Erica Sand began her career in content management and creative copywriting, but when she fell into voice acting, quite by chance, she discovered a whole new world. Since then, Erica is the global voice of Ralph Lauren Romance perfume, Jepp, and Hotels.com, and has voiced campaigns for L'Oréal, Nestea, Jean-Paul Gaultier, and LinkedIn, as well as the Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals, among others. My guest this week is Swedish artist Ebba Palmstierna, also known as Ebba Pax. Ebba draws black and white beasts from other planes in a signature style that some find whimsical and others terrifiying, yet there's a childlike quality that threads through them all. Chef Eric Fraudeau knew he loved cooking at an early age, thanks to his grandmother and her farm. After traveling the world, cooking in places like Alcapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Montréal, and New York, and working in the kitchens of Alain Ducasse and Joel Robuchon, Eric returned to Paris and opened his own English language cooking school. This year, Cook'n with Class celebrates its 17th year. Eric believes that to truly understand a culture, you need to know its food. French pianist Aurélien Pontier made his debut on the Opéra Garnier stage when he was only nine years old. As a teenager, he traveled Europe, winning 1st prizes and unanimous jury prizes. Now, Aurélien plays as a soloist, in chamber orchestras, and with full orchestras. His album “Vienna: Joyful Apocalypse” was released this year, and Classica Magazine called it ”brilliant, agile and refined, (his) playing exalts the poetry of the pieces with fragile charm.”Did you know that professional pianists can tell where other pianists are from, just by listening to them play? When my friend told me she wanted to get a tattoo of Henry James on her arm, I'll admit I was skeptical, but this week's guest, Phu Phi Nguyen, did a spectacular job. Phu Phi doesn't usually tattoo portraits at all, saving them for her paintings and murals. Her usual tattoo style is incredibly fine-lined, detailed, and beautiful. True works of art, often reserved for flowers and plants. Now co-owner of her own Parisian tattoo shop, Monkeys Factory, Phu Phi also specializes in “therapeutic tattoos” for breast cancer survivors with mastectomy scars, burn victims, and other survivors. What is it that draws Phu Phi to fine-line tattooing and bold, graphic murals? Have you ever wondered if telepathy is real? Does magic exist? Can the future be predicted? Can a complete stranger read your mind? My guest this week is mentalist, coach, and actor Fabrice Ferra, who has been performing in stage shows all over the world, astounding audiences with his mind-reading abilities. In the lead up to his new show, “Mentalism à la Parisienne,” which opens in English in Paris on March 30th, I sit down with Fabrice to discover where his abilities come from, if some minds are more “readable” than others, and whether you need to be as charming as Omar Sy in Lupin to be a successful mentalist. For tickets to his show, click here: https://ferrafabrice.com/https://www.instagram.com/fabriceferra/https://www.facebook.com/fabrice.ferra Join us on Patreon: patreon.com/parisundergroundradioFind Us OnlineWebsite: https://parisundergroundradio.com/cityofmusesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/parisundergroundradioInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/parisundergroundradio/ CreditsHost and Producer: Jennifer Geraghty. https://parisundergroundradio.com/jenniferfoxgeraghty @jennyphoria; Website: http://jennyphoria.comMusic CreditsBeyond Inspiration juqboxmusic License: 1F36635C-8CE84C39-98B2531B-FEAA8727 About UsWho will be the world's next Salvador Dali, Thierry Mugler, or Josephine Baker, launching a new wave of the avant-garde? For the Season Three premiere of City of Muses, I am thrilled to introduce you to Jase King, a multidisciplinary artist from Australia, living in the City of Light. Jase is a talented painter, sculptor, and photographer, but its his avant-garde face masks, or face sculptures, that I was immediately obsessed with. You can see some of his brilliant work on the Paris Underground Radio Instagram account.Jase's work has been shown at Art Basel, New York Fashion Week, the IFA Paris Instanbul Fashion show, among others, and he most recently creative directed three shows at AQUA Art Miami. In our conversation, Jase shares how a global pandemic inspired a new art form, how he transforms an abstract feeling into a concrete piece, and how one plate of pasta started it all. https://www.jaseking.eu/https://www.instagram.com/jaseking Join us on Patreon: patreon.com/parisundergroundradio Find Us OnlineWebsite: https://parisundergroundradio.com/cityofmusesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/parisundergroundradioInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/parisundergroundradio/ CreditsHost and Producer: Jennifer Geraghty. https://parisundergroundradio.com/jenniferfoxgeraghty @jennyphoria; Website: http://jennyphoria.comMusic CreditsBeyond Inspiration juqboxmusic License: 1F36635C-8CE84C39-98B2531B-FEAA8727 About UsWho will be the world's next Salvador Dali, Thierry Mugler, or Josephine Baker, launching a new wave of the avant-garde? Molly Wilkinson has always loved baking. One day, years into her career in a digital marketing agency, she decided to fly to France and enroll in Le Cordon Bleu. Once she was trained as a pastry chef, there was no stopping her. Now, Molly lives in Versailles and works full-time as a pastry teacher. She gives classes online and in person and her desserts are delicious, adorable, and designed to make French baking accessible. She published a cookbook called “French Pastry Made Simple” in 2021 and is herself the subject of this year's children's book “Let Them Eat Cake.” https://www.mollyjwilk.com/https://www.facebook.com/MollyJWilkhttps://www.instagram.com/mollyjwilk/https://www.pinterest.fr/mollywilk/https://www.tiktok.com/@mollyjwilk/ Join us on Patreon: patreon.com/parisundergroundradio Find Us OnlineWebsite: https://parisundergroundradio.com/cityofmusesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/parisundergroundradioInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/parisundergroundradio/ CreditsHost and Producer: Jennifer Geraghty. https://parisundergroundradio.com/jenniferfoxgeraghty @jennyphoria; Website: http://jennyphoria.comMusic CreditsBeyond Inspiration juqboxmusic License: 1F36635C-8CE84C39-98B2531B-FEAA8727 About UsWho will be the world's next Salvador Dali, Thierry Mugler, or Josephine Baker, launching a new wave of the avant-garde? This week, my guest is Victor Schegin, a native Parisian whose first foray into the art world was as a 15-year-old street artist. As a painter, Victor explores vulnerability through his portraiture, often blending emotive, introspective models with bright, bold colors and abstract elements. Victor is generous with his time and talent, offering tips and tricks to his followers online. He is also an art teacher and has created a Facebook group of artists helping and supporting other artists numbering over 120,000. In our conversation, Victor shares how he fell in love with painting and what it took to finally get him to pursue it full-time. He tackles some of the biggest ideas in the art world today: where is the line between street art and vandalism, what does it take to be great, and how does that corrolate to a career where you've “made it.” https://www.instagram.com/seehundart/?hl=enhttps://seehundart.com/ https://twitter.com/seehundart Join us on Patreon: patreon.com/parisundergroundradio Find Us OnlineWebsite: https://parisundergroundradio.com/cityofmusesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/parisundergroundradioInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/parisundergroundradio/ CreditsHost and Producer: Jennifer Geraghty. https://parisundergroundradio.com/jenniferfoxgeraghty @jennyphoria; Website: http://jennyphoria.comMusic CreditsBeyond Inspiration juqboxmusic License: 1F36635C-8CE84C39-98B2531B-FEAA8727 About UsWho will be the world's next Salvador Dali, Thierry Mugler, or Josephine Baker, launching a new wave of the avant-garde? My guest this week is Agnès Sevestre, a Master Craftsman in Fine Crafts Engraving and the Founder of A.S. Bronze d'art. Agnés is one of only around 150 people in all of France qualified in this highly-specialized art form. She works with metals like brass, copper and bronze to apply ornamentation techniques to jewelry, furniture, light fixtures, silverware and more. Those beautiful handmade butterflies you find crafted around an ornate perfume bottle? That's the kind of work she does. Agnès's most recent project, Archipels, breaks her free from the tiny, detailed work she's used to as she creates the largest pieces she's ever made. This week, my guest is hand weaver and textile designer Mathieu Le Traon. Mathieu discovered hand weaving only a few years ago, but he quickly fell in love with it, and decided to quit his prestigious career to pursue his artistry full-time. Mathieu's work is extraordinary, not only because it's beautiful, which it unequivocably is, but because he uses it as a means of storytelling, embedding codes, music, language and literature into his work. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, hand woven from the animal fibers that he loves, which add another important, thoughtful element to his work. This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Melanie Furtado. Melanie is a Canadian sculptor and art educator who won this year's prestigious Médaille Bronze at the Salon des Artistes Français. She first grabbed my attention with her fantastic “Women: States of Being” series, in which she showcases naked women of diverse ages, races, and body types in states of quiet contemplation. She creates her sculptures by adding pieces, little by little, one at a time, leaving the textures of these pieces of clay and her fingerprints as part of the final piece of art. While the focus may start on the body, its the depth of emotion she captures in the faces that really draws you in.In our conversation, Melanie shares what draws her to scultpure and the human form, which body part is her favorite to sculpt, how the best things about Paris are also the worst, and so much more.https://www.melaniefurtado.comhttps://www.instagram.com/melanie.furtado/Join us on Patreon: patreon.com/parisundergroundradio Find Us OnlineWebsite: https://parisundergroundradio.com/cityofmusesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/parisundergroundradioInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/parisundergroundradio/ CreditsHost and Producer: Jennifer Geraghty. https://parisundergroundradio.com/jenniferfoxgeraghty @jennyphoria; Website: http://jennyphoria.comMusic CreditsBeyond Inspirationjuqboxmusic License: 1F36635C-8CE84C39-98B2531B-FEAA8727 About UsWho will be the world's next Salvador Dali, Thierry Mugler, or Josephine Baker, launching a new wave of the avant-garde? Orlando Louis calls himself an entertainer but, as a talented singer, dancer, model and actor, I'm just not sure that word is big enough. Orlando originated the roles of Scar and Mufasa in Paris's Broadway version of The Lion King,” roles he still currently performs in Disneyland Paris. He created "The Brown Sugar Show," celebrating African-American music worldwide, as well as the soul funk musical "Blax: The Musical." Orlando has performed all over the world, including in Jean Paul Gaultier's Haute Couture tribute to Amy Winehouse, and with Hans Zimmer and Others.
