Gary and Mike also explore the uneasy dance between lawmen and mobsters—a world where unexpected moments of mutual respect could coexist with threats of violence. Mike shares stories of face-to-face encounters with figures like Rusty Rastelli of the Bonanno Family, offering rare insights into how respect, fear, and human decency sometimes blurred the lines between hunter and hunted. The episode dives even deeper into the chase for Alphonse “Allie Boy” Persico of the Colombo Family. Mike recounts the painstaking hours of investigation, the calculated street-level work, and the tension that came with tracking a fugitive deeply embedded in a culture of secrecy and retribution. His personal stories illuminate how local knowledge and personal relationships can make or break a case. This conversation crosses borders, too. Mike recalls his work in Sicily, where American and Italian law enforcement collaborated to disrupt crime syndicates that spanned the Atlantic. From tense raids to split-second tactical decisions, these stories reveal the global scope of the mob and the relentless pursuit of those who hunt them. Throughout the episode, Mike doesn't shy away from the psychological cost of the job, navigating threats from criminal networks while maintaining unbreakable bonds with fellow officers. He reflects on these life-changing experiences in his book, Adapt and Overcome, which he describes as part memoir, part raw look at the human side of life on the front lines of America's war against organized crime. For true crime fans, mob history buffs, or anyone fascinated by the delicate balance of law enforcement in high-risk territory, this episode is packed with vivid stories and personal reflections that remind us what it truly takes to track—and confront—the mob.
This week Justin welcomes Dr. Luca Trenta. Luca is an associate professor in international relations at Swansea University in Wales, and is a fellow of the Royal Historical Society and of the Higher Education Academy. He's written extensively on covert action and assassination as tools of foreign policy. He's the host of the Out of the Shadows Podcast with nine episodes available now, and he has appeared on four episodes of the Secret Wars Uncovered series on the History Channel. This is Lucas's second appearance on the podcast. Today, he's back to discuss his research into the effects of covert action on the relationship between the US executive and legislative branches, specifically as it applies to Operation PB Success, the overthrow of the Guatemalan government in 1954. PB Success took place during what could be called the Golden Age of Intelligence Operations, which also coincided with very little formal oversight by Congress. Sally Smith discusses with Ivan six things which should be better known. Sally Smith spent all her working life as a barrister and later KC in the Inner Temple. After writing a biography of the Edwardian barrister Sir Edward Marshall Hall KC, she retired from the bar to write full time. A Case of Mice and Murder, her first novel, was inspired by the historic surroundings of the Inner Temple in which she still lives and works and was the first in a series starring the reluctant sleuth Sir Gabriel Ward KC. A Case of Mice and Murder was longlisted for the 2025 CWA Whodunnit and Historical Daggers. For over 40 years, Helena Bonham Carter has delighted us with roles including Lucy Honeychurch in Room with a View, Princess Margaret in The Crown and Harry Potter's much-loved villain, Bellatrix Lestrange. She joined Nuala McGovern to discuss her latest role in new film, Four Letters of Love, based on the bestselling book of the same name. Eight babies have been born in the UK using genetic material from three people to prevent devastating and often fatal conditions. The method, pioneered by UK scientists, combines the egg and sperm from a mum and dad with a second egg from a donor woman. The technique has been legal in the UK for a decade but this is the first proof it is leading to children born free of incurable mitochondrial disease, which is normally passed from mother to child. Anita Rani was joined by Kat Kitto who has two daughters, one of whom has mitochondrial disease, and Louise Hyslop, consultant embryologist at the Newcastle Fertility Centre to discuss.A new report by London's Victims' Commissioner, Claire Waxman, says that victims are being forced to quit the criminal justice system in huge numbers amid record court delays and traumatic process. She joined Nuala to explain why they are saying 'there is a near total failure in seeing offenders brought to justice', especially when it comes to female victims of violence. In the second part of our series about women and gaming, we find out more about the impact gaming can have on women's lives. Nuala heads to the Virgin Media Gamepad at the O2 to meet some of the women from the Black Girl Gamers community, who have over 10,000 members around the world. The bestselling author Louise Candlish joined Anita to talk about her latest novel - A Neighbour's Guide to Murder - which explores the practice of sex for rent and a trial by social media. The American jazz singer Samara Joy has five Grammy awards to her name and is quickly gaining superstar status in the jazz world. She is making her debut at the BBC Proms tonight, where she will be backed by the BBC Concert Orchestra, in a special tribute to the Great American Songbook. The Prom will be also be live on Radio 3, on BBC Four and iPlayer.Presenter: Anita Rani Producer: Annette Wells Editor: Deiniol Buxton

Brian approaches the case like a detective on a cold trail: revisiting the timeline, scrutinizing law enforcement's shifting strategy, and examining what's been revealed—and what's been redacted. Dani peels back the emotional and psychological layers, exploring trauma, fear, and how this case embedded itself in the soul of an entire community. From the chilling Snapchat video to the strange behavior of the suspect now in custody, we go beyond the known facts and push into the uncomfortable space between justice and uncertainty. This isn't just about who did it. It's about how it happened, why it took so long, and what it says about the systems we trust to protect us.Expect sharp contrast, raw insight, and a few tough questions that still haven't been answered.Whether you've followed this case from day one or you're stepping onto that bridge for the first time, this episode of The Guilty Files: ReVisited delivers what we do best—depth, duality, and discussion that doesn't flinch.
Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm honored to have back on the show once again: Podcast Regular, United Church Minister turned whistleblower, Canadian Hero, humanitarian, father of two, published writer and author, public speaker and podcaster, documentary filmmaker, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, co-founder of the International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State, righteous soul, and Eagle Strong Voice: Kevin AnnettIn case you missed any of Kevin's past episodes or our ‘Movie Night' feature where we aired his acclaimed documentary, ‘Unrepentant' on this channel, here is a brief intro to his testimony and background along with some information on what we will be talking about today: Kevin's early life was shaped by compassion and a call to serve as a United Church minister in Port Alberni, British Columbia, in the early 1990s. There, Indigenous survivors of Canada's residential schools revealed a hidden genocide - abuse, forced sterilizations, and child deaths orchestrated by church and state. Kevin's refusal to stay silent led to his 1997 defrocking, a historic first for political reasons. Undeterred, he documented survivors' stories and produced the 2006 documentary Unrepentant, which exposed these atrocities and helped prompt Canada's 2008 apology to Indigenous survivors. His investigations reached global elites, including the Vatican, leading him to co-found the International Tribunal into Crimes of Church and State in 2010. His work with the International Common Law Court of Justice contributed to Pope Benedict XVI's 2013 resignation, a historic event linked to allegations of church crimes. Despite facing smear campaigns, death threats, and blacklisting, Kevin has earned Nobel Peace Prize nominations for his relentless pursuit of justice.Through his radio program Here We Stand and the Republic of Kanata, a movement for self-governance under common law, Kevin has inspired thousands to reject centralized power. His tireless advocacy, from Indigenous communities to international tribunals, amplifies the marginalized and challenges the powerful.Kevin life is a testament to the power of one individual to ignite change. From a small church in Port Alberni to the global stage, he has exposed truths that shook empires and inspired a movement for sovereignty. As Kevin continues to lead by example, his story reminds us that courage, truth, and solidarity can dismantle even the most entrenched systems of oppression. In a world hungry for freedom, Kevin stands as a beacon, showing us how to govern ourselves - and build a future worthy of our highest aspirations.CONNECT WITH KEVIN:Email: angelfire101@protonmail.comPhone: 289-680-8724Websites:-Republic of Kanata: https://republicofkanata.org/-Radio Free Kanata: https://bbsradio.com/radiofreekanata-'Murder by Decree' & other books published by Kevin: https://murderbydecree.com/#books-'Unrepentant' Documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Czej73SfYJcCONNECT WITH THE IMAGINATION:EMAIL: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comMy Substack: https://emmakatherine.substack.com/BUY ME A COFFEE: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/theimaginationAll links: https://direct.me/theimaginationpodcastRIFE TECHNOLOGIES:Support the show
Judge Steven Hippler issued an order lifting the gag order in the Bryan Kohberger case, stating that its original purpose—to protect Kohberger's right to a fair trial—was no longer valid following his guilty plea. With no jury trial forthcoming, the judge determined that the restrictions on speech could no longer be justified. He emphasized that lifting the gag order did not force any party to speak but simply restored their First Amendment right to do so if they chose. The order acknowledged the public's strong interest in transparency and access to information now that the criminal case had effectively moved past the trial phase.Despite objections from Kohberger's defense, who argued that media attention could influence the sentencing phase, the judge made clear that such publicity was inevitable regardless of the gag order's status. He dismissed the notion that continuing to silence participants would shield the process from public scrutiny. However, the judge declined to immediately unseal the more than 240 court filings that remain sealed in the case, saying he would review them individually after the upcoming sentencing hearing. The decision marks a shift toward greater openness in one of the most closely watched murder cases in recent memory.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Prosecutors reverse position on gag order after Kohberger murder confession | Fox News

This week we literally cannot get over the gaslighting that's happening with Jeffrey Epstein. Tin foil hats are staying on until further notice. We also dive into the Annabelle doll haunting (and…murder??), a man begging to be cursed by satanists and witches, a Christmas present that ended up being a severed toe, and a TikTok cult growing in real time. Like we said…tin foil hats ON.
On Friday, December 12, 1980 at approximately 6:45 in the morning, the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department got a call about a female body lying on the side of Highway 181, just south of Highway 158. The woman was dressed in a striped red colored dress and velveteen jacket and was five foot five. She weighed around 115 pounds. It wasn’t hard to figure out the cause of death. Barbara had massive holes blown into her body by a shotgun. The shots were so violent that pieces of her hair and skull were found 20 feet away. And...there were suspicions that a police officer may have been involved. Timestamps: (7:58) - Stockdale Family In 2008, the Stockdale family from Ohio appeared on the reality TV show ‘Wife Swap.' Kathy and Timothy Stockdale were raising their four sons in a very strict, conservative manner. This is an excerpt from the family manual Kathy prepared for ‘Wife Swap.' We moved to the country to get the boys away from the city. Our children are being raised away from violent language, sexual influences, drinking, smoking, drugs, rap music all the things we left behind in the city. Instead we are raising our children on a diet of wholesome activities and farm work; keeping their minds pure and their bodies healthy and keeping out the influences of modern society. That is why we home-school. By 2017, two of the children remained in the family home - Jacob and James. One day that year, while Timothy was at work, Jacob fatally shot his brother James and his mother Kathy. He then attempted to take his own life by shooting himself in the head. He survived and was hospitalised for many months. After he recovered, Jacob was charged with the murders of his mother and brother. No motive for the killings has ever been revealed. In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the murder/suicide involving the Stockdale family from ‘Wife Swap.' We're on our break, so enjoy this release of an episode from 2022, originally released exclusively on our Patreon! This is the true story behind the 2012 Richard Linklater movie, Bernie, starring Jack Black, Shirley McClaine, and Matthew McConaughey. It's about an assistant funeral director, Bernie Tiede, who everyone in town loves, and who befriends a rich, elderly widow named Marjorie Nugent, who nobody likes. Marjorie becomes more and more controlling and more demanding, and Bernie goes to extreme lengths to get out from under her grasp. It's described as a black comedy, of course with Jack Black at the helm, but after hearing more of the details of the case, it left people wondering: was the real Bernie Tiede the doting saint he was portrayed to be, or a conniving con man? Prosecutors allege he staged a carefully calculated plot, researching lethal substances and ordering poison online while pretending to be a loving husband and father. The case has only gotten darker, with shocking text messages, alleged affairs, and claims of a murder-for-hire plot surfacing as key evidence. James' trial started on July 15, 2025 with opening statements. We hope all our Creeps and Peeper are also unsettled by our tales this week. Dan starts off in North Carolina with a story about a man who tried to transform into an actual demon. And some think he was, in a way, successful. Then, his second tale is the story of some of the residents of a housing development outside of Houston, built on a forgotten cemetery, who claim that the spirits of those whose remains were disrespected were both awakened and angered by the destruction of their final resting place. Lynze has three stories today! Her first also takes us to Texas where a strange situation occurs with a neighbor. Then, a woman traveling alone has the creepiest taxi ride to her hotel. Lastly, a young boy runs into the former owner of his Grandmother's home. Scared To Death Merch: Exciting new merch is up in the store! On June 6, 1986, a single mom of three awakes to find her 4-year-old daughter has been abducted from her bed near Lexington, South Carolina. The family is desperate to find her. The girl's sister tells law enforcement she saw a man in a ‘magic hat' carry her sister out the window. However, there is no sign of the youngster. The days, weeks, months, and years pass without answers as the missing girl's mother battles racism, corruption, and a bungled police investigation that ignores key evidence. Finally, decades after the abduction, and with the involvement of a private investigator, an arrest is made. The young girl's family is entirely unsurprised at the perpetrator's identity - it was someone they suspected all along. In episode 360, Jac and Alexis detail the heartbreaking abduction and murder of Jessica Gutierrez at the hands of Thomas Eric McDowell, and the importance of law enforcement listening to families, instead of stonewalling them.
Maurice – or Melissa, as they sometimes introduced themselves – was 22 when they were shot and killed in Phoenix, Arizona. They were just starting to build a name for themselves as a performer, making it to the regional final for American Idol and acting in dozens of local productions, including The Wiz, Westside Story, and Alice in Wonderland. But the curtain fell too soon…According to friends and family, gender identity was fluid for Maurice. They sometimes presented as femme and went by Melissa, as they did the night of the shooting. This led both LGBTQ+ activists and local officials to fear that maybe this was a hate crime. Maybe… But investigators have struggled to pin down a definitive motive – and the killer. If you have any information at all about the murder of Maurice Dupree Green, also known as Melissa, in March of 2006, please come forward.
