In February of 1983 23-year-old Austin mother Cindy Davis Rendon vanished from her parents' home in Northeast Austin. It was a normal Tuesday morning — Cindy fed her baby daughter, spoke briefly with her parents before they left for work, and planned to head to her shift at the Internal Revenue Service later that afternoon. But when her estranged husband arrived to pick up the baby, he found the front door wide open, breakfast spilled on the floor, and Cindy gone without a trace.Days passed. Then an anonymous envelope arrived in the mail containing some of Cindy's personal belongings — but offered no explanation. Months passed. And then, in July, a camper in Pace Bend Park found a skull protruding from the earth. The remains were soon confirmed to be Cindy's. She had been killed and buried in a shallow grave soon after she disappeared.Investigators believed they had their suspect — Cindy's estranged husband, Jose “Joe” Rendon. A grand jury agreed, indicting him for murder. But a legal technicality collapsed the case before it could ever reach a judge and jury, and a second grand jury refused to re-indict. 19 year old Adrienne Salinas from Tempe disappeared on in the early morning hours of June 15, 2013 after a party that turned into a chaotic night. Shortly before vanishing, Adrienne was supposed to walk to a nearby AM/PM convenience store where a taxi was waiting for her. June 25th, 1983. Helena National Forest, Montana. Nyleen Marshall went missing during a family outing in the Elkhorn Mountains. November 26 marks three years since Reina Carolina Morales Rojas disappeared after getting into a car in East Boston, Massachusetts. She was later dropped off in nearby Somerville and that was the last time anyone saw or heard from her.Despite being reported missing soon after, information about her disappearance didn't reach the public for nearly two months. It was only after community advocates spoke out that her story began to get the attention it deserved.Today, Reina Carolina Morales Rojas is still missing. There have been no new developments in her case, and her family – who once spoke to her every day – continue to wait and hope for answers. In this episode, Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna speak with ⁠Worcester State University ⁠archives librarian Ross Griffiths about the mysterious Bennington Triangle disappearances of Vermont and the disappearance of Paula Welden on December 1st, 1946. Paula Welden was last seen on the afternoon of December 1st, 1946. She left the campus that afternoon after telling her roommate she was going for a hike. Several hikers reported seeing her on the Long Trail, just off Route 9 near Glastenbury Mountain. She was reported missing by her roommate the following morning, after she did not return to campus. An extensive search of the area did not show any signs of Welden. Investigators from New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut assisted in the investigation, due to limited police services in Vermont at the time. Numerous theories were investigated, but no conclusive outcome was ever determined. This episode was previously published on Missing on April 24th, 2025.
