When Shannon Watts created Moms Demand Action in 2012, her intention was to give moms a way to take action on gun violence. Since then, she hasn't just seen concrete results like stronger gun laws and closed loopholes. She's seen the transformative power of getting together in person around shared values.Shannon wrote about this idea in her recent book, Fired Up. She explained that there's a spark within all of us, a catalyst for our life's meaning and joy. And when many sparks all ignite at once, what do you get? A bonfire. The idea immediately resonated with so many women that they began forming their own groups — called Bonfires — in their local communities. If you've been following Red Wine & Blue for a while, this may all sound familiar to you. Women? Forming local groups? Around shared values? Connecting in person? Making a difference? Sounds like what the Red Wine & Blue Network is all about! And because Katie Paris and Shannon Watts are collaborative and strategic women, they weren't offended or territorial. They wanted to work together! So Bonfire and the Red Wine & Blue Network are teaming up to share what we've all learned and support women who want to start Bonfire or Network groups in their town.If you want to learn more about how it works, you can join us for a live virtual event on Monday, March 30th at 7:30pm Eastern. Yes, we see the irony of holding a virtual event to help women find in-person connections.

Everyone needs their people. Scripture is filled with them—Adam had his partner, David his mighty men, Esther her mentor, Paul his companions, and even Jesus surrounded Himself with friends when facing the cross. Isolation makes us vulnerable, but community makes us resilient. Like a herd protecting its own, the church becomes the place where faith is guarded, sharpened, and sustained. The enemy isolates; Jesus gathers. Jesus steps into this fractured world and forms a people. He calls disciples into shared life, sends them two by two, and builds His church as a gathered body. Faith flourishes in community because community reflects the very nature of God Himself. Jesus calls us to something better: a church where burdens are shared, hope is reinforced, and discipleship is lived side-by-side.

A late-night encounter with a fantasy novel lit the fuse, and Richie Billing walked away from law to chase the kind of storytelling that steals your sleep. We sit down with Richie to unpack the leap, the grind, and the systems that make a modern writing life possible without the smoke and mirrors. If you've wondered how authors really pay the bills, this candid, generous conversation gives you the roadmap and the reality check. We get specific about the money. Richie breaks down why per-book royalties rarely add up, how crowded discount markets distort expectations, and why volume alone can't be the goal. Instead, he shows how to find your readers by leaning into comparisons, build a list with SEO that quietly compounds, and use honest, relationship-first emails to turn casual subscribers into committed fans. He also opens up about Patreon: simple tiers, low friction pricing, and benefits designed for how people actually read—downloadable ebooks, immersive web readers, and bonus audio—so support becomes recurring, not a one-off.The creative experiments are wild and smart. Richie explains how he self-published a novella with an original soundtrack—QR codes in print and tappable links in ebooks—where each character's theme mirrors their emotional arc. He also shares “local-first” marketing tactics, from community events to QR stickers that cut through online noise. We dig into his podcast playbook, the real limits of monetizing audio without scale, and the crucial shift from making content for writers to serving readers who will buy your fiction. Along the way, we talk about writing routines around full-time work, class barriers in publishing, and why a weekly web novel can blend drafting, feedback, and momentum.Don't miss this fascinating episode, filled with golden nuggets.Have a comment? On today's episode, we welcome Jen Hardell, Founder & CEO of Subourbon Life — the bourbon-based ready-to-drink cocktail brand redefining how—and when—America's native spirit is enjoyed.Jen is a visionary founder with deep operational experience in consumer and spirits businesses. With Subourbon Life, she identified a clear gap in the fast-growing RTD category: while vodka and tequila dominated shelves, bourbon lacked a lighter, more social, lifestyle-forward expression. She set out to change that by creating non-carbonated bourbon cocktails made with real aged bourbon, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, and a strong emphasis on community through the brand's “Find Your People” philosophy. In this episode, Jen shares how she translated operational rigor into building a founder-led spirits brand, the challenges of bringing an RTD bourbon from concept to shelf, and how Subourbon Life balances quality, consistency, and scalability in a crowded market. From flavor development and branding to distribution and leadership, this conversation offers valuable insight for founders, operators, and anyone curious about innovation in CPG and spirits. Are you interested in sponsoring and advertising on The Kara Goldin Show, which is now in the Top 1% of Entrepreneur podcasts in the world? With a significant online following, Anna has dedicated over three decades to helping those affected by childhood trauma, enabling them to lead happier, more fulfilling lives. Her forthcoming book, "Connectability: Heal the Hidden Ways You Isolate, Find Your People, and Feel, at Last, Like You Belong," focuses on overcoming feelings of disconnection—a common issue both among trauma survivors and those with normal childhoods. Anna highlights that many individuals crave connection and understanding but often feel isolated, leading to loneliness and strained relationships.During the discussion, Anna shares her personal background of growing up in a commune with a mother plagued by addiction, which subjected her and her family to violence, poverty, and neglect. Despite these challenges, she managed to remain a high-functioning student throughout her childhood and early adulthood. However, a series of traumatic events in her 30s, including the death of her mother, a serious heartbreak, and a violent attack, left her with profound psychological effects, specifically post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). At that time, the concept of PTSD was not well understood outside military contexts, leaving Anna feeling isolated and struggling with her mental health amidst overwhelming shame and fear.In her conversation with Gina Ryan, Anna explains the significant misdiagnosis of childhood trauma symptoms, revealing her struggle with emotional dysregulation and her eventual journey to recovery. After initially finding therapy unhelpful, Anna serendipitously discovered effective techniques for managing her anxiety and depression through support from a friend who had also endured severe life struggles. These techniques, which included writing down her anxious and angry thoughts and feelings—effectively releasing them—and practicing meditation, became transformative tools for her.#CPTSD, #ComplexPTSD, #ChildhoodTrauma, #TraumaHealing, #Dysregulation, #NeurologicalDysregulation, #EmotionalRegulation, #Connectability, #Disconnection, #Isolation, #AnnaRunkle, #CrappyChildhoodFairy, #AnxietyCoachesPodcast, #DailyPractice, #Reregulated, #ReRegulation, #TraumaRecovery, #HealingTechniques, #SelfHelp, #LifeSkills, #SocialSkills, #Meditation, #AnxietyRelief, #MentalHealth, #SelfCare, #PersonalGrowth, #HealingJourney, #InnerPeace, #Belonging, #GinaRyan, #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
