Pizza Party Part 2 (Two Things)Today's episode is the second in a multi-part series I've dubbed “Pizza Party”. In today's session, we break down the Two Things that are essential to embodying the Spirit of God in your life. The “fruit of the Spirit”, as Apostle Paul reveals in Galatians 5:22-23, is made up of nine elements: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.Now, it's one thing to know the what when it comes to defining the fruit of the Spirit. Paul has given us the what. But this series aims to accomplish something totally unique: I'm taking things a step further and discussing the why, the where, and the how of the fruit of the Spirit. However, before we can analyze the nine elements of the fruit of the Spirit, slice by slice, there are "Two Things" we have to talk about that are essential to fully appreciate this series—and not just this series, but your life as a believer.Just what are these Two Things that we need to understand in our quest to resist the acts of the flesh and embody the Spirit of Truth? Tune in and find out. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: ● Our Spotlight Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23● Opening prayer● The why, the where, and the how of the fruit of the Spirit● What Dr. Seuss and Galatians 5:19-25 can teach us about embodying the Spirit of Truth● Overcoming the acts of the flesh via practicing our righteousness and sanctification● Closing prayerKey Quotes by Pastor Milo:● [This study is about the ] Old You versus the New You. The Old You has this human nature—this fallen nature—where it's just natural to sin. Paul says, in your old nature, you produce what is called the “acts of the flesh”. [...] But now you're a...new creation. You've been made new by God—you've been born again. You've been born by the Spirit of God and [...] so you don't produce the acts of the flesh but the fruit of the Spirit.● Sanctification shows us the Divine Directive and the Divine Direction of God.Support the show

Episode 58 - Don't Be a TurkeyHappy Thanksgiving! As we reunite with family at what we hope to be the tail-end of the pandemic pandemonium, let's utilize practical wisdom to make sure everyone we come in contact with remains safe and healthy.Don't be unsafe. Don't be unwise...Also, don't be a turkey.Preacher Milo says this to mean: Have courage. Specifically, Christian courage, or “the materialization of your strength in the Lord.”Christian courage is a wonderful virtue that sits between two other traits: strength and wisdom. Preacher Milo says that developing these three traits is a matter of capacity, ability, and quality. Listen in as he goes on to explain how you can grow in Christian courage and how to apply this powerful virtue in your life. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: ● [00:43] Let's use practical wisdom as we enjoy Thanksgiving in 2021 ● [02:48] Our Spotlight Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:6 ● [03:11] Opening prayer ● [03:51] Thankful for Another Day by Qheem The Redeemed ● [09:25] What is “Christian courage” and the other two key traits? ● [13:23] What today's Spotlight Scripture teaches us about Christian courage ● [15:00] The dos and don'ts and the what and the why of Christian courage ● [16:43] The context behind Deuteronomy 31:6 ● [25:56] A recap of our discussion on Christian courage ● [27:50] What is your biggest fear? ● [29:24] Faith is the substance of things hoped for ● [32:20] Closing prayer Key Quotes by Preacher Man Milo:● Christian courage is the materialization of your strength in the Lord.● When you have Christian courage, what do you do? Well, you be strong and courageous. And what don't you do? You don't be afraid or terrified. That's the what. But what's the why? And the why is, simply: The Lord your God is with you. He will never leave, never forsake, never abandon you. It really is that simple.● Your biggest fear keeps you elusive in your faith.● Faith is the substance of things hoped for. And I want you to know that Christian courage is the substance of you having the wisdom that your strength is in God.Spotlight Scripture:"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”Deuteronomy 31:6
Episode 57 - Free Gold "To the Jews who had believed in Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to My teachings you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” You've just read John 8:31-36, and if there's one thing we can take away from this magnificent bit of scripture, it's this: Our faith in Jesus is what sets us free, and our faith in Jesus is better than gold. With Veterans Day upon us, Preacher Milo points to the history of our freedom as Americans as a powerful illustration of how we should celebrate our faith-based freedom as Christians. He then breaks down our spotlight scripture before giving us two practical ways to apply our God-given freedom to our life. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: ● [00:44] Our Spotlight Scripture: John 8:31-36● [02:15] Preacher Milo's message to all veterans● [05:22] Opening prayer● [06:12] Golden ● [07:41] What Veterans Day teaches us about our freedom as Christians● [09:17] Fun facts about Veterans Day● [14:53] Freedom● [17:03] A discussion on John 8:12-30 to contextualize our spotlight scripture● [22:40] Are you a believer or a challenger?● [24:26] The three categories of discipleship● [30:56] Two ways to apply your faith-based freedom in your life ● [36:07] Closing prayer Key Quotes by Preacher Milo:● The way in which we celebrate the history of our veterans in America is significant as an illustration to how we celebrate our freedom, not just as Americans, but also as Christians.● Freedom comes through the Son. The Son is part of the family. The Son of the King is royalty. The Son tells the slave, “You can go. You are free.” You are really free because the Son has the authority to set you free.● Our faith in Jesus is what sets us free, and our faith in Jesus is better than gold.● When your faith is genuine and it gets tested, it proves itself to be true faith, because it results in you giving God praise, glory, and honor. Why? Because the truth of Jesus has been revealed to you. You believe in Him. You know Him.
Episode 56 - God is Great Is God good, or is God great? It may seem like a simple question; but, as Preacher Milo explains in today's Bible study session, pondering His greatness can help us radically deepen our faith as well as our ability to become Christ-centered amid crisis.Listen in as Preacher Milo shares why it is actually the goodness of God that is evidence of His greatness. He illustrates this through song, saying, and scripture. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: ● [00:44] Is God good, or is God great?● [01:45] Our Spotlight Scripture: Psalm 145:3● [03:23] Opening prayer● [04:35] Great is the Lord ● [07:07] Searching for the greatness of God● [08:40] Great is the Lord Breakdown● [11:14] Defining “good”● [14:06] Psalm 145:3● [16:29] King David's humility before the Lord [Psalm 145:1-2]● [18:35] Proclaiming God's greatness● [20:53] Praising God's greatness● [22:21] Pondering God's greatness● [24:42] Closing prayer Key Quotes by Preacher Milo:● God, You are great. You are mighty. You are worthy of all the praise, all the honor, and all the glory.● We are not just hearers of Your Word. God, we are doers of Your Word, as well.● God is great. Great is the Lord. What a mighty great God we serve.● To be Christ-centered during a crisis is a very good thing because you're confident in a God that can solve the things that you can't solve.Spotlight Scripture:Psalm 145:3, NKJV"Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable."
Episode 55 - Struggle Season In today's Bible study, we focus on how we find success in our struggle seasons—those moments where we can't help but despair that the storms of life are going to overwhelm us. We're all too familiar with our collective struggle season that is the COVID-19 pandemic; but how are you coping with your individual struggle seasons? We've all had different sorts of these storms throughout our life: financial storms, health storms, spiritual storms, family storms, and many, many others that we've had to brace ourselves against over the years. Listen in as Milo shares how we may find success amid our most turbulent struggles. First, he shines a light on the one inescapable truth about our struggle seasons. He then enumerates what he calls “Success Seven”—seven Bible-based steps we can take to weather life's storms. Finally, Milo encourages us to have a circle of Bible-believing friends in our lives who can help us remember and live out the Word as we seek out success during our struggle seasons. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: ● [01:27] What King Solomon teaches us about our struggle seasons ● [03:54] Opening prayer ● [05:26] Looking For God in our struggle season ● [06:44] The big difference between a struggle situation and a struggle season ● [10:00] The inescapable truth about struggle seasons, courtesy of King Solomon ● [20:51] Success Seven: The first two ● [28:21] Success Seven: The last five ● [36:36] Bible Study Close “Struggle Season” ● [39:19] Closing prayer Key Quotes by Milo: ● There is a big difference between a struggle situation and a struggle season. A situation simply means “a state of affairs”. [...] They happen all the time and they get solved all the time. But a struggle season—that's a situation that stays too long. It defines your days.● Struggle seasons happen from time to time. That's the one inescapable truth.● Everyone is either in a storm, headed into a storm, or coming out of a storm. But somewhere, there is a storm nearby. Key Scripture: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:" Ecclesiastes 3:1
Bible Study Episode 54 - Room and Time We kick off Season 3 with a discussion on how we ought to prioritize the Lord in our daily lives, taking inspiration from our Spotlight Scripture—Titus 2:14. Milo shares, through the perspective of the redeemed Paul, how he taught Titus and Timothy on the principles of leadership and pastorship—the result of which we read in the pastoral epistles. He goes on to break down today's Spotlight Scripture and offers four easy ways we can make room and time for God. Here's a glimpse of what you'll learn: ● [01:05] Our Spotlight Scripture: Titus 2:14 ● [01:53] Opening prayer ● [05:08] How humans prioritize ● [07:36] Making room and time for God ● [09:29] The pastoral epistles ● [13:05] Breaking down Titus 2:5-14 ● [18:45] Purifying a people for His very own ● [19:54] Salvation vs sanctification ● [23:18] How to prioritize God in four steps Key Quotes by Milo:● People prioritize what matters to them.● God designed us. It makes sense that we would prioritize what matters to us. But God does desire that we prioritize Him.● He didn't just make room for us and prioritizes us because He loves us (although He does). He also wants a people that belongs to Him.Spotlight Scripture:"who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good." [Titus 2:14]

Study of Scripture: Psalm 1; Psalm 119:133 Hashtags don’t get us to Heaven. Social and political justice movements like "Black Lives Matter" and "Stop the Steal" are important matters. For the Christian, however, nothing should “matter” more than following the Word of God. In today’s Bible study, Milo provides commentary on “Black Lives Matter” and “Stop the Steal” after he provides a verse-by-verse breakdown of Psalm 1. Milo also shares his “2P6C” process, which he designed to help him discern how to support (or not support) modern-day movements. Psalm 1 Matters Scripture Spotlight: Psalm 1 “Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the [a]ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.” Psalm 119:133 “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” Quote: “Hashtags don’t get us to Heaven” Recent Bible Studies: Click the link below to any other recent Bible study that may interest you.2020 is Fired! Study of Scripture: Zechariah 2:5; Leviticus 10:1-3 Now that 2020 is FIRED, how do we avoid bringing “Strange Fire” with us as we enter 2021? Milo starts 2021 not only celebrating the new year, but also celebrating that today’s Bible study is the 50th episode on this podcast!! (Whew hew!!)After making mention of this milestone, Milo offers up what he believes is the perfect theme song for the “dumpster fire” of a year that was 2020.This Bible study serves as a warning that simply shouts STAY AWAY from “strange fire” as we seek God’s guidance, grace and goodness in this new season. Milo shares “perspective passages” in Exodus and elsewhere, to give much needed context connected to the strange event that occurs in the opening verses of Leviticus 10. By avoiding “unauthorized” activity, we all can move past the dumpster fire of 2020 , while making sure we are not “playing with fire” in 2021. Milo teaches how this is the key, allowing all of us to get fired-up about our faith and our future at the outset of this new year! 2020 is FIRED! Key Scriptures:“ And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.”’ [Zechariah 2:5]“Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command. So fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.” [Leviticus 10:1-2] Key Quotes:“Perspective passages give us context to the text we are connecting to” "We must remember that we are part of God's Royal Priesthood." Study of Scripture: Romans 8:24-28; Genesis 50:20; Philippians 4:10-13; James 1:2-4 Even though 2020 has been all bad from start to finish, Milo uses his platform to promote an alternative perspective. From all bad to all good? Not exactly.Drawing insight from “the paradox of partial knowledge,” Milo reflects on his thought process at the end of 2019. Relying upon these past insights, he deals with the dilemma of partial knowledge in a way that empowers the Christian community to see God’s goodness all throughout 2020, as well as in whatever 2021 has in store!!Connecting passages from four different books of the Bible, this is the study that will help you handle your hardships with clarity, confidence and comfort. Study of Scripture: Matthew 26:17-30; 1 Corinthians 10:14-16, 11:17-26Did you know that communion is the Messiah’s Meal Plan that reminds us to remember Him?Coronavirus pandemic protocols are messing up our thanksgiving “meal plans” this year. Study of Scripture: James 1:20; Matthew 5:20; Luke 12:1-7Did you know that rioting the “More Right” way only happens when you know your value? Protests erupted all across America over the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, at the hands of a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In today’s Bible study, Preacher Man Milo calls out America for her checkered past regarding racial injustice. He then addresses how our actions, born out of anger, produces the “unrighteousness” of rioting. Milo encourages everyone who is hurting to repurpose their pain by doing two things:(1) Know your value (2) Rise above your anger Milo teaches these two points not from the perspective of judgment, but from the perspective of Jesus. Study of Scripture: John 14:1-19Did you know that APART from God’s love, Ravi Zacharias was a teenage suicidal atheist? In today’s Bible study, Preacher Man Milo tackles the topic of teenage suicide. To help facilitate the flow of this study, Milo leans on the life, legacy and lessons of Ravi Zacharias. An ardent advocate and apologist for the Christian faith for nearly five decades, Ravi Zacharias died on May 19th, 2020. Ravi was 74. The Biblical basis for today’s study is found in the Gospel according to John at chapter fourteen. In this Bible Study, Preacher Man Milo teaches about what it means to be “equally yoked” both spiritually and romantically. This Bible study focuses on the good character of the “Proverbs 31” woman. In this lesson Milo challenges the concept of the "Ephesians 5" man and the "Proverbs 31" woman as "heartfelt" but "half-hearted." Study of Scripture: John 3:16 Do you have a THEORY about what is God’s primary LOVE language? This Bible study is two parts rolled into one.In this special edition Bible study, Preacher Man Milo takes on the love theory of the “five love languages” as originally introduced by Gary Chapman. The layout for this lesson calls listeners to look at this love theory not only romantically, but also -- spiritually.Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Physical Touch, Quality Time and Gifts. What is YOUR primary love language??Part 1: “The Set-Up”The first thirty minutes of this Bible study sets the stage for the rest of the lesson. Milo opens this episode explaining what the love languages concept is all about. He then offers a theoretical example that reveals how our “signals can get crossed” when we fail to identify our partner’s primary love language. Thereafter, Milo transitions from a theoretical example to a very personal one, candidly communicating how his own heart-breaking experience caused him to learn more about his primary love language. Milo also breaks down John 3:16 as part of the Bible study set-up. Rightly dividing the meaning of this glorious verse, we slow down so we can see how much God truly loves each of us! Part 2: “Mini-Messages”Milo moves on to offer five “mini” messages about the five love languages. Milo rolls out his original adaptation of this love theory, which he calls Preacher Man Milo’s five “LOVE OF THE LORD” love languages. Connecting how we prefer to experience love romantically to how we are called as Christians to express love spiritually, Milo teaches about this love theory on an introductory level, one love language at a time. Each mini- message, separate and apart from the others, provides a path for us to better answer these following questions about our primary love language:A. How is this love language expressed and experienced romantically? B. How did Jesus express love consistent with each love language? C. How can we use the “Love of the Lord” that lives inside of us to express love to each other consistent with each love language? Finally, Milo professes to know what Father God’s primary love language is. He attempts to persuade listeners to come to the same conclusion about how the Creator desires His children to express love to Him in Jesus' name! LOVE THEORY *Some listeners may want to go back and listen to different "mini-message" found on this episode at different times. Study of Scripture: Matthew 8:5-10Did you know that THE JESUS WASH happens when you have a HEART POSTURE that is willing to beg Jesus for help and healing? A hard heart is hard to help. In this Bible study, Preacher Man Milo encourages each of us to examine our own heart’s before we approach Jesus for help and healing. This shared season of shelter-in-place (stemming from the coronavirus pandemic) has motivated many of us to make room in our hearts to call on the name of Jesus like never before. Checking our heart posture is the proper preparatory step before having a heart-to-heart with King Jesus!! The Biblical text for today’s lesson is found in chapter eight of the Gospel according to Matthew, when a centurion approached Jesus asking for help. Milo takes a verse-by-verse approach, using insight gleaned from the text to evaluate the heart posture of this centurion as a precursor to evaluating our own hearts. What heart posture do you have when you approach Jesus? Let’s find out!! The Jesus Wash This is the third Bible study offered on this podcast in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Study of Scripture: Philippians 4:6; 1 Timothy 2:1-5; Romans 8:26; Matthew 6:5-8Did you know that your prayers offered up to God are like Spiritual Drones? In this Bible study, Preacher Man Milo uses his illustration of Spiritual Drones to teach about how our prayers are both important to God and powerful for each other. Considering the coronavirus pandemic and this shared season of shelter-in-place, Milo encourages all of us to level-up our prayer lives for ourselves and each other. In this lesson, Milo connects his Spiritual Drones illustration to insight found in selected scriptures written by the Apostle Paul. Thereafter, Milo pivots to something Jesus commanded regarding how we should pray. Question: When someone says, “Please pray for me.” – what kind of Christian are you? Hopefully, you are the kind of Believer that gets on the BATTLEFIELD and sends up powerful prayers (aka Spiritual Drones) in Jesus' name!!If that is who YOU are, or, if that is who YOU aim to be – this study is for YOU!! Study of Scripture: Mark 7:1-9; Luke 11:37-41Did you know that while Corona is calling us to get clean on the outside, Christ is calling us to get clean on the inside? COVID-19 has put the whole world on house arrest. In this Bible study, Preacher Man Milo focuses on the difference between social distancing and spiritual distancing, encouraging all of us to grow ‘closer’ to Christ during this season of quarantine craziness. Today’s lesson focuses on the time that Jesus was confronted because His followers did not wash their hands before eating. Thereafter, the spotlight shifts to when Jesus Himself refused to wash His hands before a meal. Milo’s Biblical and balanced approach endeavors to edify the Body of Christ to spring into spiritual action in two key areas: (1) Trusting Jesus (2) Following Jesus. In this season of shared struggle, let us leave our own understanding and learn to lean on God’s everlasting arm by listening to what the LORD is teaching -- about washing hands. What is so ‘profound’ and ‘mysterious’ about the Christian marriage? In Apostle Paul's letter to the Church of Ephesus, he quotes the “becoming one flesh” scripture that is found in Genesis 2:24 and then immediately describes it as the "profound mystery” of marriage. In today's Bible study, Preacher Man Milo provides insight and imagery to help reveal what this "profound mystery" is all about. In the welcome section, Milo leads a group of soon to be newlyweds in a marriage counseling ceremony. During this ceremony, Milo is empowered to speak commands and write vows for the Christian couples, charging them to establish the right heart posture for becoming "one flesh” in the sight of God and each other. Thereafter, Milo teaches about the “Free Marriage Giveaways” --- which is what the marriage bond through King Jesus is all about!! Study of Scripture: Ephesians 5:22-33Did you know that when that woman WERKS her submission towards her OWN husband –it reminds him that he LOVES her just the way that she is?Preacher Man Milo dips his toe in the deep end of the “Romantical” series with this Bible study. Ladies, be afraid…be very, very afraid!!!In this lesson, Milo “teaches” the husbands his romantical method for making-up with Helper Bae - a method he designed as a sure-fire strategy for startling the wife while she is making breakfast. Milo’s method, which he calls “Operation: Ohwell-Siracha” is touted (only by Milo) as a seductive way to inspire every wife to do three things:1. Let go of that early morning attitude. 2. Respond to the startling seduction of her OWN husband.3. Desire to learn more about Biblical submission. Say What??!!! Milo’s teachings on Biblical submission boils down to what he calls the Righteous Romantic Role-play, which is the Christ-centered principle that governs Godly marriages.
