In today's episode, the two of us – Camilla and Vendela – talk about how to make decisions in life. We discuss how common it is for people to seek advice from those who haven't walked the journey themselves. When making decisions, there are only two people you should ask for advice: someone who has already done the journey or your future self, who is already living the life you want to live.If you're interested in getting support and coaching to make 2025 your best year yet, make sure to join the waitlist to Business & Dreams Academy: https://businessanddreams.typeform.com/to/D4XBjQOm You can also DM us on Instagram @businessanddreams with the word "BDA" or email us at bda@businessanddreams.com. Narcissists HATE Taking advice from you because a lot of them think they are above you. They think taking advice from you means you are above them. What's going on beautiful people, if the is your first time seeing my face or hearing my voice, my name is Lee and I am a self aware narcissist. I have narcissistic personality disorder ( NPD ) and I've been in therapy for my personality disorder since 2017 and it has definitely changed my life because without it, I would have lost everything. The point of these videos is to help bring awareness from the other side of the narcissistic *buse spectrum. All my videos give perspective on why many narcissists do what they do and the possible different reasons behind them. The victims get validation and the Narcissists get to see that you can get help and that you are not alone Website - www.mentalhealness.net Courses/Groups - https://courses.mentalhealness.net 1 on 1's and all my links - https://beacons.page/mentalhealness Self Love Journal - https://a.co/d/70L3zKb Remember, It's not your fault - https://a.co/d/2WNtdKJ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mentalhealness/support

[video available on spotify] we are all constantly receiving advice whether we asked for advice or not. we can receive advice from people that we know, like our family, friends, teachers, or bosses. we can also receive advice from less intimate sources, like random people on the internet, like me, or authors of books or writers of movies. we're constantly being thrown advice from all angles, and as a result, we're constantly sorting through advice deciding what the fuck to do with it. and a lot of that happens subconsciously because the giving and receiving of advice is such an automatic part of interacting as a human being. there are a lot of variables when it comes to this type of social interaction, but today i wanna zoom in on a specific type of advice interaction. A Replay Podcast about how we SHOULD be taking advice and applying it through our actions.
Should you be taking advice from just about everyone? In this solo episode of Habits & Hustle, I chat about the current phenomenon on social media where it seems like just about everyone is an expert on something and giving advice on the said subject of expertise. While some advice may be good, the reality is that not everyone who is giving out advice is qualified to do it and not every piece of advice you hear is advice you should follow. What we discuss: 01:25: Is it possible for everyone to be an expert? 03:23: Where should you seek advice? 09:27: What's the problem with experts on social media? 12:20: Are real experts really on social media? 17:33: What is Schadenfreude? Israel Isaac shares his TAYLOR'D TAKES on: his evolution becoming the person he desired unifying lives he tried to keep separate until touching down in LA the reality TV phenomenon that continues to take over our social feeds - SCANDOVAL filming Vanderpump Rules and his relationships with castmates not taking advice from people he doesn't admire the origin behind the lyrics of his single Can I Be Me With You uniforms at Schwartz & Sandy's and being expressive through fashion inspiring others to accept themselves and be the person they desire his powerful mantras like ‘friends over fans' and ‘significance over success', and so much more! Taylor met Israel a few months ago in LA and was immediately drawn to his larger than life personality, conviction and contagious laugh. Let Taylor know your takeaway from the episode by writing a review and rating the podcast! "When I touched down in LA, I was adamant about loving myself and help others see that they can also be themselves. Go all the way with becoming who you desire to be. Don't let anyone shun you from being your most authentic self. I posted a picture of me in this blue dress and it blew up. And so that began the journey of me asking myself, ‘What's it like being a Black queer Christian?' These were lives I tried to keep separate. The more I accepted myself, the more the world accepted me. I want to inspire people and if people feel inspired by me, I feel like I've won.” - Israel Isaac

Sometimes, the worst advice comes from the most well-intentioned people in our lives. I don't know about you, but I've definitely given and received lots of bad advice over the years. Today we're considering King David's model for giving advice, which is simply pointing people to the Lord through our words and actions. In Psalm 31, David advises that in life's very hardest places we are to love the Lord and put our hope and trust in him. Plain and simple. Let's pray this week that we learn to use discretion in whom we allow to speak into our own lives and the lives of our families. Let's also pray that our kids only take advice from those who have prayed about it, searched Scripture, and ultimately point them back to Jesus. Talk less, pray more. Seems like the next right step. Can't wait to be with you this week! P.S. We would be so grateful if you'd consider sharing Pardon the Mess with a friend. Encourage those you know and love to join us in praying each week by forwarding this email or sending a link to the show. Thank you! Pardon the Mess is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network. To find practical and spiritual advice to help you grow into the parent you want to be visit www.ChristianParenting.org
Who do you go to when you don't know what to do? It's not uncommon for us to look outside of ourselves for advice. But what happens if the advice that you are given doesn't feel good to you? Do you preserver and do what someone else tells you to do? Or do you keep asking questions? It's time to bring your happiness, power, and ownership back inside you! This isn't about bringing 100% independence. This is about knowing WHO YOU ARE! In this episode, Melissa and Sara talk about some 'good advice' given to them, the conflict it caused, and how they overcame it. Being authentic and not following the crowd is one of the main secrets to my success. I know we all love friends and community and being around people, but thats the exact formula which can also make you lose yourself if you have not done the work on yourself to heal from what hurt you and overcome your limiting beliefs. The other secret is to make sure you have a coach or mentor who has what you want and you are able to learn from them. Many of us are taking advice from people who have not been where we want to go and thats another reason why you are stuck and not winning in life! It's the end of 2022 and at the start i said that it was going to be the best year of my life! So i invite you to take action also and show up with me! Lets do this together! If you are wanted to learn to love yourself, build self confidence or maybe you are stuck and you have not grown in the last 6 to 12 months, then send me a DM on instagram "I AM READY TO GROW" and ill give you more info on how you can transform your life and make sure that 2023 is a year that you absolutely crush! Ep #163 - You seek advice from people. That is something we as humans do as a habit. The issue you might be finding yourself in is that those you seek advice from may not be un-biased advisors. They have their own experiences, filters, and reasons for giving you the advice they do. In fact, it's going to be very difficult for you to sift through the various opinions you receive when you go asking for advice. Your parents, partner, besties, class-mates, co-workers, preacher, teachers - I mean, even the cashier has their reasons for giving you the advice they do. Your mindfulness around who you are going to for help is critical in deducing if the advice they give you is in your best interest or in theirs. They have motives. They have their interests in mind too. Not every time but its going to be happening far more frequently than you anticipate or even imagine. Check out this week's episode so your awareness around who you are taking advice from, and what their intentions might be, are at least part of your filtration process when gathering opinions before you make your decision. Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now. It is time. It has been time. To live is to shine. Step into the SUN. Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you. Welcome to another episode of The Tim Ferriss Show, where it is my job to deconstruct world-class performers to tease out the routines, habits, et cetera that you can apply to your own life. This is a special inbetweenisode, which serves as a recap of the episodes from last month. It features a short clip from each conversation in one place so you can easily jump around to get a feel for the episode and guest.Based on your feedback, this format has been tweaked and improved since the first recap episode. For instance, @hypersundays on Twitter suggested that the bios for each guest can slow the momentum, so we moved all the bios to the end. See it as a teaser. Something to whet your appetite. If you like what you hear, you can of course find the full episodes at tim.blog/podcast. Please enjoy! ***This episode is brought to you by 5-Bullet Friday, my very own email newsletter that every Friday features five bullet points highlighting cool things I've found that week, including apps, books, documentaries, gadgets, albums, articles, TV shows, new hacks or tricks, and—of course—all sorts of weird stuff I've dug up from around the world. It's free, it's always going to be free, and you can subscribe now at tim.blog/friday.***Timestamps:Roelof Botha: 00:03:17Will MacAskill: 00:08:46Russ Roberts: 00:14:02Andrew Weil: 00:23:47Tim Q&A: 00:27:54Full episode titles:Roelof Botha — Investing with the Best, Ulysses Pacts, The Magic of Founder-Problem Fit, How to Use Pre-Mortems and Pre-Parades, Learning from Crucible Moments, and Daring to Dream (#618)Will MacAskill of Effective Altruism Fame — The Value of Longtermism, Tools for Beating Stress and Overwhelm, AI Scenarios, High-Impact Books, and How to Save the World and Be an Agent of Change (#612)Russ Roberts on Lessons from F.A. Welcome to another episode of The Tim Ferriss Show, where it is usually my job to sit down with world-class performers of all different types to tease out the habits, routines, favorite books, and so on that you can apply and test in your own life. This time, we have a slightly different format, and I'm the guest. As some of you know, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of The 4-Hour Workweek, which was first published on April 24th, 2007 (4/24/07), I signed 424 copies of the book. As thousands of you threw your hat in the ring to win a signed copy, I wanted to do something special for all the entrants. So, I invited those folks to a private YouTube Q&A. This episode is the recording of that session. I answered many questions on a variety of topics, including startup investments, IFS therapy, my views on wealth and money, C.S. Lewis, lower-back pain, solitary time and its challenges, lessons from Kevin Kelly, books I'm currently reading, maintaining relationships, Japan travel tips, from whom to take advice (and how to evaluate advice), self-awareness, behavior change, my current alcohol consumption (or lack thereof), and much, much more.I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.*This episode is brought to you by MANSCAPED! No, I didn't come up with that line… but I tested and loved their products, so I can vouch that I'm still intact and ready for my centerfold shoot. Was it scary? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes. My girlfriend makes the effort, so I figured it was only fair. MANSCAPED is the most effective way to keep clean, pristine, and looking like a dream through the sweatiest summer months. The Perfect Package 4.0 is the ultimate grooming kit that includes everything you need for optimal below-the waist hygiene. They add up and are one of your biggest opportunities, if not the biggest opportunity, to make a positive impact on the world. Some of the best strategies, best research, and best tactical advice I've seen and heard come from 80,000 Hours, a nonprofit co-founded by Will MacAskill, an Oxford philosopher and a popular past guest on this podcast. If you're looking to make a big change to your direction, address pressing global problems from your current job, or if you're just starting out or maybe starting a new chapter and not sure which path to pursue, 80,000 Hours can help.
