When Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels declared the Loch Ness Monster a hoax to mock British intelligence and Mussolini claimed Italy bombed Nessie to death, the Allies fired back with the ultimate counter-propaganda: the lake monster survived and became a war hero.Support our Halloween “Overcoming the Darkness” campaign to help people with depression: https://weirddarkness.com/HOPEIN THIS EPISODE: You probably saw the title of this episode and immediately thought, “Whaaa?” Well, I'm going to tell you one of the most ridiculous stories I've ever heard that is 100% true. The Axis powers of World War II tried to kill the Loch Ness Monster. (The Assassination of the Loch Ness Monster) *** As far back as time is recorded, mankind has had a fascination with Sirius, the Dogstar. But what is so special about it aside from the fact that it's one of the brightest stars in our sky? Might there be an extraterrestrial connection as well? (Why So Serious About Sirius?) *** UFO reports come in constantly to police stations and online sites dedicated to the subject of Ufology – practically on a daily basis. And many sightings are by people you would consider above reproach such as law enforcement, scientists, military, numerous sightings by pilots… but when you head out into space and see a UFO, as is what happens with astronauts' reports, that's something you take a much closer look at. (Code Word: Santa Claus) *** Jimmy Logue left his wife after only two years of marriage. Without first getting divorced, he married another woman – whom he badly mistreated, so she left him. But he had already started an affair with her sister, so he married her next – now on his third wife. He abused her as well. He was also a career criminal – spending half his life living off the spoils of his thievery, the other half behind bars when caught. So it probably comes as no surprise that he was suspect number one when his third wife was found murdered. March 6, 1939. Fingringhoe, England. After purchasing some cigarettes at a local pub, 67-year old Ada Constance Kent seems to disappear and over the course of the next decade, numerous searches are performed of her empty cottage and they fail to turn up any trace of her. Ten years later, a human skeleton is discovered beneath some rubble in the cottage's bedroom alongside an empty bottle of poison, and after a forensic examination is performed, there is some uncertainty about who the remains actually belong to. When an inquest is held, a coroner's jury does eventually conclude that the skeleton is likely Ada Constance Kent, but since they are unable to determine her exact cause of death, they return an open verdict. Did Ada Constance Kent die inside her cottage and remain undiscovered for an entire decade? If not, then what actually happened to her? On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we travel back to the United Kingdom to explore a truly bizarre mystery. Think back to when you were a kid… if you were anything like me you were a little weirdo… in the best way possible. I absorbed every scrap of paranormal information that I could get my hands on… Books from the library, ghost stories from the old timers I knew… television programs like Unsolved Mysteries, In Search Of and Sightings… and if we were lucky… a TV special of some sort around Halloween time. But outside of that, there really wasn't much of an outlet for this sort of thing, especially for younger kids attracted to the field.  Well here at Monsters Among Us, we wanted to help bring that magic to a new generation. And tonight, we'd like to formally introduce you to that effort…  Monsters Among Us Junior!  Think: Monsters Among Us, but the stories are told by children, and the topics and overall vibe of the show is geared toward all the little monsters out there.  Just think about how many calls we get on the MAU hotline that took place when the caller was a child. Wouldn't it have been cool to have somewhere to share those experiences back in those days?  Well, now there is… Monsters Among Us Junior. Created and hosted by Derek Hayes of Monsters Among Us Podcast and co-hosted by MAU's lead researcher, Delainey Bowers. Welcome to the world of Monsters Among Us Junior. Happy hauntings, hooligans! Gary Leon Ridgway, better known as the Green River Killer, was one of the most prolific serial murderers in American history. Born in 1949 in Salt Lake City, Ridgway terrorized the Seattle-Tacoma area throughout the 1980s and 1990s. His victims were primarily vulnerable women — many of them sex workers or runaways — whom he lured into his truck before strangling them and dumping their bodies in remote wooded areas or near the Green River, which gave him his nickname. Ridgway maintained a steady job at a truck manufacturing plant, lived a seemingly ordinary suburban life, and even volunteered at church — all while carrying out a years-long killing spree that confounded investigators and horrified the nation. In 2003, Ridgway entered a plea deal that spared him the death penalty in exchange for full cooperation with authorities. He confessed to 48 murders but claimed the real number was closer to 70, saying, “I killed so many women I have a hard time keeping them straight.” Ridgway provided grisly details of his crimes — including necrophilia — and helped investigators locate remains of his victims years after their disappearances. His confessions revealed a cold, methodical predator who targeted women he believed would not be missed quickly, often returning to the scenes to relive his crimes. Ridgway was sentenced to 48 consecutive life sentences without parole, ensuring he would die behind bars.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

When a police speed camera picked up invisible humanoids sprinting at 40 mph, it became just one of dozens of credible cryptid encounters reported by multiple witnesses worldwide.Support our Halloween “Overcoming the Darkness” campaign to help people with depression: https://weirddarkness.com/HOPEIN THIS EPISODE: The number of Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, chupacabra, Jersey Devil, and various other cryptid and creature sightings is astronomical if you really look at it. And while it's more than possible that most of these sightings are explainable by misidentification of existing wildlife, or overactive imaginations, the sheer number of sightings couldn't possibly be waved off by such simple explanations. We'll look at some true stories of people who have come across unexplainable creatures. (I Met a Monster: True Stories of Cryptid Encounters) *** Have you ever had a premonition while dreaming? Something that later came true in real life? What do you do with that information? What if you know it's not a normal dream, but a real look into the future and if you don't do something, a tragedy will take place? But then… what if your dream warning is what actually leads to a real life murder? (The Dream That Led To Murder) *** The ability to move something only with the power of your mind has been disproven by science time and time again. Telekinesis, as much as we'd like to think it's possible, has been proven not to exist. Well, except for those scientific studies that we have not heard about that say the exact opposite. (The Reality of Telekinesis) *** Thousands of people in Finland experienced a UFO sighting one night in 1966. The incident, however, was obviously not taken too seriously, as it was barely investigated despite the numerous reports. But those who lived through it say it was a night they will never forget. (Anatomy of a UFO Incident) *** Born into wealth, then orphaned, then forced to marry at the age of 14, losing all control of her money and future, Katherine Ferrers did what any teenaged girl in her position would do – she became a ruthless highway robber that terrorized local villages. (Female Highwayman: The Wicked Lady of the 1600s) *** People in Gloucester, Massachusetts were reporting very bizarre things in the summer of 1692. They heard the march of troops despite the war having ended twenty years earlier. They saw what they claimed was a human scalp and the shape of a Native America's bow when looking at the face of the moon. But that was only the appetizer of what would come that horrifying summer of paranormal activity. (The Spectre Leaguers of Gloucester) *** Seeing a deceased loved one, a soft glowing light, a warm feeling of comfort and love… people have reported seeing many of these types of things when near death. And while some might want to blame it on the brain's neurons misfiring or even rapid-firing towards the end of someone's life, how does that explain that the majority of these reports are so similar? (Deathbed Visions) *** In 1849, young Cornelius Ahern was only nineteen years old, and his chosen occupation was pickpocketing. It's likely we never would've heard about him except for the fact that he once attempted – and failed – to pick the pocket of one particular writer who would one day become famous. Charles Dickens. (The Pickpocket and Charles Dickens) *** The assassination of President John F. Kennedy has been surrounded by controversy and conspiracy theories since the day of his death. The magic bullet theory, Lee Harvey Oswald was or was not the lone gunman, was there someone in the grassy knoll, was their a government conspiracy to have Kennedy killed? But there's another mystery most documentaries and books don't cover – what about Kennedy'smissing brain? Confessions Of A Killer: Gary Ridgway (The Green River Killer) (Part 1)

In 2007, four people vanished from the remote town of Nannup, Australia, Simon Kadwell, an online cult leader whose real identity was uncovered only after his disappearance, his partner Chantelle, their 6 year old daughter Leela and their family friend Tony Popic. A note was left behind “Gone to Brazil.” The next few days there were signs that either Simon or Tony may still have been active, but no one knows what happened to them.Contact us at: weeknightmysteries@gmail.comInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/weeknightmysteriesTikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@weeknightmysteries

Support our Halloween “Overcoming the Darkness” campaign to help people with depression: https://weirddarkness.com/HOPEOn March 19, 1919, the entire city of New Orleans threw a massive jazz party to appease a serial killer who promised to spare anyone playing jazz music in their homes that night – or face the blade of his axe.IN THIS EPISODE: The axe murders of New Orleans took place over a hundred years ago, but “The Jazzman Story” remains one of the greatest mysteries and unsolved murder cases within the annals of American crime. (The Axeman's Jazz) *** The investigation of an apparent suicide in 1953 led to an unbelievable theory… not only had the victim used LSD years earlier, but it was quite possible it was forced upon him by the Central Intelligence Agency. (The CIA and LSD) *** You don't often hear of people being struck and killed by lightning – at least not nowadays. But pick up a paper from the early 1900s and you'd think people were doing it as a hobby. (Death By Electrical Storm) *** January 30th, 1835 was the date of the first attempt at assassinating a sitting U.S. President – Andrew Jackson. That fact itself doesn't warrant placement in Weird Darkness, seeing as the attempt failed – but the story leading up to the attempt, and the attempt itself, certainly earn their place in this episode. (The President and the Madman) *** I'll end the episode in the Chamber of Comments, but before that, my last story will the most disturbing one of the episode. Most ghosts are seemingly passive or even benevolent, appearing to scare people only by accident, never by intent. But then there are the stories of violent and angry ghosts – spirits that not only bring terror, but also bloodshed and even death by their own ghostly hands. We'll look at some famous cases of violent hauntings throughout history.CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate)…00:00:00.000 = Show Open00:02:39.659 = The Axeman's Jazz00:22:15.246 = ***CIA and LSD00:29:01.021 = Death By Electrical Storm00:34:15.324 = The President And The Madman00:41:20.641 = ***Vicious And Violent Hauntings01:02:01.000 = Show Close*** = Begins immediately after inserted ad breakSOURCES and RESOURCES:BOOK: “A Terrible Mistake: The Murder of Frank Olson and the CIA's Secret Cold War Experiments” by H.P. Peaches ////// 877Part 1 of 1  www.TrueCrimeGarage.comWhile law enforcement continues to connect crimes and still more victims to the infamous Long Island Serial Killer investigation we decided to take a look at one of the more recent developments in this ongoing saga. In July of 2023 a family man and architect named Rex Heuermann was arrested in connection with three murders tied to the Long Island Serial Killer case or L.I.S.K. for short. Those names and a few others were given to a series of unsolved homicides where the bodies and remains of several young women, a male, and a toddler were discovered in and around Long Island, New York. It is undetermined at this time if all of the murders were committed by the same killer or killers. Since the arrest of Heuermann, investigators have continued to make progress. Heuermann was charged with four additional murders and we now know the identities of two of the victims - Peaches/ Jane Doe #3 & Baby Doe.For more information on these cases, including victim information and a timeline about the case go to www.GilgoCase.com Beer of the Week - Peach Hefeweizen by Southern Tier Brewing Company Garage Grade - 3 and 3 quarter bottle caps out of 5  More True Crime Garage can be found on Patreon and Apple subscriptions with our show - Off The Record.  Catch dozens of episodes of Off The Record plus a couple of Bonus episodes and our first 50 when you sign up today.  True Crime Garage merchandise is available on our website's store page.  So go on and get'ya some!  Follow the show on X and Insta @TrueCrimeGarage / Follow Nic on X @TCGNIC / Follow The Captain on X @TCGCaptain  Thanks for listening and thanks for telling a friend.  Be good, be kind, and don't litter!  Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
