What would you say if I told you the reason we circumcise our boys is not about preventing UTIs - - - but to prevent masturbation?   I know. WHAT?!   It's historically accurate that the circumcision movement in the U.S. was aggressively promoted in the late 1800s by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg—yes, the cereal guy —to curb masturbation. Kellogg believed that removing the foreskin - which contains over 20,000 specialized nerve endings - to permanently expose the glans, which then becomes scarred, calloused, and desensitized, would reduce sexual pleasure and therefore discourage what he saw as immoral behavior.    They're literally cutting off what many consider the male equivalent of "the G-Spot."   Yes - it's uncomfortable to talk about the sexual implications of a procedure performed on infants, but every adult male was once an infant - and it gets deeply personal for adult men when they learn what they lost without consent because their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were lied to.   This episode is personal for me. In 2008, I blindly handed over my newborn son for this "routine" procedure. Saying that now saddens my soul. I grew up in the Midwest. Circumcision is "normal." It's heart-wrenching to know THAT'S IT - cosmetic normalcy and smoke-and-mirror, for-profit, pseudo"science." That's why we do it - a cultural blind spot.   The AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS even SAYS there's NO SUBSTANTIAL HEALTH BENEFIT.    I heard my brand new baby boy's torturous screams as they performed - without anesthesia - this truly barbaric procedure billed to insurance as “circumcision.” It changed me. This became a truth I had to tell.   My guest is Eric Clopper, an attorney and former employee of Harvard University. Eric gained international attention with his viral lecture, "Sex & Circumcision: An American Love Story," performed at Harvard in 2018. It cost him his job, but created a platform to expose the cultural, religious, and medical forces keeping parents in the dark.   Through his legal practice, The Clopper Law Firm, P.C., and as the founding president of Intact Global, Eric challenges the constitutionality of laws permitting male genital cutting while prohibiting female genital mutilation, arguing that such laws violate the Equal Protection Clause.   Featured Presentation Sex & Circumcision: An American Love Story by Eric Clopper Watch it on VIMEO WARNING: CONTAINS ADULT LANGUAGE, DISTURBING CONCEPTS, AND GRAPHIC IMAGES Note: Galatians 5:6 says, "For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. This conversation isn't easy - and it isn't about blame or shame. It's about waking up to truth.   Good news: Change is happening. Circumcision rates in the U.S. have dropped to below 55% today—and even lower in some regions. Your son or grandson won't be alone. Being intact is becoming the new normal. The fear of being “different” or bullied in a locker room is fading fast as many parents are choosing to protect wholeness over conformity.   It takes some serious testicular fortitude to be the dad willing to say, “My son doesn't have to look like me.” - That's how healing begins. That's how cycles end.   I'm so thankful you're here. May this conversation stay with you—not as judgment, but as clarity. Not as fear, but as freedom.   With so much love, empathy, and hope,   —Jamie

They Also Served: Stories of Adventist Women

Anna Knight always wanted an education. Born in 1874 to a white, defected Confederate soldier and an emancipated slave of mixed heritage, she grew up in a post-Civil War South where education for Black children was severely restricted—or outright banned. Yet, Anna's unwavering determination propelled her beyond these barriers. Once denied access to basic schooling, she rose to become a nurse, educator, and administrator, earning recognition as a trailblazing leader among Black Seventh-day Adventists, Black women worldwide, and the entire Seventh-day Adventist community—Black or white, male or female. Choses à Savoir
Pourquoi les corn flakes étaient censés lutter contre la masturbation ?

Choses à Savoir

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 9, 2024 2:29

“Melatonin is the most powerful antioxidant that we know of in the human body—the king of antioxidants,” says today's guest Dr. Roger Seheult, whose Youtube channel MedCram, helps make complicated medical topics easier to understand. On this episode of the Quantum Biology Collective podcast, he breaks down the process by which melatonin mitigates oxidative stress at the mitochondrial level, thus preventing major diseases in the body.    The best way to get melatonin? From infrared light. But it's more complex than that. Dr. Seheult explains the two very different functions melatonin takes on during the day versus at night, where the body's greatest concentration of mitochondria lay, and why Vitamin D is just the beginning of what the sun has to offer our bodies.   This last point was raised throughout the COVID-19 pandemic—as well as the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918—where light therapies were used to treat patients. Dr. Seheult discusses the pioneering work of John Harvey Kellogg, a study performed in Brazil in which COVID patients were treated with an LED jacket, and the impact of light therapy on COVID patients who were on the brink of being intubated for ventilation.    Dr. Seheult shares his eight pillars of health—which form the acronym NEW START---and how a green environment enhances the absorption of near-infrared light.   Quotes “The sun, and sunlight, gives us much more benefit than just Vitamin D.” (10:00 | Dr. Roger Seheult)  “The body's designed to maximize that light's effect to get to the area where it's needed the most, which is the mitochondria.” (29:33 | Dr. Roger Seheult) “How do you prevent oxidative stress at night? By limiting light exposure to the eyes at night. How do you maximize melatonin-mediated protection of the mitochondria during the day? Through the production of melatonin on site in the mitochondria through the pathway of infrared light exposure.” (45:42 | Dr. Roger Seheult)    Links   Bon Charge Discount Code: at checkout enter the code: QBC to receive 15% off https://us.boncharge.com/collections/blue-light-blocking-glasses **If you're in the US and have a Health Savings Account (HSA or FSA) BonCharge products are an eligible expense**   Connect with Dr. Roger Seheult: Website: medcram.com Socials: https://twitter.com/MedCramVideos https://www.instagram.com/medcram/?hl=en https://www.facebook.com/MedCram/   To receive a FREE infographic of the Ideal Circadian Day & join our email list: https://www.quantumbiologycollective.com/qbc-newsletter-aqb To find a practitioner who understands quantum biology: www.quantumbiologycollective.org To see details about the Applied Quantum Certification: www.appliedquantumbiology.com Follow on Instagram & Facebook: @quantumbiologycollecitve Twitter: @quantumhealthtv     Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Creamy Chronicles: The Peanut Butter Story Welcome to Creamy Chronicles, where we delve into the stories behind the foods we love. I'm your host, Chef Walter Potenza, and today, we're diving into the delectable world of peanut butter. Peanut butter is a beloved spread that finds its way into our sandwiches, snacks, and desserts. But have you ever wondered about its origins and the journey to become a staple in American culture? Let's start with the history of peanut butter. While the Aztecs and Incas may have been the first to grind peanuts into a paste, it was in the late 19th century that peanut butter as we know it today began to take shape. Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, the same Kellogg of breakfast cereal fame, played a pivotal role. He developed one of the earliest versions of peanut butter as a protein-rich food for his patients. And let's not forget George Washington Carver, whose experiments with peanuts contributed significantly to its development. But how is peanut butter made? It's a relatively simple process: Raw peanuts are roasted to enhance their flavor. They're ground into a thick paste. Some manufacturers add salt, sugar, and other flavorings to create different varieties. The peanut butter is homogenized to achieve its smooth texture. From there, it's packaged and ready to enjoy. Now, let's talk about the American cult of peanut butter. It's more than just a spread; it symbolizes nostalgia, comfort, and childhood. Who didn't grow up enjoying peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? And let's not forget about peanut butter cookies, smoothies, and even savory dishes like peanut sauce for Asian cuisine. But peanut butter isn't just beloved for its taste. It's also packed with nutrition. It's a rich source of protein, healthy fats, and various vitamins and minerals. No wonder it became a staple in American households, especially during World War II when it was included in soldiers' rations for its high nutritional content. In conclusion, peanut butter isn't just a spread; it's a cultural icon. Its rich history, simple production process, and versatile uses have made it a beloved part of American cuisine and culture for generations.  That's it for today's episode of Creamy Chronicles. Join us next time as we explore another fascinating food story. Until then, keep spreading the love, one spoonful of peanut butter at a time. INGREDIENTS OF THE DAY:  None With this episode begins the first biographical podcast series highlighting the life and times of John Harvey Kellogg, the originator of corn flakes, the first all-American cereal that changed the way people ate breakfast.  But John Harvey Kellogg was more than just an inventor of new food products.  He tried to radically change the way Americans viewed their personal health by getting them to look at and change their personal habits.  Although trained as a traditional medical physician, Dr. Kellogg introduced alternative health treatments to his sick patients, so they could heal their bodies in a more natural way.  In Part 1 of this series, the highly charismatic doctor talks about his family history and the challenging life of a pioneer family trying to make a go of it in the Western territory of Michigan in the first half of the 19th century. The Blue Zones have become a popular meme recently, having been featured in a very popular Netflix documentary. A common thread in the documentary proclaims the benefits of a 90-98% plant-based diet , supposedly used in some areas of the world that have larger than normal populations of older humans: beacons of longevity! But what if I told you that the roots of the plant-based movement trace back to the Seventh Day Adventist Church and a certain breakfast cereal? This episode unearths the complex relationship between religion, corporate influence, and dietary choices. We journey back in time, tracing the origins of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, its profound influence on the plant-based movement, and its surprising role in the creation of breakfast cereal. An Eden on Earth, they believed, could be achieved through a plant-based diet.We scrutinize the Blue Zones, providing counterpoints from a carnivorous perspective for a balanced perspective.  The journey also takes us through the lives of pioneering figures like John Harvey Kellogg and his controversial health views that continue to resonate in today's health discussions.Ending the journey, we take a long, hard look at the Seventh Day Adventist Church's influence on nutrition, and their ownership of the Blue Zones. We uncover the intricate connections to Kellogg's cereal, Sanitarium Foods, and the American Nutritional and Dietetics Association.
