Based upon the viral online phenomenon which he helped launch, YouTube creator Kane Parsons has directed this somewhat expiremental horror thriller focusing on an unique realm containing a never-ending series of strange rooms and corridors.  The story focuses on a troubled recent divorcee (Oscar-nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor) who owns a failing furniture store which contains a hidden door to this realm.  Once he enters, he begins exploring this realm and becomes obssessed with figuring it.  Oscar-nominee Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value, The Worst Person In the World) plays his troubled therapist who also eventually investigates....and liminal horror ensues!  Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon Send us Fan MailSupport the showhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

A political leader and his wife start to believe something is wrong with their son and that he may be the son of the devil. We're starting off The Kids Aren't Alright month with The Omen. This is a movie where there's definitely a kid and he's nowhere near alright. Gregory Peck stars in this film and he's one of a few strong performances in a movie that has bizarre characters, crazy events, and creepy deaths. You won't find a movie with a kid much creepier than the one in this film. The tone of the film is ominous and it certainly holds up. “The Killing Cell” is an awesome found footage film that's been tearing up the festival circuit with awards and nominations! Writer/director/producer and actor Karsen Schovajsa and his crew pulled together a nostalgic horror flick that captures the same eerie energy as “Hell House LLC” and “Grave Encounters.” I was lucky enough to check out a screener, absolutely loved it, and had to bring Karsen onto the podcast to talk all about the making of this soon-to-be cult hit! Make sure to follow TheKillingCellMovie, DeadRenegadeFilms, ScreenSanctity (James Bessey, co-director)and Karsen_Thomas3 for updates on the film. If you aren't already, please follow the podcast on Instagram and Facebook. While “Backrooms” blew away the competition, bringing in a record breaking box office number by the youngest director in movie history. Happy birthday to our very own GregaMortis today! I note that we are posting this episode on May 30, the Southern Gentleman's birthday. And now, it's finally time for another Monster Episode of Jay of the Dead's New Horror Movies, The Gold Standard of Horror Movie Podcasts! In Episode 180, your favorite Horror hosts brave fog-shrouded nightmare realms, claustrophobic oceans of blood, feminist Frankenstein chaos, regional shot-on-video monster madness, and even the emotional horrors of real life. We bring you new Horror releases, including Return to Silent Hill (2026), Iron Lung (2026), and Maggie Gyllenhaal's controversial The Bride! (2026) with special guest and podcast-debut newcomer, Teresa de la Tenebre. GregaMortis also returns with another installment of his beloved Specialty Segment, Monsters on the Mantle, where he and Jay of the Dead discuss the influential 1953 monster classic The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms! Gillman Joel and Dr. Shock also dive into the regional, shot-on-video oddity, Franky and His Pals (1990). Plus: This episode a special interview with author Phyllis E. Pyles (Jay's Necro-MOM-icon) about her memoir, "Hey Vic: Breaking the Cycle of Abuse." Through the course of this robust episode, we can boast of participation from nine of our 10 Horror Avengers: only Dave Zee is missing. But we also have two special guests — ladies, no less: Teresa de la Tenebre and Jay's Necro-MOM-icon, author Phyllis E. Pyles! We also bring you another one of our famous Muir Pick Group Reviews as Mister Watson selects Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)! The Horror Avengers debate the film's strange legacy, its relationship to the beloved TV series, Joss Whedon's original intentions, Paul Reubens' unforgettable death scene, and whether Cinematic Nostalgia Disorder (CND) may be clouding everyone's judgment! And finally, Jay and Spawn of the Dead close out the episode with a surprisingly enthusiastic Final Cut review of The Butterfly Effect (2004), discovered in a nearly abandoned Walgreens DVD bargain bin like the physical-media treasure hunters they truly are. This episode is dedicated to Emily R. Join us!

His work is known for its grotesque puppets, dark musical shorts, and incredible craftsmanship that turns stop motion into body horror and twisted comedy. Together, we chatted about Hugo's introduction to horror through Salad Fingers, disturbing British children's media, and how COVID brought him back to stop motion filmmaking. We also learned all about the universe of Spare Flesh and how a passion slowly became a career. We dove into films like Moving Parts and To The Brink, the art of mixing mediums, and creating work in a world of chaos and uncertainty. We absolutely loved our conversation with Hugo and learning about his incredible mesh of horror, comedy, and animation, and we're certain you will too, so … COME HANG OUT!!! Along the way we explore Don Mancini's original "Blood Buddy" script, the Cabbage Patch doll craze that inspired the film, the raised soundstage set and practical puppet work that brought Chucky to life, and why Catherine Hicks' performance makes Child's Play as much a story about a struggling single mother as it is a slasher. When this movie came out, there was a lot of hype surrounding how real it felt as a home invasion movie, primarily due to the lack of motive from the intruders. We're uncertain the movie holds up from a terror perspective, but it's certainly entertaining, suspenseful, and a unique entry into home invasion horror movies. With solid performances from Liv Tyler, Scott Speedman, and a fun cameo from Glenn Howerton, The Strangers is a fun ride that will make you want to pause going on any remote cabin trips. We debate the ethics of "unwritten rules" in sports, how these codes are set and enforced, and the ways they're good and bad.00:00 - Personal Reflections on Mother's Day and Sandy Hook's Impact12:40 - How Commercialization Changed Everest Climbing and Its Meaning24:22 - Exploring Addictive Personalities and Toxic Masculinity in Extreme Sports38:11 - The Rare Case of Twins with Different Fathers and Identity's Layers44:27 - African Runners' Communal Approach Defies Western Training Science50:58 - Debating the Ethics and Impact of Unwritten Rules in SportsBrain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:Get 40% off your first order PLUS get a free item in every box for life when you go to https://www.hungryroot.com/braincandy and use code braincandyVisit https://www.carawayhome.com/braincandypod to take an additional 10% off using code BRAINCANDYPOD on your next purchase.Head to https://cozyearth.com and use our code BRAINCANDY for an exclusive 20% off.
