#189 // Are you a conference "junkie" . . . attending conference after conference for the next Holy Spirit "hit?"Listen, I've been there, Sister . . .I had this belief that the big breakthrough I needed or the touch from God that was going to finally shift things could only be found during a big, Christian conference with all the lights, sounds and fanfare. I would be so expectant for that type of encounter at these events, but there was very little expectation of God encountering me in that same way in my everyday life. The truth is: breakthrough and deliverance can happen anywhere!Yes, it can happen at the altar during a conference, but it can also happen in your living room as you set your heart and soul on the desire to experience God in a new way.But why are we talking about this? Well, friend... I'm hosting a women's conference next weekend and I want to help my ambitious, sound-making, Jesus Girls (like you) to know how you can properly prepare when you decide to attend a Christian conference. It's more than just popping up and enjoying the worship and word. Here are three things I'd encourage you to do before stepping into your next conference:
#187// You've been dreaming about it... that Kingdom business or ministry God put on your heart. But you haven't launched it yet because you're not sure of where to start. We're gonna fix that up today, Sis!What if I told you there are 5 (yes, just 5!) basic building blocks you'll need as you launch your online business or ministry? These are the basics that are common to all successful online businesses and ministries. Are you ready to discover what they are?Even when the dream is Holy Spirit-inspired, there are some practical "first steps" needed to get you onto the launchpad for success. But maybe you've been stuck in the overwhelm of all the details:
#186// You're not for "everyone," Sister. Nobody is. So if you're trying to sell to everyone, you'll wind up selling to no one. It's powerful to be able to identify and speak directly to the ones God has called you to serve. As you're out here building big and beautiful things with and for God, it is so important to know WHO you're called to serve through your business or ministry. God put the idea in your heart, and He's giving you the grace to do #allthethings, but He also wants to help you get particularly focused on the people you're meant to be serving. The facts, features and specs you share with people about the product or service you offer may give them loads of information. But guess what. Facts don't sell. You know what does? STORIES! When you talk to the person you're sent to serve in "their language," addressing the question they're always "kinda" asking in the background -- "What's in this for me?" -- I'm telling you . . . You're going to find it so much easier to connect with people who need what you're offering. And sales will seem like a breeze! So, are you ready to discover "your person?" Are you ready to dial in what you offer and how you talk about it so folks find you, get excited about your solution and buy or donate with joy and expectation? On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper Podcast, I've got a simple (yet powerful) 10-question survey that'll help you get you get clear on your ideal "person" in NO time, so your "anointed offer" gets in front of the right person on repeat! #185// Stuck in the "buffer zone," Sis? Dreaming, visioning, planning, researching... on repeat. It's time to get you FREE of this cycle and MOVE forward! We both know you're called to do big and beautiful things with and for God, right? But somehow we find ourselves getting caught in a cycle of dreaming and visioning on repeat without ever really moving into the DOING. #184// Yes, you CAN do #allthethings in Christ Jesus! You've been sold a lie that you can't "do it all," Sister. Over probably the last eight or ten years, popular media has repeatedly tried to tell us (because of burnout): "You've got to pick one thing and let go of the rest. You need to create more margin in your life."But what if I told you that in believing the lie of “I can't do it all” you've actually pushed off parts of your God-given identity and diminished parts of your purpose in the earth? That's a SELAH moment, Sister. As a faith-filled, ambitious, multi-passionate Jesus Girl, you are called to be a modern Proverbs 31 woman, and there is a grace found in God that can create a flow and cadence for your life. This grace will sustain you, carry you forward, and make you able to “do it all” in Christ Jesus. Wondering about the HOW? Here's your winning strategy, Friend:1️⃣ REPENT and BELIEVE Philippians 4:13 (grab that verse below and make it your daily declaration).2️⃣ GIVE GOD FIRST PLACE every morning. Start and end your day with Him, allowing Him to set your cadence in the morning and receive your gratitude in the evening.3️⃣ PLAN YOUR DAY with God. Allow Him to inform you of the important things for each day. This will greatly reduce stress and increase your success. If you know you're a Proverbs 31 woman who wants to reduce overwhelm, increase peaceful productivity and fulfillment in the fullness of your purpose, but you're needing a little help in the HOW of getting there, then this episode is for you, Sister. You need to know in the depths of you that God has created you for specific works and you CAN be and do every single thing He's created you for! If you need a little help picking up that truth... Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!LISTEN WITH THE SHOW NOTES: Head over to ericapyle.com/184 to grab the show notes which include the scriptures mentioned in the episode as well as links to resources and tools to help you apply the session to your life this week!NEED A DAILY STRATEGY TO DO #ALLTHETHINGS? #181// You don't have to worry about how you're going to pay for the vision and assignment that God has given you!Listen, Sister . . . God actually cares about resourcing you for the assignment He's given you more than you do. True story! All you need to do is concern yourself with the receipt, belief, and obedience to the call. The main reason given by most of the women I coach for why they didn't "go for it" in business or ministry sooner is this: They had a paralyzing fear around money and provision. Most felt they couldn't get into motion until they had a firm grasp on how it was all going to get funded and resourced. But did you know that's not how it works in the Kingdom? So much of Kingdom living is trusting God at His word, stepping out on that word and then seeing Him provide as we move in obedience. Is your mindset around money holding you back from starting that business or ministry God has been calling you into? If so, it's okay to decide that now is the time to lean in and believe God at His word FIRST and get your mindset straight, and then ask questions about the how (including how to resource the vision). That's why on this week's episode, I'm sharing the money mindset you need to have in order to BOLDLY begin that "thing" God has been talking to you about. If you're a Jesus girl who's got it in her heart to make BIG moves with the Lord, but you've been stuck in fear around your resources and provision, this episode is for you, Sister. You need to know in the depths of you that God will provide every single resource you need to fulfill the calling on your life... just move your feet in faith! If you need a little help shifting that money mindset to the abundant mind of Christ... Grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!LISTEN WITH THE SHOW NOTES: Head over to ericapyle.com/181 to grab the show notes which include the scriptures mentioned in the episode as well as links to resources and tools to help you apply the session to your life this week!LOOKING TO UPGRADE YOUR MINDSET AROUND MONEY? #179// If God has called you to do something, choose to believe you're the one for the job and act accordingly. His calling is what qualifies you, Sis.As an ambitious, multi-passionate, do-all-the-things, Jesus Girl you know that you have an assignment on your life... but have you found yourself questioning your purpose or the direction God is leading you in?
#178// If you know you're an ambitious, multi-passionate, do all the things, Jesus Girl who knows it's time to (finally!) launch and build that Kingdom business or ministry, this live session is for YOU!We're going into a new season of The Positioned to Prosper Podcast and I'm excited to share where we're headed! Ready to know where we're going?
#165// It's Not Enough to Have a Vision.I know, I KNOW! I'm the girl who's always telling you how VITAL it is to have a Word from the Lord. To have the revelation and the download written down so you KNOW where you're headed (you go where you're looking, Sis!). I mean, we quote Habakkuk 2 around here a LOT! But still, I'm here to tell you that having the vision, though important, is NOT enough.Neither is effort. Doing lots of "busy things" in the hopes it'll produce is just going to wear you out. Overwhelm lies in wait for you down this road, my friend. No, what you need is a *winning strategy,* preferably from the Lord, that aligns with HIs word and promise over your life. And that's not just my opinion. You know we're going to look at the Good Book . . . When we look at people like Gideon, Joshua, Joseph (Mary's eventual husband) and Moses, we find God gave them more than just a vision or a revelation to get them where they needed to go. He also gave them each a strategy that contained three very specific components. And I want you to know, when God gives YOU a winning strategy to build the vision He's called you into, that strategy will likely have these three components in it, too.On this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast, I'm sharing those very specific, three components that tend to show up inside every winning God-strategy we're given. If you're looking to build something big and beautiful to the glory of God in this season, you're going to need a winning strategy with these three things built in. If you're ready to learn what they are, and how to implement them with excellence in this season, grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!LISTEN WITH THE SHOW NOTES: Head over to ericapyle.com/165 to grab the show notes which include the scriptures mentioned in the episode as well as links to resources and tools to help you apply the session to your life this week!NEED A WINNING STRATEGY FOR WHAT YOU'RE BUILDING RIGHT NOW? She's been featured on podcasts and many (live) stages throughout Canada and the US, encouraging women and making them laugh until they pee just a little. As we navigate the winding roads of life, there are times when we get caught in a storm of shame. This episode provides a beacon of hope in that dark territory. Our guest, Tess Scott, sheds light on her journey from societal outcast to finding solace in Jesus. She shares the strategies she used to conquer the shame of multiple divorces and remarriages, allowing us to understand that we, too, can harness the power of God, even in our moments of brokenness and imperfection.Let's face it, in the tug-of-war between God's truth and the enemy's lies, the battlefield is our mind. But what if we could tip the scales in our favor? Tess instructs us on the importance of filling our minds with God's word, the ultimate truth. She points to the discernment of biblical truths from toxic affirmations, fuelling our journey in overcoming the enemy's deceit. This journey is not a solitary one. Together, we speak God's truth, we claim his victory, and we deny the enemy a foothold in our lives.Life, they say, is a journey best shared. Tess illustrates the significance of genuine relationships and the accountability they bring. She shows how these relationships are a safe space where we can eliminate shame and guilt, where we can be reminded that we are not defined by our past but by God's grace. Alongside these, Tess emphasizes the power of forgiveness and the healing it brings. It's time to stop navigating life on our own. We are all on this journey together, bound by a common thread of beautifully flawed lives seeking God's grace. Let's take this journey together, one footstep at a time.Meet Tess: Tess Scott is a Christian speaker, an award-winning author, and a former black sheep turned “Jesus Girl.” With humor and vulnerability, this Canadian mom of 8 has lived through multiple divorces, married her husband twice, and raised a whole brood of boys which only goes to prove God is full of grace and mercy. Tess Scott is on a mission to help other women with messy stories to shed their shame by teaching them who they are in Christ so they can embrace the power of God in their imperfect lives. Tess Scott is my cup of tea. She uses her humor and wittiness to share her past of being married multiple times and twice to the same man. Here's the thing: though we ALL have a history, and we ALL have done things we regret, the beauty of it is Christ still loves us and meets us where we are. In this episode, hear Tess explain the nitty gritty of her life as a freak show and how she has navigated through the mess. Tess Scott Listen, Sister! Ministry. Discover the power of the Go-Getter Jesus Girl. Dive into her book, embrace faith, and unleash your potential. Get motivated and pursue your dreams with unwavering determination. From Project Management to Empowering Christian Communicators In this insightful interview, we have the pleasure of chatting with Christa Hutchins, a project manager in the engineering and construction industry who is also passionate about helping Christian communicators, speakers, writers, and podcasters bring their big ideas to life. Christa shares her journey, the importance of having a plan, and the inspiration behind her book, "Moving Forward: Inspiration for the Go-Getter Jesus Girl." Join us as we delve into Christa's story and discover practical strategies for success. Finding Purpose in a New Season As Christa faced the transition into her empty nest years, she sought to discover her new purpose. Despite her background in a male-dominated field, she felt led to volunteer as a small group leader for Proverbs 31 Ministries' online Bible studies. This unexpected opportunity introduced her to authors, writers, and dreamers who struggled with implementing their ideas effectively. Recognizing the value of her project management skills, Christa realized she could help these individuals find clarity and take actionable steps toward their goals. The Power of Isaiah 43:19: Embracing her newfound calling, Christa founded "Do a New Thing" based on Isaiah 43:19, which says, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" This verse resonated with her personal and professional journey. As she encountered a career wasteland and toxic work environment, Christa found solace in the promise that God was doing something new. With her business, she now helps other women navigate their own wildernesses of confusion, doubt, and imposter syndrome. The Importance of Having a Plan Christa emphasizes the significance of having a plan in order to maintain balance and productivity. Without a plan, she noticed a tendency to either overwork or underwork. Through weekly planning sessions, she ensures she knows what needs to be done and can work efficiently without feeling overwhelmed. This habit provides structure, motivation, and the ability to take deliberate steps toward fulfilling her goals. Inspiration for the Go-Getter Jesus Girl Christa's desire to bridge the gap between scripture and practical application led her to write her book, "Moving Forward: Inspiration for the Go-Getter Jesus Girl." Drawing from her workshops and group teachings, the book offers 28 short, inspirational chapters categorized into four sections: dream a dream, find your people, make a plan, and do the thing. By exploring familiar stories and figures from the Bible, Christa encourages readers to uncover strategic lessons and apply them to their daily lives, businesses, and ministries. Empowerment and Inspiration for Christian Communicators Christa Hutchins exemplifies the power of embracing new seasons and using one's skills to serve others. She empowers Christian communicators to transform their big ideas into successful ministries and businesses through her project management expertise and passion for the Bible. By sharing her story and writing her book, Christa inspires readers to find practical applications of scripture in their personal, professional, and ministry lives. Her dedication to making a difference is a shining example for all aspiring leaders to follow. Listen, Sister! Embrace Imperfection with Tess Scott My heart has been so encouraged by my guest, Tess Scott. I love, love, love how she embraces her imperfections. Tess is the founder of Listen Sister, a ministry with a focus on encouraging women through what she calls, the freakshow of life. Using her message of encouragement Tess has written a book titled, Listen Sister! Finding Hope in the Freakshow of Life. I am always in awe of women who have the ability to make peace with their imperfections. They're able to fold all of their failures and embarrassing moments into the storyline of their life. In her book, that's exactly what Tess does. She shares real stories that are simple, everyday life experiences, good and bad, embarrassing, empowering and she reveals the beauty in the ordinary. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe and you'll leave with your heart having experienced a deeper revelation of God's goodness. What an interesting life Tess has lived and we touched on a little bit of each phase. Tess says she's the black sheep turned Jesus girl. She has 8 children ....all boys....8 boys.....I even tell her I wouldn't want to clean that bathroom! She's been married 4 times, two of which were to the same man. God reunites her with her husband (in her fourth marriage), and all seems like it's back on track and then she's diagnosed with breast cancer. So instead of a romantic new marriage they begin going to the cancer hospital, visits, radiation, mastectomy. It might be hard to imagine but her complicated life story is full of God's extravagant grace, and mercy. I hoping that all who have the opportunity to read her book, listen to her wherever she speaks or follow her on social media will adapt her attitude about life's challenges and maybe borrow her courage if they need to in order to heal and move past their regrets and shame. The courage it takes to share the embarrassing aspects of your life is one thing but to share the things that were your fault....I don't know about you but that would be a hard one for me. To expose my shame and regret to strangers feels like I'm opening myself up to personal attacks. Maybe it's my background, where perfection was drilled into my being as the only acceptable result ...and trust me I get it, perfection is completely unrealistic ...God has brought me through, given me healing but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that sometimes it's challenged and I have to address those thought patterns with God. So my point being, who wants to purposefully invite ridicule? But that's not how Tess sees it. The only place where we're safe to expose ourselves in that manner with regard to shame and regrets, to be laid bare and vulnerable is with Christ. Once we settle our failures and shortcomings with Him no one else's opinion has any power over us. When we've transferred the pain and struggle of failure to God, laying that burden down, submitting it to His authority it no longer has the same affect on us....it doesn't hold any power over us anymore. God will never use it against us no matter how many times me return with an apology for the same thing. He'll never reject you. He'll never leave you. The only place that we can find the power and authority to take away our sin and to embrace a forgiveness that allows us to lift our heads under the weight of our decisions and to experience restoration is at the foot of the cross. Don't hesitate to lay your imperfections at the feet of Jesus. His blood on the cross is still as fresh for us today as it was over 2000 years ago. While we're still alive we have an opportunity to seek God's heart and find out what it means to walk in the freedom of who He is and what He's done. It's an incredible place to do life from. Listen in as Tess shares her wit, failures and the beauty of who Christ is in the freakshow of life! In her own words I've lived through multiple divorces, married my husband twice and raised a brood of boys which only goes to prove God is full of grace and mercy. As a former black sheep turned “Jesus girl”, my redeemed life screams of the prodigal daughter unmistakably chosen. And it's this hope, this story of redemption and God's indisputable faithfulness that I bring to encourage women. My first book “Listen,Sister! I’m Doug Apple...and my heart is on fire. (Luke 24:32) Cindy’s fiancé died in a workplace accident. She was a dedicated Christian, but the loss was immense. Her family was worried about her and how she would cope. In her B.C. life, Before Christ, she relied on cocaine. Now that life was in the past. Or was it? One night the pain was so great, she picked up the phone and called her former drug dealer. He said, “Wait a minute. I thought you were some kind of ‘Jesus Girl’ now. I’m not selling to you.” She said, “Look, I’ve got cash. You’ve got drugs. This is how it works.” He said, “Did you know that your dad threatened anyone who ever sold you drugs again?” She did not know that. Then he said, “Cindy, what you need to do right now is get down on your knees and ask God to help you.” She said, “You’re a drug dealer. What are you doing, telling me to pray?” She hung up the phone, more determined than ever, and walked out the door to go find some drugs wherever she could. What she didn’t know was that God was working behind the scenes. Earlier that evening, Cindy’s friend was across town, praying. Then her friend felt like God was telling her to do something kind of weird. In her prayer time, God told her that she needed to go spend the night with Cindy. So she packed up her pajamas, her sleeping bag and a pillow and headed over there. Right when Cindy was walking out the door, determined to hit the street and find some drugs, there was her friend, walking up the sidewalk, ready to spend the night, not even knowing that Cindy was right on the verge of a great fall. God sent a friend to help Cindy right at her time of great need. Who is God sending you to today? May God bless you today. I’m Doug Apple. *This testimony is included in a GriefShare video, and you can find out more about GriefShare here: https://www.griefshare.org/
It's my 35th birthday and I am so grateful for life and happy to be celebrating with my family this year. On the podcast this week, I am doing a very transparent solo episode on 5 money lessons I've learned and I believe you should learn too. Money topics are never easy for me to talk about, and it feels a bit taboo, but I am learning to grow in an area you have to be willing to have hard conversations and be willing to learn. I pray that you will be inspired by my "rant" as I am purposefully walking on this new financial journey to true wealth as an ambitious Jesus Girl. Remember God is so faithful and its never too late to start a new journey in any area of your life! A small community can be a powerful catalyst for your business or ministry. But is your small thinking keeping your community small? In this episode, we'll look at three myths about community that result from small thinking, and bust them by looking at community in the early church. The #toughgrace truth is that you can't depend on Google, or social media, or Pinterest to get your great idea in front of people who are going to snap it up. It doesn't happen that way. You need a following that is going to actually see your offer. And here's a little secret ... if you've built an engaged community, instead of just a following, you can have successful offers without a huge audience. An example of this is my friend Eva Kubasiak, who said on a recent bonus episode that she made her first $1000 when she had less than 1000 followers. Listen to the bonus episode with Eva here. But just because your community starts small doesn't mean it is best for it to stay small. Throughout this series, we've been looking back at the early church in Acts chapter 2, where it says: “All the believers were together and had everything in common. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” This verse gives us a basis to address some of the biggest myths about building a community. Let's see if you have heard or believed any of these myths.1. Community only happens in private groups2. Community only happens in small groups3. Community only happens with high-maintenance effortThese three myths have a common theme ...they are based on small, closed thinking centered on a personality, rather than open, expansive thinking centered on common goals, passions, ideals and messages.ACTION STEPDive into your community and spend time with them. Whether it's in the comments of your public social media posts, your private group, or in your direct messages ... build those strong ties that will connect people with your message. There are two other special opportunities to learn about growing a community that buys or buys in. Check out the Christian Woman Business podcast with Esther Littlefield, starting at episode 57. And as part of this series on building community, I'm releasing a bonus episodes with some of my friends about how they built communities around their message on different platforms. The next one is with Wren Robbins, who shares how she has built a community through podcasting. You'll be encouraged by our conversation, so be sure to follow the podcast where ever you listen so you don't miss it.RESOURCES Esther Littlefield and I have a new resource coming to help you build a community that buys. Has someone ever told you that your platform is not big enough for them to work with you? Episode 34 of Just One Simple Thing kicks off a series on building a community instead of a platform. In this episode, you'll learn three things I love about about building a community, and why I'm okay if I never have a platform that impresses a publisher. If you are trying to build a ministry or a business online, at some point, someone has probably told you that you need to build your platform. I've talked to many writers, podcasters and business owners who have been deflated by the dreaded “p” word.A “platform”refers to an established media forum where an author or speaker connects with their audience. It could be a blog, a podcast, a YouTube channel, TV or radio program, social media, or newsletter, or a combination of all of them ... where ever your audience finds your content. And of course, the bigger the better. But what if you don't have a big platform? Does that mean your dream of seeing people transformed through your writing, your services or your products is dead? Not if you focus on building a community instead of a platform. My favorite verses about communities come from Acts 2: 44-46. At its heart, a community is a group of people united around a common idea or message, taking care of each other, and intentionally growing together. They are invested in each other and the success of one person in the community is celebrated by everyone. The three things I love about building a community.1. Relationships are more important than numbers. A platform is measured in quantity ... how many people are following you? A community is measured in relationships ... how deep are your connections?2. Platforms can be built on perception, but community is built on authenticity. When we feel the pressure to build a platform quickly, we often think we have to show only the Insta-perfect parts of our world. But in community, we can show up as our authentic selves. In fact, the things that make us quirky or different or a little undone are the very things that help people relate to us. It gives them that “me too” moment where they think, “If she can do it, so can I."3. A platform is something you stand on. A community is something you stand in. There is nothing like standing shoulder to shoulder with the people in your community. Community builds loyalty, trust, and bonds that will be the foundation of your ministry or business for the long haul. ACTION STEP:I have a fun This or That template you can use to see where you are on building community or a platform. Head over to my free Facebook group Plan & Pray with Do A New Thing and grab the template. Then post it in your stories on social media and tag me @doanewthing and use the hashtag #justonesimplething so I can come celebrate your community.RESOURCES:Esther Littlefield and I have a new resource coming to help you build a community that buys. #032 // Do you have a Jesus Girl Gang?Christians have been patterned to think that if we just belong to a church, read our Bible regularly and maybe just listen to a church message or two throughout the week that we're GOOD in terms of transformation, discipleship and growth. But this just isn’t true!We NEED deep and abiding relationships with people who are willing to walk through the tough stuff with us. We need to be in proximity to solid people of faith, but we also need to be willing to be authentic and appropriately vulnerable with these people while welcoming both the sharpening and the encouragement that comes from these types of transparent and vulnerable relationships. Not having a crew like this may be the very reason that transformation seems to be taking so long for you, or why you feel like you’ve been stuck in a pit and no one is hearing your cries for help. Not having a Jesus Girl Gang of your own may even be a big part of the reason why you’re not feeling motivated and hopeful about your purpose or your destiny. You might be thinking it has something to do with the timing being off, God not providing yet or your circumstances just not “lining up,” but it could simply be that you aren’t in any relationships where appropriate amounts of weight, challenge and sharpening are taking place to lead to real transformation and growth. On this episode of Positioned to Prosper we'll be talking about the What, Why and How of gathering a Jesus Girl Gang of your own. You need this, TRUST me! So, if you’re ready to learn what a Jesus Girl Gang really is (and men, this same sort of stuff applies to a Band of Mighty Men), why you need such a Gang and how to go about positioning yourself to be surrounded by the girls who are going to run with you, then I want you to grab your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!
