage (www.celticpsalms.com)Listen to Kiran and Celtic Psalms on TEDxThe journal is available in paperback format on Amazon! Here's the link to the paperback journal (available globally), and if you would be so kind as to leave a review on the Amazon platform in your region, that will help other readers find it! Written by Ireland's great composer Turlough O'Carolan, Eleanor Plunkett is a cascading tune, set here to a Psalm of yearning and praise. La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Father Peter Tukan, SDB from Salesian Don Bosco Gerak Boleng in Labuan Bajo, Diocese of Ruteng, Indonesia. Isaiah 40: 1-11; Rs psalm 96: 1-3.10ac.11-13; Matthew 18: 12-14 AM I THE LOST SHEEP? The theme for our meditation today is: Am I the Lost Sheep? The God in whom we believe is the Lord of fellowship, unity, and wholeness. Original sin remains the principle cause for divisions, crises and scandals of separation. This includes the experience of loss. God is very concerned when human beings as the best creations drift away, disappear and perish. Therefore He had sent His Son Jesus Christ to the world to save those who have been lost. Jesus Christ in His work on earth, had been a shepherd who made Himself busy searching for the lost sheep. Even to this moment, He is busy doing such work. Am I the lost sheep? It could be true. Jesus emphasizes that all that the Father has entrusted to Him, nothing will be lost from His hands. He wants all to be saved through all His actions as the Messiah, as prophesied by the prophet Isaiah in the first reading. The lost sheep is probably the same person who stays away from Church daily life, not only in regular Church worships, but also in the feeling of being excluded because of certain serious reason. Maybe the lost sheep is the person who experiences when God is not on the side of his family, with difficulties and suffering one after another, he or she then stops praying. Maybe the lost sheep is the same person who would rather step aside and not want to be involved anymore because of hurt and despair. And there are many more similar circumstances that describe there are many sheep disappearing from the Church. This is the one side of the problem: Am I the lost sheep! On the other hand, this question becomes serious, as it goes: are my neighbors in the the Church, sensitive to this and then trying to take me home? The answer should be yes. Jesus takes the first step. The next steps are either Church leaders or activists and of course other fellow believers. This has been an important task in the life of the Church from the very beginning. This Church may not contain divisions between her members or between some members and her leaders. In building mutual fellowship in the church and perseverance to maintain it, the Holy Spirit is always with us to move and enable us all. So if someone from us is now feeling to be the lost sheep in such situation, probably it's very important to remember that it's not just the pain and suffering that he or she is bearing but God is so concerned and He immediately seeks and finds him or her out. When He finds him or her out, she or he couldn't prevent or resist it, no matter how big his or her strength is. In this time of Advent, let ourselves be brought home by the Lord. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... O Jesus Christ, continue to be the good and primary Shepherd for us, so that we may feel at home as Your beloved flock. Glory to the Father... In the name of the Father... --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/media-la-porta/message

Gostou do episódio?
