Grimsby travelled to MK Dons on Saturday knowing a point or more would keep them in the hunt for a play-off place and a hard fought draw is what they came away with. The panel begin by reviewing a largely forgettable game in front of another impressive following by the Town faithful, 2091 seeing The Mariners unable to record a shot on target despite arguably having the best chance of the game late on. The guys debate whether or not results are ultimately more important than performances at this stage of the season before having their say on the soon to be announced ‘Player of the Year' and ‘Goal of the Season' awards. In part two, Chris Draper from the ‘9 Years Podcast' joins the conversation to help preview the winner takes all showdown at Blundell Park next weekend against Wimbledon. Can either side arrest their disappointing end of season form to have a crack at the play-offs and, with a sell-out expected, will our panel manage to find tickets?+++ Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Charles Lumley, Jason Sadler and Chris DraperSubscribe to our mailing list for weekly bonus content - https://mailchi.mp/41dfa5ea31ac/view-from-the-findus Find all the latest VFTF news, archive episodes, written articles and panelist bios on our website - https://viewfromthefindus.wordpress.comFollow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.com Supported by Message in a Bottle - https://www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpes Intro / Outro music - "Fight The Feeling" by Kid Spirit. Dead and buried on Friday, back to life on Monday! It was an Easter miracle for The Mariners as they just about stayed in the hunt for a play-off place despite a thumping home defeat against Swindon and relinquishing another 2-0 lead to draw at Port Vale. The guys begin by picking the bones out of an eventful bank holiday weekend which saw two surprising performances, albeit for differing reasons. Did Town contribute to their own downfall against a strong Swindon side and how did this latest capitulation compare to the one at Harrogate just a fortnight ago? The panel then go on to discuss Jake Eastwood and Charles Vernam's recall to the starting XI at Port Vale and what impact they may have on the remainder of the season. As well as all of that we also have, not one, but two guests on this week's episode. First, stand up comedian and TV star, Ivo Graham gives his thoughts on the Swindon game before Kristine Green, Community Projects Manager of the GTFC Foundation and the first ever female board member at Blundell Park, tells us about all the good work going on behind the scenes at the club. And there might be an exciting pod announcement thrown in there as well so stay tuned…!+++ Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Sam Allen, Adam Howard, Kristine Green and Ivo Graham.Subscribe to our mailing list for weekly bonus content - https://mailchi.mp/41dfa5ea31ac/view-from-the-findus Find all the latest VFTF news, archive episodes, written articles and panelist bios on our website - https://viewfromthefindus.wordpress.comFollow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.com Supported by Message in a Bottle - https://www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpes Intro / Outro music - "Fight The Feeling" by Kid Spirit. Grimsby picked up a point at Harrogate on Saturday, but to many it felt like a defeat having lead 2-0 until the last 5 minutes of the game and to make matters worse, closest play-off rival Colchester grabbed a late win at Newport. The guys begin by discussing their disappointment at the full time whistle but the conversation quickly turns to THAT Kieran Green goal; an audacious 75 yard strike from inside his own half. The panel then debate whether or not Doug Tharme going off in the second half was the turning point in the game and whether the surprising criticism levelled at him by manager David Artell was warranted. In Part Two, Joe Acklam from the ‘Swindon Advertiser' joins the show to help preview the two games over the Easter bank holiday weekend, starting with the return of ex Mariners boss and the much maligned Ian Holloway.+++ Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Steve Young, George Mann and Joe AcklamSubscribe to our mailing list for weekly bonus content - https://mailchi.mp/41dfa5ea31ac/view-from-the-findus Find all the latest VFTF news, archive episodes, written articles and panelist bios on our website - https://viewfromthefindus.wordpress.comFollow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.com Supported by Message in a Bottle - https://www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpes Intro / Outro music - "Fight The Feeling" by Kid Spirit. Another busy week saw The Mariners remain in the play-off hunt with a defeat at fellow promotion contenders Crewe followed up by a victory over struggling Morecambe at BP. Chris, Helen and Liam begin by discussing the absence of talisman Danny Rose on Tuesday night and how his return on Saturday underlined his importance to the team. They then dissect the win over the Shrimps, the comfortable nature of the result (in the end!) and the impact of a rejuvenated Kieran Green. The other big news story coming out of the club this week was the announcement of the 25/26 season tickets and the price increase that has split opinion within the fanbase. The panellists debate the pro's and con's of the decision and speculate as to the potential fall out between the club and the Mariners Trust as a result. In Part Two Rhys Howell from The Yorkshire Post helps preview what will undoubtedly be a big game next weekend for both Grimsby and Harrogate, albeit due to differing reasons. +++ Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Helen Walker, Liam Wood and Rhys HowellSubscribe to our mailing list for weekly bonus content - https://mailchi.mp/41dfa5ea31ac/view-from-the-findus Find all the latest VFTF news, archive episodes, written articles and panelist bios on our website - https://viewfromthefindus.wordpress.comFollow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.com Supported by Message in a Bottle - https://www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpes Intro / Outro music - "Fight The Feeling" by Kid Spirit. Grimsby stole the headlines again this week with another statement win on the road, this time at fellow play-off rivals Colchester. The panel begin by reviewing a dominant display, discuss how The Mariners tenth away win was no fluke and then wonder if there are any more adjectives left out there to do George McEachran's performances this season justice? Inevitably the conversation then turns to the “P” word and just how carried away the Town faithful should be getting, though Chris might have reasons not to be as excited… It's another important week ahead for Grimsby with a tricky looking trip to 9th placed Crewe on Tuesday night ahead of a home clash with Morecambe on Saturday. And in Part Two of the show Joel Shooter from the ‘Shrimps Trust Podcast' joins the guys to help preview the latter and explain why the Lancashire club have struggled so much on and off the pitch so far this season… Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Paul Savage, Steve Claybourn and Joel Shooter.Subscribe to our mailing list for weekly bonus content - https://mailchi.mp/41dfa5ea31ac/view-from-the-findus Find all the latest VFTF news, archive episodes, written articles and panelist bios on our website - https://viewfromthefindus.wordpress.comFollow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.com Supported by Message in a Bottle - https://www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpes Intro / Outro music - "Fight The Feeling" by Kid Spirit. It was a disappointing week for the Mariners with back-to-back home defeats against Notts County and Salford bringing their unbeaten run to an abrupt end. Chris and the panel start by dissecting a sobering seven days for Town but find solace in the form of Geza David Turi's eye catching debut. They then go on to discuss the club's latest fans forum and some of the more interesting revelations from that. Spoiler alert - more ground maintenance is needed! In Part Two Newport fan Ian Street from the brilliant ‘1912 Exiles' podcast joins the show to help preview Town's next game on Saturday and were not sure what needs the rest most; the players or the pitch! Grimsby's unbeaten run extended to eight games this week with a frustrating point at home to Tranmere on Tuesday night followed up by a statement win at league leaders Walsall on Saturday. Chris, Matt and new panellist Helen discuss, among other topics, the growing positivity in the squad and fanbase, our newfound confidence and potential play-off hopes. Of course though it wouldn't be a Grimsby pod without some caution thrown in and our reliance on Danny Rose, the only fit recognised striker at present, and our continued injury frustrations are then also debated. Grimsby made it six games unbeaten this weekend notching a well deserved point at Cheltenham who, prior to the game, had been on an equally impressive run of form. Haddock was back on the menu on Saturday as Grimsby beat the Cod Army from Fleetwood 2-1 to record their fourth straight win in the league. Chris and Steve are this week joined by a guest panellist in the form of esteemed writer, poet and musician Pete Green who helps the guys discuss the battling performance and two moments of quality from George McEachran and Denver Hume that proved the difference.Inspired by Pete's writing from his teens, Chris then asks about the origin story of Cod Almighty, their time editing the fanzine for over seventeen years and stand out memories from following The Mariners home and away through the 90's and 00's. Pete then very kindly reads one of their poems, ‘The Glimpse' and introduces tonight's interlude music, ‘The Ballad of Phil Jevons'... Increasingly I get asked this question a lot in my Guardian column. Not from a financial POV but the 'should I retire and what will life be like afterwards?' question. Welcome to episode 3 in this series. It's all about a word that has rather negative associations- retirement - but after listening to this hopefully you'll look at it differently.Once upon a time when we retired was dictated by our work place and/or pensions. Or people were so exhausted by their physically demanding jobs they were totally spent by the time they got to 55. But things have changed. The state pension age has shifted upwards in the UK and for more people it's now a choice. Work can define many of us, so what happens when work stops? Chris Mills, a regular conversationalist and guest in my Guardian column, casts a beautiful new light on what retirement might look like and why we might consider it. Lots to think about here even if you're nowhere near retirement age. I hope you enjoy it!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/conversations-with-annalisa-barbieri. Hosted on Acast. Grimsby backed up their impressive win at Bromley last weekend with an equally impressive performance and result at home to Carlisle this Saturday, showing perseverance to come from behind and win 2-1. The panellists begin by discussing the growing benefits of this recent switch in formation, a dominant attacking display and stand out performer Jason Dadi Svanthorrson. They then go on to debate the controversial penalty decisions in the game, why keeping Justin Obikwu fit and playing alongside Danny Rose could prove pivotal to our chances of a play off push and salute fan favourite Kieran Green on his 100th game for the club… and his new moustache!Doncaster Rovers fan Daniel Nice joins the show in part two to help preview the Mariners trip to our local-ish rivals next Saturday and explains in detail how the South Yorkshire side have been progressing since their convincing win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Town took a much needed four points from a possible six this week scoring a last minute equaliser to draw against Gillingham at BP on Tuesday night and then securing an impressive return to winning ways on the road with a resolute 2-0 victory at Bromley on Saturday. The guys begin by telling the tale of four differing halves as the side's inconsistency within games continues but hope their show of resilience may be a catalyst for an upturn in form. They then discuss Danny Rose's unusual goal at the weekend, how he and the rest of the team potentially benefit from the latest switch back to a 3-5-2 formation and debate whether or not fans are right to question the speed of progression so far under David Artell. Latest signing and worst kept secret, Geza David Turi, is profiled before Lee Rooney from the Brunton Bugle Podcast joins the show to help preview The Mariners next game, the visit of bottom club Carlisle Utd to Blundell Park on Saturday… Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Charles Lumley, Jason Sadler and Lee Rooney. Sadly it was another away day to forget for Grimsby on Saturday as they succumbed far too easily to a struggling Barrow side. The guys begin the episode by looking back at the 3-0 defeat and try to understand why it might be going so wrong for the Mariners on the road. They then debate whether a change of formation or personnel might be the answer before discussing the recently announced new signing, Irishman Darragh Burns from MK Dons, and two outgoings from the club this week in Rekeil Pyke and youth sensation Grayson Giles. After a week off due to the postponed Notts County game the guys are fired up and ready to go and so it seems were the Grimsby players on Saturday as they raced into a 1-0 lead against Chesterfield. The panel discuss a topsy turvy game which saw the Mariners relinquish the lead later in the first half but then arguably deserve to have nicked a late winner with a spirited second half display. They then go on to speculate over the motives of that Radio Humberside interview with potential transfer target Geza David Turi, question which of the current Town squad might deserve a nine and a half year contract ala Erling Haaland's new deal and then look ahead to the Mariners trip to manager-less Barrow next weekend and the Youth Team's cup match with Tottenham on Monday night... Like many of the Town squad by all accounts, host Chris was struck down by illness last week and so there are two games for our panellists to catch up on tonight. Firstly the self-proclaimed play off battle with Crewe a week ago in which Town came up short with a 2-0 defeat and that is followed up by Saturday's disappointing loss at Ian Holloway's Swindon, and one that marked The Mariners much beleaguered ex managers 1000th career game. The guys pick the bones out of the back to back defeats and try to find perspective and context after what many described as our worst performance of the season to date. Dave Moore's recently announced retirement is then touched upon before fellow Town fan and host of the ‘Fourth Tier Fever Podcast' Jordan Richards joins the show to help preview Town's busy Christmas schedule with four games coming up in just twelve days. What a difference a fortnight makes! Since we last recorded the Mariners have finally banished their home voodoo and extended their unbeaten run on the road to seven matches. The panel begin by dissecting back to back wins in the form of a 5-2 demolishing of Accrington and a 3-0 victory at storm hit Morecambe. They look at what's made the difference in the team's performances, stand out players that have answered potential critics and whether or not they can live up to their current play off position going forward. The guys then discuss the youth team's excellent 4th Round Cup win over Premier League academy side West Ham and then preview the visit of fellow high flyers Crewe next Saturday with help from Alex Irani of the 'Railwaymen Podcast'. Buoyed by their recent unbeaten away form the Mariners returned to a wet and blustery Blundell Park on Saturday trying to end their home voodoo but sadly it remains for at least another week after a 1-0 defeat to Colchester. The panel begin by discussing the groundhog day feel to the game, our worrying lack of goals and if the formation has again become the problem. With no match preview this week the guys go on to chat about Matt Dean's recent interview with David Artell which covered a wide range of subjects on his one year anniversary as the Town boss and then discuss vice-chair Jason Stockwood temporarily stepping back from the Grimsby board whilst he stands election for the role of ‘Greater Lincolnshire Major'… just don't mention the ‘P' word. So The Mariners missed an opportunity to re-write the history books on Saturday and secure a record breaking sixth straight away win but they did at least remain unbeaten on the road with a hard fought point at Newport, remarkably our first draw of the season. The guys begin by discussing whether or not it was a point gained or two dropped, the heroics of MOTM Jordan Wright and the controversial penalty award he superbly saved. The conversation then moves on to the recent cup success of the youth team, the senior debuts for Callum Storr and Henry Brown and the exciting future of the club's academy. Journalist Jon Waldron joins the show on the half hour mark to help provide an in depth insight on Town's next opponents, Colchester United. After a week off the VFTF team return to bring you up to speed on another busy week for the Mariners. The panel begin by discussing the disappointing defeat at home to non-league Wealdstone in the FA Cup 1st Round last weekend but without wanting to dwell too much quickly move on to Grimsby's 5th consecutive away win, this time at AFC Wimbledon, the first time they've achieved such a feat since 1952! The guys dissect another battling display on the road with help from friend of the pod and Radio Humberside summariser Martin Gritton – A first clean sheet for Jordan Wright, a MOTM display from Tyrell Warren and a stereotypical poacher's finish from Danny Rose. The lads also discuss Kieran Green's impressive assist and why he is worth every penny of his contract extension and then journalist Chris Kirwan from The South Wales Argus joins the show to help preview Town's trip to Newport next Saturday. It's been another busy week for the Mariners and another week indicative of their season so far with a win on the road at Tranmere but a defeat at home to MK Dons. The panel begin by discussing a switch back to the 5-3-2 formation that has served them well previously and how it brought the best out of some players at Prenton Park but then move on to debate what might have caused another disappointing capitulation at Blundell Park, conceding twice in five minutes to surrender another lead. The lads finish part one by touching on David Artell's concerns over the BP pitch and celebrate the contract extension of Danny Rose. EFL expert Gab Sutton joins the show in part two to help the team take a look at how League Two is starting to shape up after a quarter of the games have now been played; what's impressed him about Grimsby, which clubs does he think are under and overachieving and what does he make of Ian Holloway's return to management at Swindon? The rollercoaster that has been Grimsby's season so far took a dip again this weekend as The Mariners were humbled 4-1 at home to a ruthless Walsall side. The panel look back at another disappointing capitulation and discuss the team's mentality, belief and defensive concerns. But it wasn't all doom and gloom as the guys agree an impressive first half display perhaps didn't get the rewards it deserved. They then look back at the fans forum held on Friday evening and the main talking points from that before previewing another double game week and the matches with Tranmere and MK Dons; Luke Payne from the ‘Fourth Tier Fever' Podcast providing insight on the latter. The Mariners were back on the road this weekend and back to winning ways, recording their third consecutive away win, 2-1 at Salford City. Though it wasn't the prettiest display the panellists begin by praising the dogged nature of the performance and the squad's new found ability to defend a lead. They then discuss the impact of the returning Doug Tharme, yet more injury concerns and Karl Robinson's reaction interview – was it sour grapes from a man under pressure? In the second half of the show the guys are joined by Rob from ‘The Yellow Ribbon Podcast' who helps them preview Grimsby's next game; the visit of high flying Walsall on Saturday. The Mariners this week picked up where they left off at Carlisle recording an impressive win at league leaders Gillingham on Tuesday night but were brought crashing back to earth with a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Doncaster on Saturday. The guys discuss at length the highs and lows from a week that very much encapsulates the season so far for Grimsby and then look ahead to our trip across the M62 to Salford next weekend, with the brilliant Danny Shepherd from the 'One Up Front' podcast joining the show to provide insight on the The Ammies. It was an eventful afternoon in Cumbria for the Mariners as they came back from behind twice on Saturday to record their first away win of the season and their first back to back wins in the league for 18 months. The panellist's begin by unpacking a chaotic match which included a first team debut for youth keeper Seb Auton after Jake Eastwood was stretchered off with a nasty injury and the potential physiological boost to an injury hit squad after such a milestone win. They then turn their attentions to a tough double game week ahead with a visit to top of the table Gillingham on Tuesday and home match with fellow promotion hopefuls Doncaster next weekend; Danny from The ‘Rambling Rovers' podcast answering some questions on the latter. Grimsby returned to winning ways on Saturday and it was only fitting they did with Blundell Park celebrating its 125th anniversary. The guys begin by discussing a different kind of win for the Mariners, grinding it out with only 10 men for the last 25 minutes of the game and standing resolute to record their first clean sheet of the campaign. They go on to discuss some of their favourite memories from over the years at BP and then turn their attentions to the game at Carlisle next Saturday, with guest Lee Rooney from ‘The Brunton Bugle Podcast' providing insight on Town's next opponents. Grimsby failed to carry on their unbeaten home start to the new season with Barrow inflicting a 2-1 defeat on an out of sorts Mariners side. The guys begin by trying to pin point where it went wrong for Artell's men, whether dropping keeper Jordan Wright was the correct call and whether or not fans are right to question the manager's methods. They then discuss the more positive news of new investors to the club and joke as to whether they'll be bidding on the latest Main Stand memorabilia. The show is wrapped up with a look ahead to next weekend's game against Bromley with Ravens fan Andrew Miller… Will Andy Woodman return to spoil Blundell Park's 125th birthday celebrations? The Mariners slipped to their third consecutive away defeat of the season at Chesterfield on Saturday but unusually there is still an air of optimism as our pundits set about dissecting the eventful game. They discuss Grimsby's encouraging performance, another impressive Kieran Green display and a lack of ruthlessness in both boxes. The guys then go on to chat about how Artell is seemingly getting the best out of previously written off players, Eddie the Eagle analogies for perhaps too long and then preview next weekend's Barrow game with help from Bluebirds fan Taylor Nelson… Hosted and produced by Chris Mills with guests Matt Dannatt, Adam Howard and Taylor Nelson Follow us on X or Instagram; the handle for both is @VFTFindus or get in touch with the show via email - viewfromthefindus@gmail.com Supported by Message in a Bottle - www.miabcleethorpes.net or @miabcleethorpes Intro / Outro music - "Fight The Feeling" by Kid Spirit. Very early on in my career as The Guardian's Agony Aunt the letters started coming in about family estrangements - the "should I cut X out of my life" style questions. Back then, cutting a family member out was anathema to me but over the years, i came to understand why some people sought it out. The thing is, cutting someone out is rarely the end of the problem. Sometimes it's only the beginning. In this episode I talk to long-time conversationalist psychotherapist Chris Mills about why some situations become so bad that estrangement seems like the only answer - indeed is it the only answer? What it can mean and how to try to build bridges after an estrangement (maybe one not of your making) if that's what feels right. In this episode, Chris dives into his go-to-market strategy at Wrike, and discusses how they are leveraging AI internally to become more efficient. He also discusses how their marketing strategy allows them to go after different types of companies within a very large market. Key Takeaways:Efficiency in Performance Marketing: There is no time wasted on optimizing marketing budgets to ensure each dollar spent yields a satisfactory ROI.ABM: Your ABM tactics are increasingly important for targeting enterprise clients. Start by focusing on refining your org's ICP and leveraging existing customer advocates to engage potential buyers effectively.Metrics and Measurement: It often comes down to data. Continuously monitoring key funnel metrics like lead quality, conversion rates, and cost per lead, to quickly identify and address issues and improve overall performance for your customers. Quote: “From a product perspective, we're looking at how do we leverage AI to take, in some cases, a massive amount of data that sits in our system around work and tasks and projects and things that are happening and how to use AI to help people summarize a big thread of communication and collaboration that's happened over a period of time. And using AI to use natural language to create project plans rather than creating a project plan from scratch saying, hey, I have a project to do to launch this new product in this type of market. And here's what the product consists of. Build me a project plan and it can leverage data that exists both publicly for similar types of projects, as well as within that customer's, set of historical projects. Like, how do you generate content that way, and then how do you use AI to predict risks on a project or how do you use AI to identify resources to staff on a project. So it's interesting: both our internal workers are using AI that's available to us to help us internally. And then we're also looking at our AI strategy from a product and innovation perspective and figuring out how do we make our system more powerful, more intelligent to automate some things, to help people, focus on more creative, human-centric work.” Episode Timestamps:*(12:47) - The Playbook: Chris' uncuttables*(35:51) - The Dust Up: Defining your ICP company-wide*(39:06) - Chirs' Quick Hits Sponsor:Pipeline Visionaries is brought to you by Qualified.com, the #1 Conversational Marketing platform for companies that use Salesforce and the secret weapon for pipeline pros. Why do some people find it so hard to talk about money? And whilst it's not a romantic thing to bring up it's absolutely essential if you're thinking of buying a property with someone or moving in with someone. As Chris says if it's difficult to bring up at the beginning of the relationship it's a whole lot harder to bring up at the end when things may have gone wrong.A lot of the letters I get at the Guardian are about Wills and Will disputes and whilst it's about the money, Chris and I also look into what money can stand in for, what it represents and how it can reflect the value we put (or not) on ourselves. If this episode has tempted you to get a financial advisor the please make sure whomever you deal with is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority https://register.fca.org.uk/s/.Let us know if you feel this episode has brought up any thoughts, or if you have ideas for other episodes: conversationswithannalisa@gmail.comIf you'd like to support us you can leave a one off donation here: https://supporter.acast.com/conversations-with-annalisa-barbieriIf you'd like to listen to this episode, past or future ones, ad free then consider becoming a patron on Patreon, from just £3 a month.
