In episode 182 “War Wounds”, Kdot give his perspective on Teyanna Taylor and Ishumpert and her filing for divorce. He talks about why he feels divorce rates are so high. Do you think people understand what they want from marriage? Is the list too long to satisfy? Additionally, he talks about the Holiday season and how it may look different for everyone. Moreover, he speaks on his mindfulness practices because of the people who may be struggling during the holiday season. He also talks about finding solid adult friends and why it is important. Lastly, he challenges the definition of a “Safe space”. What is a safe space and can you create it without mistakes? Do people withdraw from others too quickly? Communication is the most important part of having and/or creating a safe space. This episode was really transparent. Listen and enjoy! Bee keeping, basket weaving - if you lost limbs in WW1, you might need to retrain for a job, Louise Bell of Leeds University tells Susan Morrison about the Erskine Hospital and a Gordon Highlander who wanted to go there. Servicemen of an earlier age might find care more rough and ready - Dr Catherine Beck of Copenhagen University looks at mental health in the age of Nelson's navy and why it was thought to be such a pressing issue. In the 18th century electricity was thought to be mysterious and scary, and there was still a whiff of that into the 20th century when savvy female demonstrators were wanted to try and get the highland housewife happy with the power supply of the future. Located in a far-flung corner of the south Atlantic, the Islas Malvinas, or Falkland Islands, are at the heart of an age-old rift between Argentina and the UK. Back in 1982, this escalated into a ten-week war between the two countries. Four decades on, Argentina's defeat against the British remains a gaping wound for the South American nation. More than eight out of ten Argentinians say their government should continue to claim sovereignty over the islands. FRANCE 24's Éléonore Vanel, Nicolas Flon and Flavian Charuel report.

Priyanka Saha is many things – a pregnancy and baby loss survivor, charity founder, lawyer, and believer in hope. Having lived through a traumatic first pregnancy loss and then the death of her first born, Lily at 10 months old, Priyanka set up the Lily Calvert Fund (LCF). LCF raises awareness of grief and loss and runs a national music therapy program providing musical care kits to paediatric palliative care programs Australia wide. Priyanka shares her thoughts on parenting after loss and post traumatic growth to her audience of over 20,000 on Instagram. She is a Very Special Kids Hospice ambassador, mother to Lily's little brother, Jasper, and often appears in media - providing commentary on baby loss and finding hope. Priyanka shares about Lily's short, but incredible life with The Glimmer Podcast. Priyanka tells Dr Ashleigh Smith that Lily brought her family and friends together in such a beautiful way. Priyanka believes there is space for all grief, be it miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, baby or child loss, and that the compassion as a fellow loss mother just grows. Priyanka talks about her son Jasper - both the pregnancy (including how important prenatal testing was to reassure her and get her through), as well as bringing up Jasper now, and fostering the beautiful bond between two siblings who never met. She also talks about her marriage and how together they survived the most difficult days, despite the odds. Priyanka gives practical advice as to how to guide family and friends to provide the support that you need. Priyanka says that she is grateful for the person that she is now, while it doesn't make the loss ok, she is a better person for it, and offers a glimmer of hope to listeners. In this week's episode, Alice talks to Dr Emily Mayhew, a historian of medicine at Imperial College, London. Emily specialises in the study of severe casualty - its infliction, treatment and long-term outcomes in 20th and 21st century warfare. Recently, she has worked particularly closely with researchers and staff at the Royal British Legion Centre for Blast Injury Studies, based at Imperial College, and she is part of the team that put together the ground-breaking Paediatric Blast Injury Field Manual. She has published a trilogy of books on war wounds from WW1 to Afghanistan: 'Wounded: the Long Journey Home from the Great War', 'The Guinea Pig Club: Archibald McIndoe and the RAF in World War Two', and 'A Heavy Reckoning: War, Medicine and Survivial in Afghanistan and Beyond'. In the podcast we also talk about her latest book, 'The Four Horsemen: War, Pestilence, Famine and Death, and the Hope of a New Age'. The episode begins with Emily discussing the kinds of wounds that became a common feature of the two World Wars, what those wounds can tell us about the political and military strategies that were being followed, and how medical science adapted to treat them. With advances in medical practice, more and more servicemen ended up surviving their wounds - and that gets us talking about public perceptions of injury and disability. In contrast to soldiers who lost limbs during WW1, for example, pilots who survived terrible burns during WW2 often found themselves feted by an admiring public. That gets us thinking about the experience of more recent veterans, from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the profound effects that blast injuries have long after the blast itself. Emily touches on the foundation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the birth of humanitarianism - and what happened in 2016 in Mosul, when for the first time in its history the Red Cross did not get involved. We discuss the role of historians alongside medics and humanitarian organisations in providing a line of defence against War, Pestilence, Famine and Death - and how valuable those ancient Horsemen are in helping us visualise what is at stake. Along the way, Emily stresses the disproportionate impact of war and man-made famines on children - the often unseen victims of conflict. Among other questions, Alice asked: how do wounds help us visualise war itself?what 'iconic' wounds do we associate with different wars, and why?what wounds remain less visible, or less understood?how has the general public responded to war wounds over time, and what has shaped their understanding and attitudes?how interconnected is the history of warfare and the history of medicine?what difference does it make to visualise war as one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse? how optimistic should we feel about our ability to keep those Horsemen at bay in future? We hope you enjoy the episode! *Please note: this episode was recorded in spring 2021, before the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. Some references to Afghanistan are therefore out of date. There’s something about working with the earth, about hearing the birds sing and about producing in the sun. It’s more than just the physical labor, says this week’s guest Peter Scott, it’s about creating and being a part of something bigger. Peter Scott can’t talk about a lot of what he did and saw while in the military. But he can talk about the farm he now uses to help veterans like himself heal from the wounds of war and to grow food for local military and veteran families. Listen to this compelling episode now! This evening Ben took his Reading from James 1:1-12 Preaching on 9-12 entitling his sermon 'War Wounds'. their faith has been put on trial. where your scars with pride, rehabilitation, of there wounds, live your life and boast in christ. V10 there are some people who do not suffer. the one who is rich, should take pride in their lowly position. the dividing line is Jesus Christ.
