"One Year of Saying Yes: A Journey of Faith and Restoration" Join Cherisse as she celebrates the one-year anniversary of Rhythms That Restore! In this heartfelt episode, she reflects on her unexpected path to podcasting, the false narratives she had to overcome, and how God has faithfully guided every step of this journey. Cherisse shares the powerful lesson that has transformed her life: "He is enough, and therefore I am enough." Like Abraham, Moses, and other biblical figures who felt inadequate, she discovered that God doesn't need us to be enough—He simply needs our "yes." She reveals how this podcast began from a place of curiosity and developed through divine connections, including her mentorship with podcaster Wren Robbins and the invaluable support of her friend Liz Krol. This anniversary episode, coinciding beautifully with Holy Week, explores how saying "Here I am, Lord" with open hands creates space for God to work in extraordinary ways. Cherisse shares how Psalm 91:1 has been her anchor throughout the year, reminding her to dwell in the shadow of the Almighty. Whether you're wrestling with feelings of inadequacy, searching for purpose, or simply needing the reminder that God meets us in our weakness, this celebration of faithfulness will inspire you to take your next brave step forward. She emphasized the reach a podcast could provide, citing statistics and personal success stories of individuals in the ministry who had started podcasts.  Wren explained the concept of Parkinson's law and its relevance to time management, especially in the context of a podcast. She emphasized that, if one has a specific amount of time dedicated to a task, they can complete it within that timeframe. She then moved on to discuss the six initial steps for creating a podcast, which include: setting a goal, choosing a dynamic title, creating readable artwork, acquiring necessary equipment, securing a hosting site, and creating a trailer for the podcast. (Link to free download detailing these steps.) They both agreed that a podcast could help a church reach more people and establish a deeper connection with its members. Wren shared the example of a pastor and his wife who started a podcast, which provided additional teaching and helped build community.  Wren discussed her upcoming “Flight” Podcast Group Program, which is set to launch in the first week of March. The program, structured into weekly steps with homework, is designed to help participants launch their podcast within 10 weeks. The Second Phase Podcast - Personal Branding & Brand Marketing and Life Strategies for Success for Female Entrepreneurs

Do you want to start a podcast? There are many benefits of podcasting and it can be simple to start a podcast of your own. Are you ready to start a podcast? There are strategies you need to start a podcast that can simplify the process without causing overwhelm.  When you start a podcast, you can enjoy the many benefits of podcasting, like gaining visibility faster. If you are feeling overwhelmed about starting a podcast, remember that God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. Therefore, if you feel called to start a podcast, now is the time. God will provide the information and knowledge that you need. It might feel scary, but you won't regret it. Storytelling is one of the benefits of podcasting Your story is important and will influence others in a positive way. Telling your story will build an emotional connection with others. God used storytelling in the Bible. We connect with our faith through Biblical stories. No one can take your stories away from you - how you got into business, something God did in your life, or even a basic story. There are 2 ways that story is valuable, especially through podcasting One of the most intimate forms of communication is podcasting. When people listen to you, they feel an intimate connection. It's your voice to their ears. Storytelling through podcasting invokes empathy. We understand the other person and we're in it with them. In addition, storytelling builds connection. When people buy from us, it is an emotional connection. Building this intimate connection through podcasting increases brand awareness, but most importantly you build trust which inspires them to buy from you. Some strategies you need to start a podcast with simplicity The first step is to set a goal for your podcast. Decide on your goal for starting a podcast. Is the podcast your ministry or are you doing it to generate leads for your business? Then it's time to dig deep and create. You need to create the following: Market research Title and name of your podcast Graphic - eye-catching and unique - recognizable and memorable Trailer Episode - clear and concise The first three episodes to launch with - so people can binge the episodes right away Intro and outro Decide on your music Start with clarity around what your message is going to be and the end result you want your listeners to receive. One way to learn what people want is to do market research. Be sure you serve your listeners well. This also helps you gain the voice of the customer. Remember, it isn't about you. It's about how you serve and help others. Get out of the way and let God shine through you and work through you.   Read the full show notes and access all links and additional resources.    Website for Wren Robbins   Want to learn more about how you can grow your business without social media? Curious about what I learned by doing 30 Reels in 30 days on Instagram? Maybe the better question is what did I learn by getting out of my comfort zone and doing the hard thing. I'll answer both questions in Episode 79 of Just One Simple Thing. Stay tuned!Y'all. Do you ever get a crazy idea and then wonder what ever in the world made you think it was a good idea? For a lot of us, that happens at least once a day.I decided to do a series of Instagram Reels .... One every day in the month of August. As it turned out, it wasn't as hard as I expected and it was actually fun ... sometimes. So here are a few things I learned from doing 30 reels in 30 days.1. There is no guarantee of instant growth. While it may be tempting to buy into the hype that this is a super growth strategy, it actually re-inforced my belief that there is no “one thing” that is going to make all the difference in your ministry or business journey. 2. Some things work, and other things don't.It's more important than ever to learn what works for you and what doesn't, and doing a Reel every day gave me plenty of opportunity to try different things.3. A plan and a system make everything easier.I would have never made it to the end of the month if I had tried to create all new stuff for this series.4. Everything is more fun with a friend. My friend Wren Robbins and I discovered that we were both doing reels every day in August. During the month, we checked on and encouraged each other.Overall, I'm glad I did 30 reels in 30 days. I learned a lot about how my audience consumes content on Instagram, how to create good reels, and how things are changing on the platform. But most importantly, I learned a lot about myself. I can do hard things outside of my comfort zone, but in order to do that, I have to set myself up for success.ACTION STEPWhat is the hard thing you feel God leading you to do? E36: Three Small-Thinking Myths About Building a Community

Just One Simple Thing

A small community can be a powerful catalyst for your business or ministry. But is your small thinking keeping your community small? In this episode, we'll look at three myths about community that result from small thinking, and bust them by looking at community in the early church. The #toughgrace truth is that you can't depend on Google, or social media, or Pinterest to get your great idea in front of people who are going to snap it up.  It doesn't happen that way. You need a following that is going to actually see your offer. And here's a little secret ... if you've built an engaged community, instead of just a following, you can have successful offers without a huge audience. An example of this is my friend Eva Kubasiak, who said on a recent bonus episode that she made her first $1000 when she had less than 1000 followers.  Listen to the bonus episode with Eva here. But just because your community starts small doesn't mean it is best for it to stay small. Throughout this series, we've been looking back at the early church in Acts chapter 2, where it says: “All the believers were together and had everything in common. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” This verse gives us a  basis to address some of the biggest myths about building a community. Let's see if you have heard or believed any of these myths.1. Community only happens in private groups2. Community only happens in small groups3. Community only happens with high-maintenance effortThese three myths have a common theme ...they are based on small, closed thinking centered on a personality, rather than open, expansive thinking centered on common goals, passions, ideals and messages.ACTION STEPDive into your community and spend time with them. Whether it's in the comments of your public social media posts, your private group, or in your direct messages ... build those strong ties that will connect people with your message. There are two other special opportunities to learn about growing a community that buys or buys in.  Check out the Christian Woman Business podcast with Esther Littlefield, starting at episode 57. And as part of this series on building community, I'm releasing a bonus episodes with some of my friends about how they built communities around their message on different platforms. The next one is with Wren Robbins, who shares how she has built a community through podcasting. Today's episode covers how to choose email providers that will simplify your routine!   In this special series we've been bringing you all month long in September, we've discussed best practices for email list building. We started out with episode 8, 7 Link in bio apps for driving traffic, because if you're on Instagram, you need to be building an email list. It doesn't matter where you are. If you are an online marketer or trying to drive traffic somewhere, you need an email list! So go back and listen to episode eight, if you haven't caught it already. That one was a fun one. I did with my son and daughter, and we all just kind of conversed about these seven different options for Instagram Link In Bio. We have sample screenshots and links of all of them in the show notes for that episode.  Episode nine was about effective newsletter opt-ins for email list building. My special guest was Sarah Geringer and she taught us more about exactly how to do this and the different places to put it on your website. She also gave us a biblical spin on this and how to give your list up to God and how to honor your readers and to just treat them with respect. Let's go through them one at a time.   1. Mailchimp   "I'm still with Mailchimp. I just clean out my list every time it looks like I'm getting close to the limit. It's one of the easy and it's free email providers, and I have it set up so I don't have to even think about it most of the time." - Dawn Klinge. Sarah Geringer says, "I am a loyal customer to MC if nothing goes wrong. I've used them for five years and plan to continue!"       Click image to visit website!     2. Mailerlite   "I still have my old SunSparkleShine email list on Mailchimp but I'm using (and liking) Mailerlite for my coaching site. I made the switch around the time MC said they'd be charging for multiple lists/groups." - Marva Smith   Click image to visit website!     3. GetResponse "I used GetResponse for awhile and am now switching to MailerLite. Lots of my clients had it and I liked the user friendly setup but I'm primarily using email now as an author, not a service provider and MailerLite is known for having a lot of great author-specific functions." -  Jillian Bright     Click image to visit website!   4. Flodesk "Flodesk $19.00 per month, and I absolutely love it!  Super easy, very strategic, lots of templates, sequences are awesome, very user friendly.  It was a smooth transition from MailChimp.  When I go to write a newsletter, everything is streamlined and easy. Video trainings too." - Wren Robbins     Click image to visit website!   5. Active Campaign  "I like Active Campaign for the best return and best number of opens, automation and customer service."  - Melanie Redd     Click image to visit website! 6. ConvertKit   "I love CK out of many email providers because 1. Email is their biz and we are who they serve, they keep it simple, basic, and always deliver.  2. Their customer service is second to none, and 3. Every time I've tried elsewhere I've returned to them knowing they are...

I offer value If you're going from zero to 100 in 15 days to experience follower growth, you have to offer value. It's fun to do some of the less intentionally planned Reels sometimes. They can be spontaneous but they need to be related to your business.  You have to offer value for people to follow you. That's just all there is to it. Then it's shareable when it's valuable and people are going to comment. If it's valuable, they're going to save it. They're going to like it. And they're going to comment! It sounds so simple, but it really it's just finding your niche, whatever your niche is, then double down on it and offer value. Those little golden nuggets, those tidbits that everybody's wondering about, you could even just share one tip. That is what makes all the difference. Number six. You ready?        6. I asked interactive questions   R: This is something you teach, when we talked about podcast coaching, you always said to have a call to action in the podcast.  W: You want someone to do something after listening to all the awesome value that you offer. That's a huge step toward follower growth! You want them to take that and do something about it. For example, follow me on Instagram, tag me, or DM me. You can talk about email, you know a free download in the show notes. You are telling them something to do. It's the same thing with Instagram where you teach us a call to action. It might just be like heart this, give me an emoji or it might be save or share, or it might be go get my download or go listen to the podcast or swipe in the carousels. It could be any of those things. What I did is I asked interactive questions. You know why I didn't do it? Cause I was scared. I was worried nobody was going to answer but if not, it's okay. It's okay. If nobody answers at first, just text your biz bestie and be like, “Hey, can you answer this question for me real quick? Nobody's answering and I just need one person to say something.”  Here's the thing though, you get used to it and people will do it because they get used to it too. I didn't expect that.  So I'm asking interactive questions. It's huge because it encourages people to be social, and that's what social media is all about.   Experience follower growth by trying at least one of these steps     So, that's how I got from zero to 115 days. I did all six of those steps and y'all I have a son and we are in the midst of getting our house ready to sell. I mean,  it's not like I had tons of time, you know, I really didn't spend a lot of time on this and I had clients. If you do these, not even all six,  just the bulk of these, you're going to grow no matter what and you're definitely going to have fun. After I got to a hundred followers, that's when I said “Okay, Wren, let's pull back and get more strategic.” I had to think about what's going to work for for me in my everyday li...

Growing 100 followers in 15 days may seem like an unattainable feat, but today we're going to talk about how to do just that. She has curated over 175 podcast episodes on her own podcast called “Friends of a Feather” where she encourages others to spur them on in the gifts and talents God has given them.  Click below for show notes https://ruthiegray.mom/100-followers-in-15-days/   Wren: Thank you! I love that you sing.  We should have done a duet you know, that would have been awesome.    Ruthie: As I've mentioned, you are my very own podcast coach and the reason I've stayed steady for over a year. Now, we just celebrated one year, one of the Instagram Insider Hacks podcast. I believe I was your first coaching client, but since then, you've gone on to coach many more who have then launched their own podcast. So tell us, why did you decide to do that?     6 Steps to 100 followers in 15 days   W:  I started my podcast five years ago. I was a part-time stay at home mom and a kindergarten teacher, both part-time. I remember where I was on the road when I was driving and God was like, you need to start a podcast. And I was like,  Okay. I don't know anything about that.  I went home and searched Google many, many days and weeks trying to figure it out, but I knew God had called me to it. So I was like, we're going to figure this out.  I spent many hours doing that and I finally started it. I did not have a launch and didn't do anything right in the beginning. Also, I didn't even use hashtags on Instagram because I was scared somebody was gonna find me. Like, what? That's why you have a podcast. So that people find you and hear your message. I was scared, I mean, that was five years ago. Then I just continued on, but I was in a Facebook group for business coaching because everybody needs a business coach.       I just put a question out there. “Hey, y'all do I need to do a podcasting course or do I need to do coaching?” And you (Ruthie) were like, you need to do coaching and I might be your first client. I was like, okay. And then I did not follow up. You Facebook messaged ME. So that's how it all started. But then I remember as soon as I started podcasting, I would be listening to Business Podcast. I would be reading, like getting my hands on anything and everything about business. Up til then, I never realized why until when I got your message and I was like, okay, I think maybe coaching might be something for me one-on-one especially because I enjoy that. I'm gifted in that.  I know podcasting, I've been doing it for five years.  Plus, I can tell others what not to do because I did what not to do and I figured it out. So, that's how it started. It started with you Ruthie!   Accountability leads to growth   R: You gotta do what you say you're going to do! That's what we need. Like you said, it's good to have a coach because they kind of hold your feet to the fire and make sure you're accountable and committed. You've got to do it and if not, we'll come hunt you down, in a sweet way. Right? So, then you went on to become a client of mine and joined my membership training. You grew your Friends of a Feather account on Instagram, and then you continued to hit your goals and explode your Instagram growth. I mean, talk about a dream student. This girl here is the queen of Reels here. You just launched a brand new Instagram account after building the other one up so much. After working for the past five years on your original account, why don't you share with us why you did that? W: You know, it was totally a personal decision for me. I was posting on my Friends of a Feather account. I was thinking, okay, I know what to do, and I'm going to do it.

Launching is hard work. Whether it's a podcast, a business, or a new ministry idea, there's always much to learn, and so so much to do. In Episode 16, I'm sharing the lessons I learned when launching this podcast. Some are specific to podcasts, but some I think will encourage you no matter what you are launching. Here are a few things I learned while launching my podcast:1.  Your Thing Can Be Whatever You Want: Whatever you are trying to start, don't feel boxed in by what you see others doing.  Focus on YOUR people and what they need, not on OTHER people and what they are doing.  Just because something works for someone else, doesn't mean it's right for your audience.2.  Limit the Input: In this case, less was definitely more. I didn't have time, money, or energy to consume information from a lot of different sources. And I know that when we get too much input, it leads to confusion and contradictions.I have several friends in podcast education and support, so I decided to use each one for what I saw they were best at. Here's how I divided it up: Podcast In A Weekend from Esther Littlefield! It is no fluff,  with the basic things you need to get started.Launch Coaching from Wren Robbins  Wren is one of the most enthusiastic, creative people I know, and while she offers a complete range of podcast coaching services, I did just one session with her to map out the launch plan.Tech Support from Ian at Phillip Productions  I wanted to be sure I was doing the best I could from a technical standpoint. Ian was a calm, steady hand that kept me from freaking out when surprises came up along the way.3.  A Plan and Accountability Keep You on Track: My plan wasn't very detailed. Just the first steps at the beginning, and the launch date at the end. As soon as I was pretty comfortable about that launch date, I started telling people about it. No big splashy announcements yet ... just the people I am close to. Accountability was a huge part of launching on time.4.  Involve Your Audience In Your Work: From the  beginning, I wanted my audience to follow along on this journey. We did a fun Podcast Naming Tournament on my Instagram stories that gave me so much insight into how they view me and what they need.By the time I announced the trailer and the actual launch date, they were completely invested and I was confident I was producing something they would love.
