At 19 years young Kati Wolfgangs Aunt passed away at the age of 40 from breast cancer. It was also at this time that Kati found out that she has the same BRCA1 genetic mutation that her aunt had putting Kati at an 80% or greater chance of developing breast cancer too. After 10 years of cancer screenings every 6 months Kati made the decision to have a double mastectomy to eliminate her risk of breast cancer and should have been just one surgery. After Jay Sullivan wife Jo Ellyn passed away there was no hesitation that a foundation should be started in her honor to support those that want to go into the nursing profession as that is what she did for 41 years. Since 2017 they have been supporting those wanting to go into the nursing with scholarships. They have temporarily shifted gears and are fundraising to provide meals to front line workers and last Friday provided meals for the entire ICU team at Mass General.
