It’s not business as usual lately. Christ-followers are taking on the challenge of the Great Commission. But hasn’t that been the mission of the Church for 2,000 years? Yes. However, these days, there’s a growing, different approach in the works. Rather than the Western Church doing it on her own, she’s partnering with the indigenous Church to reach the unreached for Jesus. Meet Steve Harling, the brand new President of Reach Beyond. He has a passion to mobilize the Church to take Jesus to places that have never heard the name of our Savior. Hear his passion and heart in this episode of the Reach Beyond Podcast. Outgoing President Wayne Pederson interviews Steve in Steve’s first public appearance since he took the reins of the Reach Beyond presidency September 1. Some leadership transitions can be messy. You’ll be encouraged hearing these two men together and sense the healthy transition at Reach Beyond. Steve is a long-time pastor, serving at churches in New York, California and Colorado. The son and grandson of missionaries and he also served as a missionary with SIM and as a pastor in Sudan. There are seasons in our lives where it is simply a “dangerous place to be." One of those seasons seems to be when we hit age 40. In this episode, join us for a candid discussion with Peter Greer, co-author of the book 40/40 Vision: Clarifying Your Mission in Midlife. Midlife is a disruptive season where we collide with limitations on all sides. We recognize there is more to life in the rear view mirror than the road ahead of us. We wonder if our lives so far have been worthwhile. But midlife is also an opportunity to recalibrate our vision. Peter tells his own story of hitting 40 and how he dealt with this milestone. He gives us counsel on how we can avoid common pitfalls at this stage and make our lives count in a new way with Christ’s eternal perspective. Peter has a heart to take the gospel to the world, and you’ll catch his excitement and vision in this dialogue. WARNING: It may rub off on you. In this episode, you’ll also be able to download a simple one-sheet that will help you stay on the course God has for you. Resources

You’ll hear how God has been moving to turn resistance to an openness to the gospel. Even to the point that a church now exists in that village. Ty Stakes is the Executive Director of Reach Beyond’s Asia Pacific Region and Ron With serves as Reach Beyond’s Information Technology Manager. RESOURCES

One of the most innovative tools for the work of the gospel today is a device called the SonSet Radio. It’s a solar-powered hand-held radio, fixed-tuned to the local Christian station. In most cases, it is the only Christian media voice in the community. More than 50,000 of these missionary tools have been distributed around the world in some of the most remote places. As a result, hundreds of thousands of people are hearing the Good News for the first time, and lives are being transformed by Jesus Christ. In this episode, you’ll hear stories from across the globe as multiple guests bring their personal experiences to the microphone. You’ll be encouraged by the SonSet Effect and the effort to send 5,000 SonSet Radios to the Asia Pacific region this year, proclaiming Jesus in Indonesia, Thailand, Mongolia and Nepal. God has used Reach Beyond to plant dozens of stations in these countries and SonSet Radios will grow the gospel impact of the stations.

(November 16, 2015)- When believers build a new radio station in a place unreached with the gospel, life transformation happens in that community. In this episode, we celebrate the launch of a brand-new station in Nepal. But these were not obstacles for God as He opened the way for the community FM station to be built. Ty Stakes is passionate about declaring and demonstrating the love of Jesus to people who have never heard. He and other Reach Beyond team members have worked closely with indigenous Nepali believers to be the voice and hands of Jesus in that country. You’ll be inspired as you hear the story of how God is blending the tools of radio, healthcare and community development to transform villages in Nepal. People are coming to Jesus. Listen as Ty tells us how God is using formerly trafficked girls to lead a movement to introduce people in their communities to Jesus. You’ll be surprised at how this is being done in conjunction with a local radio partner.
